  • "We really enjoyed our stay in The Peak District."

The Lodge is comfortable, very clean and well equipped. An ideal place for the locations that we wanted to visit. Michelle was most welcoming and helpful. A tour of the farm was interesting and informative. Nice to meet Samantha and Dizzy too ! The sponge cake was lovely. We would highly recommend The Lodge to anyone wishing to holiday in this area.

  • "What a wonderful cottage – it truly exceeded our expectations!"

The attention to detail was exceptional, and it felt like a real home away from home. Our hosts were so welcoming, and greeting us with a delicious homemade cake and even an anniversary card – such a thoughtful touch that made our stay extra special.

We are glad you enjoyed your holiday and special celebrations with us. Best regards Michelle, David, Samantha and Henry. Property Owner

  • "The lodge is in a great location for the peak district and is very peaceful."

It was cosy on the cold wet days we had and facilities at the property were good. However it must be said it is getting a tad shabby now compared to the photos on Sykes site. It is clean but all the paintwork needs refreshing as it is very bashed and scuffed now making it look dingy. We did notice a couple of issues raised by others in the guest book in the past which still need addressing. Shower controls were impossible for my wife to operate as they are to stiff to move (been mentioned before). It is a walk in shower which makes it long and only a small anti slip mat is provided (and it's very slippery at one end) also mentioned by someone was no grab handle fitted (and still isn't). Possibly not an issues for some but the beds were the hardest we have every encountered. With these issues addressed it would bring the quality of the property back to its star rating.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We're really glad you enjoyed the peaceful location and found the lodge cosy and well-equipped during your stay. We also appreciate your honest comments about areas that needed attention. Since your visit, we’ve added grab rails and a larger anti-slip mat to improve shower safety. I’m sorry to hear the shower controls were difficult to use,had I known at the time, I would have been more than happy to assist. Since your visit we have also re-painted. Your input is invaluable in helping us maintain and improve the quality of the property, and we hope to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future. Property Owner

  • "Very clean and comfortable accommodation in lovely quiet surroundings, ample car parking space, owner kind enough to leave cake, milk and other items which were appreciated."

Samantha is a credit to her parents, she introduced herself and Dizzy on the evening of our arrival. She politely asked if everything was okay with the property and continued to have a lovely conversation with us. It was nice that her mum also introduced herself later. Little things like this make a memorable holiday. Thank you all

  • "We had an amazing stay at this property."

It was lovely, surrounded by beautiful countryside and just what we wanted to celebrate my son and his partners belated 30th birthday. The property was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery, utensils and best of all a dish washer which we found really useful. We had brought barbecue food with us for the Saturday evening and on arrival couldn’t find a barbecue. We contacted the owner who kindly bought us one over on the Saturday morning. She also made sure that we had a high chair too for my grandaughter. We found her to be very responsive to any messages sent. My grandaughter particularly loved Dizzy the horse and hasn’t stopped talking about him. My daughter and her partner also met the owners daughter on the day of arrival, she was very friendly and shared her knowledge of the area with them which was really helpful. We had a really lovely time and visited Matlock Bath and Bakewell during our stay. Thank you again, we definately wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you or to stay again if we are up that way in the future x

  • "Lovely property and owners very helpful with problem with heating."

The only problem was with the shower which was very slippery and needed a mat and possibly a grab rail. Location was good with plenty of places to see. Beautiful cake for afternoon tea.

This single-storey, stone-built cottage rests within striking distance of the Peak District National Park and is surrounded by a plethora of things to see and do, making it an exceptional base for families, friends or groups of six to call home.

Access to the dwelling is gained via a gated driveway, where the spacious forecourt provides plenty of off-road parking and views of the neighbouring working farm and beyond.

At the end of a bracing day, relax and unwind into your evening within the sitting room, where the woodburning stove takes centre stage before the inviting sofas and the Smart TV, providing the entertainment.

From here, enter into the heart of the home, the spacious kitchen/diner, where the chef of the group will be delighted to find a superb range of amenities to cater to all culinary needs, as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher to serve as a helping hand.

Accompanying the country-style kitchen suite is the dining table, offering a sociable space to relish in the company of your loved ones over good food and drinks, as well as a TV to keep the little ones entertained!

As the evening draws to a close, catch your rest within one of the three bedrooms, each one designed with a touch of opulence, neutral tones and plenty of storage space to keep your things, yet the most notable feature are the stunning rural views to wake up to each morning.

Choose between a sumptuous super-king-size bedroom, a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, all served by a bathroom, complete with a walk in shower, basin and WC.

The garden at The Lodge has been designed as an extension of the house itself, with a large lawn area for the younger guests of the group to play freely, while you relax underneath the sunshine with something tasty.

Continuing to impress, the property has secure storage for up to six bikes, should you feel like exploring the beautiful surroundings on two wheels!

If you can tear yourself away from this charming oasis, head into the nearby town of Wirksworth, where amidst its network of narrow lanes, yards and alleys lies a collection of superb eateries and places to shop.

While you are here, be sure to hop on board the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway from Wirksworth to soak up the scenery of one of Derbyshire’s most lovely and unspoilt valleys at your leisure, or brush up on the local history with a visit to the award-winning Heritage Centre, or to the National Stone Centre and Mount Cook Adventure Centre.

Avid ramblers will be spoilt for choice by the amount of walks of offer within the area, including a trek to the Black Rocks, which is a weathered outcrop of Ashover grit promising breath-taking views.

From here, Matlock is also within reach, where you will find the Heights of Abraham attractions and picturesque walks along the river Derwent, whilst further afield is the magnificent Chatsworth House.

With so much to do, you and your loved ones are sure to have a fun-filled getaway at The Lodge.
