Acorn Lodge

The property is in a wonderful location - a quiet farm, surrounded by peaceful meadows/fields.

A wide variety of birds were spotted nearby - two robins, a barn owl, goldfinches, even a treecreeper! The wood-fired hot tub was amazing - beautiful to sit out in the evening - and even see the night stars. The only thing slightly less comfortable was the bed and pillows - too soft for me and my wife - but this is a matter of personal preference, not something wrong with the property. Others will prefer soft to hard! The location was excellent for touring the area - lots of interesting places nearby, it's a good base to explore around. The host Jeff was very welcoming and helpful. The place was very clean and the smart TV was excellent. In summary: this is a wonderful and peaceful location, and the hot tub make it a great stay for relaxing. Perfect location for bird-spotters too!

We genuinely loved being here, the cottage is so clean, and well cared for and the little trinkets dotted around make it feel so homely.

My children had the best time playing in the hot tub, in the garden and listening to the sheep as well. I do wish it was a little clearer on where it is as it was a struggle to find it, but otherwise it’s just perfect. Jeff, the owner, was amazing as well. Nothing was too much for him. Thank you so much and I’m looking forward to rebooking to stay again! :)

We had an amazing stay at this lodge with my boyfriend and our friends.

From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. The lodge was spotless, beautifully presented, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was definitely one of the highlights it was so relaxing and made our trip even more enjoyable. The area was lovely and peaceful, with a very quiet neighbourhood, yet there were still plenty of things to do nearby. We all had such a fantastic time and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. We would highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We had a beautiful holiday at this lovely property.

It was exceptionally clean, the open plan nature of the downstairs allowed us to cook, play games and enjoy the sights seamlessly. The hot tub was great, plenty of wood supplied and easy to use. Parking is easy and right next to the gate to the patio so easy to move luggage in. There is so much to do nearby, we enjoyed walks to Thors cave, escape room and great smokehouse (Hickory’s) in Stafford. Emma bridgewater was also great. We spent hours playing board games and in the hot tub and have returned home feeling refreshed with some great memories too. We had car problems on the day of departure and Jeff went above and beyond, throughout the stay he was quick to respond to any texts we sent. We hope to return soon!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Acorn Lodge.

My teenage daughter loved the local wildlife and got some amazing photos right from the back door. My youngest loved the hot tub. I was a bit worried about getting it going as I've never lit a fire before! But by the third day I was a dab hand and came away feeling pretty proud of myself! The rooms were comfortable and so peaceful, only noise we heard was sheep and cows in the distance - Bliss. Definitely recommend anyone staying there having a bird song finding ap on their phone, it really helped us realize exactly what wonderful wildlife surrounded us. We only had one issue with a shower whilst there and the host immediately messaged back and it was fixed whilst we were out - it really was a perfect stay and we would love to come back later in the year. Many thanks, just what we needed.

Just what we wanted, clean, warm, comfortable, quiet, nice surroundings and spacious. And loved the hot tub. The owners were very understanding and approachable when we had a change to our circumstances. I would highly recommend.

Lovely cottage, very clean and peaceful.

Beautiful rural location, we have had a lovely relaxing time in the peaceful surroundings of Acorn Lodge!

We enjoyed a nice long walk across surrounding fields, and relaxed in the hot tub afterwards. The eco hot tub is a nice feature, it just takes a bit of time to get hot initially. The property was warm and cosy. Lots of wood was provided, for the hot tub and log burner. The owner was very attentive, and communicated regularly, including supporting us with an alternative route to the property following a tree falling, then coming the next day to remove the tree. For anyone looking for a quiet break, this is the perfect place!

Lovely cottage with everything we needed, was well equipped.

The cottage was always warm + the log burner fire was cozy in the evenings. Was lovely waking up with nothing but fields to look at. We enjoyed the hot tub after trips outs. The owner was always available at the end of the phone if we had any questions. Would definitely recommend Acorn Lodge.

This is a lovely property and really quiet and peaceful location.

The hot tub and wood burner are always a hit as was the waterfall shower. It is close enough to the peaks to make the drive, while also feeling off the beaten track. We would happily return again. Our only recommendations to improve would be extra towels for the hot tub and a caffetiere (most places have them so I didn’t bring ours - these are minor points). Otherwise 10/10.

Lovely place, everything you could need.

Home from home. Would love to come again!! Welcome pack was lovely as was our host. One of our party left some belongings behind. Jeff has been great and is sending the back to us! All round 5* lodge and host. Would definitely recommend.

We had a pleasant stay overall, with some lovely touches that we really appreciated.

Milk, eggs, and cake were kindly provided on arrival, which was a thoughtful gesture. The upstairs bed was very comfortable, and the views from the property were beautiful. It was peaceful and quiet throughout our stay, and we especially enjoyed seeing the cows nearby, a really nice rural touch. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. The downstairs bed was quite uncomfortable, which made sleeping difficult. The hot tub was a nice feature, but it takes around three hours to heat up due to the eco-friendly setup. Overall, a peaceful stay, with some lovely elements.

Loved it so much so that we’ve just booked to stay again! Tip- I’d take a dressing gown and sone flip flops with you, for the hot tub.

A very comfortable cottage which was perfect for our family of four. Well designed lounge, dining and kitchen area and very comfortable beds. We loved all the acorn theming and the real fire. Well equipped kitchen and enjoyed outside dining on the patio. Peace and tranquillity - the only noise is birdsong, cows mooing and sheep bleating. Lovely views over the countryside. Amazing hot tub which we thoroughly enjoyed. We really had a great week at Acorn Lodge, and hope to return. Thank you.

I booked this cottage as a short break for my wife, her friend and my two daughters.

My wife has written this review. The cottage itself was beautiful, very comfortable and with everything we needed. How lovely it was to wake in the mornings to hear nothing but the birds , I’ve never been somewhere so quiet. The hot tub was an added bonus and we made the most of it enjoying the amazing views around. Thank you so much to Jeff who turned up just as we’d got ourselves a bit lost trying to find the cottage and getting us back on track. . Any questions we had from helping us with the hot tub to where the nearest pub to eat was he was quick to respond.

An absolutely stunning cottage and location.

Really clean and thoughtfully managed. The location was so peaceful and beautiful, we had a really restful and relaxing break. Communication from the owner was excellent, as was the welcome package. Would wholeheartedly recommend and would absolutely return for another holiday here!

We had a wonderful stay at Acorn Lodge, the accommodation was very comfortable and provided everything we needed.

A lovely quiet spot but not too far from a town or city. Hot tub was great as well, would recommend. The owner was spot on as well, thank you.

Lovely rural location.

Spacious accommodation.. loved your attention to detail, right down to the firelighters. Enjoyed the Acorn theme too, very thoughtful.

This accommodation was lovely, peaceful and comfortable.

The weather wasn't too good whilst we were there, so we enjoyed a few evenings in either watching TV or playing games. However on a sunny day, the garden would be a lovely sun trap. The view was peaceful. We enjoyed sharing the garden with pheasants, partridge, robins and blackbirds... and of course "Jenkins".

Cottages was beautiful, the only thing to consider is that the pillows are quite flat.

Our third stay here - it is a lovely property, comfortable and spacious, with excellent hot tub and is set in a beautiful tranquil location.

It is comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. The owner was friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to visit within easy travelling distance.

Accomodation was of the highest standard and the location was wonderful, so quiet and peaceful.

The hot tub was a hit with everyone and the owner was so kind, friendly and helpful. There was no cafetierre but that was no problem, everything else was there that was needed. Highly recommend.

Lovely homely feeling - Jeff the host was most welcoming - we knew that if needed he was there - but left us to enjoy our holiday.

All ok - tight squeeze for dishing up four meals but we managed it!! All facilities good and Jeff came an cleaned the tub in between a couple of uses!! As said before Jenkins the cat was very friendly and came to talk to us each day. A very relaxing week - shame the weather wasn't glorious for the week!!

Great property!

Very peaceful and quiet - exactly what we were hoping for. All the facilities are as described, and it is really clean and well appointed. Great views of the surrounding farmland. Good position for touring the Peaks and the Potteries, and surrounding places of interest. Five stars!

Where to start, what an absolutely beautiful ans secluded place.

Big parking area, private fenced off garden and patio, luxury wood fired hot tub which was big! With jets and LED's to enjoy an evening dip. Garden furniture to sit out and enjoy the view and sun. Big spacious living/dining/kitchen with a big fridge freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher and other utensils etc in the cupboards. Plates, bowls, cups, cutlery and place mats all provided in the unit by the dining table. Games under the tv cabinet, as well as badminton set under the stairs qhere the recycling bins and iron/ironing board are. The sofas were cosy and the log fire was gorgeous, although the weather was so nice during our visit it was too hot to use, but Jeff called over and asked of we wanted any fans, which we accepted. The bedrooms were spacious, and nice comfy double beds, the downstairs bedroom can be changed to 2 singles if needed, which Jeff asked before our visit. The bathrooms were really nice and underfloor heating! There was a welcome pack and booklet to ahow all local places including pubs, towns, walks etc. Which was so nice to have. And not forgetting jenkins, the cute little ginger cat who comes to visit often. All together it was a pleasure to visit and we will definitely be back. I Stayed at the Acorn lodge with my partner for our birthdays.

The property is beautiful, very peaceful and quiet had a wonderful stay. The host (Jeff) was extremely accommodating and responded instantly, second to none! Thank you. Would really recommend the property.

We had a really lovely stay at Acorn Lodge, and would highly recommend it.

The Lodge was beautifully furnished and included everything you could need for a weekend away. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, along with relaxing in front of the wood burner. If you're after a peaceful weekend away, this is the perfect place! Jenkins the cat was a great addition, always happy to receive a fuss (and the occasional little treat), our children were quite sad to say good bye at the end of our stay! The only thing that could do with some attention is the access road, a few of the big holes could do with being filled in, but that's being picky.

Acorn Lodge was lovely and perfect for our weekend away.

We arrived on the Friday when there had been rain and flooding, however the owner was helpful and responsive when asking for advice about how to get there. The hot tub did take a while to warm up, but once it was, it lovely. The owner was great, easily contactable and nearby to help if needed. Would stay again.

We had an absolutely amazing bank holiday weekend!

The location of Acorn Lodge in close proximity to the owner made sure any silly requests we had (and there were a couple, nothing to do with the lodge itself though!) were dealt with quickly. The owners are friendly and attentive and we had a good amount of communication with them and they are open to any feedback or recommendations, even whilst you are there. Acorn lodge itself made for the perfect holiday stay, we were welcomed by the very friendly Jenkins (cat) on arrival, the hot tub was great and once hot it really doesn’t take that long to reheat at all… in fact we overheated on a couple of occasions and had to call in for help

The lodge is absolutely perfect and exactly what we’d hoped for.

It is set in beautiful countryside with a field of cows just over the fence which we loved to watch as we relaxed in the hot tub as the sun set. The hot tub is incredibly easy to use and is far superior to any other we’ve used before. The lodge is stunning. It feels really cosy and traditional but has all the modern appliances you need. Excellent showers and really comfortable beds. It’s incredibly private and peaceful but Jeff and Anna were always on hand if we needed anything and the welcome box of goodies was much appreciated. We’ve stayed in many Sykes cottages over the years and this was our favourite. (P.S We spotted a negative review on this website. The review we read is completely at odds with our experience. We recommend you ignore it).

Could not use the hot tub as it was NOT tested daily and chemicals added.

. Dining chairs were very rickety and on the point of breaking. Beds were atrocious. Bedding cheap nylon. Only 1 pillow each supplied. The lodge reeked of cigarette smoke when we arrived. The cupboard doors and drawers on the dresser were very poor quality and didn’t close or open easily. We left them open because they were in such a poor condition. This place was a disgrace.

We have just got back from an amazing stay at Acorn Lodge.

The lodge was so cozy and comfortable, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. I couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery! My favorite part of the stay was relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. It was the perfect place to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, scenic getaway!

We had a wonderful stay at Acorn lodge.

Really clean, spacious, beautiful, peaceful location. The owners obviously put a lot of thought into the property providing quality furniture. The extra little touches, including infamous Jenkins, who welcomes you on arrival and checks on you throughout the day. This lovely feline “ friend” was never intrusive, but a gentle companion.. We will definitely return.

A beautiful cottage, in a wonderfully peaceful location, yet only 20 minutes or so from Stone.

We had the most relaxing weekend ever, and will definitely stay again. We loved the hot tub and Jenkins, the resident cat who kept us company for most of the weekend. My only suggestion (and sorry if these are provided already and I missed them) would be to have shatterproof cups and glasses to take outside whilst enjoying the hot tub.

Very clean, comfortable accommodation.

Nice clean towels and bedding (with no bobbling on the bedding). Lovely location and so many places to visit. National Trust, Cannock Chase, canal, walking, gardens. Must admit have never been into history very much but the people we came across were extremely knowledgeable on the history of the places we visited. Dog free property which is a plus for me as I am allergic to animal hair.

The property was fantastic, decorated well with a contemporary feel and all little touches throughout which gave it a luxury feel.

Netflix and good Wi-Fi was a very welcome surprise for our teenagers! Information on the surrounding area was well thought out and I liked the touch of reading previous guest stays recommendations. Would definitely stay again

This cottage was an amazing getaway and worth every penny.

The hot tub was easy to use. Very spacious place and comfortable. Had everything we needed and the TVs in each Bedroom were a great touch! Thank you.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at this amazing property.

If you want peace and quiet with lovely views this is the place to be. It has a well stocked kitchen although I feel it could do with a reshuffle as all the plates and cutlery are at the other end of the kitchen, no big deal but irritating. Bedrooms are lovely and a nice touch with the free Netflix. We took a walk to the Green man with was a really friendly little traditional pub. Hot tub was a nice addition we couldn’t get this hot on the first night but then contacted Jeff who advised so it was fine for the rest of the stay, I’m not sure if it’s possible but it would really help if it could be fired up before arrival as we definitely found it took around 4 hours to warm up. Overall a lovely stay in tranquil surroundings. Oh and not forgetting Jenkins who felt like our own pet cat

I had an amazing stay at the Acorn Lodge.

For my brother and partners birthday. It was perfect and they all loved it! It was a cosy and quiet location. The hosts had a folder with information for walks and instructions for the lodge. Hosts were very easy to contact if there was anything we needed help with.Dishwasher easy to use when cleaning up and lots of plates, bowls, cups and utensils available. The chairs at the table could do with some seat cushions (just a personal preference but not required) but other wise everything was perfect. The hot tube was great especially in the cold evenings it was still nice and hot! My brother even went in the hot tub when it was raining! That's how much he loved it. The lay out is amazing and the upstairs bedroom is beautiful.There is a cute cat that is usually around in the day and will come up to the window, which made everyone smile. I would definitely come again!

We stayed at Acorn Lodge for 3 nights for a romantic and ultimate relaxation.

.we definitely got this here! The lodge was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in and the welcome treats were a lovely added gift from the owner on arrival! The lodge had everything we needed, alongside beautiful views. It is definitely in an quiet location, about a 30 minute walk brought us to the Green Man which was a lovely traditional country pub, just definitely walk back while it is still light as this is the closest place! The closest supermarket was about a 20 minute drive, which was clearly noted in the information. Jenkins the cat was the sweetest little neighbour, coming to visit us none stop! I think the only addition we would have liked would be some curtains at the patio doors as late at night that privacy would be nice! Apart from this our stay was fantastic. Would also recommend Shugborough hall for a day out, and the Dog and Doublet for food! Thanks to Jeff for a lovely time.

Back from a stay with 3 friends at Acorn lodge and it is perfect!

Set in a peaceful location with fabulous views over the fields. It was so nice waking up to the sound of nothing! The lodge is well equipped with everything you need, very comfy and furnished to a modern high standard. The welcome back was also greatly received. We had a walk to the local pub The Green Man (approx 35 mins away, recommend the slightly longer route (45 mins) off the more busy roads) which was very friendly (the locals also helped us sort a taxi back home in the evening) and served food in the evening. As others have said, the hot tub is a great bonus as was Jenkins

Booked a 2 night stay just after Christmas.

The Property was amazing, very clean, newly decorated and perfect location for some lovely walks. Loved the log burner and welcome bits, very nice touch by the owner. Didn't make use of the hot tub as it just rained the whole time but the owner set it all up for us and it looks amazing. I would most definitely book this property again. I can't fault anything. Thank you

A really lovely holiday cottage.

So clean and in perfect condition, with everything you'd need for your stay. Comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen, wood burner with plenty of fuel, lots of room to relax and of course, the hot tub. Even thoughtful touches such as Netflix (with an account to use instead of having to try and log in yourself, which is always a pain) and a great welcome pack. The location is lovely (although be warned it is down a bumpy farm track!) on a proper working farm. My toddler was delighted with the cows and farm cat! Geoff was quick to respond to any queries we had and so helpful for the duration of our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to book here again, we had a wonderful time. Thank you Geoff and Anna!

The only suggestion we would make is that it is made clear the hot tub is not ready for use when you arrive, it took 3hrs to warm up once we realised, therefore we did not get to use it until 8pm Friday night.

Once we knew we were fine. We all had a fabulous weekend and would like to return again. Thank you!

Acorn lodge was an excellent place to stay, had been well thought out with the accommodation needs and layout of the property.

Was well kitted out in the kitchen and had everything you may need. The bathrooms were nice and clean with the great need of underfloor heating and they also left nice little bathroom packs with toothbrush, sewing and beauty kits and also left small toiletries which were a nice luxury touch. We had a great weekend with the 2 kids in a luxury feeling property and the hot tub was a great addition which looked over the surrounding fields.

The facilities were first class in this newly refurbished cottage.

It was packed with character and charm and the peaceful surroundings were a real tonic. We could happily have settled in permanently.

The property is nicely tucked away and private which allowed us to feel at one with the lovely views surrounding the cottage. It was nice looking at the cows each morning and getting regular visits from a few cats. The owner went out of their way to provide us with extra facilities for our young baby which was very much appreciated. The hot tub is a nice addition and makes for a great star watching opportunities in the evening. As a family of 5 we were able to get a long fine in the property, it's well positioned for local attractions like Alton Towers etc and so for us it made for good experience and a well needed break away.

The cottage was really well equipped and truly comfortable. We loved the vintage style of the decorations. With plenty of facilities, we were really happy to have Wi-Fi and Netflix provided at the property. To top up the experience, we also got to relax in a very spacious hot tub.
