  • "Mouse cottage is a charming cottage."

Everything that you could want has been thought about and provided. The location is a perfect base for exploring and it’s only a few minutes walk into the town centre to pick up groceries or go for a meal. We loved our stay here.

  • "Mouse Cottage is one of the most charming and finest cottages that we’ve ever stayed at."

Lisa’s effort and attention to detail is second to none. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped and every comfort is provided for. The welcome pack was remarkable. The steep steps can be a little challenging for people with mobility issues but these have been covered in the description. So much to do in and around Bakewell which is within easy access on foot. A good variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. A most memorable weeks stay.

Hi Maralyn, thank you so much for your lovely review, it really does mean alot! You and Eddie were fantastic guests, an absolute pleasure to host and I would love to welcome you back to Mouse Cottage if you are ever visiting the area again in the future. Best wishes, Lisa Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage situated perfectly for exploring Bakewell and the surrounding Peak District."

The welcome hamper was a really nice touch, full of local produce including a delicious Bakewell tart from the local pudding shop. The cottage was really well equipped with all the necessary essentials, however being provided with only 2 bath towels for 4 nights without a tumble dryer was a bit tricky, having to reuse the same damp towel. I would suggest leaving more for future guests. This is down to personal preference but we did find the use of air fresheners in the cottage a bit overbearing. Within 24 hours of being in the property I developed a sore throat and runny nose which seemed to improve when I was out of the cottage. Like I said, personal preference but some people do have allergies. We found the steep steps leading down to the back door a bit tricky but this is mentioned in the property description online. We had a fantastic stay in the cottage despite the above and would consider staying again in the future.

  • "The owner of this cottage has thought of every comfort for their guests -I have stayed in many holiday cottages over the last 40 years but never felt so much the focus on the guest -from a lovely local welcome basket to the fancy coffees/toiletries for guests to use."

The cottage was immaculate, well kitted out, quirky, and the extra room outside -the summer house- was a lovely treat to enjoy being outside yet still cosy and supplied with everything you could need.

Hi Helen, thank you so much for your really lovely review, it means alot. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and the facilities that Mouse cottage offers. You were a great guest and I would love to welcome you back again if you are ever visiting the Peak District in the future. Best regards, Lisa Property Owner

  • "This cottage is superb."

So well catered for with everything thought of. The welcome pack was better than anything you get in a five star hotel. The location to the town was excellent. The summer house was better equipped than some cottages I have stayed in. I would highly recommend Mouse Cottage as long as you can handle a few steep steps down to it from the car parking spot.

Hi Simon, thank you for your lovely review, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Mouse cottage and its facilities. You and Megan were great guests and an absolute pleasure to host. I hope to welcome you back if you are ever visiting the Peak District again in the future. Best wishes, Lisa Property Owner

  • "A lovely, well equipped cottage, perfect for a couple, or 3 adults, as the second bed is a small double."

All very comfortable, and a wonderful welcome pack. Lots of interesting decor in the cottage. The garden room was lovely for a cuppa in the afternoon. You really have thought of everything.

Hi Steven, thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so pleased you and Ali enjoyed your stay. It has been a pleasure to host you and you are welcome back any time! Best wishes, Lisa Property Owner

  • "We love Bakewell and come each time we are in the UK."

Parking is always tricky and if you can manoeuvre narrow lanes there is great room for even a largish vehicle at Mouse Cottage (our hire car was an MG SH). How would we describe Mouse Cottage? Quirky with good modern amenities. Lisa goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and is very responsive if you have questions. Why not 5*? Because it does have steep steps inside and out though front door access is at street level. Good for active minutes on my watch but tricky for my sister-in-law. Still, we enjoyed wine on the middle deck watching Jackdaws nesting in the adjacent chimneys and the Summer House is brilliantly equipped albeit up three flights of stairs. Why Bakewell? Because the facilities are great (including food opportunities) and access to dale walks is on the doorstep. On top of that one has Chatsworth, a short drive away (or bus ride on open top double deckers which my sister-in-law used). Chatsworth Farm Shop is worth a visit, the Chatsworth House is stunning and the food and service at The Devonshire Arms at Pilsey was excellent. If that was not enough, access to Monsal Trail is good and bike hire available at hasp Station. Bird watchers (like us) have Derwent River and Lathkill dale walks to enjoy. We'll be back!

  • "Beautiful cottage with very thoughtful attention to detail."

The owners left a wonderful welcome pack full of treats and were very good communicating about check in and instructions about parking. The cottage is close to everything in Bakewell with a lovely alternative route via the meadow and brook to the centre of Bakewell or straight along the road for 5/10 minutes. Lovely area and the Peak District never disappoints.
