Cottage is has everything needed. Description doesnt mention there is an under counter fridge and a counter top freezer in the property. Not very big but enough to store a few days worth of food. Only thing that was a little disappointing was the water pressure from the shower, its very slow. A simple water pump would solve the issue.

There were lovely walks from the door for me and Furface. You want for nothing in this cottage and the owners are nearby should you need anything (which you won't). Directions from Ashbourne would have made our arrival less challenging as we were tired and forgot the warning about taking the Ilam turning. Arrived in Ilam but no signal for phoning the owners and no one we spoke to in the village had a clue as to where we wanted to go.Directions for walks from the property would have been appreciated as we didn't want to get lost. The electric charger was wonderful as we are yet to get used to the electric car but we kept a check on the usage and were able to pay for the electricity. A sharp knife in the kitchen would have been nice but the appliances made life easy.

Lovely walks right on the doorstep if you don’t wish to venture far. Our German Shepherd Rane absolutely loved it, she was particularly interested in the sheep that roam around having never encountered one before. ILAM, STAFFORDSHIRE

Ashbourne 5 miles; Stoke-on-Trent 22.2 miles

This picturesque village lies beside the River Manifold, among the limestone hills of the Staffordshire Peak District. Brushing borders with Derbyshire, close to the famous Dovedale valley, this village boasts a historic church and pretty, Alpine-style cottages. Ilam Park, owned by the National Trust, is the perfect place to picnic or stroll with your families and four-legged friends, boasting a riverside backdrop and popular tea-room garden for all to enjoy the year-round. The neo-Gothic Ilam Hall is a stately home now housing a youth hostel within the grounds, as sheep graze peacefully in the open grassland. The views stretch for miles across the Italian Gardens and a challenging circular walk leads you through 10 miles of stunning scenery, taking in Thor's Cave and Wetton village. About five miles away, at the southern end of the Peak District, is the quintessential English market town of Ashbourne, with narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. There are many restaurants and pubs to choose from, as well as antique shops. For those seeking a thrill from rollercoaster rides, Alton Towers is easily reached from here and further afield you have the cities of Derby and Nottingham. A wonderful location for your next adventure.
