This delightful detached cottage near Tissington is located on the owner’s working dairy farm with stunning views over the Tissington Trail and beyond.
Entry is directly into the kitchen with sociable dining space, where you’ll find plenty of room to cater for your party whilst gazing across the surrounding scenery!
With the accommodation mainly over the ground floor, to the left of the kitchen is a small utility room with traditional pantry cupboard and stairs accessing the pretty twin bedroom.
The sitting room continues from the kitchen, offering a lovely large and contemporary space with woodburning stove, the ideal accompaniment on cooler evening.
The spacious hallway then leads to a master king-size double bedroom and a shower room, with two steps up to the double bedroom.
Outside, the front patio is perfectly placed to enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding countryside whilst having your morning cup of tea and planning your day, and a small lawned area with a very low wall separates the fields beyond.
There are wonderful walking and cycling opportunities, with a footpath running right past the doorstep, heading either towards the village of Tissington (just 15 minutes' walk away), or with direct access onto the Tissington Trail, via a traffic-free track.
The village of Tissington is a real step back in time, complete with Tissington Hall, neat village greens and a duck pond.
Attractive Dovedale is just a short drive away, and a wealth of market towns, pretty villages, historic houses and spectacular scenery are all within easy reach.
If you’re seeking a traditional, rural retreat in the Peak District National Park, Croft House is a perfect choice.

We loved this cottage.
Its perfect for visits to Dovedale and Ilam. You can walk to Tissington which is so pretty and Monyash and Bakewell are close by. The cottage is comfy and there's plenty of wildlife close by.
My friend and I fell in love with this cottage.
It’s very spacious, nicely furnished and homely. It’s on a working farm with a lovely view across the valley. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with decent pots, china, an induction hob, washing up machine and plenty of cupboard space. As someone who likes to cook I was impressed. Maybe the frying pans have seen better days but I always bring my own as well as a quality kitchen knife. There were some basics in the food cupboard which makes a nice change. I have stayed in cottages where there isn’t even a pot of salt. Lovely hosts. If you want to get your e-bike onto the Tissington Trail, you will have to push it up a steep embankment. It was a bit of a struggle for two old ladies! I would most definitely recommend this holiday cottage and I very much hope to come again.
Fantastic stay.
Great property, facilities and location. Not something I’d say often, but Croft house is somewhere I would definitely stay again! The rooms were spacious and the owners had ensured there was all the equipment needed in a kitchen for dinning in. The property was clean and in a quiet location just north of Ashbourne. It was a great base location which meant all our weeks activities which included, biking, gorge scrambling, Alton towers, Segway, Chatsworth house and walking were under an hour away.

The location was so peaceful and the accommodation was just as shown. It worked perfectly for us as it was spacious enough for 3 generations with 2 large ground floor bedrooms and a twin room upstairs. Lots of lovely walks on the doorstep: flat walks along the Tissington Trail and hilly footpaths across fields (best of both). The owners were friendly and helpful.

It's a great cottage in quiet location.
The house is well laid out and more spacious than other places we've stayed at. There are two nice double bedrooms and a room with two beds on the top floor with its own toilet. Only one shower, but this was fine for a family of five. It has a large kitchen table, two big sofas, and a good TV. It is close to Ashbourne and a short distance from a couple of nice pubs/restaurants. There is a nice walk down a disused railway line that starts 200m from the property. The owner lives in the farm next door, which is handy if there are any issues. The door to the cottage was left open when we arrived so there was no faffing around with keyboxes etc. I'd happily stay there again and recommend it to others.

The Sycamore pub at Parwich is worth a visit. Good food in a lovely village.. We would definitely return to this property.
We have stayed at this croft cottage twice now and I can honestly say it's just beautiful, the cottage has everything you need and we love the log burner, the hosts are lovely.
The accommodation was as described and more, Wonderful location , fantastic views , lovely walks from the door as described.

We loved our stay at Croft house - the facilities were great and we were so close to the Tissington trail unfortunately our dog injured her paw before our visit so we were more limited than normal .
We did enjoy a run on the trail. It is a very peaceful place to stay and we would definitely return.

Croft House was very comfortable and roomy and it was great with the icy weather to be able to do beautiful walks straight from the cottage. The owners made us very welcome, and we'd definitely recommend this cottage.
We stayed at Croft house over the Christmas period, myself, my husband, my daughter, her fiancee, his mom and their 2 dogs, we had the most amazing time.
The perfect sunny weather was the icing on the cake, Croft house was situated in a perfect location whereas we has access to lovely walks. We could not have asked for anything more regarding the house, loads of room for us all, warm and amazingly comfortable, facilities second to none. Thank you for letting Croft house out. X

Gorgeous house, beautiful location, perfect as a base camp for so many activities.
We had a short stay for Chatsworth Christmas Market. The house is so much roomier than we expected, very clean and well provisioned. We will be back.

Wonderful cottage. Wonderful owners. Wonderful location. Croft house is equipped with everything you need for a stay. It is very comfortable and clean, you can see how much love and pride is put into the cottage! We were a family of 6, mom, dad, 19 yo son, 18 yo daughter, 16 yo son and 14 yo son... and a dog. We all loved being able to spend the time together in such a secluded area. We spent most of our time in the cottage cooking and talking around the kitchen table. We enjoyed investigating the local area. So many places to see. Would definitely love to return! Thank you, Jo and Peter.

Fantastic location for exploring everywhere in The Peak District and the cottage is very spacious and comfortable. The views from the cottage are fabulous and it was so interesting to hear about the livestock and the history of the farm. Shame we only had a weekend here.

The only thing was there was only 4 wine glasses in a cottage for 6 also some Prosecco glasses would be good We had a great Sunday lunch at The Sycamore Inn in Parwich. Dog friendly and lovely food

Extremely clean and well equipped property with loads of space inside. All the rooms were good sizes unlike some holiday cottages we have stayed in. Owners are very friendly if needed but leave you to your own space if desired. We had a lovely tour when the cows were being milked. Location is great, both for driving to local places and walking/cycling along the Tissington Trail which goes right past the farm. We would stay again without hesitation.

Thank you for the Easter treats too and the fresh milk from your farm. A couple of things that could of improved our stay would be if the garden was enclosed for dogs staying and a few bags of gravel for the pot holes in the driveway. The location is spot on with easy access to the Tissington trail for walking/cycling and Dovedale is stunning. Also had a wonderful meal in the Old Dog.

Being a working dairy farm the description does state dogs are to be supervised or on a lead when outside and also refers to low wall into our fields , which if fenced would spoil the view of countryside.
A magnificent property.
Perfect location to explore the surrounding area. It was spacious, cosy and had everything we needed. This was the first time we had been away with our puppy and he loved it too! The fresh milk was a delicious welcoming gift- thank you. We would definitely return and have already recommended to friends and family.
Fantastic cottage in a great location by the Tissington Trail.
Wish we had been able to stay for a full week. The cottage was lovely and clean and well stocked and comfortable. The fresh milk was lovely I would mention that the what three words on the Sykes webpage wasn’t correct and took us to the B&B further up the road so that needs to be changed. But easy enough to find and would highly recommend the cottage to anyone.
A very clean, comfortable and peaceful property with everything provided.
A perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside, yet not far from the charming town of Ashbourne and a nice drive through part of the Peak District to Chatsworth House, the main reason for the short break. As would be expected on a first visit, it wasn't possible to visit all the attractions / places of interest, so a return visit is definitely on the cards.

Excellently equipped cottage all you need and more.
The owners are very friendly and approachable even taking the time to give a tour of milking parlour. And the fresh milk is a bonus. Plenty of things to do within easy reach and the Tissington trail runs right by the cottage so if a walk is what you like there are plenty on the doorstep.
A really nice, spacious, comfortable and well equipped cottage, the owners are really lovely people, there was a jug of fresh milk in the fridge on our arrival, which was delicious Thank you, was lovely watching the cows coming in for milking every morning, and was lucky enough to get to see an hour old calf which Peter the owner kindly let me see.
The surrounding area is beautiful, we brought our bikes with us and the Tissington Trail is accessible right near the cottage, lots of attractions nearby, and nice pubs for lunch and evening meals, would definitely recommend The Sycamore and the Coach and Horses. We have had a fabulous time at Croft House and would highly recommend.

The owners lived very close and were very friendly and helpful. If we were looking for a property to stay at for visiting the Peak District again we would not look for anywhere else to stay as Croft House was perfect for our family and dog

Had a lovely weekend at Croft House.
There had been a heavy snowfall the day before and Peter was kind enough to call to let us know the roads had been cleared. Despite the weather, the cottage was lovely and warm, very spacious and well equipped with plenty of kitchen items. Everything we needed for our stay.
We actually had a pleasant holiday, ( 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog).
However, on returning home, I received a phone call from an angry woman, presumably the owner, having a go at me for our dog leaving dirty paw marks on the duvet cover in one bedroom. I had left a note apologising for this, a small error in not fully pushing the door closed. There were no other complaints from her, and I think her attitude was unreasonable. I offered to pay for a new one if it did not come out in the wash but she clearly wasn’t even listening . She told us to never come there again and put the phone down. I have written to them complaining about their attitude, and also pointing out to them that the cottage had some faults too, such as the sandwich toaster, being unwashed and having cooked cheese all stuck to it, as well as one radiator not working and the bathroom hot tap, being broken.
Sorry to hear your concerns , how ever some of the items mentioned are innacurate. Please read previous reviews and decide , thank-you.

It was comfortable, warm and cosy,very well equipped. The delicious milk provided was very much appreciated. The owners were lovely, not intrusive but available. We would definitely stay there again.

A superb cottage in a superb location.
Absolutely perfect for walking the Tissington Trail and equally close to lots of other places of interest. The very friendly owners Peter and Jo certainly run a well kept and spacious cottage. Not quite the place for the “Clean Car” brigade, but what the heck, the cottage is after all, on a farm and boots etc can and do get dirty! We recently enjoyed two, week long holidays and certainly will be booking again next year.

We had a fantastic summer break with the kids, and very warm and helpful owners living nearby, always ready to help, Thank you Peter a role model of a personality!
This is a fantastic rustic cottage on a working farm.
It can therefore smell a bit fresh at times. This was a very small price to pay. Lots of space inside and out. Watching the cows come and go from milking in the morning and evening sun was delightful. The property is right on the Tissington trail which is perfect for walking, cycling and running and can take you all the way to Buxton. Dovedale is very near but was very busy near the main car park. Go all the way to the North end and the ice-cream at Mill Dale is worth the walk. Great communications with the owner. A jug of fresh milk from the farm was a really nice surprise in our arrival. WiFi was a bit temperamental but this didn't bother the adults! Highly recommend.

it was ideal for 2 mums over 80!2 daughter s and there 2 dogs!lovely fresh milk from the farm!ideally situated for all of the Peak District!tissington village is lovely and the tearooms !dove dale 5 miles away with fabulous scenery and walks!!tissington track right on your doorstep for lovely dog walks! The cottage is well stocked with everything for self catering! woodburner lovely for those cooler nights very spacious living!!lovely hosts!! Perfect place with a lovely view of the fields and cows outside your front door

This is a great cottage, the second time we have stayed there and we will likely return in the summer.
It is quiet, with wonderful surroundings and only a few minutes walk to the Tissington Trail. The cottage has all the necessary fittings etc and they supply you with wonderful milk direct from their cows. I would recommend it to everyone.

We had a really fantastic stay at Croft House.
The property itself was clean and spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The setting was lovely on a working farm and our three boys loved the fresh milk form the resident cows and the opportunity to watch them being milked daily. The house was conveniently placed for exploring the local area and further afield and we were able to enjoy trips to Bolsover Castle, Chatsworth House and Crich Tramway as well as some lovely walks in Lathkill Dale and Padley Gorge. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and only to happy to assist if needed whilst letting us get on with enjoying the break. We all had a thoroughly good time and would highly recommend Croft House to others.

We took our bikes and was so glad we did. No roads at all and nearly 30 miles of trails to explore from the front door. Dovedale so close too. The cottage was very comfortable and we felt we had 2 worths of relaxation in 1.

The owner could not have been more welcoming; fresh milk from his cows was an unexpected delight! The accommodation was fantastic - clean, warm and very comfortable, with everything we could possibly need. It really was a perfect setting for a very relaxing week. Perfectly located for some peace and quiet and wonderful walks. Kitchen was incredibly well stocked and all the little things were provided like soap, dishwasher tablets, logs for the fire etc. We were even provided with delicious fresh milk. Really enjoyable stay!
Peter & Jo are such lovely people-- left a small present in the cottage, as they knew it was my my Mom's 80th birthday.

The hosts Peter and Jo are amazing.
They are there if needed but left us alone. Peter let us watch the cows being milked and see the calves. The beautiful fresh milk was much appreciated. The cottage is just gorgeous and very homely and cosy. It is extremely well equipped. The walks are really lovely around the Tissington Trail for both people and furry friends. This was our first experience of staying in a cottage but we loved it and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. A perfectly secluded and relaxing break amongst all of the chaos this year has thrown at us. Thankyou!!!
Lovely cottage fitted and equipped to a very high standard.
Cosy and comfortable. Friendly owners were there if needed but not intrusive and the fresh milk from the resident dairy herd was so lovely too. Would certainly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing holiday.

Lovely location. Ideal for walking holiday
A beautiful location, with a cottage that's spacious, comfortable and very well equipped.
Being on a working dairy farm was nice, plus the fresh milk deliveries were a very much enjoyed bonus too! We were treated to a lamb being born on Christmas Day in the field directly in front of the cottage and that's not something I'll forget in a hurry. The only slight issue we had in the cottage was with the Wi-Fi - it's very slow (we measured 0.2Mbps at best) and usable for only basic messaging and emails. Web browsing is pretty slow and streaming of any kind is a no-go so perhaps those with teenagers looking to hammer the Wi-Fi on YouTube, Netflix and the like, should bear this in mind but otherwise Croft House is a delightful place to stay and I would highly recommend it. The location is ideal for exploring the Peak District, 10 mins by road from Ashbourne, and only about 30 mins or so from places like Derby, Leek, Buxton and Matlock. The cottage is very handy for picking up the Tissington Trail too; a must for anyone who likes getting out on two feet or wheels! Tissington itself can be reached in about 30-35 minutes on foot from the cottage via the trail and is a lovely village to wander around, checking out the wells and enjoying the quaint-ness of the place. There's a great little butcher's shop hidden in the village plus a couple of places to grab free-range eggs, and friendly local cats if you like feline friends! My thanks to the owners and for the free fresh milk!
We are glad you enjoyed your stay over Christmas, and that you appreciated the fresh milk delivery. The internet is the only one we can get for the area, unfortunately the broadband we have can not support streaming. This is due to the location. However, you will be able to browse the internet with too much of a problem. The area does get 4G reception which you will be able to use for streaming

My sister and I had a fabulous weeks holiday at Croft house.
We loved being on the working dairy farm and we learnt so many facts. The farmer & his wife were extremely helpful in every way, fresh milk from the dairy whenever we needed it to helping us with routes. Brilliant hospitality. Lovely rooms, incredibly well equipped kitchen & great towels. We enjoyed amazing views across the farms fields which we absolutely loved. Thank you and we’ll be back in June.

Lovely cottage for 6 on a working dairy farm in an ideally placed spot for convenient walking from the property.
Great outlook across the fields with the Tissington Trail on the doorstep. A nice jug of ‘homegrown’ milk in the fridge to greet us. All the comforts of home. Outdoor seating with views across the landscape. Cosy lounge. Only challenge was one bathroom between us but the extra loo helped ( my fault I misread the blurb!). Comfortable beds and a dark sky if you like looking at the stars. Would love to return in the winter months and appreciate the log burner.
This is a perfect place for hikers, gentle walkers or just those who want to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful setting.
Who could resist fresh milk given by the cows who have just paraded before you? Peter & Jo, family and farm workers all made us feel sooooo welcome!
The cottage owners were extremely helpful and friendly, even letting us use their kettle when the one provided failed suddenly.

Our toddler was constantly fascinated by all the farm noises and vehicles that the owner used and we were mesmerised by the setting! In the middle of Tissington trail, surrounded by a lovely nature, it was a perfect break from the city. Being this close to the farm made us realise again, how hard the farm life is! Big respect to the owner who was working tirelessly on the farm every day but always so pleasant and happy to help. The cottage is well equipped, lots of fab pubs within 10mins drive and if it rains there is a great soft play in Ashbourne for toddlers. Fresh milk and the open fire was a real bonus! We will come again, thank you!

A very well equipped house (especially the kitchen) - everything we needed for a comfortable stay. A lovely and quiet location, with great access to the rest of the peak district
The holiday cottage was great.
It was clean, spacious and met all our needs as a family. Peter, the dairy farmer, and his wife really went out if their way to make us feel at home. It was a great place to stay and in a great location too. Thank you. Sykes' booking fee was the only fly in the ointment. I thought £39.00 was excessive considering we only booked for two nights. And, this was applied right at the end of the booking process online, not at the beginning. For this reason, we will not be booking through Sykes again.
Owner Peter was lovely, hospitable, welcoming and accommodating.

A truly delightful venue for an extremely relaxing stay, first class amenities, well presented with peace and tranquility in abundance.
A definite must when staying is to experiencing one of the twice daily milking of the hosts cows. Location is superb for the Dales with endless amounts of places to go and see. Highly recommended accommodation.
Craft House is in the centre of a family dairy farm.
Tenants can see the cows leave and return to the hillside field opposite the kitchen window twice a day for milking. The farmer and his family are very friendly and supply a large jug of fresh, creamy milk every day (perfect for children). By arrangement, families are also encouraged to visit the calves and see the cows milked. The area is great for children, Dove Dale, with its stepping stones, caves and Dove Cloud, Ilam, Matlock Bath (Heights of Abraham) and Carsington Water offer varied activity to be enjoyed on many levels.
We were made to feel very welcome by the freindly owners.
We were invited to spectate in the daily milking process, which was very informative. The property was well equipt and suberbly positioned.

This is a lovely cottage on a working farm.
It has superb views and is ideal for those who.Live walking as the Tissington Trail is less than a 5 minute walk and can be seen from the cottage. Both Ashbourne and Buxton are very accessible and there are plenty of places to visit nearby.

Owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Nice views looking onto Tissington Trail. We wanted to be able to walk on the trail and literally a few hundred yards down the farm track easy access straight onto the trail. Located to be able to drive easily to other walking spots, Dovedale etc. The cottage is comfortable and spacious with everything we needed for a great holiday. Dog friendly. Your dog will need to be well trained as the garden is not fenced off from the farm and is close proximity to the farm buildings which is a working dairy farm.

Great little cottage, perfect for a couples getaway.
Good cooking facilities, cosy lounge, comfy beds. Couldn't ask for any more. The farm is also right on the Tissington Trail which was great too. The owner was friendly and helpful but at the same time we had a good amount of privacy as the cottage is set a little way away from the main house. The free flowing milk supply from the dairy farm was also an added bonus!

A fantastic cottage in a lovely location very close to the Tissington Trail.
The cottage was warm, very comfortable and very well equipped for us all including the dog ! The fresh milk from Peter the owner was an added bonus. We had a lovely time and can certainly recommend this cottage.
Really spacious accommodation, we spent the weekend here when attending a wedding at Tissington Hall.

The location is perfect.
Just off a busy main road but a feeling of being 'away from it all'. The only sounds you could hear came from the cows and birds. A very cosy house with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside and absolutely everything you need for either a short break or a longer holiday.
One of the most comfortable, warm and friendly holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.

This is a great cottage, very cosy yet spacious.
We loved the location, only 10 minutes for shopping in Ashbourne, yet you are open countryside with great views, places like Dovedale and Tissington very closeby. Made full use of the Tissington trail on bike and foot. Nice to be on a real working farm and getting fresh milk from the very friendly owners.
