  • "Property description was 100% accurate - even down to close proximity of a busy road (which we did not find too intrusive and did not impact our stay at all)."

On arrival we found a lovely welcome basket of goodies and a card - what a lovely touch. The property was a delight - extremely spacious, well presented and equipped. We can highly recommend the Nags Head pub next door for food and real ale too (very friendly, quiet village pub).

Thank you for your kind words, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back soon. Best Wishes Karen and Andy Property Owner

The property is beautiful and of the highest standard. It really has everything you would ever need. There was a lovely and thoughtful welcome basket with lots of lovely touches including things for our dogs (for bowls, mats, towels treats etc). I would definitely recommend this. Carsington water is only a 10 minute drive away and is great for dogs. Thank you so much for a perfect stay. Mark, Nottingham.

I cannot fault the cottage. It is spotless and has everything you need. The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are really comfortable. The bathrooms are lovely and it was so nice to sit in the lounge with a real fire after a day out. It is dog friendly and the owners even left bedding, blankets and bowels for the dog. The garden is secure and there is a good driveway for the car. We also received a really nice welcome pack when we arrived. It is in a great location - easy reach of Matlock, Ashbourne, Derby and National Trust properties. Carsington Waters is a beautiful walk and is only 10 minutes away. There is also a good pub next door. The road caused us no issues and we didn't even notice it once in the house. Thank you for a great break and we would definitely book again.

If you think otherwise then sorry you are being picky. The parking area and grassed area ideal for dogs and children plenty of room for 2 large cars that we had. Yes it’s a main road but easy enough to reverse in and your on route to start your day in the many areas of interest close by. We didn’t use the dog cleaning facility but what an added extra to make life easier after a muddy walk. Thank you for the break we needed

  • "Superb weeks stay at Valley View."

The property was very clean and well maintained inside and out. Kitchen fully equipped with quality items, with everything you could possibly need, good sized fridge/freezer. Comfy beds/quality bedding with pillow and mattress protectors, seating very comfy and lovely bathroom facilities with quality towels. Heating fully adjustable and plenty of fire logs. As clearly stated, property is on a main busy road, we found the only room affected by this is the downstairs bedroom on the front but we did not use this, however it is a great room for makeup and hair as its really light with dressing table. There is a ring video doorbell which we assume is monitored by the owners for security which is reassuring but is not audible in the property so guests are not disturbed. Good owner communication from Karen and a very special thanks for the excellent quality alternative vegetarian welcome pack. Would definitely recommend.

The welcome pack was amazing and very much appreciated, unfortunately The noise from the road is advised in the description but we found it extremely loud and at times shuck the building so difficult to sleep especially as it was warm and we needed the window open. ( A note just for the owners please, the wet room drainage did not work very well it appeared the long drain did not work at all and the small square struggled to cope at times )

We thank you for your feedback, glad you enjoyed your stay, we have taken your comments on board and have had it looked at. Property Owner

The only thing stopping me giving 5stars, was the tv. The one and only time I managed to get it on the picture was dark and the sound so low you could hardly hear it. No way of adjusting it as you only had Sky controller. Apart from that we had a good time.

You didn’t need for anything, washing liquid provided in the utility, dishwasher tablets under the sink, the hosts thought of everything. We loved chatting with you to hear about the history of the property and how it was a post office! We’d happily return, the dogs thoroughly enjoyed the walks around the Peak District. Just a genuinely gorgeous place. Thank you.

Very clean and comfortable, especially the beds. Facilities were fantastic, especially the bathrooms, my daughters in particular liked the Bluetooth mirrors. The cottage is exactly as the description and pictures show, a home from home.

About the location

ASHBOURNE

Matlock 15.7 miles; Bakewell 16.6 miles; Chatsworth 20.4 miles.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.
