  • "We had such a fantastic time in this lovely property over our Easter break, huge thanks to David and Andrea for being so welcoming throughout our stay."

The cottage was well equipped with all we needed and all the facilities were in good condition, the fireplace made for a great place to rest after a fun day's activities in the local area. The setting of the property, away from the road and surrounded by fields made for a great detox from city living. We visited Denby Pottery Village, Carsington Water, Go-Ape Buxton and a handful of National Trust Properties, all lovely spots to spend the day and within an hour's drive. We can highly recommend this property to anyone and definitely anticipate another visit in the future!

  • "This was a great experience."

“Barn Owl” is superbly equipped, all facilities of the highest quality. The cottage owners have worked very hard to achieve this standard and as a result we enjoyed our best holiday ever. Nothing is too much trouble for David and Andrea and we thank them most sincerely for sharing their beautiful grounds with us. It is our intention to return again in the near future.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Barn Owl for a week in February."

The log burner was great and made it really cosy, but even without the fire burning it was still comfortably warm. The cottage was beautifully furnished and clean. The hamper provided was a lovely touch. Thank you to David for being such a great host and suggesting nearby places of interest and good pubs and restaurants. The only thing we could suggest is a coat stand / hook by the door to hang coats!

  • "This was our first cottage break experience, and we had our 3 month old baby with us too and what a great first cottage break experience."

David was an amazing and helpful host. His cottage felt like we were at home with all the amenities that were provided for us. The luxurious amenities and little touches such as the hamper, things for us to read and do, the fire burner, the lush bedding and towels were just perfect. The cottage is set on beautiful private grounds really giving that faraway holiday experience. In the recommendations folder we spent a day at Matlock Bath which was only 30 minutes away. We will definitely be back, we truly loved our time at the cottage. A wonderful way to bring in the new year as new parents. Thank you David!

Accommodation well presented with generous welcome pack. On the edge of The Peaks so enjoyed many walks in the area. We drove to a couple of excellent pubs to eat. Guests need to be aware that the turning to the property is very narrow and off a fast road…we missed it a few times especially in the dark! We loved the wood burner! Debbie and Simon

It was very quiet and away from the main road. There’s lots of wildlife around the cottage.(Squirrels, rabbits, hares, pheasants and birds.) There’s lots to do around this area without having to drive too far. The owner and his wife are very polite, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. • "Magnificent!"

My wife and I loved this place. Newly converted barn in the substantial grounds of the owners property, gives you plenty of space and peace. The accommodation is amazingly appointed. David and Andrea have not spared any expense. On arrival, well, we’ve never seen a welcome hamper like it. So generous and a lovely touch. It’s often disappointing to find basic kitchenware but not here. The finest crockery and cutlery, quality electrical appliances and glasses. To us, this is important and exceeded expectations. So lovely was the crockery, we’ve bought some for ourselves and know it’s not bargain shop branding. A lovely log burner in place and we were provided a good daily supply of wood at no expense. David is on hand when and if needed. Polite and helpful when recommending places to visit. Part way through the week, he even delivered us fresh towels without us asking. Lovely and soft quality too. There’s a new ‘Smart TV’ in the lounge and bedroom and they’ve even provided Netflix. There’s plenty of outside space to sit in the sun with a coffee or whatever but if the weathers not up to it, it’s a lovely cottage to be cosied up in. We will definitely be back.

It was clean, comfortable and well planned out by the owner. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. On vacating the premises, we did make a couple of minor suggestions to improve an already super holiday home which I'm sure will be implemented if they haven't been already.
