  • "Robins Nook is the perfect retreat!"

We loved the location, close to the market square for slow, relaxed days but also close to lots of walks such as the tissington trail which you can start from the doorstep, Dovedale and Carsington Water. Lots of great pubs and coffee shops for food and drink available nearby. Suzanne and Phil have equipped the cottage with everything you could possibly need, we brought far more with us than we needed to as they'd already thought of it all! We found parking on the nearby carpark super easy, purchasing a rover pass which also allowed us to park on other public car parks all over Derbyshire. The welcome pack for us and our dog were really appreciated and also amazing quality. We'll definitely be back to this lovely home from home!

  • "My partner and I spent a cosy week at Twixtmas at Robin's Nook."

She seeing family, me working from my home away from home. We felt very "at home" in this very well-equipped little house on three floors. The flow of the house, with kitchen on the ground floor, living room on first and bedroom up top meant it was lovely to come home to after a Winter walk. Facilities were great. I don't think the listing mentions the washing machine but we were glad of it as we were trying to travel light. Would book again without hesitation.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this house."

Great fun to be literally a few steps from the centre of town, and also fabulous access to the Tissington Trail cycle route as well as roads into the Peak District. Lovely, helpful touches and treats for our dog too, as well as the welcome tray for us. It was really good to have the bike lock up in the back yard too with very easy in and out through the shared access door. All very comfortable, stylish and beautifully presented. The road noise is a thing at certain times of day, but the windows are extremely effective at damping most of it out. We could have done with some extra storage or hooks for wet coats and muddy boots.

  • "Robin's Nook is a lovely holiday cottage with everything we needed."

It is very close to all the amenities of Ashbourne. We bought, in advance, the 7 day car parking ticket and parked our car in the Auction Close car park which was a very short walk through the church grounds back to Robin's Nook. There are plenty of buses easily available to get to the surrounding area. The cottage is very clean and welcoming, lots of treats: milk, eggs, bread, cheese, butter, wine left for us and treats for our dog too. A huge thank you.

  • "Had a great stay at this lovely place, set right in the centre of Ashbourne."

The welcome we received, in terms of both communication and the items kindly left for us, was second to none and really appreciated. The cottage is small but stylishly set out, and had everything we needed to feel like a home from home; highly recommended!

  • "Very well equipped and the welcome gifts were superb."

Only drawback was it was very hot so had to have bedroom window open and road noise was an issue. Robins Nest was well situated and Sammy enjoyed the park where he could run free. A convenient position to explore Derbyshire, we enjoyed our stay

  • "The attention to detail at Robin’s Nook is superb."

Upon entering the property it’s obvious it’s well looked after. There was butter, cheese, strawberries and milk in the fridge, scones and rolls in the bread bin and fresh eggs on the table. A small bottle of Prosecco completed the line up, and that’s just for us humans. The dog wasn’t left out and had his own welcome treats as well as other ‘essentials’! The kitchen is really well equipped and includes lots of things you don’t normally expect in a rental. The private courtyard garden is a sun trap and if you bring bikes there’s a storage shed. Upstairs the lounge is perfect for relaxing and up one more floor is a comfy bed. In the bathroom there’s plenty of shower gel and shampoo. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

  • "We found Robin's Nook to be warm, comfortable, well equipped and clean."

It is on a very busy road but double glazing in the lounge and bedroom cushioned us from road noise. It is close to shops and bars/restaurants and we were able to find free parking close by. It is also a bonus that you can unload immediately outside the property. You can walk and cycle directly from the house and the surrounding scenery is stunning. We would certainly book again.

The only thing that prevents a perfect score is the busiest and noisiest main road is on the doorstep, and no parking unless you pay in the public car park.

On arrival there was a generous welcome pack and the cottage was spotlessly clean. It was great to be able to walk to the local shops, pubs and cafes, everything is on your doorstep. We are keen cyclists and enjoyed the lanes of the Peak District to the north of Ashbourne, also using the Tissington Trail for easier rides. We recommend Robin's Nook as the ideal base for a cycling, or walking holiday in the Peak District.

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
