  • "We had a great stay at Jasmine cottage."

It is in a lovely location and the house is comfortable and cosy. It has lovely views and character. We really appreciated the message from the owner the first day, to check things were okay. We had most things that we needed (see comments below) and would recommend the property, with the below caveats only - For houses that take 4+ people, it would be handy to have a couple of saucepans that are big enough to cook for everyone. It could also do with some items like a measuring jug, grater, oven mits, cloths and cooking essentials such as oil. - The listing says "travel cot and highchair available on request" - neither are present on the property. We should have asked for the highchair in advance (we had our own cot) but it is just so others don't expect it - We have a crawling child and the property is not the best in that situation, as the downstairs is all open plan so there is nothing to stop them going upstairs, and when upstairs, most doors can be easily opened, with a very small landing where the stairs are right there - We had issues with the parking spaces. It says there is parking for 4 cars, but others cars for other properties used the space, with no clear guidelines about what was for the cottage, so we could not challenge anyone. Our party had 2 cars, but one of us had to park a couple of minutes up the street, as there were always 3 other cars parked. - Listing says 1 x king-size with en-suite walk-in shower, basin, and WC" but there is no basin

The picturesque gritstone village of Birchover is believed to once have been used by Druids as a ceremonial worship site. There’s a rock formation called Rowtor Rocks, with caves and carvings, prehistoric monuments and stone circles, including The Nine Ladies overlooking the village on Stanton Moor (where you can also find the Cork Stone). At Robin Hood's Stride and Cratcliffe Tor, a medieval hermit's cave can also be explored. Just five miles away, the popular town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, the Matlocks offer a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham. In the opposite direction is the market town of Bakewell, and a little further beyond lies Chatsworth House and Park.
