  • "Flawless. Just the spot for relaxation."

    Very comfortable and loved the open plan layout. Loads of wood provided for the log burner, a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk etc. Now then, some soundproofing is required between Alder and it's neighbour, you really can hear everything from next door. The broadband is also unreliable, I understand this is probably a temporary fault but couldn't watch tv without tethering mobile signal. Well equipped and helpful hosts.

    Such a beautiful home, and really appreciate the little extras such as a cot and a highchair for our daughter. We will be back next year - thanks so much Dave & Sally!   • "We had a wonderful stay at Alder Cottage."

    The property was exceptionally clean, warm, and comfortable, providing a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. The hosts had clearly put great thought into every detail, ensuring guests have everything they might need. Essentials such as milk, tea, coffee, sugar, towels, and cleaning supplies were all provided, along with convenient amenities including a washing machine, television, microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, oven, and induction hob. The only minor improvement we would suggest would be the addition of some privacy screening in the courtyard area to enhance the sense of seclusion. Folds yard is a excellent place to stay and we would happily return

  • "Alder Cottage was warm and inviting as soon as stepping through the door."

    We were very impressed with the layout and rooms, lovely large hallway with space to hang coats. Living area and kitchen beautifully appointed, every item available in the drawers and cupboards. Lovely comfortable bed and the underfloor heating gave an all round equal warmth to every room. A welcome pack was much appreciated with milk in the fridge.. All round a wonderful week's stay and will be returning.

  • "Fold Yards is a beautiful old building that has been converted in an excellent way to holiday lets."

    A great location for visiting the Southern Peak District as well as some nice walks straight from the cottage. The interior design was superb, combining style and comfort. It was very well equipped with everything we needed, including a welcome Welcome Pack!

  • "Spacious, clean, war and cosy."

    The owners were so generous leaving us enough logs for the log burner for the week we were there, also every other thing we could want. Top quality cookware, and everything furnished to a high standard. A previous guest had noted the noise from next door, in our case the other property was occupied for about 3 days by a family with a small (unfortunately unhappy) child. We could hear crying when in the living area but as the bedrooms are on either end of the property there were no issues with hearing anything at night.

  • "This is a five star apartment with nice design touches, ideally located for Bakewell, Chatsworth and Matlock."

    Coop in local village for shopping needs. Owner on site and very helpful, as it’s a working farm nice to get close up to the Bulls. Plenty of space within the apartment, with outside seating, very comfortable bed and on site parking.

  • "It was a lovely property but why on earth the door between ourselves and the next rooms was left in is beyond me."

    We could see the lights and hear noise through the door which was not very good. Apart from that it was an excellent stay.

The Fold Yard

The Fold Yard is an exceptional collection of eight properties that were originally constructed between 1895 and 1900. These lovely properties rest on a working farm amongst the scenic hills of Alderwasley, Derbyshire. Each of these has a wonderful farm-themed interior, private patios and an excellent location close to the Peak District National Park. The Fold Yard are ideal for families, friends and even couples who are looking to explore this luxurious province. While residing at The Fold Yard you can visit Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Kedleston Hall. Alderwasley is renowned for beautiful walks through Shining Cliff woods and the Midshires Way runs through the village near to Fold Yards. Locally the Great British Car Experience and the White Peak Distillery are only 2 miles away. The market town of Wirksworth is 2 and 1/2 miles away with local amenities, restaurants, St Mary's Walk where the ancient St Mary's Church stands, the Ecclesbourne Heritage Railway, Black Rocks and the High Peak Cycle Trail leading to Tissington. Alderwasley is on the boundary of Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Venture to the Heights of Abraham where you can soak up the brilliant views on a cable car journey, thereafter, head to the Great Masson Cavern located here for a subterranean adventure. Alderwasley is a scattered area of farms and a couple of local pubs located in lovely rolling countryside with undisturbed views for miles, on the southern borders of the Peak District National Park. Nearby Wirksworth is a small, charming market town on the edge of the White Peak, and is full of character, with many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient "jitties" and courtyards, and the National Stone Centre, as well as the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there is good walking all around. Well Dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and Wirksworth combines this tradition with a lively carnival. The annual Arts festival attracts international performers of every kind. Close to Alderwasley is Belper which is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th Century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds true today. Now a spirited and bustling town, attractions include the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. Beautiful Chatsworth House, Shottle Hall and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as well as Matlock Bath with its spectacular cable car, the newly restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver's Kingdom. Only 2 miles away, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is not to be missed. A great location for a varied holiday.
