A very traditional stone cottage with comfortable areas and fittings.

A huge garden, superb for sunny days and children playing. Very quiet location in the village of Biggin, good pub The Waterloo only 5 mins walk, serving good, tasty pub food. Great walks, jogs from frontdoir to Hartington, Tissington Trail and many more. Incredibly peaceful location. The cottage is so much bigger than anticipated. The second bedroom is off the main bedroom so privacy is limited. Would definitely revisit as the area is wonderful.

Been there a few times now, lovely cottage with a great garden in quaint little village with a good pub two minutes away.

Bus stop just outside to lots of areas of the Peaks if you fancy a break from driving, loved it every time and we would definitely go back.

Church View is a lovely and peaceful cottage right next to the church in a beautiful area.

Lovely garden full of flowers. We had a wonderful time exploring the wonderful Peak District. Unfortunately it rained every day. We went to the amazing Poole cave in Buxton. Explored the many beautiful villages. Walked around pretty Bakewell and ate the delicious Bakewell Pudding. Also enjoyed the town of Ashbourne. We would have liked to stay longer to explore more.

Great cottage and good base for exploring the south of The Peak District.

Beautiful old stone cottage, in a peaceful Peak District village.

We had a comfortable and relaxing stay and even enjoyed the lovely garden in a spell of sunny weather. We loved the log burner which made evenings cosy and the well equipped kitchen. Great location for visiting Buxton and enjoying the amazing peaks in this area. Can recommend the Roaches and Dove Dale but there are many more. We would love to come back to this cottage again.

Good communication with owner lovely location, we visited in February during a cold snap and found the cottage warm whilst heated but very cold during the nights once heating was turned off as capped at 4pm to 10pm we did contact the owner with regards to this however they could not extend the heating longer and offered to bags of logs for fire and blankets instead which was appreciated.

A great cottage but be aware it can be cold during the night in winter months as the owner controls the heating and you are unable to regulate it.

Comfortable cottage with great walks and cycling straight out the door.

Nice kitchen with plenty of cooking and serving dishes. Comfortable beds although one was quite creaky. Friendly local pub within 5 minutes walk with good ales. Was very cold outside when we were there with snow but after communication with the owner, we were toasty warm in the evenings with a cosy log burner in the lounge. Great communication throughout with the owner

Church View was a very clean and comfortable cottage.

It was very cosy on cold autumn evenings. The facilities for our two children (1 and 4) were brilliant. We've never stayed in such a well-equipped cottage for them. They both loved the range of books and toys, the rocking horse, and the large garden. The welcome basket was very much appreciated and it was nice to have some treats to tuck into on arrival. The cottage was an ideal base for exploring bits of Derbyshire we'd not previously been to.

The beds were lovely and comfortable, fresh and clean.

Bathroom clean with a nice shower. Sofa's comfortable. If you like cobwebs, harvestmen, spiders and woodlice this is the place for you. Plenty of dust too! A spare bag for the hoover would have been handy as we almost filled it on our first day. Garden swarming with ants, we all got bitten trying to sit outside, so had to buy some ant spray as nothing like that was provided.shame the TV in the bedroom and the fire in the second lounge wasn't working did report to owner. Lovely location loved the history of the house shame the maintenance of the property was lacking.

Home from home Peaceful village convenient situated ,makes its ideal to visit area. OutsidePicture dosent do it justice , lovely gardens to relax in at end of day.

This was our fifth stay (June 2025) at 'Church view' over four years.

.so obviously we are very pleased with the cottage,. and the surrounding region for a holiday break. The cottage offers everything one needs and is ideal for a relaxing or more active hiking / cycling stay. During fine sunny days the extensive and beautiful 'cottage' gardens are as far as anyone needs to go,. on 'fair' days the stunning Derbyshire / Staffordshire countryside and its delightful walks and villages are all close by. Cosy and quiet 'Church view' supplies everything one needs for a week or a longer stay. Good TV for those that want it,. with a plentiful supply of DVDs books - and games. A rough trail gives an enjoyable two mile walk into 'Hartington'. For visitors wanting more of a 'town' day out,. then Buxton - Matlock - Ashbourne and Leek are all nearby. For those interested in the cottage history - a booklet can be read by the last resident giving a brief but fascinating account of hers', her family - and village life from back in the day. A spacious and delightful cottage set in beautiful green lane surroundings.

Overall we enjoyed our week once we worked out how best to use the facilities.

The church bell right next door was not noisy, it was a very nice garden and a comfortable cottage except we would have liked more control over the heating as it went off too early at 9:30 in the evening and the hot water in bathroom took far too long to come through in the basin.The front door was very difficult to lock and the freezer was caked up with ice and there was no bread bin. I wouldn't say these things spoilt our holiday but it showed it was not home from home.

The Cottage was very well equipped with everything you could need & the welcome treats were much appreciated. The gardens were very well maintained & outside space was fantastic. Although the cottage does need some updating it was cosy & the bed very comfortable. Thankyou for a wonderful weekend. We would definitely stay again.

We had a great stay at Church View, perfect location for cycling and walking.

The property is dated and could do with a make over but this would not stop me from returning. The bed was so comfy and the kitchen equipped with everything you need. I did love the garden so well looked after, I went and bought bird food as the amount of birds that came to the garden was great to see. I would say to the owners put and aerial on the TV in the bedroom, would have been nice to watch the news in bed some mornings.

We cut short our holiday a day earlier than planned as the cottage fell so far short of our expectations.

That choice was preferable to spending another day there. We have been taking UK cottage holidays for over 35 years and have never experienced accommodation quite as disappointing as Church View. I think it reasonable for us expect to be provided with somewhere clean, warm and comfortable to stay when booking holiday accommodation and definitely not having to share it with a colony of wood lice. And if the cottage is available for guests in the colder months then why on earth is access to the boiler controls kept under lock and key?

We had a brilliant stay at Church View cottage.

We visited with our 11 & 13yr old boys. The cottage was easy to find - compact & cosy, with everything we needed! It's an old house so some wear & tear and 'elderliness' to be expected, but importantly it was very clean and well stocked with all necessities. It was chilly given the weather, but the logburner was fantastic - easy to operate & clean and kept us warm and cosy after some long walks. The location is excellent. Some great walks from the door, and very accessible to the peak district for some fantastic walks - we would recommend the Biggin & Wolfsdale circular (10km from the door) as well as heading up Thorpe Cloud and on to Mildale along the river & over the Dovedale stepping stones (12km), a 10min drive away. Overall delighted with our stay - I did get in touch with Lynda upon arrival and she was very welcoming. Thank you!

We had an enjoyable and comfortable stay at Church View.

It is well placed for lots of activities and close to beautiful countryside. The cottage is particularly good for children with lots of toys and games provided and a large garden. It is also a quiet location with a popular pub nearby. The cottage was well equipped and with a good range of info. It might benefit from a little bit of investment but I think this is fairly reflected in the price and we found it comfy. Would say that although the heating was fine in the mornings, it never really came on at 17.00 due to the thermostat settings. This is OK if you don’t mind firing up the wood burner which makes the living room really cosy. Plenty of fuel was provided for this and the kids loved it but this might put me off going there in winter.

A quirky, comfortable cottage.

There is everything you would expect and the cottage is well kept, if a little dated, as has been said previously. The village is small, with good walking routes from the cottage and the pub does good food and has friendly staff.

This visit was our 'fourth' stay at 'Church view' within three years and once again - we as a couple - enjoyed everything about the cottage - it's location within beautiful Derbyshire and nearby Staffordshire countryside,.

with it's rolling green hills and narrow lanes,. and the cottages spacious gardens which is a delight to sit and relax with just the sound of birds - sheep and the hourly strike of the church bells.// Very well equipped with everything supplied that guests might need over their stay. The cottage is spacious inside with rooms and all equipment and utensils to cater for visitors of all ages. We would not hesitate to visit again as there is always some new footpath or village to discover.

This is a nice holiday cottage, not modern but in keeping with the surroundings.

The bus is extremely convenient almost o/s the door. We used it on three occasions in 6 days. The local pub is handy the food though is well ???. All the pubs in the area are reasonably but you need to book. The owner seems very nice although I haven't met her. She was very helpful. Derbyshire is very picturesque.

We loved every minute of our week at Church View, from the generous and thoughtful welcome pack that included home-baked goodies, to finding milk and eggs in the fridge, to the clean, tidy, and charming cottage itself.

The peaceful and beautifully laid out garden completed the package. Parking on the property was available, but we chose to park in the street with no issues. Our host Lynda initiated contact before we arrived and was in touch throughout. We felt both at home, and supported as guests. The kitchen was well appointed with all the items we needed, everything worked and was clean. The location of the cottage was ideal for us, with easy access to lovely walks of various lengths and difficulties (helpful maps and guides were provided), 5 minutes stroll to the pub, and close enough to Buxton and other attractions to be convenient, yet rural enough not to be overcrowded over the May bank holiday weekend. We did not have children with us but the cottage was ideal for them. The large enclosed garden provided plenty of space to play outside, and with two sitting rooms even rainy days would be good days as there were games, puzzles, books, CDs, DVDs, and TV on hand, as well as facilities for babies/toddlers including stair gates and a cot. Since the bedrooms are all upstairs, and the drive is gravelled, persons with mobility difficulties may struggle with access, though we all as "seniors" had no problems. We will be back, and we definitely recommend Church View.

Very well equipped cottage, lots of nice little touches for the children such as kids bedding, fairy lights, books, games. Cottage in need of some renovation and oven wasn't great, although hob was fine, but didn't affect our stay. Pub in the village was really accomodating for the kids and the playground in the village was also really good. Overall had a great time.

All the facilities are excellent and the log fire was extra special at making us all cosy after our long days exploring the Peaks. We really appreciated our welcome hamper, which was full of yummy goodies and considering it was my husbands 40th and Easter, the treats were very much welcomed. The location is excellent with local attractions and towns not too far away, which when you have kids who don’t like long journeys was a major plus. We highly recommend Church View to anyone, it has everything you could ask for and more. We would definitely love to come and stay again to explore the Peaks some more. Thank you for having us and making us feel very at home.

We stayed at church view for our family Christmas holiday and it exceeded expectations in every way.

We arrived and the cottage was decorated for us with lights and decorations making it instantly feel festive and magical. The welcome pack we were greeted with was the best we have ever had. The cottage itself had literally everything you could ever need and more. Warm, quiet and in the perfect location. The pub was just a couple of minutes walk away, was friendly and the food was delicious.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Church View which had everything we needed.

The welcome pack was lovely and the fire every evening was great and so easy to use and we found the bed very comfortable. We used the bus a couple of times to go to Buxton and Ashbourne very easy to do with the stop outside the property! Plenty of walking and pubs nearby although the ground is a bit wet at this time of year. We would definitely stay again but more likely May/June when we could enjoy the garden. There was only 2 of us but the property would have been great for us as a family when our children were younger!

Cosy little cottage.

Lovely log burner with plenty of logs. The owner was lovely and left washing up liquid and cloths and there was some tea and coffee and some lovely treats. It was very cold when we stayed with temperatures just above freezing. There was strict instructions not to mess with the heating settings. The heating didn’t come on until 6.30 pm. As it got dark at 4 pm we were coming to the cottage in freezing temperatures. The beds were not comfortable. Although the furnishings met our needs it didn’t give us the feel of walking into somewhere luxury or nice. For the price it was disappointing.

My daughter loved the books and toys to play with.I would highly recommend staying here its a lovely cottage and I will definitely return.

i have already sent a message to her ,the beds were uncomfortable the double was noisey when ever you moved so if one of us got uo in the night it would have disturbe the other we tried single beds one you could feel the springs ,we notice wood lice in the living room and one of the glasses had a chip and crack in it

We enjoyed a lovely and peacefully quiet stay at Church View, and would have enjoyed the lovely gardens had the weather been better!

It's great for kids, having various toys, books and games in the cottage, and it was great to have a proper cot in the cot room, rather than just a travel cot. It is a convenient location for exploring the White Peak/Derbyshire Dales area of the Peak District. We were let down by the washing machine not working, and as a family with a toddler using reusable nappies, we specifically choose holiday cottages with washing machines. Having handwashed the first load in the bath, the host washed the next 2 loads for us. Having read through the reviews again, it appears the washing machine has been out of action since at least April, and given the age of the machine it isn't surprising it's taking this long to get the part. I would suggest it either needs replacing, or removing from the list of facilities (although the host did say it was due to be fixed or replaced on the day we left, so this is something that should be confirmed before anyone books this cottage who needs a washing machine). In terms of issues raised by other people, we did not experience any issues with the WIFI, which worked well throughout our stay. The double bed was comfy, if somewhat bouncy, meaning you felt whenever the other person moved! The curtains are definitely thin, so let in a lot of light, however there are blackout blinds in the cot room as well, so it's not an issue in that room. The drive is difficult to get into, but was possible with our estate car; as others, and the hosts, have mentioned there are plenty of on street parking options. The radiators worked fine for us, and in fact got too hot to touch at times, so we turned a lot of them down, which mostly solved the problem.

I would love to have given a higher rating to this accommodation than I have but I think its important to keep the feedback as honest as possible as I always take into account feedback left by others when choosing a holiday destination.

The location of the property can not be faulted and the well maintained garden and outside setting is ideal. Also the lovely gifts left by the owner were a pleasant surprise. The problem was the lack of maintenance inside cracked tiles both in the kitchen and bathroom also one of the kitchen chairs is very wobbly and requires attention. The washing machine not working could be a major issue if you have young children. According to previous feedback this has been ongoing for at least five months. The TV in the bedroom isn't working and even the DVD on it fails to read any discs. For me no toilet brush in either the indoor or outdoor WC is a serious omission, and an easy and inexpensive one to remedy in fact we bought one ourselves locally for £4.99. It is a shame as most of the problems could be fixed with a little TLC and very little cash. Would I book this property again? As it stands today probably not but if the items mentioned above where sorted and a good maintenance program put in place then yes I would as it sits in such a beautiful area.

Church View is in a great location, perfect for exploring the beautiful Peak District.

The cottage was comfortable and very clean and had everything that you needed for your stay, with one exception - the washing machine was out of order - which although is not essential for a lot of people, was a nuisance for us as we particularly choose holiday properties that have one in order to deal with extra washing generated by our disabled son. However, we enjoyed our stay - the garden at the cottage is lovely and if you are after a peaceful and relaxing time then Church View has it all.

Church View is such a cosy and comfortable cottage with a large and pleasant garden to relax in.

It is set in a quiet village and has numerous really good walks from the door, access to the Tissington Trail being just up the road. It had everything we needed for a really pleasant stay. Thanks to the owner.

My husband and l had a lovely time at Church View cottage was cosy relaxing and peaceful, the garden was beautiful which we spent a lot of time in and had lovely walks and plus visited friends .

Would stay at cottage again Lynda the owner left some lovely treats which we enjoyed so thank you . The only thing the washing machine was not working and hadn't been since April wasn't a great problem to us but be if you had children, so diffantly needs sorting out. Stayed 9th to 16th June 2023.

This was our third stay at 'Church view',.

within a span of 13 months., so it is obvious that we enjoy everything about the cottage,. and in particular the large and beautiful gardens. One can laze in the sunshine with just the sounds of birds and occasional passing tractor, and the hourly chime of the church clock to remind you it's time for another cuppa'. It is an ideal and spacious property suited to just a couple or a larger family,. everything guests would ever need for a stay is supplied and the owner kindly leaves a 'welcome pack' of varying 'goodies' to start you off. Timed central heating and a log burner stove ensures cosy evenings. The whole of the surrounding countryside is stunning with nearby walks and quaint unspoilt villages for exploring. Biggin and the most lovely cottage itself is the ideal location for anyone wishing to take a stay in the area.

We appreciated the very light and spacious but homely feel of the cottage, with its 2 sitting rooms, and the large garden (which has multiple seating areas to enjoy in the warmer weather). The welcoming Coronation-themed refreshments from Lynda and Robin were much appreciated after our journey. It was our first visit to Biggin and we found it quiet and perfectly placed for local walks, as well as for easy access to the nearby A515 for explorations further afield in the beautiful Peak District. (We found parking on the drive fine for our smallish car once we got used to it, but there is plentiful on street parking for those with larger vehicles or who would find reversing round the bend in the drive tricky). Thankyou. We would love to return!

We had a lovely week in this spacious, picturesque cottage.

It was very comfortable, with a large and beautiful garden, and within a few minutes walk of a good walking trail (the Tissington trail). The owner very kindly left us a lovely "welcome pack", which we very much appreciated and enjoyed. We loved the peace and quiet of this property (especially as we live beside a busy main road!). We were not able to get a mobile signal at the property, however broadband worked fine.

The property is situated in an excellent but somewhat remote location.

We read the reviews and while in the main they were excellent there was one that was quite poor. So we decided to book, for us the poor one was the nearest to reality. We left early due to poor seating that while looking good in the photos has long since seen its best. We also found the beds uncomfortable. All the double glazed units have failed, a long time ago, so your view through the windows is one through condensation stained glass so it looks dirty and cannot be cleaned as the marks are inside the double glazed units The curtain rail in the small single bedroom was hanging off the wall In terms of fire safety all the bedrooms and one reception room are inner rooms and the twin room is and inner inner room. None of these rooms have escape windows and the fire alarm is not ideal with battery only operated smoke detectors being provided. I would suggest that a professional fire safety risk assessment in under taken and its findings implemented

My husband and I had a wonderful week staying at Church View. The spacious property is set in an attractive garden in a peaceful village. On arrival the welcome pack provided everything one needed after a long journey. We found the cottage to be clean and very comfortable. We would highly recommend Church View as a place to stay.

This is the quintessential English country cottage with a huge and most beautiful garden, so lovely that if the sun shines, you might never want to leave it, one might think the property consists of two or three dwellings - but it is one large cottage with plenty of storage and living space for a family.

Absolutely everything guests may need is supplied - in fact there were many items stashed in cupboards drawers and a bureau that we never used. Very comfortable furnishings - beds - sofa's - timed central heating and a most welcome wood burning stove which made for cosy evenings. A large selection of D.V.Ds - books and local area interest reading. All set within quiet Biggin village - a very good local pub with meals minutes walk away and surrounded by stunning countryside and all the 'must visit' many old and quaint Peak district villages. Close access from the cottage to lovely walks and trails - 'Biggin dale' and 'Wolfescote dale' and a track to 'Hartington' are all easy and nearby walking. A 'welcome pack' of food items to start visitors off was very useful. Everything was well maintained and immaculately clean upon arrival - we would visit again and highly recommend to anyone considering a Derbyshire cottage stay.

This cottage was absolutely perfect for our stay in the Peak District.

It was well equipped and had everything you could need for a toddler including stair gates which were very handy. The garden is big and secure and even has a little slide. It’s just off the Tissington Trial so perfect for walks or bike rides. The log burner was amazing and made the cold nights very cosy. -Very close to Hartington which has great pubs and a few shops - the cheese shop is a must! Biggin also has a pub which serves good pub food. My only small gripe is that the curtains are a little thin so do let quite a lot of light in. Linda was very helpful and gave us lots of information before we arrived. We will definitely return. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful cottage in a very quiet location ideally situated for walking, cycling and visits to such as Chatsworth, Haddon and Cromford.

Pub in village. Generous provision of towels, equipment such as iron and hairdryer, and welcome pack. Some minor points that may make a difference to some (but not to us): - stairs are very steep - second bedroom accessed through main bedroom - drive is very tight, but you can park on the street if preferred.

Charming cottage, fantastic location, lots of quirky features.

The second reception was a godsend. Beautiful large quiet garden. Some things a little bit dated but it was a very comfortable cottage. The log burner was a godsend and perfect for a cosy night in. Little welcome pack of treats upon arrival was a nice touch and very much appreciated. Only downside I could see was the driveway was very narrow, we didn't park on it The whole week but in fairness we parked a few yards around the corner outside the church so it wasn't such a big deal. I would definitely stay here again.

The cottage was very traditional and spacious enough with a new boiler and a nice garden but there were some definite areas of improvement needed.

The WIFI or rather the internet connection had a fault and was unreliable sometimes working and sometimes not. This is very important when you have no mobile signal and you have to book tickets for places we wanted to visit. We missed out on some due to this. Raised the fault with the owner who responded but it did not get fixed. The TV signal was poor meaning hardly any channels worked not even the radio channels. A freesat dish would be better to get a decent signal in this area. The adult bed was a double which is too small to fit two adults on it and the length was also small meaning ankles hanging over the edge. We had to swap with the kids but their mattresses were uncomfortable and you could feel the springs coming through. Back ache every morning and not a goods nights sleep. Some new mattresses needed and potential a larger one for the adults. Some of the curtain rails were broken and hanging off the walls. There was also curtains missing from one of the windows which let sunlight in early in the morning. Similar situation with the book shelves. The drive way is very narrow and the plants overgrown around this area. Reverse parking required a lot of skill each time. We were warned about this but there was nowhere else to park and the property is listed as having parking. Lots of other general upkeep things like waste pipes leaking outside when the bath is in use. The property could to with some maintenance carried out. Welcome pack of cake, biscuits etc was nice and appreciated after our long drive to the property. Comments left here are to be used as constructive to help the owner improve the property for others.

The 'chocolate box' cottage is in a great setting with a lovely garden and has everything we needed for our weeks stay.

The peace and quiet is idyllic yet there are plenty of 'off the beaten track' things to do within a short drive. Will be recommending to friends and family.

We have had a brilliant time the cottage was lovely both spacious and cosy ideally located for walking and close to place’s to we had a great time and would definitely go here again

Had a week at Church View, last week of September.

It's a very old cottage and very well equipped. A lovely generous welcome pack awaited us.The log burner is great. The central heating was on a timer but only for a couple of hours in the morning, so if you wanted a lie in it was off by about 9.30. It was about the same time in the evening, it came on about 6.45 till about 9.00. This is fine as you have the log fire, but rest of cottage is cold. It would be nice to have the option of a boost, but I realise some may abuse that. The stairs are steep, and may not suit elderly people. There also was an abundance of extension leads plugged in. The kitchen did smell slightly damp. There does seem to be a lot of clutter in the cupboards but there is everything you need. Wi fi is good, no mobile signal, though there is a phone box just over the road there is no phone and not been for many years. I do seem to have pointed out a few negatives but we had a lovely time. There are plenty of walks from the door. The walks to Milldale and Wolfscote are very nice. The Tissington trail is a flat easy walk. Hulme end to Wetton mill is also very pleasant. Hartington is good for a pub lunch or coffee.

We loved the position of the cottage, nice and quiet, near to village pub and children's play park.

Cottage was cosy and had excellent facilities. Nice homely touches and generous welcome pack and pretty vase of flowers. Garden was huge too.

Great cottage, owner was wonderful and had gone over and above on providing everything we could need plus some extras on top.

Great position close to lovely walking country. Cottage is set in a beautiful garden in a very pleasant village. We are veterans of many trips to Derbyshire and many cottages but this is the best equipped we have ever had. Will definitely return.

We had a lovely holiday, even though the weather wasnt great, we had a mix of rain and sun and wind.

We specifically chose the area for the proximity to various cycle routes, Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail, Carsington Water and Tissington trail which is right round the corner to the cottage, no driving needed, the location is fantastic, you are close to everything. The village has a lovely friendly pub which serves nice food and the there is a restaurant, Biggin Hall which serves fantastic food. You are also round the corner from Hartington which has shops and pubs etc. A massive plus point for this cottage is that the owner is incredibly thoughtful, there are side tables (a particular bug bear of mine when cottages dont have enough of these), washing machine, clothes horse, iron, proper ironing board, logs for the fire (more available in conservatory at reasonble cost), lots of blankets and throws, a pouffe (another bug bear of mine in holiday cottages is the lack of being able to put your feet up), a lovely welcome pack of cakes, bread, milk and eggs. A massive massive bonus is the ability to store the bikes safely, there is a garage here that you can put them in to keep them safe. Plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. Its actually a 3 bed, you could easily put a baby in the small 3rd cot room. It has two living rooms. But we felt that the cottage probably suffers from damp in the kitchen and the radiators didnt really work in that they only got lukewarm. We used the fire which was more than adequate for the evenings but in the mornings as you're getting ready to go out/having breakfast we didnt want to light a fire and then have to leave it when we went out so it was chilly. Although we didnt use them, the cottage has large gardens, in warmer weather I can imagine them being beautiful to sit out of an evening watching the sun set.

Lovely,lovely cottage in a village between Buxton and Ashbourne.

If you are expecting boutique hotel style, forget this property. If,on the other hand, you want olde world charm, cosiness and character, this is for you. Lovely location, plenty of places in the area to visit and a pub down the road...what’s not to like. The welcome pack was a lovely touch.....the icing on the cake, as it were!!

The cottage is very well appointed and we were very comfortable.

The owners had lit the fire for us which was very welcome as we arrived in the cold dark and rain. Another nice touch was a welcome basket of biscuits and cake. The village is in an ideal location to explore this area of the Peak district with some really good walks along the river Dove and into Hartington. The local pub was very welcoming and we enjoyed Sunday lunch after a walk around the village and the Tissington trail. A thoroughly enjoyable break in a fantastic little cottage in lovely gardens. The owners obviously take pride in the cottage and pay plenty of attention to detail to make the stay as enjoyable as possible

The cottage was very well equipped with a great welcome pack. Loved it.

It was perfect if you have young children, the best we have been in.

The cottage was so well stocked with all the kitchen items, then there were the children's toys that were available including a rocking horse which absolutely made my little girls holiday, Lynda left us a very well thought out welcome pack of bread, bacon, cakes and other essentials which was very thoughtful, the garden was lovely and big for the children to play in, All in all we have stayed in over 20 cottages in the peaks and this was by far the best all round holiday home we have had.

Biggin cottage is located in a quiet village with a great pub - but is close to walks and other attractions in the peaks plus close to Bakewell village where there are great shops-The cottage was immaculate and the cake, eggs and milk were much appreciated - thank u- The garden is gorgeous and encourages you to relax

What a lovely well appointed and thought through cottage - felt like a genuine home.

A delightful welcome pack greeted us and the log burner was set up ready to go. Plenty of small thoughtfull things that can often be missed in a more 'stripped down' holiday let were present - hand soap, kitchen roll, a tea towel, cleaning materials on hand, bin bags available and so on - the basics were all in place for you to top up for the next visitors. The kitchen was fully equipped. It was lovely to sit in the garden on a comfy chair in the sun and listen to the Church Bells. We accessed the Tissington Trail a very short bike ride (less than 5 mins) on one road from the Cottage - spot on!

The location and the cottage were fantastic.

A lovely welcome pack was left for us by the owner and we felt at home straight away.

Church View is a very lovely cottage in a great location for walking and cycling.

There is easy access to the Tissington Trail and great walks at Dovedale and Monsal Head are only a short car journey away. The cottage is made to feel very home-from-home and is set up very well for young children. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone thinking of a comfortable stay in the Peak District.

Everything about the cottage was excellent except the central heating.

It is a big cottage but the central heating failed to keep the property warm. We had to use a fan heater most of the time, which was provided. With the onset of chilly mornings, the heating controls need to be reset to come on earlier.

Cottage is well equipped, quaint and the grocery pack was most enjoyable, it was a splendid break.

The owner provided a most thoughtful welcome of home baked cakes,bread,milk and spread upon arrival.

The cottage is clean,tidy,comfortable and well positioned to explore the mines and caverns and shops, giving a short drive to Bakewell, Buxton, Castleton, Ashbourne, Chatsworth and Keddleston. The tissington trail is literally on the doorstep and monsail is close by as well for the walkers. The garden is large and sunny for evenings to relax in. The cottage has central heating and a wood-burner for the winter walkers, and a bath with shower over. The Waterloo pub is popular with the locals and provides a friendly atmosphere and good ‘home cooked’ food, next to the pub, Biggin Hall is located and provides a more up market setting for finer dining. The owner provides linen and towels a starter of loo rolls and electricity. There is a new electric oven,microwave,dishwasher and washing machine. Iron and ironing board. A plentiful supply of mugs,cups,glasses pans and utensils. The lounge has a small TV and DVD player(not blue ray) good selection of board and garden games. The cottage has a small room with a cot,baby monitor and changing mat for the young family with a fixed child gate at the top of the stairs together with a second child gate which can be placed anywhere. There is a second outside loo which is very handy. I have stayed in many cottages throughout the country over the years and can say that the thoughtfulness and care of the owner for her guests is evident throughout the cottage, I would highly recommend it.

A really perfect little holiday cottage, the whole family loved it.

The village is very pretty and in a great location for walks etc. Having a pub close by is a bonus. The cottage had everything we needed and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The log burner made it very cosy in the evening. We would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

When I arrived the log burner had been lit and there was an amazing food package that had been left as a welcome gift.

The cottage was home from home, very comfortable.

Lovely position.

In the morning there was often a cockerel crowing and the church bells ringing - but neither of them too loudly! Great property and the gardens were perfect for our 5 year old to run about in. Secure driveway and a true home from home. One thing for mums...bring blackout blinds if its sunny! Cottage was lovely and cool and we would definitely use again! Lovely owner and a pleasure to rent from!!

At Churchview we were made to feel VERY welcome!

. what a reception we had on arrival at the cottage, homemade cake, eggs, bacon, milk and bread!! After a long tiring journey with the children it was just what we needed! The owner had gone to meticulous detail in ensuring the cottage was tailored to our needs even choosing bedding appropriate for our teenager and toddler! The cottage is perfect for a family, group of friends or a couple wanting a getaway in a quaint, cosy cottage! It has been a real to treat to stay in this delightful cottage!!
