Amazing clean & spacious property in a great location!

My family loved it & would definitely return.

A very well equipped, clean property in an excellent location for exploring the Peak District.

However, if it is peace and quiet you are looking for then this may not be the place for you. You are very close to the owners home who have young children 2 yappy dogs and a quad bike. Unfortunately we weren't greeted by the owners but were very much aware of their presence.

The cottage itself was comfortable, pleasant and in a lovely rural setting.

The property was advertised with Wi‑Fi when we booked, yet it has been broken for months. In an area where mobile signal only works if you walk outside and up a hill — and even then it’s weak — this caused unnecessary stress throughout the week. The kitchen equipment also needs attention: every non‑stick pan was scratched and worn out and should be replaced with a safer, more durable type.

The cottage is lovely in every way.

It is beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very cosy and warm on arrival - so much that we had to turn down the thermostats as the weather improved. Owners very friendly. We did not find the lack of wi-fi too much of a problem. We got a mobile phone signal by walking a little way outside the cottage and most of the local cafes and pubs have wi-fi available.

Unfortunately the lack of WiFi put a damper on the week and if not resolved would stop us booking again.

We couldn't fault the property at all.

It was spacious, clean, tastefully furnished, well equipped and warm - almost too warm in the night so we had to turn the radiators down, but that's not a complaint! It was a great base for exploring the area in preparation for a big family get-together in May. The real issue for us was the lack of internet connection. It's nice sometimes not to be on your phone, but we had left a bit of a crisis back home and it was really stressful not being able to contact the family and having to go out in the car all the time to try to find a signal. The owner told us the issue is with BT, but I think it should be obvious on the website that there will be problems, especially if an emergency arises and nobody can contact you; or if you're trying to plan a route for the next day, book a restaurant and things like that which we all take for granted these days.

If I could give this cottage 6 stars I would!

The quality of the furnishings is at the top of the range giving comfort in the living and sleeping areas. The kitchen has all the equipment to allow you to feel at home for cooking (if you wish of course). The owners are on hand but not intrusive. If you have children they will love the goats, chickens and cows which are on the doorstep. All in all a perfect cottage for a perfect holiday. Would certainly recommend!!!

The accommodation was absolutely brilliant my only recommendation to the owners would be to have a folder with information showing how the appliances work and phone numbers and postcodes for the nearest supermarkets , pubs,doctors and hospitals etc.

Our second stay at Bank Top in eight months.

It is a wonderful place to stay and base yourself to tour the area, whether walking or visiting country houses, gardens and villages. The cottage is very well appointed, comfortable and I cannot think of anything that it lacks. The hosts are welcoming but never intrusive, we were left to do our own thing, knowing if there were an issue, our hosts were literally next door. This cottage is situated on a working farm. I loved hearing the owls in the early morning then the cows, goats, ducks and cockerel all greeting the day! I thoroughly recommend a stay at Bank Top.

Lovely place and equipped to a high standard.

Close to lots of beauty spots. It is a working farm. There will be some sounds but it wasn't noisy. There were children playing about but that was nice since our boys played with them. There was a little area where you could kick a ball, there was a swing and a slide. The flies were a little annoying when we wanted to settle and relax. The house was lovely and clean. The biscuits and milk was a lovely gesture.

Our stay was just what we needed, a relaxing break away!

The cottage was very clean! It had everything we needed and more! We enjoyed some beautiful walks and visited Chester zoo. The owners and everyone on the farm were so welcoming, we loved sitting outside watching the cows every morning with a coffee. Not the same view now we are home. Can definitely highly recommend. Thank you and might see you again next year.

We had a lovely stay in bank top.

It was a lovely place to stay. My only requests would be a fan as it got very hot in the cottage and if you opened the windows all the flies came in, as it is on a working farm. Also a pack with information regarding bins and what to do when we leave. It was also disappointing not to meet the owners until we were leaving and driving out of the property. Just a simple hello is everything ok would go a long way. That said I would recommend this place to family and friends and one day we may return.

It didn't state that there would be dogs constantly yapping next door.

At weekend and after school very young children were riding a noisy quad bike at speed around both sides of cottage and squealing. We know it is their home and children make noise and it was nice to see them having a water fight. The quad bike was just too much and dangerous. We were aware there would be smell and flies and noise from farm machinery and accepted that. Weren't aware from the photos it was so overlooked by buildings with no view.

A clean, well maintained and equipped cottage.

Ideally suited if you want to access the High Peaks, Tissington and Manifold Way trails, you can cycle down a quiet road to get to Parsley hay in just 10 minutes. Easy access to Buxton and Bakewell as well. The wifi was good enough for streaming on the smart TV. EE phone reception is marginal even outside. Bear in mind this is a working farm so the trade off for the quality accommodation and ideal location is farm noise and odours. There is another cottage attached “Corner Croft” which has three bedrooms and is more suitable for larger families. We have stayed here 5 or 6 times and will no doubt be back again. While you are there try the Tagg Lane Dairy just over the A515 which does the best ice cream.

Bank Top was everything we expected, and more.

Very well equipped and top quality furnishings, at a very reasonable price. Central to all the Peak District has to offer, with lovely friendly pubs nearby offering hearty home cooked food. It was interesting to be in the middle of a working farm and chat to the charming Mr and Mrs Bradbury. We'd certainly recommend to all.

Great property spacious well equipped very clean

The property was absolutely perfect.

It was comfortable, clean with everything supplied to make it a real home from home, they had thought of everything. The surrounding area is so pretty and peaceful with lots of towns and villages not far away, a good central location. We had a wonderful time and would definitely book this cottage again.

I thought the Sykes main picture, taken from the outside, doesn't do it full justice - it's very roomy, modern, warm and generously fitted out. Bathrooms are excellent. The area feels surprisingly remote - car essential - but there are good pubs within a short drive and lots to do in the area.

We have just got back from our recent stay at Bank Top and we did not want to return.

It was a real home from home, milk and biscuits put out for our arrival which was a lovely surprise. A beautiful quiet spot, my son loved watching the tractors go by and really enjoyed seeing the goats and cows! We didn't get a chance to meet the owners but a lovely girl showed us to the holiday cottage as we arrived and a lovely young boy that lives on the farm was so polite and lovely to speak with. The swings and slide was a real added bonus for both children. We have family in the local area and wanted somewhere local to stay.. we are already looking to come back very soon. Thanks for having us. :)

Fabulous property with everything one could wish for in holiday accommodation.

A very pleasant stay in an incredibly well equipped and comfortable property.

A perfect spot for walking the trails. Added bonus was excellent village shop in Longnor and Royal Oak for excellent meals. Definitely one to revisit in the future.

We received a warm pre Christmas welcome, literally!

The cottage was cozy thanks to the underfloor heating. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas which certainly added to the atmosphere. The cottage is well appointed throughout, a well stocked kitchen, more than enough crockery and utensils for four occupants, a generous dining area and a huge lounge with two very comfortable settees as well as an armchair. The bedrooms and bathrooms were tip top. This is a faultless cottage, plenty of room for four adults or a family. It is very well positioned for visits to Chatsworth, Bakewell, Buxton, Haddon Hall and the numerous walking trails in the area. I would certainly consider another visit should we return to the area.

Fantastic property.

Clean, comfortable, friendly host, very well equipped for cooking, cleaning etc... we did not need an additional item (never had that before), very thoughtful with milk on arrival and basics such as oil, salt etc. Extremely warm. My only area for comment improvement would be a welcome book/ page with some key info. We didn't see the local area leaflets until the last day as they were in a draw we didn't need to open. Check out instructions would of been helpful as i had to refer to my emails. Lastly, and most importantly, instructions on how to adjust the heating as it was too hot for us, especially in the living room as it takes a long time to cool down. Lovely feeling though laying down on underfloor heated carpet after a long walk. Would 100% recomend and stay again! I loved hearing the sound of cows.

Welcoming, warm, comfortable, beautifully furnished and equipped, easy to find.

One of the best holiday lets we have stayed in. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending. Just a few minutes drive from Longnor, one of our favourite areas. We must have driven past this accommodation dozens of times and not known it was there!

A very clean, warm and comfortable cottage based in a working dairy farm.

It's very convenient for the start of the Tissington and High Peak Cycling trails, Parsley Hay is a quick 3 mile cycle away along quiet roads. The Wi-Fi (recently upgraded) was good enough to stream Netflix. We have stayed in both Corner Croft and Bank Top before. they are both maintained to the same high standards. The best Ice Cream ever is available just across the A 515 from the Tagg Lane Dairy.

The property has all you need to have a stress free, enjoyable holiday.

This property was booked through a third party, when directed to the payment screen payment was taken by Sykes, the third party had the property listed as having a smart TV and Internet access, it did not, the owner did all they could to facilitate and help, Sykes after confirming that it was listed as having both then sent a message saying case closed no further action as their own site listed it as not having either, Sykes are responsible as they took payment and should therefore compensate, the owner had informed Sykes in June 2023 about the problems, Sykes should have made this information clear wherever the property is listed (or on the payment page) as they are the ones taking the payment.

A fantastic and all too short stay in this beautiful barn conversion.

The accommodation is set in a picturesque fairly remote but easy to find location and is within easy reach of Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Ilam, Dovedale. The accommodation itself is of a very good quality. I've stayed in a fair few holiday cottages and this was by far the best. The decor is of a high standard and all the fixtures and fittings were immaculately clean and of contemporary design. Especially loved the shower, fluffy towels and comfy bed. Despite being on a farm I hardly heard a sound other than an occasional bark from the very friendly farm dog. While I can appreciate the lack of working wifi could be an issue for many we were only there three nights and a good book, tv and cooking easily filled the evening time. Over all, I would definitley stay at Bank Top again. Thank you.

Warm and cosy, spotlessly clean. Enjoyed our stay.

Everything was very good except the issue with WiFi and phone signal.

This has apparently been ongoing since July and whilst I sympathise with the owners if they are trying to resolve the issue without success, we really needed phone access as a minimum. We would also have expected more information about the local area in the cottage, if WiFi was not available. However, the cottage was lovely and an excellent base for exploring the area.

Beautifully furnished and thought out barn conversion in a stunning location.

Absolutely perfect for a long weekend of walking then having this wonderful place to relax in the evening. Nothing has been overlooked and all furniture/appliances are of the very highest standard. Thank you.

Unfortunately on 1st arrival at the cottage l entered into the hallway carrying shopping and did not notice the shoe tray on the floor which l then tripped over and fell very heavily causing considerable bruising to both legs and an arm it was only falling onto the shopping bag the saved my face from hitting the floor .

As you can imagine this rather spoilt my holiday . So l would suggest the hallway should be kept clear and the shoe tray placed at the side of the stairs. Other than that it was a beautiful well equipped cottage .very clean and very comfortable.A couple of extra pillows would have been nice .

We have stayed at this cottage 5 times and we love it.

The cottage is really lovely,immaculately clean and very well furnished,so we'll equipped. Paula, Will and family are very friendly.They always have a busy work schedule but somehow find the time for a chat.We hope to return again next year.

We had a fantastic week in this well equipped cottage.

The cottage is warm, spacious and cozy, a real home from home. It has every thing you need and with a teenager in tow it was perfect with 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plus a loo downstairs. It was lovely to be in the countryside on a working farm (cows, goats, chickens and a very friendly little dog). The kitchen is perfect and has everything you need to self cater, we mainly ate in but did have a lovely evening meal at the Royal Oak pub just down the road. We had such a good time we didn't want to leave and will definitely be back.

Grand daughter loved seeing the animals and playing on the swing. Accommodation provided everything we needed, including stair gates high chair and cot, and easy parking. All rooms very spacious. Lots to do in area including child friendly walks. Would definately recommend.

A wonderful base to explore the area!

The cottage was warm and well equiped with everything we needed for our stay with shops just a few miles away at Buxton or Bakewell which had everything we needed including touristy things like museums/galleries/place of interest. I think we could have easily spent far more time exploring the immediate area which is lovely - that'll have to be next time! The nearby Royal Oak never fails for a last evening meal.

We had a really lovely stay over Christmas.

It was a very comfy cottage in a great location. The kitchen was probably the most well equipped of all the cottages we've ever stayed at. The only minor gripe was that the cold water didn't work in the shower over the bath - we all used the en suite shower, so it wasn't really a problem.

Such a lovely cottage.

Well thought out and provided almost everything we could have needed. The under floor was very effective & we felt snug despite the weather outside. Only thing was a lack of shaver charging point - not an issue but wish we’d have known in advance and would have brought the adapter.

There was milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine upon arrival, which was a nice surprise. The cottage it's self is perfect. They provided everything for our 19month baby included bedding, towels, cot and high chair. So if we were travelling lighter or forgot anything it was there for her. If I was going to be picky, a king size bed would be lovely in the master bedroom as both my husband and are big people. And more plumb pillows. Also the curtain rails needed a slight dust at the ends. But that is being very picky. I would return in a heartbeat. Best cottage we've stayed in Derbyshire.

Our 3rd stay at Bank Top.

What an amazing property and location. Plenty of space and a fully equipped property with everything you could need. Such a nice place to return to after a day of adventures. We brought our bikes and visited various local trails (High Peak / Tissington / Monsal / Manifold Way). Other highlights this year included Heatherage outdoor swimming pool, Lyme Park National Trust and Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath. For ice cream you are spoilt. All of these are excellent. Tagg Lane, Pomeroy Farm, Tearoom in Monyash, Matlock Meadows, Hope Valley ice cream. Thank you, we can’t wait to return!

Superb Cottage, we have stayed in both cottages here and they are fabulous.

Immaculate and very well equipped. We also had a twice daily visitor of the little dog, she was just so cute and loveable.

We had a lovely view of the chickens and goats being fed in the morning when we were having our breakffast. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Excellent accommodation with spectacular view.

Very comfortable, spacious and well-equipped.

The kitchen in particular was a pleasure to use. Unsurprisingly in this very rural area, there's little to no mobile signal in the property, but it's only a couple of hundred yards away. We enjoyed a variety of walks from the doorstep, with stunning scenery in all directions. The farm sits on a crossroads; all the roads are quiet and there are plenty of public footpaths nearby. Equally, it's not far from Dovedale and the Manifold Valley - or from Buxton or Bakewell.

We had such a lovely weekend break at Bank Top.

The cottage was immaculate, warm and spacious. Our little boy loved being on the farm and enjoyed watching the chickens out the window. The owner was so friendly and even let us in the barn to see the cows and the baby goats which our son loved. Would recommend Bank Top to anyone!

The property was sparkling clean, spacious and very nicely furnished.

Everything we needed was provided, including gifts of milk and wine. We had to turn the thermostat down from 24 to 18 as it was so warm. There were some great walks from the nearby villages.

Amazingly good property, very clean and spacious, and equipped to a high standard.

We loved this property for our Christmas escape for a quiet time away. We were out walking every day in the cold, wet, and very foggy conditions and it was so nice to come back to a warm (underfloor heating) cosy, and very comfortable property to warm up and relax in, couldn't have been better.

Fantastic property. Easy to find with soft cattle noise as a sound back drop. Spacious & light accommodation, very warm. Decor & furnishings felt brand new. Everything you could require at the property. In a stunning location for local walking and visiting the area e.g. Monsal Trail & Buxton. Property next door appeared to be exactly the same plus an extra bedroom. When I return for the walking, I will be staying here if it's available. Thanks to my host Paula and her family. Merry Xmas. Great, comfortable cottage with easy parking in a great location for sightseeing.

Plus an ice cream parlour within 2 miles. Spacious bedrooms, kitchen and lounge. Good shower and heating. Fabulous equipped kitchen, best ever we have stayed in. Only problem was the cockerel. I know it is a working farm but the cockerel disturbed our sleep every night. Some nights waking us (party of 4) several times throughout the night, then the dog would whine. So this cottage is not for light sleepers, which is such a shame because the cottage and it's location is otherwise perfect.

A beautiful cottage no expense spared on the quality.

We were made very welcome, lovely to wander and see the cows without any hassle. Everyone on the farm were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly book again. Far enough away from the towns to be in the countryside, but close enough to visit landmarks. Thankyou everyone.

Still excellent with everything you need for a nice week away. Lots of space, friendly owners and in the middle of nowhere which we love. Hope to be back next year for more!

It was very well equipped, the perfect size for the four of us and well heated.

We spent half term at Bank Top exploring the area. Location wise you are truly in the middle of nowhere which we love but also really close to the High Peak and Tissington trails for cycling and walking. Bakewell and Buxton are a 15 mins away and Matlock not much further. If you like ice cream all year round you must visit Tagg Lane Dairy 5 mins away by car. Can’t wait to return. Thank you

Our second visit just as great as the first one

Accommodation was spotlessly clean and well equipped.

It was very clear that the owners have taken the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and we felt very safe and secure at the accommodation.

A beautiful cottage with very friendly knowledgable owners.

The cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed. The children enjoyed playing on the swings and seeing the cows being milked! We enjoyed that we could cycle to the Tissington trail from the cottage so we didn't have to use the car!

We Returned as it is the best cottage we have had over the years.It is such a lovely cottage furnished to a very high standard and spotlessly clean.it has everything you need in the kitchen too.The owners Will and Paula along with their families made us very welcome,they are genuinely a lovely family.It is in a good area nice and peaceful but within a short drive too many towns.We are already booked for next year and it can't come soon enough.

Great holiday house and very friendly helpful hosts.

Extremely spacious for a 2 bed holiday rental (would suit 2 couples as well as families), super clean, very comfy beds and the fluffiest towels! Extremely well equipped kitchen which even included baking equipment :) Games had been removed, but we’d been expecting this following a Covid update email from Sykes so took our own. Great quiet location (our first time staying in a farm), just a mile from Hurdlow where you can pick up the High Peak cycle & walking trail which also leads onto the Tissington trail. A very easy 10-15 mins drive into Buxton, 20 mins drive to Monsal Head. We can recommend the 30 min drive to Carsington Water for cycling & walking too. We didn’t visit any pubs or restaurants (we’ve not yet taken the plunge to eat out post lockdown), but there are many lovely looking pubs with beer gardens in the vicinity. But we did stop for outdoor refreshments at the cafe’s and kiosk’s along the cycle trails, all catered for all dietary requirements which was lovely as we have 2 dairy free in our family (vegan ice cream was stocked at most places). Highly recommended and we’d certainly stay again...maybe with friends next time as there’s a second holiday house next door :)

Excellent location for walking & cycling. Unfortunately had to cut holiday short due to Coronavirus,had to get back to work as a nurse. ,

This cottage is just perfect .

The decor , furniture , bathrooms , kitchen are all excellent . We couldn’t fault it at all. I don’t think we have ever had such good quality in a holiday cottage . Perfection .

Bank Cottage is a perfect place to enjoy the surroundings of the countryside.

Set on a working farm it was a joy to watch the cows being walked to & from the milking shed while sitting outside with a glass of wine & the sun shining...... bliss! Travelling around the area seeing all the beautiful countryside & the local towns & villages of Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne while not forgetting a trip to Holmfirth & ride on the small touring bus around “Last of the Summerwine” locations with a very knowledgeable driver.

A brilliant place to stay in the Peak District.

The accommodation is clean and quiet. Would recommend this place to a family looking to venture around the Peaks!

The cottage was immaculate.

It was if it had never been lived in, in terms of cleanliness. The host had everything covered; a good selection of towels, every kitchen utensil you could think of and even a couple of dishwasher and laundry tablets, which in our experience is pretty rare (we took our own just in case). The cottage was really warm, a little too warm at times (mainly at night) but that’s down to us not figuring out the thermostat I expect (plus it was unusually warm for Feb, which was a dream). Our 3 year old loved the cows, climbing frame and swing, our 8 week old slept; biggest compliment we can give! We’d definitely go back :)

We had such a fabulous time.

The place was absolutely perfect and was even decorated for Xmas, which we didn’t expect. Nothing was too much trouble and the location was peaceful and simply lovely. I can’t recommend it enough.

Clean and well presented, we didn't want for anything during our stay. Was lovely to see the cows and stay on a working farm. Ideally situated for exploring the Peak District

Our second stay here - great cottage, excellently equipped, though they mustn't let standards slip - lock on downstairs cloakroom door is broken, but nothing else to mention.

Yes, it is on an actual farm and you can see that from the windows, but as a base to explore the local area, I don't think it could have been better for us.

The cottage itself was very well appointed and cleanliness and attention to detail were excellent.

It was lovely to stay somewhere where the crockery and cutlery had obviously been purchased for the property and was of good quality. However, we felt that the pictures on the website were misleading as far as the view was concerned. It faced the owners farmhouse and three dogs who were permanently tied up. The dogs themselves were lovely and being farm dogs we do understand that they are treated differently to pets. We also suffered from rather a lot of flies which seemed immune to fly spray. It may not be fair to the owners publish these comments as I'm sure the cottage would suit many people - just not us again. We prefer to have a better view from the property.

This is a fantastic cottage with everything you could need.
