"We had a great stay at Rock Cottage."
It is very well looked after and a lot is fitted into a small space. It was very hot when we were there and the place kept beautifully cool inside. The kitchen is quite low on one side but that was only a problem for one of us so it worked out fine. The outdoor bath proved to be a pleasant end to a hard days walking.
We did three really good walks from the door and found the local pub quirky but good and welcoming on our return.

"A beautiful little cottage, really well cared for with everything needed for a stay in the area."
The hillside, outdoor bath is an absolute gem - beautiful place to relax after a long walk, especially on a calm summers evening with all the birds settling down to roost around you. The only caution is, if you have mobility problems, the circular staircase could be a bit challenging.
The cottage is close to all the best walking routes in the White Peak area, many from the door so the car can have a rest too. And be sure to try Frank's breakfast spot in the nearby village on a Fri, Sat or Sunday.

"Plusses: Well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and sofa, ample parking, pub close by and friendly locals in a great spot for exploring the peaks."
I loved the wood burner and mainly booked this place for the outdoor bath. Good directions and communication including guides in the cottage.
Minuses: The fridge is on the fritz, turned to max setting but milk and chicken went off so waste of food/money and nothing felt cold, this was disappointing given it was a heat wave.
The property was just inundated with insects and spiders and webs including the bathroom, which felt unclean.
The spiral staircase is an injury waiting to happen and added to the many stairs to get to the back not a place for people with mobility difficulties.
The water tank is too small to fill either bath with a hot enough bath to suit me, the outdoor one is large so you sit in 4 inches hot water and get cold in 5-10minutes, disappointing and the main reason why Id not stay here again.
Thank you for your comments.
Regarding the fridge this has not been an issue before, the fridge works perfectly but I will double check this. The spiral staircase & steps to rear garden is described in the description & can clearly been seen on the photos, purely for people with mobility issues considering booking this so im not quite sure why this negative comment .The emersion heater is a proper sized tank for a normal functioning bath, the outdoor bath has a manual of clear instructions to follow.
Given the heatwave & the woodland area our property sits in, there are insects & spiders, this is what to expect in the countryside. The cottage is always cleaned thoroughly, I can assure you, which is always mentioned in past reviews so unfortunately I am quite shocked by your review, given the state the bedding was left in & general untidiness.

"Lovely cottage within walking distance of Milldale."
Spotlessly clean with good quality bedding, towels and kitchen utensils. It was a very cold week but the hosts were generous and made sure we had enough wood to keep the cottage warm and the log burner was very effective. .
Bed was extremely comfortable and the booster boiler provided hot water for baths and kitchen use.
Sadly, it was too cold a week to sit out on the upper tier of the garden but when it's milder and you're there then you're in for a treat as the view from the bistro table and chairs is lovely. There are lots of lovely objects outside the front door and upper garden to look at.
A comfortable stay. Thank you.

"Lovely cozy cottage with all we needed."
Great area for walks from the doorstep or taking the car to some of the market towns. Woodburner kept us nice and warm, outdoor table and chairs were an added bonus for some alfresco dining and the outdoor bath was fantastic for a soak under the stars listening to the tawny owls. Although the designated parking space is opposite the cottage and a few metres up an adjacent road you can still see/ check on your vehicle with ease from the property, so not of concern to us for the duration of our stay. In fact we forgot about the car, left it where it was most days and thoroughly enjoyed the walking and landscape. Would happily return for another stay in the future.

"We had a wonderful stay at Rock Cottage."
The bijou accommodation had everything you could need. The log burner made it additionally cosy. Great location for lots of local walks so didn't need the car much. Can easily walk to Milldale, Dovedale, Wetton, over to Ilam, along river etc. Two very good pubs within walking distance. The owner responded very quickly to an issue and brought additional logs. Only thing I would say is the cottage might not suit a very tall person due to the sloping ceiling in the kitchen (unless you want to get out of the washing up!).
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at the cottage & explored the beauty of the local area & what it has to offer.
Many Thanks

"Amazing cottage very well equipped and so comfortable."
The food left in the fridge was a really nice touch and much appreciated. We had a lovely 4 nights in the cottage and the snow we had was amazing. Will definitely recommend this property to other people.
The only thing is with the snow/ice the steps out front got very slippery and also the drain out the back from the kitchen sink was leaking the washing up water all over the floor by back door.
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay & got to experience the beautiful surroundings during the snowy period. With regards to the steps, obviously the weather was very cold during your time there & ice is to be expected on all surfaces but we will take this on board, going forward. The drain is also now fixed, so thank you for pointing this out to us. We do value our customers comments.
Best wishes

"What a wonderful stay we had at this amazing little cottage, I really think that they should consider changing the name to Cosy Cottage because our stay was while a named storm was hitting the area so our outdoor activities were limited."
Hence we made the most of that fabulous fireplace and snuggled in. When we did walk, we had the option of the River Dove and River Manifold and didn’t have the need to drive anywhere. Anther added bonus were three amazing pubs all within walking distance too.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The cottage is very cosy during the winter months & the pubs are a welcome bonus
