  • "The accommodation was very clean and well equipped."

    Nice private rear garden with patio table and chairs. The British weather limited the use of this facility but it would be nice in the summer time. The location was perfect, short walk to great pubs and restaurants by the riverside. Easy access to Nottingham. We had a great stay with nothing bad to report. I honestly cannot speak highly enough about our stay. It will be my number 1 choice for any future trips.

  • "This was a great house in a perfect location for our needs."

    The space was lovely and had all the basics you would need. There were also some extras such as milk already in the fridge that made life so much easier. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "The place was excellent in that the location was perfect and the property had all we needed, very thoughtfully provided."

    John and Jane, our hosts, communicated well. There was scope for better quality in some of the fixtures/fittings/equipment but beating in mind value it was very good. The back garden is a missed opportunity to create an idyllic outdoor space/facilities.

You mentioned that you thought some of the towels could be improved - in response to your comment we have just bought new ones from John Lewis. You also mentioned that you weren’t keen on the IKEA crockery. It is all new and white - we chose this so we could replace any breakages and to keep the property affordable for our guests. I am so pleased you enjoyed the garden and the patio. It’s a lovely spot. You are right that it has great potential. We keep the garden tidy but unfortunately developing further would require us to significantly increase the price which we are reluctant to do. Thanks again for staying with us. Property Owner

  • "Very nice cottage close to the village & riverside, beds very comfortable & all kitchen amenities worked very well."

    The heating was not sufficient for the time of year, we found it difficult to monitor & the newer looking radiators did not seem to be working? but maybe it was us ? apart from that we had a lovely stay & will definitely book again next October

    We are really pleased you enjoyed the cottage, but so sorry that you had problems with the radiator. The radiator valve was replaced straight after your visit, so it’s all working now. Please ring us if you have ever any issues when you are staying. We will always pop down asap and get any problems sorted for you.   • "Gateway narrow difficult to park a larger vehicle."

    Bushes on garden wall can scratch vehicle. Car covered in debris and bird mess fallimg from tree.

    Thank for staying with us and for the feedback. We are sorry that you found the driveway difficult. Thanks for pointing out the bushes by the wall in the front. I'll make sure they are cut back hard. There is a lovely magnolia tree in the front garden and, as it is now autumn, it is shedding its leaves. The cottage is surrounded by countryside and I’m afraid birds are not something we can do a great deal about. It is an old cottage and the gateway is narrower than for a new house. In the past we have parked a variety of vehicles on the drive, including a tipper truck, but we come through the gateway with care. There is also lots of safe, unrestricted parking on the road directly outside the house - it's a quiet village so there is always plenty of parking available. Thanks again for staying with us.   • "We had a lovely stay in the cottage; it was very comfortable and had everything that we needed for our holiday."

    The location is also really good and within easy reach of lots of great locations. Our two children also loved staying, especially enjoying the range of games and books in the evenings as well as some of the recommended day trips. Thank you very much!

  • "The cottage is simply beautiful."

    All the rooms are decorated lovely and the pictures do not show actually how much space is in each room! The main living area is so homely. The location is fantastic also with many bars and restaurants catering to children.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay here."

    It was very clean and well maintained. There is a lovely garden out the back which is peaceful and private. It can be seen from the large window in the lounge which let in lots of light. Jane left us a nice welcome note and some provisions, and was quick to respond when I wanted to check something with her. There is a take away and some pubs in walking distance. If you have young children The Old Vol pub is s short drive away, and has a little village where the children can play. I would definitely stay at this property again and can recommend it as a great place to stay.

  • "My bed was too soft but apart from that everything was lovely I appreciated the welcome card"

  • "I had a really nice and comfortable stay here."

    The bedrooms were lovely and warm and the bedding very luxurious. The cottage is quiet and you can get a lovely sleep. There was an unforseen problem with a new washing machine, that had only just been plumbed in - The owner was very apologetic and took my washing - washed and dried in 8 hours and delivered back to my door! Nothing seems too much trouble for the owner. An excellent stay - thank you!

  • "We had a really lovely stay, Jane, the owner was really lovely and she made us feel really welcomed and made sure we had everything we needed."

    It was lovely to also arrive to a place where a lot of thought had put into what essentials we might need at the property. The owner, Jane, thought of everything and we could see she really went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. The property is really spacious, it was really clean and comfortable, we all slept really well. The location was really quiet with no noise disturbance at all. Everything we had hoped for was met at this property and more! Thank you for everything we had an amazing stay!!

35 Main Street rests in the town of Guntorpe, near Lowdham, and is a charming cottage built in the 1700s, offering a delightful base for friends or a family looking for a getaway to Nottinghamshire.

Park off-road outside this pretty property and make your way inside, finding a characterful cottage kitchen housing a selection of amenities, as well as a handy pantry, to cater to your culinary needs; this space is threaded with original beams and houses a breakfast table.

A combination of exposed brick and sheer white walls contrast to create stylish feature walls throughout the hallway, and from here there is a contemporary living/dining room, a stunning space with a light and airy atmosphere and a dining table ideal for hearty meals, as well as a sitting area beside an ornamental fireplace, a lovely spot for catching up on a good book.
