  • "Excellent and clean property, top quality towels provided."

All areas are intelligently thought through and space is well thought out. Beds comfortable and the window & Shutter in the main bedroom is a clever touch. The village is, as expected, hilly. The local pub ‘The Miners Arms’ is to be strongly recommended, a lovely well run family pub with great simple food.

  • "The cottage was well appointed and had everything we could wish for to make our holiday a success."

It is in an area close to many attractions which meant we didn't have to do a lot of travelling to enjoy them. The village is a pretty one which we had a very interesting walk around and has two different pubs. which gave us a welcome in both and a super Sunday lunch in one.

Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Dragons Hill Barn. Property Owner

The property

This charming, 16th-century barn conversion sits in the unspoilt village of Brassington, amidst the beautiful scenery of the Peak District.

Many original features are retained, while at the same time the barn is equipped with all you could need for a week long break, Dragon Hill Barn is perfect for families looking to get away from everyday life.

After a day of exploring, settle down in the sitting room using the starter pack of logs to get the woodburner going, whilst the rest of group decide on a film from the Smart TV.

Those budding chefs can get to work in the kitchen, finished with granite worktops and all the mods and cons required to whip up a hearty feast.

Serve dinner at the dining table or make the most of a warm evening by dining alfresco style at the outdoor furniture.

Showcasing real quality, the bedrooms have been wonderfully furnished with ample storage space and fresh linen, serviced by a contemporary shower room where you can pamper yourself each morning.

Get to know the local area as you wander through Brassington, offering two pubs, The Miners Arms and Ye Olde Gate Inn, both serving food and a selection of ales, while there is also a beautiful Norman church, historic streets and a children’s play area.

Head to Carstington Water where you can try your hand a range of watersports, or if you’d prefer to stay on land, the whole area is a walker's paradises with fantastic walking and cycling trails all around, including the High Peak Trail, a 17 mile bridleway which runs from Dowlow to Cromford.

Alternatively, head north to one of the country’s first tourist destinations, Matlock Bath, boasting charming character and interest that has impressed visitors for centuries.

Offering both a relaxing escape with plenty of adventure in the area, look forward to a stay at Dragon Hill Barn.

The attractive and unspoilt conservation village of Brassington is perched on a hillside on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park in the midst of glorious open countryside. It is a traditional Peaks, limestone village with many cottages dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. There are two pubs (both serving good food), and further amenities are available in nearby Matlock, Ashbourne and Bakewell. Close by is beautiful Carsington Water, covering 750 acres with some of the best sailing in the country. The site also offers boating, biking and windsurfing, along with shops, a restaurant and a children’s adventure playground. An excellent base for exploring the Peak District.
