Lovely cottage and everything was in great condition.

Location was brilliant for exploring the local area. A downstairs loo would be useful and a pint of milk would have been a nice touch.

Beds were very comfy, and we had a great week exploring the area. The kitchen/diner was a great sociable space and our kids loved the board games selection provided. Thank you.

'Beautiful Stone Cottage in Taddington' We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodgate Cottage with our spaniel.

Great Kitchen/Diner space with fully equipped kitchen, lot's of crockery/glasses etc, and lovely big dining table. We loved the utility space as we have a dog and the cosy snug room for TV was a lovely space to relax in with glass of wine or two! Bedrooms all great sizes, bed super comfy & shower very powerful & always lot's hot water. Loved garden space too & was 'enclosed' enough for our dog to be safe outside. As a keen gardener I tried rescue lovely rose bush that had fallen over onto the grass, then got carried away tidying up, but it was lovely sunny day and I enjoyed myself :-) ..Only things I'd say to improve on would be a clothes airer to put in utility to dry clothes, chair in kitchen/diner a little uncomfortable if sitting on for a bit and maybe couple more bits in welcome pack. We had a super time though & can't wait re-visit when we can try out the log burner!. Oh and the Queens Arms is great local, lovely food and welcome. In fact lot great pubs in area too!

Absolutely loved this house.

Great location, nice quiet village but very easy to visit local places. It was very homely & welcoming & beautifully decorated. Great shower & very comfortable beds too. We really enjoyed our holiday in Taddington. (The only reason I gave a slightly lower rating for two tiny things; there were quite large cobwebs on lounge ceiling & kitchen clock needed a new battery, which we replaced).

What a find!

The cottage had everything we needed, and more. The kitchen diner was a lovely area, the utility room a real bonus. The sitting room was very comfy, again t hen entrance hall was an added advantage. The mattress was so comfortable and all of the bedrooms were a good size. The garden was more than secure for our Labrador. The parking area was fine. We’ll definitely be coming back to stay at Woodgate.

Village pub has good food and beer. Very well equipped house, only thing we would have liked in addition, a clothes airer/drying rack. Thanks for a good stay.

Lovely, clean, homely and cosy cottage.

Very well-equipped kitchen which was appreciated. Location was great, very quiet but pub just down the road. Thank you for a fantastic stay. A note for the owner only, not review - the extractor fan in the bathroom was very loud during our stay so might be worth taking a look at whether this needs cleaned out? We put the bins out, but perhaps was the wrong day, or was changed because of the bank holiday, so the recycling bin is quite full sorry.

Fabulous Cottage, well equipped and lovely comfortable beds.

Great little village with a fabulous pub serving very tasty food just a 5 minute walk away. Garden was dog friendly and the parking space was an added bonus. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and stay here again, thank you.

Our 2nd visit to Woodgate we love it there!

The cottage is well equipped and has everything you need for a perfect stay. The location is ideal for easy access to most of the Peak District. Will definitely return!

Our family had a lovely week staying at Woodgate, couldn’t have asked for more.

The place is perfectly positioned in the peaks to explore lots of stunning walks - and books and maps on the shelves in the cottage for inspiration. The cottage has everything you need, it is really well kitted out, comfortable and well laid out. The kitchen has everything you need, there are games on the shelves to play, and the woodburner provides extra coziness. Would love to return and definitely recommend.

A truly lovely cottage probably one of the best I have stayed in.

Taddington is quiet but a great pub with great food is a bonus. Great location for travelling around Derbyshire and great for travelling to the good hiking spots. Would definitely stay again.

Great location and cottage overall was good.

We really appreciated the guidebooks and maps, especially the walks for dogs. Minor points on the downside, the hoover was left full and besides the compost/green bin there was no general waste bin in the kitchen or utility room. Only one small one in the bathroom room upstairs. Never stayed somewhere that didn't have a general rubbish bin. The cottage instructions mentioned black bin bags but we couldn't find any. It didn't detract from a great stay and it's these minor points which resulted in a rating of four stars as opposed to five.

We (3 adults + 1 teenager + 2 dogs) had a really lovely time staying at Woodgate - the cottage was charming, warm, cosy and comfortable, and very well kitted out with everything we could possibly want - thanks to host Caroline for making it all so welcoming.

It’s in an excellent location with Buxton and Bakewell nearby, and a beautiful setting in a lovely, unspoilt, quiet village. The tiny garden at the back is safe for medium/large dogs, and there's a footpath right opposite for short walks, and longer walks just a few minutes' drive away. We would definitely recommend it! The only thing I would point out to future visitors is that the cottage is right on the street; the pavement runs alongside the windows, so passers-by can see straight in. And the cottage is also directly overlooked by the one across the lane too, so it's a bit of a goldfish bowl if the curtains are open (luckily for us, the property opposite was under renovation, so it was empty).

Woodgate is a beautiful cottage in a lovely village, located perfectly for visiting the area.

It is furnished to a very high standard and the kitchen is very well equipped. The owner has thought of everything to ensure an enjoyable stay. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

A heads up that there are two key boxes on the rear of the property - the correct one to use is the one on the left (immediately around the corner from the back door).

Woodgate is a lovely home from home with everything you could need & very comfortable beds.

It's very convenient for exploring the Monsal Trail & surrounding area.

The wood burner kept the whole house toasty and warm easily. Excellent family bathroom with instant hot water. Everyone we met were so friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay at woodgate. We will definately be back. Thank you.

We had a great stay in this beautiful cottage.

The cottage is clean, nicely decorated and well-equipped with everything you might need and had plenty of space for our family of five. Taddington is a very pretty village with lots of walks and a good local pub. It is conveniently located, a short drive from Buxton and Bakewell, and close to many tourist attractions although that means there is some traffic noise from a nearby road. I would certainly recommend the cottage to friends and family.

Whilst the property itself was well presented and tastefully furnished, there are some issues to feedback.

Firstly the grass had not been cut, it was at least 12” high, we therefore had to cut it before we could use the garden. The garden was not enclosed, as our 2 small dogs were able to get through the ornate fencing, we therefore had to create a barrier with bin bags, not ideal and not very relaxing. One bathroom, especially 1 toilet, for 2 families was a push; no shower mat and no bath mat provided; no proper bin; no recycling instructions - had to go on line to look these up; no stair gate to prevent dogs going upstairs; bike store locked so unable to be used; ‘on leaving’ cleaning instructions were unbelievable! Really do you expect guests to do that, yes leave it clean and tidy but not go to that extreme.

We had a wonderful 5 days at Woodgate.

The house is comfortable, well equipped and spotless. The location is great--there are a lot of nice hikes you can take right from the doorstep, and there is a friendly pub down the street to relax in afterwards. It's an easy drive to stately homes like Haddon Hall or Chatsworth House. Our hostess could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, even delivering a synthetic duvet to our door when I let her know that one of our party was allergic to feathers. We have great memories of this place, and we hope to go back again.

An incredibly well furnished cottage with so many lovely finishing touches. The owner made such a kind gesture, because of the severe weather, we could stay over , rather than worry about rushing off in heavy snow. A lovely friendly pub just a couple of minutes walk away, also made the escape perfect. Lovely walks from the doorstep and stunning views. Thank you to both Sykes and the cottage owner for making our stay an absolute pleasure.
