  • "We had a fantastic 2 night stay at Thorn Tree Cottage, everything you could need was provided, including a lovely local welcome pack."

The quality of the appliances and kitchenware were top notch. The views from the cottage were stunning and there are so many places to visit within an easy drive. The owners are super friendly and leave you to enjoy the space. The beds are really comfortable, the shower was great and the huge bath towels were much appreciated. We loved watching the cows and rabbits in the field too. We loved the cottage so much we booked to return during our stay.

Dear Helen, Thank you so much for your kind words. We are over the moon you enjoyed your stay and are very much looking forward to welcoming you, for your return visit, later in the year. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful weekend in this cottage and honestly didn’t want to leave!"

The views were outstanding and it was so peaceful. The cottage is furnished beautifully, spotlessly clean and has everything you could possibly need. It is clear that so much thought and care has gone into creating a lovely place for families to stay. We loved exploring the surrounding area, especially the caverns at Castleton and Ladybower reservoir. We visited some lovely pubs in the area too. It has been the perfect place to come back to after a day out and we especially enjoyed sitting outside on the patio in the evenings as the sun went down. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place to stay. We feel very lucky to have been one of your first guests. We would absolutely love to come back and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a break in the area.

Thank you so much Jen for your wonderful review, your kind words really do mean so much. It was an honour to have your family as one of our first guests at Thorn Tree Cottage and we really hope to welcome you back one day in the future. Property Owner

The property

Thorn Tree Cottage is a beautiful single-storey cottage in Aston near Hope, Derbyshire, offering ample off-road parking with an EV charging point and far-reaching countryside views that frame the unmistakable silhouette of Peveril Castle.

Step inside and you’ll find a layout designed for easy holiday living, with a kitchen/diner ready for unhurried breakfasts and post-walk suppers, and a separate sitting room where the scenery outside does plenty of the talking.

Two inviting bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, make the cottage a great choice for friends travelling together, while the bathroom offers both a bath and a walk-in shower for rinsing off after a day outdoors.

A utility room add to the effortless feel, keeping everything practical without taking centre stage.

The setting in the wider Peak District National Park opens up days shaped by landmark views, village stops, and memorable outings.

In Hope, the surrounding valley invites you out for scenic rambles, with the castle view acting as a natural compass as you explore.

For a heritage-led afternoon, make time to visit Peveril Castle itself, then linger over a pub lunch afterwards in the village.

If you’re keen to head underground, Blue John Cavern makes for a striking day out, with its show caves and sense of discovery.

For a grander change of pace, plan a longer excursion to National Trust – Lyme, where you can wander the stately home and explore the wider estate for a full day on the move.

However you spend your time, Thorn Tree Cottage is a rewarding base for returning to those castle views at the end of the day.
