Harris House

We had a great holiday.

Harris House is clean and comfortable, and we hope to visit again.

The property was excellent It had everything you might need on a self catering holiday it was clean spacious and light and very comfortable from the armchairs in the living room to the thick comfortable bed mattresses The kitchen window had a lovely view over to the main church in Ludlow and we enjoyed sitting out in the garden and listening to to the music from the castle on the Saturday evening A very relaxing and enjoyable stay

House is very spacious and well equipped.

Easily located within a few minutes of the town centre. Three generous bedrooms (2 double and a twin) with plenty of storage. Living room, dining room, bathroom, kitchen and twin on the ground with two doubles and toilet on the first floor. Kitchen and utility provide pretty much all facilities and equipment needed. Drive big enough for two or three cars. Nice gardens to the front and rear with seating. All in all a great property in a good location. Close to railway station (although uphill) and easy to access main roads for travel.

This property is in a good location for exploring Ludlow as it's just a ten minute walk to the town centre.

It's also close to the railway station. The off road parking is handy as parking is not easy in Ludlow. The house is well maintained and comfy. We've stayed quite a few times.

Harris House is a lovely property.

Very clean and comfortable, plenty of parking and close to the town centre. The owners are very helpful and quick to respond. We have stayed here before and will again. Ludlow is a pretty town with great cafes, restaurants and pubs. The castle and church are very interesting and there are many beautiful buildings.

The accomodation was better than expected.

It was very good to be able to park by the front door to unload. The cleanliness was to a very high standard and everything we needed in the kitchen was provided. The house information folder was really useful and comprehensive. Only 10 minutes walk into town. We will be back.

We had a lovely stay at Harris House in Ludlow.

The house was sparkling clean, lovely bed linen, very well equiped and very comfortable. Location was very quiet and only a short walk into town. Great to have off street parking. We hope to return.

Very peaceful road. Beds very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Only minor gripe is that the furniture wasn't great if you are on the taller side

We have now been to Harris House several times and we have always found the house very comfortable meeting all our requirements.

Anna and Andy obviously give their holiday let a great deal of thought and care for their guests. Examples would be leaving the central heating available for us to set our own level of warmth according to the prevailing weather which can vary enormously. There is also a printer to print out notes for where you are going which we have never seen anywhere else and they have taken a lot of trouble to ensure that the TV works on both freeview and streaming channels in an area noted for poor reception. This all contributes to a very relaxing holiday. We love it and will be back again soon. Highly recommended.

An absolutely lovely house in a very pleasant, quiet street a short walk from the town centre.

Spacious, spotlessly clean and superbly well equipped. This was our second time staying here and we would hope to do so again in the future.

Ludlow and Harris House are lovely places to stay.

One of the best places I have stayed in!

Ludlow is a lovely place to visit too with plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. We are National Trust members and drove out to visit several houses. There are lots of pubs and restaurants to go and eat and have a drink. Our week at Harris House was superb and without a doubt if we’re in Shropshire again we would definitely want to stay there.

Home from home.

Excellent kitchen facilities. Warm cosy stay. Perfect. The owner sent clear instructions and responded quickly to queries. Would highly recommend if you’re planning to stay in Ludlow. Ludlow is within easy walking distance (10 min) and train station 5 mins walk away.

This is our 3rd time staying in this lovely cottage.

Very welcoming comfortable and cosy. Everything is at hand all amenities are first class. Garden is very well maintained and when the weather is good to us we do like to sit out side. Good location ludlow town just few mins walk, we done lots of walking from the door we also walked to the ludlow food centre where we had a nice coffee and cake. Hope to be returning soon to Harris House.

The property has everything you could possibly need and more. The bed was very comfortable and the area was very peaceful yet only a few minutes walk from the centre of Ludlow. We had a wonderful week!

Harris House was spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean.

It’s within easy walking distance of Ludlow centre, the train station and local supermarkets. We hope to stay at Harris House again and would definitely recommend it to others.

A lovely, bright & spacious house with comfortable beds and good shower.

10-15 min walk to Ludlow town centre. Excellent communication with the owner and very helpful information & recommendations thoughtfully provided in the Info book at the house. Well equipped kitchen and good facilities. The only things we missed/couldn't locate was a clothes airer (raining so couldn't use outdoor line and didn't want to tumble dry certain items) and a cafetiere (ground coffee we had wasn't suitable for the percolator). The TV reception wasn't great - Freeview/Freesat didn't work at all on either TV, regardless of the weather, and the Sky box had limited channels that scrambled quite a few times. Would suggest packing a Chromecast or similar to stream off your phone instead as the WiFi was very good. These are all nitpicks though, we would very happily stay again!

Lovely house perfect for walking into Ludlow town centre.

Great base for some beautiful National Trust properties and great walking in Church Stretton and Bridgenorth.

Very comfortable and well equipped house - the range of kitchen equipment is specially worthy of mention.

The house is well placed for visiting Ludlow, on a quiet road yet with the central area of town accessible on foot.

This was our fifth visit to Harris House and we are sure that it will not be the last.

The presentation of this house is perfect. It is very clean, comfortable and well equipped and the owners spare no effort to make you feel welcome and at home. The location within walking distance of the centre of Ludlow is excellent and if you wish to go further afield the access to the A49 is simplicity itself. Highly recommended.

The house is spacious, easily accommodating our party of six adults, with parking for three cars on the driveway. The house is generously equipped and very well maintained, and the owner, only a phone call away has proven to be very helpful and friendly. This is a spacious property, within walking distance of Ludlow town centre, handy for the railway station and with ample parking.

We've stayed here three times now and would definitely stay again.

We love the proximity of the house to the town centre , shops and the Ludlow Brewery (five minute walk), but the area around the house is so quiet ! The property has everything one needs and is ultra comfortable and warm, cannot wait until February !

While ideally an extra shower facility would have been good, this was a clean, spacious and well-presented property in a quiet location close to the town.

This was the fourth time that we have been to Harris House and, as on all previous occasions, it was extremely enjoyable.

The house continues to be presented at a very high standard and the location is perfect; close enough to Ludlow for visiting and very close to essential shops. A new Sainsburys is now just 5 minutes away. The owners take great care that we have all that we need and are always there if needed.

We had a great week and this is our fourth visit to Harris House.

The hosts are always prompt to respond to any matter raised and are extremely well organised when it comes to arranging arrival details etc. The house is in a very central area and very quiet. I do feel that the kitchen can be improved by the addition of a slow cooker, air fryer/ steamer and mini food processor. Ludlow is famous for food and with increasing costs this would help families with their budget on holiday. Also, as the house can take six guests a four slice toaster would be a good idea too. A vacuum cleaner would be a good idea as well. I would certainly encourage a visit to Harris House. The views are fantastic. The heating system is both efficient and easy to use. There are always plenty of towels and tea towels available for use and loads of crockery. There are also a number of house keys and window keys . Book early. Many of us come back!

We enjoyed our stay in this very clean and comfortable house.

The owners had thought of everything. Very well equipped and even window keys on little hooks by each window. Stokesay and Ludlow Castle are worth a visit and there was a market every day. Highly recommend the cheese and liquorice stalls. All in all a beautiful property.

Beautiful family home.

Super beds. Lounge furniture is very comfortable. Easy to use TV and Wi-Fi. Large family dining room. Totally equipped kitchen with lovely views across neighbouring gardens to the surrounding hills. Powerful shower. Easy off road parking. Located for easy walks down into town either via the pedestrian railway bridge to Tesco/Aldi/Ludlow brewery or via the relatively flat bit of Gravel Hill directly into the upper town centre. Quiet road. Highly recommended.

It surpassed expectations, a lovely quiet location and an easy walk into town. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. I had the best nights sleep there, the beds are huge and again, very comfortable! We are already discussing when we will return

Second stay here.

Very convenient for seeing Ludlow and lovely surrounding area. Very clean and comfortable property with plenty of parking although cars need to be one behind the other, but this is not an issue. Will definitely visit again.

Just one little moan, it would have nice to be able to hover the carpeted areas and stairs, and be able to give the wooden floors a once over, staying two weeks was a little hard to keep floors tidy with dustpan, brush and broom.

This is one of the best holiday properties we have stayed in.

We couldn’t fault it. The house is very spacious, well equipped and well located. We loved Ludlow and the Shropshire hills. There is so much to do in the area. If we come back to Shropshire we would love to stay in Harris house again. Off street parking is essential for us and there is plenty of parking on the drive. We really enjoyed our stay.

Second stay for us at Harris House, and we returned because it really is a superb house to stay in with a lovely garden.

Immaculately presented, spacious and well equipped it is a well positioned, to walk into Ludlow or travel out to the many attractions in the area. Despite staying in June , the weather was cold and wet, so the central heating was very welcome!. One of the best Sykes locations in my view and we will be back.

A very comfortable holiday home, extremely well-equipped and spacious.

It had everything we might need, and more besides!

The house was nice, large rooms , plenty of parking space.

The living room furniture was ok if a little old. It would be nice to have a Amazon firestick or the like so that you had on demand tv - iPlayer, ITV on demand etc.

Harris house is in a brilliant position just a gentle stroll from Ludlow town centre.

Andy and Anna the owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure that everything is well organised so that your stay will be as stress free as possible. Judging by the guest book many {including ourselves} come back time and time again. This is a beautiful house in a very beautiful part of the Uk so if you have not been before give it a try. I assure you, you will not regret it.

We adore Ludlow and have been here every year (except for lockdown) for the past 13 years, staying in many different properties throughout that time.

This house was the best we have ever stayed in ! Owners very understanding , property exceptionally clean, relaxing , warm and well equipped, and only a ten minute walk into town centre and Ludlow Brewery :). We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next February ! Thank You

Harris House is well equipped and spacious.

It's in a handy location, just a short walk from Ludlow centre and convenient for the train station, plus it has parking which is always a bonus in Ludlow. In terms of comfort, the only thing we struggled a bit with is that the sofa is quite firm. We like to sit and read on holiday and it wasn't the best for relaxation, but that is a personal choice as all the furniture was in a good condition.

The property is a good size and lovely and warm in November. It is in a great location on a peaceful road but only a 5 minute walk into town. We would thoroughly recommend it and indeed are keen to book again.

Lots of walks from the front door. We walked into Ludlow centre most days. Lots of interesting shops and things to do. Train 5 mins walk my daughter went to Shrewsbury to meet a friend under her own steam. Nice and different markets most days. Just great. We all had a good time and would like to come again perhaps for longer. Lots of things left to do or revisit. After the last 18 months and several cancelled family holidays this was just the ticket. We loved the 'cooks' kitchen, the garden and the huge bedrooms. Quiet and peaceful but minutes away from everything you need. Thank you to Andrew and Anna.

Ludlow and the surrounding area is very lovely. We enjoyed different walks each day. Recommend Walls butchers and market produce especially flavoured honey and the flavoured gin and vodka from Bewdley.

This property is wonderful!

It is well appointed, catering to a visitor's every need. There were many thoughtful touches, such as coffee and tea and a container of milk in the fridge so we could enjoy a cuppa upon arrival. Everything- beds, sofas, etc - were very comfortable. Its proximity to the heart of Ludlow was exceedingly convenient. Two thumbs up!

This was our second holiday based at Harris House and all that anyone needs to know about the property has already been said in the reviews below. Ludlow town is a gem in itself and within walking distance. The train station is nearer and only 7 minutes walk away and we used the train for visits on our 2 holidays to: Worcester, Hereford, Aberystwyth. We also took advantage of Heart of Wales Circular Day Ranger. This ticket takes a circular route. We departed and arrived back at Ludlow travelling via Craven Arms, the rural 100 mile Heart of Wales Line with its spectacular scenery and 29 stations, Llanelli, Cardiff, Abergavenny. We also visited the National Trust properties: Croft Castle and Berrington Hall.

An unusual property which is really well equipped with spacious rooms, and 10 minutes walk from Ludlow.

This house is a really lovely place to go on holiday.

It had everything you would need and was extremely spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. The garden was fantastic, I met the gardener and had a nice chat with him about the plants. It's a great place to sit out in on a sunny day and even has some herbs you can use for cooking. We would definitely recommend Harris House to anyone wanting to visit Ludlow. The local area is great, it has got castles, a market, museums and good walks, as well as all the local amenities and a market and good restaurants. We went to Hay on Wye for the day which was absolutely wonderful for people who love books. Also my partner found a great vinyl shop in Ludlow that he says is worth visiting if that is your thing. Overall we would recommend this holiday cottage without hesitation, as well as the area. It would suit families with younger children and older family groups as well.

So clean and comfortable. Such a great time we advised our travel agent in South Australia to recommend Harris House to future travellers.

Wanted to take my 83 year old father away for a relaxing week as he had been poorly. Luckily we picked the Early May Bank holiday that was the hottest on Record. Our family has never rented a holiday home before so we really did not know what to expect. I am now afraid, because our expectations were exceeded, Harris House has now set the Gold standard bar for future holiday lets in other destinations. In fact – we may not go elsewhere and carry on going to Ludlow every year because this house had everything and our time spent there was lovely and relaxing. The owners sent a lovely email a few weeks before our due date (05.05.18 - 12.05.18), and from the tone of that you could tell that nothing was a problem – just to contact them had you any concerns. I want to repeat everything everyone has complimented and mentioned on the sykes cottage website, i.e Spotless, quiet location, stones throw away from Ludlow town, handy to A49 to reach other desitnations, household kit / appliances to very good standard, everything to hand, everything thought of. It also felt actually felt very homely and very peaceful. You did not feel out of place or scared to move. My father has difficulties with his mobility - but this house was perfect for anyone with these issues as everything was spaced out and it was not cluttered, so nothing to bang into and the stairs had a solid banister to help him. The shower was a power shower – so that made me very happy, and the view when doing the dishes out the window – money could not buy. Even doing dishes made me happy that week. It truly is a great place to stay.

So clean and well equipped in every way. Everything was well explained. It was a very convenient location for access to the town by foot so no fighting for parking spots. We have already booked for next year.

It was in a quiet area but close to all the amenities and in easy reach of the major towns and villages. We would have no hesitation about booking this property again for our next trip to beautiful Shropshire.

Extremely well equipped and so spacious.

So very much provided that we didnt expect but the one thing that was missing and would have been most welcome was a pint of milk. Still, we didn't have far to walk to remedy the situation. And considering all that was provided it seems a small point to mention. The details sent by the owner were most comprehensive and everything was as he described.

This is a very comfortable and well equipped house in a quiet area of Ludlow only a short walk from the town and the station; it is ideal for walkers as there are lovely walks in Ludlow by the castle and along the river.

There are many attractions a short drive away, e.g. Croft Castle, Stokesay Castle, views from the Clee Hills, Bridgnorth and Arley Arboretum. We travelled by train to Shrewsbury and to explore Church Stretton and walk on The Long Mynd. We had sunny Autumnal weather and enjoyed a fabulous holiday.

Harris house was exceptional with regard to how well it was equipped.

It had everything you would normally expect and then some. I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone visiting Ludlow. Our main reason for visiting was the food fair and it was also very good.

Harris House was an ideal base with everything within Ludlow being within walking distance. There is also easy access to the A49 and train station. The cottage is spacious and well equipped, particularly the kitchen and utility room. There is bike storage which in other circumstances we may have used. Overall Harris House is great value for money compared to other places we have stayed.
