  • "Barn Croft Cottage - just perfect!"

! Super cosy cottage with fabulous garden - perfect for two people. Lovely peaceful garden - so nice to sit out listening to birds singing, sheep in the field and hens pecking nearby. Carolyn's fruit cake was marvellous too, along with many extras - groceries, eggs, butter, milk, bread and wine, along with fresh flowers. There is a hairdryer, iron & ironing board, DVD player, CD player, hot water bottles, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen tea-towels, & kitchen roll. Elton Church bells ring on a Thursday evening and were delightful. Local buses to Bakewell & Matlock excellent - bus stop just by Elton church at top of lane. All in all a lovely cottage in beautiful, peaceful surroundings - would highly recommend.

There are plenty of good walks nearby and it’s beautiful countryside . Also the chip van at the top of the road on a Thursday evening was an added bonus as the quality was excellent. It was comfortable, very clean, hosts were lovely, and the location was charming and well-paced to explore lots of beautiful places nearby. The welcome gifts were much appreciated, special mention to the home made cake! Elton as a village offers good walking options from the cottage doorstep, so ideal if you have a dog. The garden is well looked after and secure and peaceful. A very minor issue would be the wi-fi signal being poor but this is likely due to the rural location and unavoidable, so not intended as a criticism. We were very happy with our choice and hope to come back!

Small but comfortable accommodation with extremely well equipped kitchen. Becoming a little dated in some other areas but of a perfectly acceptable standard. We were a bit nervous of the light coloured carpet in the lounge with our dog on what was a very wet stay. Would recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet location with walking on your doorstep and lots of places of interest just a short drive away.
