Sauna and hot tub made our stay just perfect for that relaxing break away. Met two of the maintenance team, Kieron and the other I didn’t catch his name but both very nice guys. Gave us lots of information on the area and recommend a few places to visit. Blue Ball just a few minutes taxi ride does some great food. Thanks for a great stay!

  • "This is an absolutely fantastic place to visit."

We loved our week here but somethings were a little bit of a struggle if you have any back or hip problems. The sofa is extremely soft and low. And the chairs are also low and soft with no support. The mattresses felt like you would fall out of bed as they peaked in the middle. The views in the hot tub are amazing. And the sauna was so refreshing on the morning. Felt like you were in another world. The owner and manager came to visit us at our request and they were great to deal with. The shepherds hut is amazing on the property. The garden was enclosed so my chihuahua had free space in the garden. The roads are very country narrow and bendy so you need to consider this if you’re a nervous driver. We found a farm house on next hill along about 2 minute from the house in a car that did fresh hen, duck and goose eggs. There is also Fox Valley shopping centre with Iceland and Aldi and home bargains, boots and Costa and an few other shops about a 10 minute drive away so we were able to shop often for the week with fresh goods. The views are outstanding and the walks around the reservoirs are stunning. Sitting in the hot tub you can see the horses and rabbits running across the fields or look at the view the opposite way which is trees and hear the birds singing. The garden was set up brilliant with plenty of seating. The local pub (The Castle Inn) is all up hill to get there and on a narrow bendy road so walking we felt was a bit treacherous for that. So may need to assign a designated driver or organise a taxi. Overall I absolutely would recommend 2 Pheasant Lane. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was sofa and mattresses in the main house. Other than that we loved being here.

We had an amazing time, lovely house and shepherd's huts in beautiful surroundings, there were some lovely walks and local pub (all up hill, so bring your best walking shoes!) If you are a nature lover and like the peace and quiet this is the perfect place. Hot tub and sauna were great and we all enjoyed relaxing. Weather is strange, you can have all seasons in a day! So take clothes for all eventualities. Last but no means least, host was amazing, nothing to much trouble and very helpful, on day of leaving a family member had an issue with his car the host went above and beyond, thank you once again! we would definitely reccomend this place, a well deserved 5 stars for both property and host, can't fault it!

  • "Our family spent a week here."

The property description is far from accurate and needs reviewing. The BBQ and Pizza Oven have not been cleaned in a long time and therefore we chose not to use them. The property description indicates a high standard of finish all round and to be fair, it may have been in years gone by, but not now. The sofa arrangement is worn out and the soft furnishings all need attention. The white kitchen units have been repainted grey which is now peeling off. We left a list of issues for the caretaker to fix - i.e. kettle did not boil properly in the main bungalow, iron did not work, hot tub filter needs cleaning and overuse of chemicals meant the tub was unusable for several hours during our stay. We suspect the water also needs changing. Grass was not cut, weeds all over the place and brambles - not brilliant for our grandchildren and dog playing outside. Fortunately the weather was great and we were able to make use of the local countryside which is beautiful.

Had a great stay - in particular was good there was a lot of space to store food, the jacuzzi was used all the time, and the beds INCREDIBLY comfortanle. A few things just to improve: - we were told someone would come to attend to the hot-tub - this didn't happen and by the end of the week the water was quite low - we couldn't really work out how much to turn the dial of the oven, perhaps a small guide would help as all the markings faded (or use a permanent marker). We just tried the first or second notch. Thats it. Thank you.

  • "Very clean, a great welcome and a comfortable place."

Lovely touches of moulton brown accessories. The experience is lowered by a few things that are very dated and worn. Given the place sleeps 8 the number of glasses was limited and unmatching for just 4 of us. Nice welcome pack fo biscuits, tea and coffee but no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets, etc. Things like microwave which is so worn you can’t read any of the dials. Small details given how good the rest of the place and the details offered elsewhere.

Thank you for your review. We have actioned the issue with the microwave and it has now been replaced. Whilst you were with us if you had made us aware of the glasses, we have replacements on site and would have been happy to accommodate, apologies. We have also included a couple of dishwasher tablets to our welcome pack. Once again thank you for a lovely review and hope to see you again. Property Owner

The property is spacious, with great open plan social space inside and out. The beds are comfortable, bedrooms have good storage space. And it was lovely to wake up hearing the birds every morning in a beautiful location. (Perhaps not the pheasants at 6am, but what else can you expect on Pheasant Lane?!) The kitchen has everything you could want to make this feel like a home from home. We enjoyed the hot tub and sauna and the property is in a great location for running or walking routes. The welcome pack and tour from Keiran on our arrival was very kind. A great find, we can’t wait to go back again. We received the wrong contact point details for the property to arrange key collection from Sykes Cottages in an email. Thankfully, the person we contacted in advance of our stay, who had left the role, was very understanding and put us in touch with Keiran- the new contact. We noticed the old contact details name and number are still in the property information pack in the house (but not on the online version Kieran sent us) and Kieran’s name, but the the wrong phone number for key collection details were on the Sykes Cottages online account, just wanted to mention so this can be updated so others don’t have the same experience.

  • "Beautiful property, perfectly situated, great layout."

Only downside, really old microwave, unable to set accurate time, no turn table, so food heated unevenly, and often too much. Old oven worn out markings like the microwave, unable to work out settings resulting in at least 2 burnt meals and great difficulty in timing how long food would take to cook on the different turns of the dial. Real shame, let the property down. Pizza oven lit well, not suitable to put pizza in without some sort of tray - nothing provided- but we did take our own pizza stone anticipating this, so enjoyed a lovely smokey pizza. Hot tub had bubble problems but sorted quickly by Lyndsey, and due for service in next few weeks so should be sorted. Could do with an awning that can be pulled across and retracted depending on guests desire - especially given the price and location - opportunity to use when raining or shade from sun - the adjacent sauna was perfect, good temperature and economic use of timer excellent. We really enjoyed our break and with 3 generations of family together this layout really worked.

Spacious inside and outside. Plenty of parking. Fantastic views. Lovely welcome pack on arrival. Plenty of towels for both bathing and sauna/hot tub. Pheasants and ducks seen daily close to the property. Dog enjoyed his walks around the reservoir close bye. Very hilly area but lovely walks. A very well stocked Aldi store not far away by car. We used all of the facilities including the pizza oven which we had never used before. Had one minor problem which Lyndsay, the lovely, friendly and helpful caretaker sorted swiftly. I found the settee and armchairs a little low but otherwise highly recommend the property.

The facilities are brilliant. Considering we were there through 3 major storms, very high winds, an electricity cut, flooding, snow, hail and minus temperatures we still had a great family stay with ages 6 months to a partially disabled 70! The hot tub and sauna were in use daily, with separate towels provided, as was the log fire. The pizza oven was a hit. The area is superb for walking both from the cottage and to drive to, site seeing, eating out and shopping. Everything was there we needed and the manager Lindsay was always available for queries or problems. During the electricity cut she updated us as she knew and told us where to go where it was on for food etc. She came over with a separate heater for the shepherds hut when one of them was running well and organised people to come in. The place was spotless and had everything! Beds are comfortable. I genuinely cannot think of any negatives. There were 5 adults, 2 teenagers, a baby and 3 dogs. (Sykes were excellent sorting with the owner an extra dog gained in a last minute emergency). Also the whole booking process was made easy through Sykes.

Also I tried to contact Sykes on Sunday day 3 of our holiday to realise there is no email I can use to explain a problem at the cottage. We booked the cottage for the 10min walk to shop and pub AND the sauna and hot tub. I have already explained about the first part and then and Day 3 the sauna was not working - when we got the caretaker to help she came but there was nothing they could do so we did not have use of this feature for 5 days of our 7 day break! However we had a number of complaints about the grounds which we passed onto Sykes when we came home as we were informed when we arrived that there was no one to maintain the outside of the property. I contacted Sykes originally as I did not wish to leave an unfavourable public review. However, both their response and the response of the owner (not the woman who met us who was very helpful) has been most unacceptable, in that I had to pester Sykes for a response then when it came back they merely passed on the owners explanation which was to blame the weather and quick turn around between clients as well as saying we should have informed them straight away. (we did and were told there was no one to maintain the outside)The main issues were that the garden at the front was full of weeds, the plants at the back in the big pots were dead, there was a huge pot of stagnant water at the entrance, the patio was uneven, the umbrellas for the patio furniture were broken, the barbeque and pizza oven were filthy (we cleaned them) as well as the bins being full when we got there so having to take our rubbish down to a skip. I had assumed that Sykes regularly checked the properties on their site but this seems not to be the case. Needless to say we will not be booking with Sykes again.

  • "It was a wonderful staycation break that provided a relaxing recharge and the opportunity to do absolutely nothing other than rest and be with loved ones."

Lyndsay was a thoughtful and supportive but not a all intrusive guide and help to us and the welcome pack was much appreciated. The hot tub / jacuzzi was amazing. A couple of minor observations to make the experience even better / more relaxing for dog owners. 1. A fence and gate between 1 and 2 is a must have. 2. A gate or fence between the Rimington and the fence. 3. Screening off the underneath of the entire Shepherds hut. 4. Adding a low bar to the boundary fence between the bottom rail and the first rail. One of our dogs got through when she saw the Pheasants, didn't bother the Pheasants but scared us. We had a great time and would love to stay again.

We really enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. Lovely large open plan lounge kitchen diner, which was a great social space for all the family. We also enjoyed home made pizza using the outdoor pizza oven.

Lyndsay made us feel very welcome and that we could bother her for the smallest of issues (never had to). Hot tub and sauna where a treat to enjoy at the end of a long day. Would definitely stay again.

Back drop is beautiful and the facilities were amazing. There's a town about a 10 minute drive away should you forget the essentials but due to the location of the cottage you don't see any of the major traffic perfect combination of location and luxury for a relaxing weekend with some beautiful walks right on your door step would highly recommend for a friends and family getaway.

  • "We had a fantastic weekend at 2 Pheasant Lane."

The hot tub and sauna got a lot of use! Lindsay was there to greet us/show us around and offered any help we needed. The welcome pack was really useful too. No need to bring your own tea and coffee. The house is clean and modern and we couldn’t find fault with anything. If I had to I’d say the pillows were a little too firm. I’d definitely recommend and hope to come back myself. Thanks

  • "We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful cottage, the setting and facilities made the stay wonderful."

We were a little surprised some basic stuff wasn't provided eg dishwasher tablets/washing up sponges and wood for the fire as this is something a guest is unlikely to think to bring - although the welcome pack was really appreciated we personally would prefer simple things like the above to be provided rather than a welcome back Again we don't come to these places to watch TV but the TV was oddly very difficult to use which is ironic for a bunch of tech savvie people to say Goes without saying this is a beautiful place which we would highly recommend, the above is only constructive not meant to offensive :)
