Old Church Coach House

We stayed here for a few days with family.

It is a gem of a place. The house was spotless, the kitchen had everything we needed, and more besides. There was plenty of space for parking on the driveway. The hosts were friendly, helpful and accommodating. There was a lovely garden in the back, plus books, dvds, games etc for when the weather wasn't as good. Perfect for a relaxing break away.

Great space and layout. In a lovely village with a park near by and beautiful countryside. Great place to stay for families with toys and my boys especially enjoyed the books and colouring. We hope to come back and stay here again.

Lovely cottage set in a rural village although ideally placed for getting around Staffordshire/Derbyshire.

The owners were very friendly and left us a welcome pack. Kitchen large and modern and had everything you needed. All three bedrooms were a good size. The cottage and garden were well maintained. We had a great week and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this gem of a cottage. Hope to go back.

Owners very friendly and welcoming would definitely recommend for a quiet peaceful holiday. Brilliant pub a few steps away serving excellent ales, no food tho but it does seem to have the odd curry night.

Lovely quiet little house, located just behind the village pub.

We found everything was absolutely spotless. Beds were all comfy and we all slept well. There is not a negative thing to say about the property really!

Maggie and Andrew, the owners, were so nice and made us feel really welcome.

One of our grandsons had several nose bleeds during the week and they were so understanding and provided us with fresh linen. The cottage was very well furnished and the kitchen stocked with all the equipment that you could possibly require. The table was extendable and we enjoyed family meals, games and craft activities around it when we weren’t round and about discovering museums, stately homes, parks etc…. The village’s recreation ground was a great place for the boys to indulge their madness for football and the villagers were so nice to the boys on Halloween. A lovely stay.

The property was lovely, clean and comfortable, in a beautiful setting, it’s great for families, the kids loved seeing squirrels in the garden, the owners have provided games and toys which the children appreciated, it’s a great base for visiting Alton Towers, which was a 17 minute drive, Monkey Forrest is around 30 minutes, with lovely walks.

We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay, we would have given it more stars if we could.

The coach house is located in a very quiet spot approx 5 mins off the main road.

Using Google maps the post code took me straight to the location. We stayed here after needing something to comfortably host 6, inc young children whilst we was attending a wedding and then decided to bulk out our stay with alton towers (20min drive) and the peak wildlife park (30 min drive) etc. The coach house has a decent size garden space which was brill and safe for my 5yr old to be out side. Very clean and modern inside, beds were really comfy, bathrooms were very clean as was the kitchen. Everything you would need in kitchen and more. Everything was as expected pictures are accurate. We ordered takeaway a few nights from looking on just eat/ uber eat - no problem. Overall very pleasant stay. ☺️

Old church coach house is set in a small rural village within easy reach of many attractions.

There is a small shop and pub, the pub does not do food but there is one at Whithington a 10 minuet walk away. The house has comfy beds and good bathrooms a large kitchen with everything you need. The only thing that let it down was the garden and court yard area which could do with a little TLC, overall a very nice place to stay.

The Old Coach House is way better than described on your site.

. Extremely fresh and clean, a very pleasant environment in all areas inside and out. Hosts Andrew and Margaret could not have been any nicer, quite unobtrusive, but there if you needed them.

Lovely little village cottage as advertised, good quality throughout.

The owners made it special: not only a warm and practically helpful welcome, but lots of useful small touches which showed careful thought has gone into what renters might need, with plenty of handy local information and guidance. To cap it all, when floods almost cut off the hamlet Andrew volunteered to drive us to the rail station, at some personal risk. That went above and beyond any duty call, for which we are very grateful.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas holiday in the coach house!

What a beautiful house in a lovely setting.

It was perfect for our family get together. We had plenty of space , yet very cosy and everything you might need. Everywhere was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Thank you to the hosts for the welcome basket ,especially as I had forgotten to bring teabags ! Would certainly recommend and book again if in the area .

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Church Coach House.

It was clean and comfortable, and very relaxing and peaceful. On a practical note having three double bedrooms and parking for three cars was very helpful, as we were a family group of three couples. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would wholeheartedly recommend Old Church Coach House for anyone looking to holiday in this area.

Great little cottage next to the pub (didn’t open till 4pm whilst we were there) Cottage had everything we needed including a little sun trap in the back garden.

Bedroom with en suit was lovely, we stayed in and cooked both nights, appreciated the little library of books, We did say we would stay again

A lovely cottage in a very peaceful location, we had a very relaxing stay, weather was not the best but that's how it is in England.

The pub next door is a very welcome sight after a day out. We would happily recommend it for a holiday and would certainly come again.

We loved our stay at Church Leigh!

The Old Church Coach House was a comfortable place for our family (2+3) to relax and enjoy the surrounding English countryside, with all its narrow lanes and rolling fields. It’s close enough to amenities but definitely country village living! Our hosts next door were ever accomodating and always ready with suggestions and recommendations for our stay!

We enjoyed our stay, everything was as presented in the details.

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, ideal for up to 6 adults. A quiet and private location which suited us ideally, owners were approachable and friendly. Nothing negative to say given the cost for the stay, we would consider returning again in the future if we wish to further explore the area.

The cottage is superbly furnished and clean.

Great amount of information about local attractions, a cosy courtyard and small colourful garden with table and chairs was available. The area is beautiful and close to the potteries and southern Peak District, would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay, the cottage was immaculate, clean, cosy, and everything had its place, but still room in kitchen cupboards to put your own stuff.

The bathrooms modern and bright, the beds comfortable, and plenty of storage, all the rooms warm.So we would thoroughly recommend this property for your stay. Fantastic cottage with super helpful, but unobtrusive, hosts close by.

Lovely location too which means many of the Peak District attractions are just a short drive away. We had two weeks here and still didn't manage to do everything the area has to offer. I guess we'll just have to visit again one day soon!

Our stay at the cottage was very good.

A nice property, clean and everything was there what we needed. Parking was no problem at all, even with the pub at only 50 meters distance. Andy and Margaret were perfect hosts! We are sure to book again when we are in this area.

Spotlessly clean, comfortable, converted coach house.

Lovely little private garden to sit in at the rear. Plenty to do in the area but a car would be needed. In a quiet hamlet on the edge of the Staffordshire moorlands. Friendly owner nearby, who responded immediately when we had a minor problem, and he fixed it. Highly recommended.

The cottage overall was very nice and the owners very pleasant.

My only gripe was access to the property. On a couple of occasions we were unable to park in the property grounds as the road was obstructed with vehicles presumably from people visiting the pub. We instead parked up the road on a small housing estate which is fine as we don't have disabilities or very young children but if we did we would not have been happy.

Loved the house and we were lucky with the weather.

Had some lovely walks varying from 2/3 -8/9 miles. Definitely recommend the farmers arms pub as very friendly and grateful for your custom. Also the steak and ale pie which was full of lovely well cooked meat. We could have welcomed having some scissors in the cottage but I’m a cross stitcher so had some when we needed them. The owners were very kind keeping us informed and left a lovely starter pack and card with lots of good information. Loved our stay and had a great week. Loved the garden too. Had a wonderful week with friends now need to loose weight!

The Old Church Coach House is an excellent place to stay.

It was spotless and very comfortable. It is very close to the local pub and to the local shop/ Post Office. Owners are very friendly and close by if required. Local attractions are only about a 20 to 30 mins drive away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

This cottage was brilliant.

We’ve stayed in many holiday rentals before but this was exceptional. We stayed with our 3 and 1 year olds and were relieved to find they not only had a high chair and cot, but toys and books suitable for them too. The place was spotless and you can tell it was recently renovated to a high standard. Lovely location and plenty of days out are within a 30 minute drive away. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Fantastic property, well loved gardens and in a lovely quiet spot.

The property also benefited from lots of little extras that we don’t usually get with holiday let’s such as many children’s toys, cleaning products, cloths, loo rolls, and lots of other little thing that you usually forget to pack. They were very much appreciated in this well loved property.

This is a lovely house, Spotlessly clean and beautifully kitted out.

It was ideal for our young family (2 adults, 3 year old, 1 year old). The hosts have been very helpful and we cannot wait til we come back. 30 mins from Alton Towers, 60 mins from Drayton Manor and there is plenty for a family to explore around Stoke. For those who want peace and quiet, the cottage is surrounded by lovely countryside - that also means if you need to be in a town with a lot of amenities or you don’t have a car this is probably not the place. We’ve had a brilliant time and have loved the house.

I looked the way the cottage was fitted out - it was a cheerful place with little touches that appealed to me.

It was ideal for an energetic family of 4 (two adults plus two pre-teens). Owners very helpful and patient with our flat tyre on the last day!

We were absolutely delighted with the cottage.

Everything we needed and so comfortable. The beds were particularly comfortable. The location is perfect for Alton towers, with Uttoxeter on your door step. The owners, Mr and Mrs Bellchambers were lovely and very welcoming. We would strongly recommend the Old Church Coach House and we will definitely be back in the future!

We stayed at the old church coach house for 2 nights whilst going to Alton towers scare fest.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful! Clean, comfortable a real home from home! Amenities were all available making the stay so easy! Beds were so comfortable and the house was modern but cosy! The owners were so lovely and helpful and even left a little treat for us to enjoy. We couldn’t fault at thing and are hoping to go back next year for longer!

Lots of homely touches which made it very special. Milk in the fridge and treats to eat too, much appreciated. The house is sparkling clean with comfortable beds and all the amenities you could wish for. Located behind the village pub in a peaceful countryside setting. A welcome card with sweets and biscuits, as well as milk in the fridge on arrival gave it that special touch. Met the owners next door, who were lovely and friendly and gave suggestions on places to visit. Excellent. Hope we will go again soon.

The cottage was very pretty and comfortable. The garden was beautiful and private - ideal for relaxing in during the hot sunny week we were there. The owners are friendly and helpful if you need any help or information about the area. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

A lovely cottage with a well-kept garden in a nice area with plenty to do within about 40 mins drive, eg Trentham Gardens, Tissington Trail, Sudbury, Cannocks Chase.

But a few minor niggles: 1. Only duvets available were too warm for the weather (an issue at most cottages we have stayed at) 2. Only one bath mat, so were constantly moving it between the bathroom and ensuite shower room. 3. Heated towel rails would be good (think they were probably the type that heat up with the heating but no good in summer) - we did manage to dry the towels off each day by putting up the airer in the downstairs toilet and rotating them twice a day, but not ideal!

Absolutely gorgeous holiday cottage.

Felt totally at home as soon as we arrived and didn’t want to leave! Very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Great location. Would definitely recommend.

Maggie & Andrew were so welcoming even providing Christmas decorations & Christmas crackers! The house was immaculately clean, modern decor, brilliant showers & comfy beds. If you are considering booking this cottage/house do not deliberate get it booked!

This cottage was booked by Mrs K Duckworth on behalf of my mother, Mrs B Paterson and 2 friends who were attending my wedding in the church at Church Leigh.

They liked everything about the cottage, pristine condition, very good value even though they only stayed 4 nights. Lots of interesting things to do in easy reach, and plenty of really good places to have dinner out. Particularly recommend The Dunscombe Arms at Ellastone, though essential to book as it's very popular.

The only thing missing from the property was champagne glasses.
