The Olde Drill House

We were disappointed with certain parts especially the ensuite shower which was practically unusable because of the damp and musty smell.

The other bathroom although clean had cracked floor tiles. Also throughout there were numerous cob webs and the window sills had dirty marks

Really nice property, great views.

st Luke's really should be made clear it is a no go for cars, as we arrived in the dark in a XC90 and had quite a harrowing exit the following day. God awful smell from the ensuite. We kept the door shut. We had a good stay despite this.

We loved our stay at The Olde Drill House and would recommend it to others.

The view was fabulous and the location was perfect for exploring Ironbridge. We parked up the hill on Church Street and had no issues finding a space. The kitchen had everything we needed and the house was very comfortable. The only slightly negative piece of feedback we had was that there was an unpleasant drain type of smell in the main bedroom en-suite which never cleared, but this was the only negative point for us in a lovely few days away. Thank you.

A very clean, spacious and well equipped property.

We did have difficulty with the Yale lock as it jammed shut locking us in and took us 20 minutes to escape! Hence we only used the mortice lock after that. Please tell the owners the shower hose on the en suite leaks badly.

The Olde Drill House was a perfect stay for visiting not just Ironbridge but Shropshire in general.

From there it was easy to visit places like Ludlow, the Black Country Museum and Boscobel House. The property itself has unrivalled views of Ironbridge which in itself makes this a great place to stay. The kitchen is large and met our needs and the bedrooms were very comfortable and the whole place nicely appointed and furnished. Overall a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The huge benefit of this place is the garage which means you can park your car as roads are narrow and there is limited parking.

A lovely property — the pictures don’t do it justice.

Parking is a nightmare. On the last evening at the Drill House, the plug sockets tripped. We couldn’t reset them, as there was no way to access the electrical cupboard because it was locked. This felt very dangerous, as there was no way to turn off the electrics in an emergency. We messaged the owners and didn't even receive a reply - not good. We lost all the food in the fridge that we were planning to take to our next stop.

Warm and comfortable, low lighting in the sitting room but good and bright everywhere else.

Night light by the stairs a brilliant idea. Parking a challenge, either in the garage or finding space in Church Hill. Very good location for visiting the area.

All what you need is there. Great location. Just 2points need to be improved the washingmachine and the heating system is losing water

Superb location and excellent facilities.

Cosy and welcoming. Easy access to what we wanted to see in and around Ironbridge. Two minor issues the owners might want to address. The key safe was quite difficult to operate and we could not obtain a WiFi connection

Lovely property with outstanding views over the gorge and the bridge.

Would have benefitted from a proper shower in the bathroom. As it is, I would suggest the property is more suited to a couple with young children (but not infants, due to steps within the property). The kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable, and lounge spacious. Scrabble and chess provided. Very clean. ***Be advised, the lanes up to the property are VERY steep and VERY narrow, and can become slippery with leaves in the autumn. Suitable only for confident drivers who know how to reverse should you unfortunately meet another car.

Love location for the family, with amazing views and very close to all the attractions and amenities in the local area.

Lovely quirky property.

Well decorated and very comfortable. The views were incredible! Just as described. Facilities within the home were great also. Having towels, tea towels, toilet rolls, hand soap, and kitchen cleaning supplies was really helpful. The only downside is the parking, and better awareness of the narrow roads would have been helpful. I practically got the car stuck going down the road behind the property and had to reverse and find a spot to turn the car around; hair raising to say the least! Additionally, there was no welcome pack i.e., cake/biscuits/milk and no written information/feedback book in the property. This is often useful to check for activities/ facilities that previous visitors found. All in all we loved it and will happily return in future.

The house was in a great location overlooking the iron bridge.

Need strong nerves to park in garage below the house. Our friends found difficulty parking in the suggested street nearby.The issue was not resolved during our stay nor followed up on during this time. However the overall stay was enjoyable

Family of four with young kids loved this place.

It suited us but it won't suit all being up such a steep hill or 118 steps. Big garage but due to the narrow road to the property anything bigger than a small hatchback will likely struggle to get in but we never struggled to park on Church Hill (clues in the name). Now thats out the way, the property. In through the entrance, downstairs toilet and decent sized kitchen diner and utility off it. Ample space for a family of 4 to cook and eat with functioning appliances and a great view from the kitchen window. Bar section under the stairs was a fun touch, the kids played restaurants there everyday! Upstairs was 2 good sized bedrooms, master with ensuite - bit of a musty/damp smell but bought a reed diffuser which largely masked it, good shower. Bed comfortable and its private enough you could sleep with curtains open too with a nice view out of the low level window. 2nd bedroom large with nice feature on the ceiling. Living space was large with plenty of space for us all and a little balcony door which I religiously sat at every morning and evening watching the world go by. Overall, this property suited us to the ground but for others it won't at all. We aim to come back! Thanks for the stay and nice message on the blackboard!

The cottage was relly nice and better than expected, although that might be off as we have never booked a cottage before.

Everything was as described and well organised.

Be careful if you have a wide car as access to the property is tight because of the ancient roads. The Olde Drill house is one of several apartments converted from an old mill, inside everything was clean and tidy with lovely views of Telford from every room including the Telford Ian Bridge that can be seen from the living room French balcony. Not your normal cottage , whilst the Drill House is an older conversion it oozes a Querky but Cosey feel to it. Telford and surrounding areas is a wonderful place to spend a few days and the Drill House offers a great environment to enjoy the atmosphere of a vibrant town. Lovely for nights in , has its own small bar , TVs in every room along with a spacious kitchen. We are already planning a re visit in the new year with friends. Reasonably priced, Pet friendly , warm and welcoming, where else would you want to stay. Highly recommended. Adam, Heather n Dug

The drill house was a fantastic flat furnished and equipped to a very high standard very comfortable , reluctant to leave, hope to come back sometime.

We loved our stay.

So near to the centre of Ironbridge and so convenient with the dogs. No garden but the path and dog bin close by made everything easy. The cottage is very cool comfortable with everything you could need

We had a lovely time at the cottage, every thing was is good order and comfortable for us.

The only thing I would say would be to have a welcome file with local information and instructions as to how to use apparatus within the cottage. The coffee machines where not used at all as we where unfamiliar as to how to use them. The neighbours where very friendly and we would recommend it family and friends. Thank you x

This is a fabulous property in an amazing location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The property is well equipped and comfortable as well as cosy. The furniture in the lounge is different to that in the photographs but, in my opinion, it is more cosy now. When we stayed it was decorated for Christmas and the christmas tree was stunning. Although parking and manoeuvring can be tricky and the road is steep, this is clearly explained in the listing so you are aware of what to expect. We would have found cooker instructions useful but there didn't seem to be any. Also, one of the glass cooking dishes was badly chipped on the handle and one of our party received a bad cut. In addition, one of the stair handrails is loose and needs repairing. We do appreciate that owners are not always made aware of such issues and are usually quick to respond and address them. Having said all that, we would definitely still recommend the property and stay again as it is really lovely and there's lots to see and do in the area.

The cottage was comfortable with a few drawbacks.

Access is a nightmare, being up a very steep, narrow road with sharp bends, only suitable for small vehicles. Despite being promoted as dog-friendly there is no garden or local access to grassed areas. Uneven steps on a number of levels inside the cottage render it unsuitable for small children or those with a mobility problem. On the positive side the locals we met were extremely friendly and welcoming.

We had a lovely stay at the Olde Drill House with our French bulldog.

The accommodation is surprisingly big and the location to the Main Street is ideal. You can see the bridge from the window. We found that the owners were very hands off so if we’d had a problem, there was no contact number which we’ve not experienced before. If you are a light sleeper, you may struggle here as the church is right next to the property and the bells chime very randomly throughout the night. There is no garden so our dog had to go to the toilet on the road outside the front door which wasn’t ideal especially as next door told me she has an aggressive Rottweiler in her house which may “go for” our dog so we felt we needed to be very careful. The garage is tiny so we had to park up the road which is a very steep hill. We decided not to use the car as it felt like a hassle with the narrow, hilly roads. It was a lovely break away and we would definitely visit Ironbridge again.

Very clean, but a few bin bags and a couple of dishwasher tablets would make it a 5 star experience.

Had a great stay in Ironbridge, will return and would certainly recommend.

The cottage was quirky and the “upstairs” was very clean, and looked like it had been painted fairly recently. The power shower in the en suite was top notch. The kitchen , although had everything required could do with a face lift, especially the taps, sink and water pressure. The blind in the kitchen didn’t open making it rather dark in there. A note should be left to leave it as it is and not to touch it!! On saying that there was all the pots and pans and equipment needed. The door was also difficult to lock (the Yale was sufficient enough though). These are only minor points and in no way impacted on how much we enjoyed the cottage.A welcome pack would have been a lovely touch, something we are used to upon arrival.

The garage was great for our small car ,the 2 bathrooms were a bonus and the shower was super powerful! Fantastic decor too. We would love to stay there again and may even take the 100 steps from Ironbridge back up the hill

This is an absolutely amazing house!

Everything is done so well and each room is a delight. It is so spacious and comfortable. It was completely clean and everything was well maintained. Some reviews have mentioned the steep walk down to Ironbridge and it is true that there is a very definite incline...it didn't trouble us at all and we have stayed in this area before so knew what to expect. It may not be ideal for someone less mobile but there are very few places in Ironbridge that have level access. The upside of the slope is the fantastic views of the gorge from every window of the house. You can see clearly down to the bridge and everything was green and beautiful - the views made the house even more special. Parking is also always a bit of a challenge in the narrow streets around Ironbridge - we took a small car and the garage at the house worked perfectly for us, but there would have been on street parking not too far away every time anyway. All in all, we loved this house and I was sorry when it was time to leave. Next time we are back in the area, it will definitely be my first choice of places to stay.

The accommodation was excellent othrr than we couldnt find access to the garden ehoch i required for dog however i decoded fortunately not to take dog.

If i had i would have been even more disappointed. The steep hill to the property was a problem which will stop me going back. The cottage itself though was brilliant but i did message sykes on arrival with problem of hot eater in kitchen but no responsr. Solved it ourselves eventually. Had to leave on the friday due to illness. The key safe box is difficult to use due to it being up against a wall. Cant get fingers in properly to press buttons.

This is a very comfortable cottage with marvellous views over the gorge and the Iron Bridge.

Spotlessly clean, with very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, easy to use utilities. We found parking to be a bit of a pain on Church Hill, but we have a large car so accepted that it could mean we wouldn’t be able to park as near to the cottage as we would prefer. Nevertheless we would return to this property.

Loved this place, lovely features and done to a high standard.

The location is perfect, very peaceful with great views of the Ironbridge gorge looking down over the bridge, Only a few minutes walk into Ironbridge to visit its shops, cafes and attractions. The majority of the attractions are within walking distance or only a short drive away. Come home having had a totally relaxing and enjoyable week in this quirky and comfortable accommodation. We would be disappointed if the Olde Drill House wasn’t available for a return visit to the area.

Everything was spot on, parking was a bit of a nightmare but got sorted.

The only thing was it was quite cold and although there were radiators everywhere there was no instructions on how to use the heating and we didn't want to mess with the boiler..

We had a lovely stay in a lovely house.

We left a small handwritten note behind with a couple of observations. Would definitely stay there again.

The only drawback was the parking arrangements but that is due to the nature of the area.

Maybe a clearer way if advising where to park maybe with photos so people know what to expect! The house itself was lovely and comfortable and the area of Ironbridge beautiful and restful (apart from the hills!) We really enjoyed our stay here

Handrail on the stairs is loose.

More toilet rolls should be provided. Bin bags would also have been good - there were none. Second bathroom should have a shower screen and shelving to put toiletries on. Hanging rail if not a small wardrobe should be in the twin bedroom - there was nowhere to hang clothing. Re cleanliness, there were hairs and spillage on top of the microwave and dusty skirting boards
