  • "We have just come home from a long weekend at Knoll Cottage."

We were two adults and a dog and the cottage was a perfect size for us. The location was great - a short walk to town, but far enough away that it’s a bit quieter. The house was clean, the kitchen was really well equipped and the bed and sofas were very comfortable. The towels smelt wonderful! The welcome chocolates were gratefully received and this is possibly the only place we’ve stayed at that has decent sized mugs and pint glasses! The only improvement I could suggest is having a bin with separate compartments in the kitchen to make recycling easier but it’s a small thing. Thanks for the relaxing holiday

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We always hope our guests feel comfortable and relaxed. Good tip regarding kitchen bin. Nick and Kim Property Owner

  • "What an outstanding stay."

I’ve stayed in dog friendly cottages before but the care and attention made to make you feel welcome was amazing. Chocolates and dog treats on arrival ….. everything provided in the kitchen (dish washer tablets, washing up liquid etc). The house was immaculate, and smelt lovely throughout. The little yard at the back was very secure. Location just brilliant. Even though there wasn’t parking at the property we had no problem finding a space. All in all very highly recommended

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We always hope and want our guests to feel comfortable and at home. Great to hear that’s how you felt at Knoll Cottage. Apologies for delay in response. Property Owner

  • "A lovely comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage with everything you need for self catering."

Good selection of TV options including Prime. Lovely posh chocolates and posh treats for dogs! Thank you. The shower is temperamental, it turns freezing cold or scolding hot for no reason. Personally we found the cottage noisy due to the road where it is situated. It really is very busy, constant flow of traffic from 6 am until 7 in the evening. The master bedroom would benefit from secondary glazing similar to the second bedroom. Parking was difficult, there didn't seem to be enough B parking bays for the amount of B parking permits! When we arrived we unloaded outside the cottage but it was quite dangerous due to being on a bend on the busy road. There is free parking for 2 hours 8am - 8pm behind the church, so overnight we managed to park there a few times and move the car at 10am. Word of warning.. a few people got tickets so they do check! Overall we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed Bakewell and the surrounding areas. Thank you.

Thanks for your feedback. Apologies for the shower. It seems that being an electric shower, it can be affected by water being used in other parts of cottage such as washing machine, dishwasher, loo flushing etc. Our next project will be to redo the upstairs and we intend to remove the electric shower. We’re also intending to replace the windows with double glazing so that should help with the noise. Bakewell does tend to be very busy in the summer months and parking is at a premium and can be tricky. Yeld Road (first on left after cottage) has unrestricted parking. Sorry that these issues impacted your stay but pleased to hear you enjoyed Bakewell and the surrounding area. Nick and Kim Property Owner

Very nice property a short walk from the town centre Very comfy beds No garden space which we knew when booking, but the private courtyard at the back is fully secure for the dogs Top tip, you can park your car right outside the cottage when unloading your stuff, then move it up the road afterwards, rather than parking at the top and then trying to carry everything down

Thank you so much for your review. Really pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay Nick and Kim Property Owner

  • "Superbly located near the heart of the village, it's just a 2 min walk to the centre of Bakewell."

The house is well laid out and some lovely touches like the owners phone numbers and a small box of chocolates greeted us as we entered. There is everything you need in the kitchen, you shouldn't need to bring anything with you. We loved spending time in the house when we had some down time from walking or spending time in the village. Bakewell is well located for trips to Buxton, Matlock and Matlock Bath, and many more places to visit in the lovely Peak District. We plan to visit Knoll Cottage again this year, so I suppose that's as good a recommendation as anyone can give.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We’d love to have you back. Bakewell and the surrounding area is lovely to visit. Nick and Kim Property Owner

  • "First the corner cupboard above the toilet is dangerous."

The first morning on bending my head to use the toilet I cut the top of my head badly and there was a lot of blood. My head is still tender and sore.At other times during our stay my son and I hit our head several times forgetting it was there. It needs a piece of foam put on the corner and a mind your head sign. The main light in the main bedroom was annoyingly dim and the single beds in the other bedroom were uncomfortable and that room was noisy from the boiler in the bathroom.I sent an e mail to your company about this but it was returned.I feel a part refund is necessary

Thanks for your feedback. We have never had any issues raised before about the cupboard above the toilet, but following your feedback, we have stuck a warning sign on the cupboard and also attached a foam corner protector as suggested. We have changed the bulbs in the main bedroom to be brighter We cant do much about the noise from the boiler - we find that with both doors closed it is fairly minimal. In a small cottage it is difficult to have the boiler remotely located. Property Owner

  • "We loved the house."

We could see you’d put a lot of thought into it. It was very nice to see the chocolates and appreciated your telephone numbers clearly seen on the table. The only thing we thought for improvement was to have the bedside lights a little brighter especially in the double bed room as reading in bed wasn’t possible with them. A small thing though as we loved our stay.

Delighted you enjoyed your stay. We have changed the bulbs in the bedside lamps following your review - having feedback is very helpful for us to improve what we provide for your holidays. Thanks again Property Owner
