  • "Fabulous week at Milldale."

    Central location & the parking was definitely a bonus. Although the road outside was busy, it was quiet in the evening & the view onto the square made for interesting people watching. Shops & cafes & Tissingtin Trail in walking distance & a short drive to the countryside & Dovedale. The property was spotless & clean & very comfortable. We would definitely recommend.   • "We were so impressed with the apartment."

    All was furnished to a really high standard with some really luxurious extras like air conditioning and under floor heating in the kitchen. It was truly immaculate too. Being on the 1st floor, the large sash windows look out over the market place and give a fabulous view. It was so convenient for all the lovely independent shops and many places to eat. It was a great base for visiting surrounding Derbyshire villages although not absolutely necessary as there is lots to see in Ashbourne and having a private parking space meant that we could just relax and explore. We will definitely return!

  • "We found this to be such a lovely apartment furnished to a very high standard."

    The windows provide great views to the market square and beyond and let in lots of light. Enjoyed sitting at the table for breakfast and watching the world go by ! Having the parking space was also so useful in the town centre and everything about our stay was ideal. Really enjoyed staying in Milldale in the heart of Ashbourne and would highly recommend.

  • "Loved the location, great to watch the comings and goings of the Market Place!"

    Ashbourne had loads of cafes and some nice shops; great area for walking especially straight from the door. Amazing apartment, on arrival smelt lovely, clean and fresh. The shower had lots of hot water and good pressure, the bed was super comfy and overall the standard was very high. The road below was noisy during the day, but as the bedroom is at the back, it was very quiet and we slept very well.

  • "Milldale is one of THE best accommodations we have stayed at, this is our second visit and hopefully will continue to visit when in the area."

    It is super clean, well decorated throughout, excellent lighting and heating, everything works as it should, wifi is available, you have your own parking space adjacent to the entry door, it has a central location overlooking the town square which gives easy access to the shops, cafes and restaurants. The bedroom is on the rear of the property so extremely quiet. So it has to be 10/10 from us!!

  • "Amazing apartment, very clean and new, right on top of the town centre."

    Lovely shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés all within minutes walk. We went in early November 2022 and not all pubs, restaurants and cafés were open every day so you will need to check openings and if food is being served. The information pack, online booklet, is very comprehensive with every detail included and we were very impressed by the video showing how to find the apartments once you arrive in the town. Excellent standard.

  • "What can I say about Milldale?"

    It's difficult to find enough superlatives. The apartment was immaculate, spotlessly clean, very well equipped, furnished to a very high standard (everything seemed brand new) and incredibly comfortable. It overlooks the main square in Ashbourne and we spent many happy hours people watching. The pleasure of having our own guaranteed parking space cannot be overstated. We rarely needed to use the car because shops and cafes were within walking distance. The owner supplied detailed instructions and even a video to ensure we easily found the property. Guests need to be aware that the apartment, accessed via private entrance, is on the first floor. The stairs are quite steep so heavy luggage is a challenge. However, that should certainly not put anyone off. It's just something to be aware of. We are intending to book again for September.

  • "We are so pleased to have found Derbyshire House and its ideal location overlooking the marketplace in Ashbourne."

    Though we hesitated a little over the price (we'd paid similar to stay in full service hotels in city centres) the flat we stayed in, Milldale, felt worth the compromise. It was immaculately clean and, clearly, recently furnished. We had everything we wanted for our stay, including a well equipped kitchen (Ashbourne is not great for eating out). The bed was comfortable and the area very quiet at night (despite overlooking a couple of pubs). We slept as well as we do at home. Finally, we were very grateful for the detailed instructions on finding the flat - including images of the exterior, full directions and even a video! Very thoughtful.

  • "Milldale in Ashbourne is the best self catering property we have stayed at."

    The accommodation was super clean and really well decorated throughout, and in pristine condition, very comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom had all the latest fittings and equipment and was like new, underfloor heating in both! Really efficient heating from a combined aircon / heater unit, together with a couple of separate oil filled rads if it got very cold. Everything worked, the knifes were sharp, and no curtains hanging by a one hook which you find in many places you stay…..Faultless. You enjoy your own parking space immediately next to the entrance door so never a panic if there is going to be a space. Communication with Jane the owner was excellent throughout and she was quick to reply and helpful with any queries I had. Location is right in the town centre overlooking the market square, there are loads of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops to suit every pocket all within just a few minutes walking distance. I cannot praise the accommodation highly enough and will certainly give it 10/10…..I would definitely like to revisit in one of the warmer months.

  • "The flat is lovely, bigger than I thought from the photographs."

    We loved the view from the front onto the market place, disappointed that there hasn't been a market here for 8 years despite what the local tourist information says. As the bedroom is at the back it is so quiet, you don't hear the other occupants either. The place is spotless and has everything you need for your stay. Very comfy bed and great shower. Jane rang us to check all was well the night before our holiday and was so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend staying here. The area is beautiful, Ashbourne is a lovely town.

  • "A very nice flat, well kept and presented."

    The accommodation had everything we needed and we were kept update by the owners. Main room/kitchen overlooks the main road past the market square. Traffic noise was not an issue at any point in the stay. We had an excellent stay. Parking at rear was easy to find, there is even a video to show how to find it. We did have a food shop order where they could not locate the flat but it was easy enough to walk to the square and point them back to the flat. Very good location with plenty on the doorstep. Very nice to have a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates, very nice start to our break.

    Easy pedestrian access to the towns facilities, shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs of which there are many and varied. Easy access to the beautiful Peak District Dedicated off road parking at the back of the property. The apartment is beautifully appointed and presented. Really comfy bed, some of the best nights sleep we’ve had for weeks! Owners very helpful. Highly recommended.

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
