  • "A lovely place to stay, very clean and very comfortable, but lacks 2 things - a clothes drier (there is a washing machine but a washer drier would be preferable, especially if a group of 6 adult walkers or cyclists rented the cottage) and reliable wifi (the wifi is totally unreliable)."

We were particularly pleased with the efficient heating, most welcome as the weather turned cold. It was difficult to fault The Cowshed. Wouls suggest an information folder with wifi password, instructions for recycling, equipment instructions and local information.

We loved our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future if we return to the area. Being just outside the peak District was perfect we managed multiple trips out for walks during our stay - so many family friendly walks with in a 30 min drive. Would 100% recommend

Lovely to see the animals and for the children to help feed the horse. This was a fantastic base close to Alton Towers. The owner was very kind and even gave us some fresh eggs for the morning! Would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • "Lovely quiet setting with room to potter round the gardens if you don’t want to travel far."

Accommodation had everything we needed and some would say slow Wi-Fi at times is not a problem. Far enough from roads to have no traffic noise but Ipstones was only down the road or Cheadle for a supermarket. Plenty to do in the local area even if you are not a theme park fan. Only negative was the horses outside the door, our daughter was dying to go riding but we didn’t manage to book a hack in the area in advance.

The place was well maintained and the markets and pubs were very close. We absolutely fell in love with the view from our lounge and thought the pictures on the website didn't do enough justice to this beautiful farm house. The owner of the house Sue was very kind to leave us some extra items such as soap and tea bags. My kids loved their rooms and the place was warm and very tidy. I would recommend this place for days when the weather is bad coz you could just cozy up on the couch with a cup of tea and enjoy the view.

Cottage is more spacious than photos show. It was beautifully clean when we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is in pristine condition. Lovely walks nearby. We were visiting to see family so didn’t explore much locally. There is a good local shop in Ipstones and a butcher. Owners live in the house behind the cottage and they were friendly and helpful. This immaculately presented and well appointed accommodation enjoys the peace and quite expected of a rural situation. The views over the Staffordshire countryside, especially with the rising and setting sun, together with horses frolicking in the fields were daily sights to behold. In addition to the many local scenic walks in Staffordshire/Derbyshire, major tourist attractions include steam railway, Well Dressing in the Derbyshire villages, Crich Tramway Museum, Bakewell, Matlock Bath and, not forgetting Chatsworth House, these were all with 25 miles and 40 minutes in the car. Traffic was never a problem. Ipstones has a very well stocked Village store, two pub/restaurants serving good food and, within 5/7 miles, there are many other excellent eateries to meet all taste. In summary, what more do you need for a great holiday. It’s a must revisit.

A lovely barn conversion carried out to a good standard. Very clean, very comfortable, very spacious and the view was breathtaking. Just a short drive from Alton Towers and Leek, but totally "away from it all" in terms of peace and quiet. Plenty of wardrobe space in the bedrooms, well equipped kitchen with decent quality appliances, good size bathroom with a decent shower.
