We had a wonderful stay in Belper to catch up with family.

Halfways not only lived up to but exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived. The cottage was spotless, everything we needed was provided from a high chair and baby bath, to a wonderful basket of treats in the kitchen. The patio area was perfect for a morning coffee, the living room for relaxing in the evening and very comfortable beds! Belper is a lovely town with a wide range of cafés and independent shops and the walk through the woods from the cottage to the market square was perfect. Thank you so much.

Perfect place to stay with easy access to the Peak District National Park, Derby, Stoke, Nottingham and the surrounding area. Lovely welcome basket containing the basics so you don’t feel rushed into shopping for essentials on arrival. Host touches base via text so you know how to easily get I. Touch if there’s a problem. Would highly recommend.

The cottage was exceptionally clean and the welcome basket amazing. There were plenty of "extras" including dog treats! Vannessa was extremely helpful. We haven't booked with Sykes before but if Halfways is an example of your cottages we will definitely book again.

We have stayed at Halfways before which is why we returned, we love the walk through the park to the town which is only over the road from the cottage.

But that wouldn't make us go back if the cottage wasn't so clean and pleasant to stay in which it is. The added bonus is the lovely welcome pack that is there on arrival Belper is a really lovely town and everyone is so nice and a good base to visit the surrounding area

Great welcome pack and very nice accommodation

Halfways was very clean and comfortable.

There are 3 bedrooms; one double and two single. Downstairs consists of a cosy lounge and what I thought was a very well equipped kitchen. Also downstairs is a shower and tpilet. There is a small outside seating area, which overlooks fields. We were able to park two cars on the driveway. I was texted by the owner, Vanessa, to inform me that we could go into the premises a few hours before the 3pm entry time. There was a very generous welcome pack, probably one of the best I have seen. A few metres down the road is the entrance to Belper park and woods. Very handy if you are a dog owner. A 20 minute walk through these woods brings you into Belper Town. It's obvious the owner has put a lot of thought into making this accommodation cosy and homely.

We had a lovely stay at Halfways.

Everything was provided that we could possibly need and the house was very clean. We loved the location as there is a big park a few steps away, perfect for our dogs and a great way to walk into the centre of Belper. So much to see and do a short drive from Belper.

Great location for access town and brilliant walking country. Local hostelries and restaurants are all excellent.

I had a really comfortable stay and I was able to bring my dog.

The welcome hamper was a lovely thought and I enjoyed my bottle of wine! The bed was very comfortable and I slept really well.

Everything you need for a stay (well equipped kitchen). We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again. Nice area for dog walks and easy to get to town. Theres also places of interest for a local day out by car.

Everything you need was there reverse up to drive is better but not a problem. Heating by hive so can adjust temp as needed which was a bonus. Rooms comfy we only used double. Bathroom could be a bit cold but we left doors open and it was fine would stay again +++

Lovely place to stay with comfy, cozy beds and a super location.

Older kids were able to go and explore and play in the park over the road, and there is so much to do in Belper. Great location with a corner shop less than 10 mins walk away. We managed to park an outlander and a work van on the drive, but it can be tricky to do so if there is a lot of traffic. Plenty of street parking available though. All in all a super Stay, a very generous arrival gift and Vanessa was a total delight to deal with throughout. Highly recommended!!

Sorry to say the cottage needed some improvement ref, the bathroom and toilet.

the lighting was very poor in the toilet in fact there was no light in there there was no heating in toilet and Bathroom which was very cold at times. also you had no spot to hang clothes when in shower. There was no furniture in the one bedroom so you didn't have anywhere to hang your clothes.

Hallways is a ‘home from home’ cosy cottage which is located ideally for exploring Belper.

The welcome basket full of goodies left by Vanessa was bye far the best we’ve received in all the years we’ve been visiting cottages around the UK, and it was most appreciated.

Excellent cottage.

Everything you want from a holiday cottage and more. The welcome basket was very comprehensive and welcome. Lots of dog walks nearby. We enjoyed Dovedale. The local pubs were very welcoming.

We really enjoyed staying at Halfways cottage it was very clean and comfortable.

Not to far to walk into town, uphill if you went by road, but an easier route through Belper Park which was really nice as we had a dog with us and my partner is 84,it took us about 20 minutes. We rarely go back to the same cottage twice but can honestly say we will return to Halfways

Halfways is a very comfortable house set in a quiet location but just a short walk away from Belper town.

There’s a lovely wooded park entrance a few metres down the road, we walked our dog there and although some parks can feel uninviting in the evenings, that wasn’t the case here as there were usually other dog walkers about. We arrived to a very generous welcome hamper…bread, eggs, milk, a multipack of crisps, wine, biscuits. It really was the best hamper we’ve ever had. The outside area has no grass at all so if your dog likes to pee on grass (ours does

This is a lovely cottage and Vannessa the owner goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome.

There is a welcome hamper (including a bottle of wine!) and a few staples in the fridge, such as milk and butter. She even provides shampoo and other bathroom essentials. Truly a thoughtful host. Possibly the only downside to think about is that there is only one toilet in the property, downstairs, so visiting the loo during the night can be a challenge - although, again, a good torch is provided by the host! All in all, a very enjoyable stay and a very helpful, kind host.

A fabulous comfortable cottage, very clean and tidy, very well located for exploring Belper and Derbyshire in General.

Belper itself is quite hilly so probably a location for the more active holidaymakers, who can negotiate the steep inclines. In common with most Sykes properties the host left some goodies to get us started, but on this occasion it must win the prize for the best hamper ever!! It was really wonderful! The host was very friendly and on hand if any issues occurred. Highly recommended.

The house was lovely.

It was warm, clean and comfortable. There was even water chilling in the fridge for the dog. Parking was brilliant, so handy to unload and the welcome basket was very generous. The house is handy for a woodland walk and not far from the town centre. Altogether it was great.

A lovely small cottage that was comfortable, clean & had everything you would need for a pleasant stay.

Particularly liked the basket of food / goodies that was available for us - really enjoyed these. Have loved being there - this was our fourth stay over the past few years. Would highly recommend this property.

Halfways is a lovely cottage within walking distance to the centre of Belper.

The owner left us a comprehensive hamper which was very welcome. She was readily available should we have any problems-which we didn’t. The cottage itself was lovely and clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The added bonus was the outside courtyard for sitting out. Belper itself is a busy market town with plenty to do for our weekend. We highly recommend this property.

What a fantastic find!

Wonderful holiday home within walking distance to Belper. The home was fully equipped with everything you could need, best stocked kitchen we've seen! But if you dont fancy cooking lots delicious takeaways and eateries neary by. Super dog friendly home and the woodland park opposite is brilliant. There are also so many places to walk your dog very short drives away, spoilt for choice. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend

Even a welcome hamper which we weren't expecting with lots of goodies in. So clean, tidy and comfortable for us all, including the dog who just loved her stay. We will certainly be back again.

A lovely little home in the friendly and historic town of Belper.

Definitely worth staying at, with the wonderful leafy Belper Park two doors away which also leads you into the town. Excellent spot for your base with easy roads into the Peak District or to enjoy the local walks and wonderful scenery.

Halfways is an extremely comfortable and welcoming cottage.

It is within easy walking distance of the centre of charming Belper and well situated to explore the Peak District. The owner is so helpful and leaves a very generous welcome pack. All in all, a delight.

Very nice and warm cottage welcome pack provided was very good less than 10 minutes stroll through the park to shops cafes etc children aged 11 and 9 loved their rooms good location for attractions 30 minutes drive to childrens museum matlock farm chattsworth house we now have family in the area and this is a property we will use again

The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived - much appreciated during the cold spell.

As others have said, the welcome pack was very generous and much appreciated ( the best ever!) The kitchen was well equipped. Loved the large fluffy bath towels and the easy access to the tumble dryer meant we always had warm, dry towels. The walk through the Parks ( just down the road and turn left) was lovely on a frosty morning and brought us into the Market Place ( electric car chargers available) We always enjoy visiting family and friends in Belper and the was cottage was well placed for this.I Even though this was a dog friendly home there was no 'doggy ' smell which we appreciated as we don't have a dog!

It has an interesting and individual feel to it, and we were pleasantly warm there, which we were very grateful for because the weather was not the best when we stayed. We felt that our dogs were very welcome which meant a lot to us, so we were able to relax and enjoy our break away

Lovely walks right on the doorstep as well as interesting places to visit within easy reach. Excellent welcome pack and friendly owner who messaged us to say the cottage was ready early. A little more shower room and toilet privacy might be useful but that was the only small snag - apart from the difficulty of the entrance which just needs careful negotiation!

I had the best week ever in Half Ways cottage .

It was warm ,clean , and very comfortable. Vanessa the owner , had put so much thought in providing everything we would need for a weeks stay . A welcome pack with milk , bread ,butter , jam ,eggs ,wine ,biscuits , and more !, Also dog treats for a dog ,dog bed , dog towels ,bowls ,and lead ! The rest of the cottage was equally well equipped , plus private enclosed patio garden with seating etc . Good location - nice park across the road for dog walking .,and path into the town . Only downside for anyone with mobility issues is that it’s a hilly area.

The property was lovely and had everything we needed plus a bit more.

The walk through the woods was fantastic for our dogs . Only issues we had was there was no mention on listing re hilly area and the access to town if walking for a couple with some health issues. And some issues with parking and neighbours we struggled to get our vehicle into the two car parking space due to this.

Everything was so good it was like being in your own home, very comfortable stay and all the treats left was a lovely bonus.

HALFWAYS is everything that we could have wanted and more.

The house itself was extremely clean throughout and everything was thought of and catered for, from the egg cups in the kitchen down to spare toiletries in the bathroom. Bedrooms were very comfortable, even though we didn’t use the two singles. Very good access with the driveway right outside which made life a lot easier. Excellent base to explore, Matlock and Matlock bath, also a day in the gorgeous Bakewell and Belper was just as beautiful. Activity wise these were all within a short driving distance and the heights of Abraham absolutely worth the cable car ride !!! Well done to our host Vanessa, thinking of everything, including the ample greeting hamper and dish of sweeties, just a shame we both didn’t get through it all, but always a next time aand also a great eye to detail to. Quite literally a home from home. We shall be back again with the fur babies

Really nice place to stay.

Accommodation was clean & tidy & the kitchen had an ample supply of utensils/ kitchen ware..Comfortable lounge furniture & the double bed was also comfortable. Nice private small rear garden with parking for 2 cars @ the front garden. In addition to the above on arrival we were treated to a lovely welcome pack which included eggs, bread, biscuits, a bottle of wine etc. Also catered for dogs - a bed, treats , dog bags etc. my wife & I can highly recommend this accommodation- it was our third visit & it won’t be our last.

Firstly Belper and the surrounding area is just wonderful.

.. I have never visited an area so dog friendly, they are genuinely welcomed rather than tolerated. Halfways the accommodation... Perfect. So much thought has gone into this cottage to ensure you have absolutely everything that you could possibly need. I can honestly say that the only negative part of this cottage was that we had to leave it and return home. We were privileged to meet Vannessa who runs Halfways, what a wonderful and sincere lady she is, it is no surprise that this cottage is so perfect with such a wonderful and caring owner. The big question is would we return? Absolutely... as many times as we possibly can !!

The cottage is beautifully decorated, very homely and clean.

The location is brilliant - just a stone’s throw away from some beautiful country walks around Belper or a short drive from Matlock and Bakewell. The beds were really comfortable and we enjoyed being able to sit outside and have a coffee in the garden. The treats left out for when we arrived was a lovely surprise and the Wi-Fi and smart tv were great for later on in the evenings. 10/10 would recommend

Everything you needed was there. Beds were very comfortable as were the sofas. Great base to explore the Derbyshire Dales from. Loved Dovedale and Matlock Bath especially. Would love to return again.

While we were there in Feb and not able to make use of the outdoor space, can see this would be lovely in the warmer weather. Close to the centre of Belper, near the park. I'am very happy I did, the Halfways cottage was a wonderful place to stay for are visit to the Nottingham and the area. The cottage owner had left a welcome package that was much appreciated after along drive. The cottage was very clean and well kitted out. Would stay again at Halfways Cottage.

Somewhere which my Dad, brother and I all enjoyed staying. Well positioned close to the town centre.

Halfway cottage is absolutely delightful.

It was extremely clean. On arrival there was a very generous welcome pack from Vanessa, the owner. The cottage is so comfortable, really well equipped. We couldn't think of anything we needed that wasn't supplied. There was even dog bed and towels for our dog, along with a variety of treats which she enjoyed. There is a lovely wooded nature trail just across the road, ideal for dogs and a short walk into the town of Belper, with great shops cafes and pubs. We can highly recommend this cottage and the area. Great location for exploring Derbyshire.

The property from the beginning was great.

We had a text from the property owner to say the cottage was ready at about 11am. The details about the cottage were spot-on. We walked into a house that was very welcoming and spotless. We were met by a welcome pack of food and wine that was amazing. The cottage had everything that you would want and more. The owner had thought of everything, including a dog bed, treats and towels. The garden was small but as described and there was even a park across the road to walk the dog. We would recommend this property to anyone.

A super little cottage, on the edge of the town; very welcoming and comfortable.

We were only staying for a few days so didn't want to do much travelling - being able to walk back and forth into the town (through a lovely wooded park) was ideal for us and our dog. The weather wasn't good so we didn't get to enjoy the patio area at the back which was a shame as it looked inviting.

A great welcome pack , even left treats for dogs. The owner is lovely, friendly and helpful. Well equiped kitchen. Small but pretty courtyard and even in the winter nice to sit and have a coffee in the morning. There is everything you need here for a long or short stay. Comfy beds and fluffy towels. Really clean. Well placed for walks and for getting into town. Cut straight through woods and park and within 10 mins you are in the town with all the facilities you could need. Would book again.

The owner very generously left welcome snacks, drinks and essential basic groceries. The dogs were catered for as well with bed dishes & treats. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.

The cottage was spotless, has everything you possibly need although we always take everything with us there was no need this time. We travelled from fife to visit family, great location for all site seeing and great walks for your dogs. Belper park we done every day, so many entances and nice shortcut to the town centre. Hallways is a lovely cottage to stay in.

Spotlessly clean, stylish and everything you need. Very pretty decked garden at rear to sit in with table and chairs etc as well as long driveway with stone walls at front. Generous welcome pack and doggy treats, bed etc. Vanessa the owner is lovely. My partner left his wallet on the day we left and Vanessa rang us immediately she found it and kindly posted it to us by special delivery on the day we left. So kind and helpful. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Very happy and want to stay at Halfways cottage again in the not too distant future.

Very welcoming and a lovely property.

The nature reserve just across the road was perfect for the dogs, as was the enclosed back garden. We spent a day exploring Belper itself but also great access to the southern Peak District and the Derwent Valley.

What a fabulous holiday home, as soon as, we walked in we felt very comfortable and relaxed.

The welcome pack was amazing and they had thought of everything to make our arrival perfect. Even treats for our dog and later found out they had provided dog towels too. The house is in a perfect location, there is a lovely forest park less than a min walk to take your dog, fully shaded with a little stream which was perfect for the very hot days. You can walk through this park to get into Belper which is a beautiful town with lots of pubs and shops. Also Belper river gardens which are beautiful and if you're lucky you may get to see the peregrine falcon. Back to the house, we didn't want for anything with regards to amenities, the garden/yard is beautiful with a lovely seating area and lots of flowers, if there had been a parasol it would have been even better as there was no shade in nearly 30 degree sun/heat. Would definitely return.

Wonderful cosy holiday cottage equipped with everything you need.

Spotlessly clean with a lovely outside decking area great for breakfast in the mornings or a glass of wine early evening. A lovely surprise to find a more than generous welcome pack on arrival. Cottage is situated opposite a lovely woodland walk so great for dogs or walk into town. We used public transport throughout our stay using Wayfarer day tickets which allow you to travel throughout Derbyshire on buses and trains. Would highly recommend a stay at Halfways.

This is a delightful cottage located within a few minutes walk of the town.

Probably the best stocked cottage we have been in, which was much appreciated. It was clean, warm and cosy and the generous welcome pack was a lovely surprise. There are a few great walks directly from the cottage which meant no need to drive and many tourist attractions only a short drive away. Would definitely recommend Halfways.

If you want a holiday in Derbyshire, this is the place to stay, very clean and comfortable, everything you need is provided, a very generous welcome pack, if you are taking a dog, they get 5 star treatment too.

If we ever have the opportunity to visit Derbyshire, this is the place we'd want to stay.

The cottage had an efficient central heating system & we liked the close proximity to Belper- could take a 5 -7 minute walk through a small wood to reach the town or a few minutes longer by road. Would certainly recommend this property & likely to return @ some future date.

Stayed at Halfways for New Year/Birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed it, very cosy and clean.

Heating was on when we arrived which was very welcoming.The cottage is well equipped throughout, and welcome pack was outstanding, even goodies for the dogs!! Ideal location , the owner had decorated for christmas which was loverly , will definitly stay again.

This cottage is lovely.

It is beautifully decorated with lots of homely touches. There was a Christmas tree and lovely decorations in the lounge. It was Home from home. There was even an extensive welcome pack... Eggs, bread, milk, biscuits, a bottle of wine and lots of nicies. The cottage is exceptionally clean with all the amenities you could think of. It was handy having a driveway too. The owner of the cottage, Vanessa is a lovely lady and really helpful. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Halfway- exceeded expectations.

The exceedingly generous welcome package and superbly equipped kitchen (you could easily cook a Christmas dinner, with what was available in this kitchen). Clear information (posted, where you need it) throughout cottage, explaining where to find or what was behind the door. Easily the cleanest cottage we have stayed in. Owners got in touch on arrival day, so you had a contact if there was a problem. Happily, book this again, if staying in area.

Everything you could possibly need has been provided and the location is perfect for exploring the Peak District. Across the road is a wooded walk with a short cut through to the shops. Nonno's Italian restaurant and Beaurepaire tea shop are a must!

The cottage was comfy but the down stairs toilet had no door on or should i say there was a door a sliding door that was not working.

Lovely house in great condition.

Two playgrounds on the doorstep for the kids and a lovely dog walk through the woods. Excellent base to explore Derbyshire and the Peak District.
