Spacious garden and fabulous games room. Walks from cottage door, we didn't go far as it was so warm but lovely relaxing break in a great property.

"This property was exactly as described and it still exceeded our expectations in many ways."
Communication with the owner Chris was second to none, she was extremely informative and helpful before, during and even after our stay. Plenty of space for a family of 6 and the dog, and we made full use of the garden and games room. I would highly recommend and we genuinely hope to return in the future!
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for such a lovely review.
I love my old family home and work hard to continuously maintain or improve standards hoping that our guests enjoy it too.
I’m so glad it worked for you and your family and that we could help at the end of your stay. You’ll be welcome back at any time.

The property was as described in the advert, was very warm and cosy, as the weather wasn't to kind to us on our visit , it was stocked with all items needed for day to day living and the welcome package was very appreciated and very tasty, thank you , and our 2 little fur babies Harvey & Frankie enjoyed running around the large enclosed rear garden , didn't use the games room but it looked like it would be fun if you have children , all in all we all enjoyed our stay , Steve , Jeanette & ( the boys)

"This was a lovely house to spend new year we had 3 adults and 3 grown up kids and we all had a lovely time, lovely log fire and the owner supplied all you needed to keep that burning for the entire stay."
Plenty of room, blankets games and information on what to do locally. There is a games room which is a great touch but with no heating we only managed to brave this the once. The owners were fantastic with communication and information on how to find the property, we drove separately and no one had any bother getting to the accommodation. We had a nice welcome basket, a lovely chat with the owner of the cleaning company and I can honestly say nothing was a problem. Great stay and would recommend x

"We booked this property to celebrate Christmas as a full family for the first time in over ten years, and it exceeded our expectations."
Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the exceptional attention to detail. Festive decorations were thoughtfully placed throughout the property, including a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the living room.
We were also very pleasantly surprised by the welcome gifts, which included complimentary champagne, mulled wine, and a pack of mince pies. These thoughtful touches truly enhanced the experience and made the occasion feel especially welcoming and memorable.
The games room was a fantastic addition, featuring a dartboard, pool table, and foosball, providing entertainment for all ages. The property itself was immaculately clean and exceptionally well maintained. The owners should be extremely proud to offer such a high-quality property in a stunning location.
The surrounding area was equally enjoyable, with lovely nearby walks and a farm shop just a two-minute walk away. Overall, this was a wonderful stay and a perfect setting for a special family celebration.
Dear Mr Maxted,
We are delighted your family chose to spend your valuable Christmas reunion time at Oxcroft View.
As my former family home, we continue to work to update and improve things as well as learn about next steps from our lovely guests. We always aim to achieve a comfortable family vibe and am so glad it worked for you and your pets.
Your feedback is much appreciated and we hope to welcome you back for a return visit in future.

"Had a great week at 1, Oxcroft View."
However, your directions need amending.
The property is on Mansfield Road. Your directions imply it is reached from Oxcroft Lane. It is not. If you follow Oxcroft Lane you will get hopelessly confused by the numerous Oxcroft properties down there, as we did. Keep it simple. If coming from S, the property is on E (right hand) side of Mansfield Road just before junction with Oxcroft Lane; or if you are coming from N it is on the left shortly after the Farm Shop and just beyond the junction with Oxcroft Lane.
Dear Mr Painter,
Firstly, please accept my apologies for taking so long to respond to your feedback about directions to Oxcroft View.
The original directions were entered by a colleague and I agree they were very confusing. I suspect you may have downloaded those shortly before I realised this error and changed them. Since my family moved there in 1970, Oxcroft has always been tricky to find as the postal boundary between Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire addresses lies on our garden hedge. I now send a What3Words code to new guests before arrival. It is much more accurate than the postcode.
We wish you all the best for 2026, are so glad you enjoyed your week in the area and look forward to welcoming you back for a return visit if/as/when that fits in with your plans in future.
Kind regards,
Chris, Jim & Lara

"Extended family trip to Oxcroft was very enjoyable."
Location is perfect for visiting many attractions in the area - Creswell Crags, Bolsover Castle, Renishaw, Clumber Park, Hardwick. We could have spent longer there as lots to do in area.
Road is fairly busy at times but didn't bother us. Garden is very safe and secure with two sets of gates through to back garden. Our dog loved it.
Accommodation was comfortable, beds excellent quality with clean bedding. Logs provided for burner in lounge and good big tv with Netflix. Nice to be able to sit in kitchen whilst someone cooks - more utensils needed though: metal strainer spoon and serving spoon, large oven tray, deep oven dishes, washing up bowl, hand drying towel. Bathrooms need bins too.
Good garden furniture outside was useful, we enjoyed some sunny evenings.
The games room is a brilliant addition. We played pool and darts in there every night. There isn't any table tennis as advertised, we took spare bats and balls fo four players so it was very disappointing as we love to play. It didn't spoil the holiday but shouldn't be listed if not available.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the week there and would certainly return, and recommend.
Updated directions needed as it isn't obvious where it is. Maybe a dropped pin sent to guests upon booking.
The walk down Oxcroft Lane to Elmton and village pub was great - literally starts next to house and is 1 mile. Turn right out of gate and right again.
Dear Ms Helmore,
My apologies for taking so long to reply to your review. Thank you very much for your kind comments, and we are really pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay.
For your reference and that of prospective future customers, please note the table tennis table which should have been delivered before your stay has now been replaced with a new Cornilleau table & bats.
I have also taken your advice about improving the range of kitchen utensils.
You will be welcome back at any time.
Best wishes,
Chris

"Comfortable semi sitting in arable farming area."
Quiet but not remote making great base for exploring. House kitted out with all mod cons making it a home from home. The beds are great.... every night I was out like a light. Lovely farm shop very nearby for fruit and veg. Really enjoyed my week here and would do so again when I am next in the area.
Dear Mr Parker,
Thank you for your lovely review. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and will consider visiting again. This is my first year of holiday letting so I am learning and aiming to improve guest experience all the time. Guest feedback is truly helpful.
Work to remove the remaining greenhouse glass is planned in November and I intend to add a table tennis table to the games room at the same time. It would be great to welcome you back and receive further feedback as you see my former home develop in future. Thank you again.
Kind regards,

"Fantastic accommodation."
Lovely and Clean. Very well equipped. The kids loved the games room. ☺️
Dear Mrs Shellard,
Thank you for your lovely, positive feedback. I am delighted you all had a good time at my former family home & hope you may consider returning to explore more of our fascinating area in future. With Halloween events at Bolsover Castle and Pumpkin Picking in Morefruita’s field beside Oxcroft View in October, November’s Bonfire Night and Nottingham’s Goose Fair there are always new, interesting things to do.
I love table tennis too and am taking your feedback on the games room into account. I had hoped to source an outdoor table tennis table during the summer but, with winter ahead, will find one to place inside the games room instead.
Best wishes to you and your family,
Chris Dunin (Mrs)

"We have just been the first visitors to stay in Oxcroft View, and it didn't disappoint."
A lovely welcome pack and milk were waiting on arrival. The games room was a hit with all of us and the bundle of baby toys left for our 5 month granddaughter was amazing. Lots of home comforts and a nice place to sit outside, which was much needed with the weather ☀️. Plenty to see and do around the area, we visited Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park and a bit further a field Matlock, and of course the crooked spire in Chesterfield, to name just a few places. Thank you for our stay, our family had a lovely time, our Granddaughters first holiday was one to remember ❤️. Xx
Good morning Mrs Skipper,
Thank you for being our first guest family at Oxcroft View and your lovely feedback in Guestbook and online which is so important for our new small business venture.
Without wishing to take up too much of your time, could you please expand a little bit on the points you awarded for facilities and listing accuracy? Zoey has been in contact with you so far as I now live a significant distance from Oxcroft and am lucky to have her as an amazing Wonder Woman who sorts everything on site. However, as owner, I fully appreciate there are several areas needing further improvement and that guests may have different priorities to me.
As a semi-detached house there are obviously areas that we cannot control eg our neighbour’s current renovations and vehicle collection but it would be a great help to know what guests consider to be the priorities we can tackle regarding facilities and accuracy of listing.
Thank you for your time and insight to help us get Oxcroft ‘right’. It means a lot to me.
I am so glad your family and granddaughter had a happy, positive holiday.
Best wishes to all,
Chris Dunin (Mrs)
