If you and your loved ones are seeking a beautifully presented and spacious accommodation amidst the rural landscapes of Derbyshire, look no further than The Lodge.

This single-storey, stone-built cottage rests within striking distance of the Peak District National Park and is surrounded by a plethora of things to see and do, making it an exceptional base for families, friends or groups of six to call home.

Access to the dwelling is gained via a gated driveway, where the spacious forecourt provides plenty of off-road parking and views of the neighbouring working farm and beyond.

At the end of a bracing day, relax and unwind into your evening within the sitting room, where the woodburning stove takes centre stage before the inviting sofas and the Smart TV, providing the entertainment.

From here, enter into the heart of the home, the spacious kitchen/diner, where the chef of the group will be delighted to find a superb range of amenities to cater to all culinary needs, as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher to serve as a helping hand.

Accompanying the country-style kitchen suite is the dining table, offering a sociable space to relish in the company of your loved ones over good food and drinks, as well as a TV to keep the little ones entertained!

As the evening draws to a close, catch your rest within one of the three bedrooms, each one designed with a touch of opulence, neutral tones and plenty of storage space to keep your things, yet the most notable feature are the stunning rural views to wake up to each morning.

Choose between a sumptuous super-king-size bedroom, a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, all served by a bathroom, complete with a walk in shower, basin and WC.

The garden at The Lodge has been designed as an extension of the house itself, with a large lawn area for the younger guests of the group to play freely, while you relax underneath the sunshine with something tasty.

Continuing to impress, the property has secure storage for up to six bikes, should you feel like exploring the beautiful surroundings on two wheels!

If you can tear yourself away from this charming oasis, head into the nearby town of Wirksworth, where amidst its network of narrow lanes, yards and alleys lies a collection of superb eateries and places to shop.

While you are here, be sure to hop on board the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway from Wirksworth to soak up the scenery of one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys at your leisure, or brush up on the local history with a visit to the award-winning Heritage Centre, or to the National Stone Centre and Mount Cook Adventure Centre.

Avid ramblers will be spoilt for choice by the amount of walks of offer within the area, including a trek to the Black Rocks, which is a weathered outcrop of Ashover grit promising breath-taking views.

From here, Matlock is also within reach, where you will find the Heights of Abraham attractions and picturesque walks along the river Derwent, whilst further afield is the magnificent Chatsworth House.

With so much to do, you and your loved ones are sure to have a fun-filled getaway at The Lodge.

WIRKSWORTH

Matlock 6 miles.

Wirksworth is a small, charming market town situated just a few miles from Matlock, on the edge of The Peak District. Wirksworth is full of character with many buildings of architectural interest, including its magnificent parish church. Independent shops sit alongside the deli, butchers and bakers with a strong local food ethic. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient “jitties” and courtyards of the Puzzle Gardens, along with the Heritage Centre and the delightful surrounding countryside including nearby Carsington Water, Black Rocks and the High Peak Trail. Rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed here at every level, and there is fantastic walking all around. Well Dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and Wirksworth combines this tradition with a lively carnival in May. There is also an annual Arts festival with an amazing Art & Architecture Trail in September, showcasing contemporary art and international performers of every kind. With an art deco independent cinema and a range of places to eat there is plenty to entertain. The town offers a leisure centre with a climbing wall and a small trainer swimming pool, The Eco Centre, The National Stone Centre and the Mount Cook Adventure Centre. The weekly market and monthly farmers' market provide local produce and crafts. Beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy reach, as well as Matlock Bath, with its spectacular cable car, the heritage Ecclesbourne Valley Railway and Gulliver's Kingdom.
