The Ivy Barn

If you like silence, star filled sky, cosy small house with everything included, and you do not mind the narrow country roads, this is perfect !

What a special little place.

Beautifully situated and very well kept. Simon and Julie were lovely and the added addition of the family donkeys was a real delight. Ideal if you want to explore the Peak District or just curl up in the tranquil surroundings and read a book. Outstanding. Could not fault it. Will come again.

We really enjoyed our stay here.

The property was clean, well equipped, and very comfortable. The location was beautiful, peaceful and quiet, with lovely views. Donkeys and lambs grazing, together with pheasants and squirrels all just metres from the property. Oh, and the cockerel, mustn’t forget him.

Peace and quiet are in abundance here at ivy barn, only interrupted by the occasional braying of thistle and acorn, the two donkeys and pheasants with there distinctive call, which is lovely.

Carsington water is easily reached on foot just down the lane where there are many walk's, the visitor’s centre cafe and restaurant, mainsail, serve very good food and the best ice cream, snugburys. Ivy barn is a delightful get away with comfy beds and a beautiful setting. Simon and julie are on hand if needed but never intrusive. We can highly recommend ivy barn and would love to return.

Great location with a view of Carsington Water:which is within 10/15 minutes walking distance from the property.

The accommodation is quirky, compact but roomy enough with all mod con’s and nothing to disturb you apart from the odd pheasant or the braying of the pet donkeys. The hosts are pleasant and friendly but inconspicuous, but easily available below if needed. We would have liked better weather but had a great time with our four legged friend nevertheless. If you want somewhere quiet and off the beaten track then I would suggest that this is for you.

If you’re wanting a rural retreat, Ivy Barn is a great choice.

It has a comfy bed, good shower and lovely views. We loved seeing the donkeys, pheasants, chickens and I was thrilled to spot a woodpecker on the bird feeder. We had a fab week and would definitely return.

If you want to be away from the crowds, then Ivy Barn is ideal.

.. It`s cosy, quirky and comfortable, located in the countryside... The bed was so comfy, plenty of hot water.. We loved feeding the two donkeys.... The barn was very well equipped, and the owners were so nice. Superb views of Carston Water too....

Ivy barn is a perfect cosy home to use as a base to explore the beauty of the Peak District and Derbyshire.

When we stayed we were lucky enough to have a sprinkling of snow, which was pretty and Ivy Barn was a toasty retreat to return to after a day exploring in icy temperatures. The facilities are outstanding, the kitchen has everything you could ask for, including a slow cooker which was fantastic for leaving a warming casserole cooking whilst out exploring. The bed is comfortable and the shower has fantastic pressure. Julie and Simon have everything covered but are also on had to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for a lovely stay :)

An excellent position with lovely walks around Carsington Water.

We enjoyed staying in a cosy Ivy Barn, including the delicious chocolates.

It was a lovely and relaxing break. The hosts were friendly, and we felt very welcome. It was lovely chatting with them, especially their donkeys! There were plenty of places to visit. We don't visit the Peak District often, but we love it, as it is a beautiful countryside. We were so lucky with the beautiful weather and sunshine in autumn.

Its peaceful with stunning views of Carsington water, which you can access from a path next to the property. Enjoyed feeding the Donkeys with a few carrots. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the near future.

We had everything we needed and the owners were lovely. Very peaceful with plenty of lovely walks right from the front door and glorious views. Nice local pubs and a very handy little shop in the village. We would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely week stay at Ivy Barn, very quiet and peaceful .

Very clean on arrival and very well equipped for self catering with everything you could possibly need. Great powerful shower, warm and cosy with easily adjustable heating. Bed was the comfiest we have experienced in a holiday let and the electric reclining sofa was really comfortable. Plenty of storage space. WiFi very reliable. There is a small ice box in the top of the fridge that can store a few frozen items . Julie and Simon are excellent hosts and live next door if needed. A path from the property leads directly to Carsington Water footpath just a couple of minutes walk away, lovely circular walk around the water with a visitor centre, cafe and shop. We would highly recommend. Thank you Julie and Simon for an excellent stay.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at The Ivy Barn, it was very beautiful, tranquil and equipped with everything you need, (there is nothing the owners haven’t thought of, we were amazed!

) The barn itself is stunning and in picturesque, delightful surroundings. The reservoir is only a few minutes walk away. Julie and Simon (the owners) were very welcoming. We were there over the Christmas week and they had very kindly adorned the barn with some Christmas decorations, it was very tasteful and looked absolutely gorgeous! We were all sad to leave after a very peaceful week. We highly recommend The Ivy Barn, you won’t be disappointed!!

Superb location for dog walking but dog owners should be aware that there is no secure area for midnight wees etc, so must have boots, coat, lead and torch at the ready! Would definitely recommend.

The property was comfortable and very homely.

The owners were very helpful and friendly and we appreciated the milk and chocolates on arrival, and thoroughly enjoyed the bonus of pizza!!! The area was beautiful. We were disappointed as we had to leave early as my husband hurt his back. We would thoroughly recommend Ivy Barn.

Lovely quiet and cosy barn conversion with original beams.

Owners nearby and friendly but never intrusive. Lots of thoughtful touches including milk in the fridge and a large Toblerone on the table on arrival. Enjoyed views of Carsington Water and the sweeping hilly landscape from the cottage windows. Thank you Simon and Julie for providing so many little touches that made our week at the Ivy Barn really special. We plan to return for another stay.

A lovely property in a fantastic location.

This was our second stay here and it was just as good as the first.

Ivy Barn is cosy and comfortable. The views are simply stunning. There’s also the added bonus of onsite donkeys and I was also treated to a visit from the owner dog. We will certainly be making another visit.

Had an awesome week at Ivy Barn.

It was a complete home from home and I absolutely did not want to leave. The cottage is in a perfect location for walking around Carsington Water straight from the door! I didn't touch my car all week, just how I like it. Furface and me will be returning, hopefully later in the year. I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage and its views to anyone (as long as you don't want to go when I do ;)) Thank you so much for having us xxx

Everything you could ever want or need and the treats were a lovely touch. Had a lovely stay in a beautiful location, a stunning part of the world.

A stunning little barn conversion.

Everything you could need for your stay. Bed was really comfy and we loved the reclining sofa. The donkeys were an added bonus to say hello to in the morning. Wonderful views of Carsington water which is just a short walk down the lane. Lovely little extras for your dogs in the form of a ball thrower, treats and towels just for them. We’re definitely looking at booking again in the summer

Perfectly located for a quiet relaxing break with walks from the doorstep.

Plenty of attractions to drive to. The property has an eclectic mix of furnishings that are attractive and comfortable. It is equipped with everything you would need for self catering. Carsington Water footpath is a few minutes walk away.. or a short drive to the visitor centre and restaurant if, like me, you have limited mobility.

Lovely barn with high quality fixtures and fittings.

Spotlessly clean and a lovely location. The bed was so comfortable, I had a little root to see what make the mattress was as I need a new one at home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ivy barn.

The barn was spotless throughout and well thought out. The peace and quiet was wonderful and we visited so many places from this ideal base. Outdoor comfy chairs would be our suggestion so guests could enjoy sitting outside. We are looking to book again.

The stay was relaxing and peaceful it was like being in home from home, and little things like leaving out chocolates, sweets and milk in the fridge is so very thoughtful will definitely go back in the future Thank you for such a brilliant week.

We stayed at Ivy Barn for a long weekend and it was just what we needed!

Beautiful views and a great little cottage. We were able to have a cup of tea on arrival as the host had left milk, tea and coffee and chocolates. Very comfortable and clean and equipped for our dog who seemed to focus on the jar of treats left for him. Would definitely stay again. Plenty of fluffy towels and lots of equipment in the kitchen to rustle up a dinner.

A beautiful cottage with everything you need for a holiday off the beaten track with a local shop and pub a mile away.

Ivy Barn is well furnished and full of interesting local books, guides and maps. It feels like a real home with a well equipped kitchen, TV, lovely bathroom towels and access to a washing machine. Hosts Simon and Julie make you feel welcome and their thoughtful gifts of biscuits and sweets on arrival along with a pint of milk was so nice. Breathtaking setting above Carsington Water, the photos just don't bring out the real magic of the place. A perfect base for exploring the area and enjoying the great outdoors.

We enjoyed our holiday here so much, we will return at some date in the future.

The owners were very helpful and friendly and the accommodation very comfortable. The location was beautiful and a key part of our stay was to be able to walk our dog along the paths and tracks of Carsington Water. It’s very close to a lot of Beauty spots in the area and the local towns and villages. There is absolutely nothing to dislike about the accommodation or the area. One of the best holidays we have had.

Such a beautiful location, offering gorgeous skies over a distant Carsington Water, and fantastic dog walks without needing the car.

Ivy Barn was a cosy, stylish and well equipped barn conversion. Its furnishings were extremely smart and aesthetically pleasing. The heating system was good, we had a v comfy bed with excellent bed linen, the lounge seating was great, wifi top was top notch and there was a smart tv too, so we could log into our own account. We were left alone, even though the owners were “on site” and that was great for us. We would love to return to Ivy Barn & we wholeheartedly thank our hosts for such a great experience.

We had a lovely stay at the Ivy Barn with our Golden Retriever.

The pictures really don’t do it enough justice! The barn was very spacious, comfortable and homely. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, it was perfect for the three of us. We also loved the grounds and waking up to see the donkeys! Carsington Water was a stones throw away which was perfect for walks with the dog. We had a lovely long weekend and will definitely return!

The views over Carsington Water were beautiful and there are walks straight from the door. Good for us visiting family in Ashbourn and Derby.

We loved this beautiful cottage set in a perfect quiet position overlooking Carsington Water!

Simon and Julie were on hand if we needed anything and found them very friendly approachable people! We loved the donkeys they had too! The nearby Barley Mow Inn was just a mile down the lane and was a step back in time, serving ales from jugs drawn from the cellar! All in all we had a lovely week and would highly recommend Ivy Cottage a home from home. We shall be back!

Great location with stunning views.

Excellent for walker’s & great to be able to take the dog with us. When walking around the lake have to be careful of cyclists so dog on the lead is preferable as some cyclists are rather inconsiderate of walkers &

We spent a month in the Ivy Barn as we were between houses and it was absolutely perfect.

Home from home, perfect peace and relaxation and walks from the door. Balm for the soul indeed! It was compact, but had everything we needed, a wonderfully comfortable bed and lovely shower. The owners Simon and Julie were great too, friendly and helpful yet not intrusive.

The barn conversion was lovely with a nice mix of character and comfort, it is a nice size and we found it a very relaxing base for a break.

Character-full cottage with a pleasing mix of older features and stylish modern kitchen and bathroom. Very çlean but pet friendly. Lots of local walks and things to do.

The barn has been beautifully renovated.

A very comfortable and lovely living space, in a stunning location. Lovely and warm, we had snow for one of our days. Easy to access, and very private. Great to have the option to use a washing machine and tumble drier. So much to do in the area that we ran out of time. Lovely to be able to do walks directly from the house. Lots of places to eat and drink in the local area. We also like to cook where we stay and perhaps would have liked a few more kitchen utensils. This is not a complaint, just an observation. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing stay.
