Old Town Cottage

My second stay at Old Town Cottage.

It is a delightful, quiet, centrally located and comfortable place to stay. The owner communicates well, the cottage is beautifully clean and (for its size) well equipped. Can't ask for more, really! The restaurants, pubs, shops and attractions of central Ludlow are just a few minutes walk away, and even the railway station and a large Tesco (the most central of the supermarkets supplying the town) are only about a ten minute walk. For a stay in this town, don't hesitate.

Delightful, cosy little cottage.

Flowers, biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar & milk to welcome us and a well equipped kitchen. We visited in January and the cottage was well heated. Nicely decorated, loved the fairy lights, and a very comfy bed. Just a short walk into town made it perfect.

Perfect for a couple wanting a simple, cosy, quiet cottage right in the middle of town.

Everything as stated. Stayed a week in a snowy wet January and would come again any time of year.

We’ve just completed a five day stay at this cozy accommodation.

We found the cottage to be comfortable, well-equipped, quiet and very clean. The extra touches of adding flowers, milk and coffee were much appreciated and made you feel welcomed. The cottage has the added advantage of being close to town which was wonderful as there is much to see in Ludlow. We would certainly recommend this cottage as a place to stay in Ludlow.

Lovely cosy cottage.

Freshly decorated since last stay. Great location for Ludlow castle and centre. It was ideal for us whilst visiting for the Ludlow food festival weekend. Thank you for the homely touches of home made biscuits, milk tea coffee . Everything was perfect.

Lovely little cottage in a great position for town, free parking a 5 minute walk away with some lovely little touches, like the fresh flowers and lavender cookies along with a pint of milk in the fridge.

It just requires a little bit of maintenance to get 5 stars, mainly in the bathroom, the shower is very difficult to control, the toilet seat is lose and the door creaks very loudly. We would definitely go back

We enjoyed our stay here.

The little cottage is tucked away down a short mews off the road. Perfect position to explore Ludlow, with everything on the doorstep. The free parking provided by the owner not too far away is so important, as the cost otherwise would have been expensive. We moved the car the night before leaving to the 2 hour parking near the cottage 8am-6pm to load up and leave before 10am.

Like the renovations - new flooring and windows.

Little garden border is very attractive. Could do with a (short) information page for other renters. We have used the property before and know Ludlow well so not a problem for us. Never know if the gate to the street should be fully shut.

This is a super little place, in a great location just a few minutes walk from the centre of town.

Quiet. Beautifully clean. The cottage had everything I needed. To have a free parking space nearby was a lovely bonus, too. Tip for anyone trying to find it, as it is tucked away: find the Green Dragon B&B on Old Street, and the cottage is behind it via an alleyway.

We had a wonderful stay at Old Town Cottage.

It was a lovely surprise to find some gingerbread shortbread upon arrival and a carton of milk in the fridge. The Cottage was very cosy and clean and only a short walk away from Ludlow Castle Square, where you can find the Market, plenty places to shop and eat and of course the castle. I would also personally recommend a walk down to the Millenium Green, which is one of my favourite things about Ludlow and is only a short walk from the Castle. I would definitely recommend staying here as it's also just around the corner from the train station, a bus stop and a big Tesco and Aldi.

Owner was brilliant and communication was really good.

Cottage was well located and great for a couple. Had everything we needed and was really comfortable. The parking space located close by was a bonus. Had an amazing stay and Ludlow was beautiful.

Location is fantastic, 100m from town centre.

The cottage is very warm & cosy, a 1 down, with small kitchen area, 1 up with bathroom, with parking c. 400m away, perfect for a couple.

I loved staying at Old Town Cottage, from the name to the location, tucked away as it is behind a gate and a few steps down a little courtyard.

It was the perfect size for me and a joy to stay in for a few nights while I investigate Ludlow and decide whether to move to Shropshire from Manchester. It was clean, light and peaceful. A little cat even welcomed me on my arrival and departure. I especially appreciated the little details; the furniture, the doors, the jar of delicious flapjacks. I was so grateful to have discovered such a lovely cottage. It made all the difference to my break from the city. Thank you.

Old Town Cottage was ideal for our stay in Ludlow.

It had everything we needed and was warm and cosy. It's perfectly located for exploring Ludlow and is very quiet. We were very kindly left some flap jacks which were delicious, and some daffodils which opened up during our stay. The car parking space was really handy. All in all, a small but perfectly formed cottage.

Lovely little cottage very close to town centre.

Perfect for a couple to have a break in a beautiful town. Kitchen has everything you need and shower is lovely and hot. Bed is comfy too! Great to have a parking space provided. Would definately stay here again.

A lovely cosy cottage in a central but quiet location.

Free carparking a few streets away. The shower was amazing. I loved my stay there and will hope to return next year.

Location was perfect but cottage was not up to our expectations.

The main issue and complaint was regarding the heating system for the water supply. Most mornings the water would not heat up enough for a hot/warm shower and in fact was cold. The owners did come twice but the issue was still there when we left, which was two days earlier than our lease. No offer of reducing our rental was offered but they were very apologetic regarding the heating system. As the location was great and being from Canada the town of Ludlow was very appealing with a very interesting history.

The cottage is lovely, perfect situation as close to everything .

Really clean . We took a fan with us , and so glad we did as was a very hot few days. Very comfortable bed , the only thing we found the sofas were too soft and too low , maybe because we're both in late 60s we struggled a bit with that, but that is the only thing that I would have changed. We had a lovely few days .

A cosy little cottage tucked away from the main road but in a perfect location to the town.

Clean, comfortable and adequately equipped. Complimentary tea, coffe, sugar and milk provided with some delicious homemade biscuits was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Although parking is only within certain times on the road a free parking space is offered at the Mascall Centre which is a very short walk away. Eventhough there is a porch light outside the approach to the cottage is quite dark and will need.to use a torch. A little TLC is needed to spruce up the outside but on the whole I would recommend this cottage for a short stay.

A lovely, very centrally located cottage with a nice area for sitting out.

Inside was delightful, nicely furnished and well equipped. A very comfy bed. The kitchen was very small however. It needs some storage space for guests' food. We ended up putting stuff on the work surfaces which left very little space for preparing food. Perhaps swap the wall plate rack (which my wife couldn't reach anyway!) for a small wall cupboard. Also a chair in the bedroom would have been useful for putting clothes on and drying hair etc. Perhaps a full length mirror somewhere?

Old Town Cottage was clean, comfortable and provided all we needed for our few days stay in Ludlow.

The property is only minutes walk into town but peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle. The complimentary milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were much appreciated, as was the added bonus of a designated free parking space which should be updated on the Sykes site for future visitors. Parking is at a premium in Ludlow and can make all the difference when deciding on a booking.

Lovely little cottage, nice and quiet but in the town centre and only a ten minute walk to the train station. Very comfy bed!.

Though the cottage is very small, we found it to be ideal for us.

It is in an excellent location, being close to services, but very quiet. The cottage provided everything we needed and we enjoyed our stay there very much.

Well situated for the centre of Ludlow. Designated parking space was an unexpected but welcome bonus.

It was quiet yet about 200 yards from the town centre with its pubs and restaurants. Ludlow is a delightful town and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great cottage in a great, central but quiet location.

Compact space but had everything we needed, all very clean and in good repair. Would definitely recommend it!

We stayed 2 nights - 21st & 22nd June 2021.

This was our first time away from home since Feb 2020 due to Covid restrictions. We were apprehensive about staying away from home but having both been fully vaccinated we decided to take a short break, not too far from home. The property was spotless, comfortable and had hand sanitiser as well as antibac liquid soap in both the bathroom and kitchen. Although located in the middle of the town, it was really quiet with only the chirping of birds waking us in the morning! Although small, it was well equipped, would be easy to eat in should you wish. Lovely to have milk, coffee and tea as well as basic cleaning equipment and fresh flowers provided. Having a free parking space a short walk away, was a real bonus. We really enjoyed exploring Ludlow, eating out for the first time in over 16mths. All the shops, restaurants and attractions were all very Covid compliant.

This is a lovely cottage right in the heart of Ludlow.

The host arranged free parking for the duration of our stay which made coming and going so much easier. The cottage itself had everything we needed, was very comfortable and set back from the road so noise wasn't an issue. The little touches such as fresh flowers in the cottage and a pint of milk to welcome us were really appreciated. Ludlow is a very pretty town with plenty to do and see and was the base for many lovely walks through the Shropshire and Herefordshire countryside while we were there.

Cosy, spotlessly clean, well equipped with quality fittings.

I highly recommend this cottage, ideal for a couple on holiday with everything you need and in a perfect location. The photos don’t do it justice. There is parking 2 minutes walk.

The location is very hard to find, the directions given suggest one approaches from the town centre, however that access was closed and one approached from the south.

The cottage would be better located if the information stated that the gates are located between 30 and 34 Old Street Ludlow. The car park is ok but for some elderly people it would be to far away to walk back to the cottage. However our stay was enjoyable and the cottage comfortable.

Perfect Cottage for 2.

Very clean, Bed comfortable, Quiet mews. Plenty of Restaurants and cafes in the town (must book). There is now a reserved parking space available which is about a 5 minute walk. Very useful as street parking is always full. We enjoyed lots of local walks and hikes. We thoroughly recommend

Old Town Cottage is tucked away in the heart of this beautiful town.

An easy stroll to the square and all the restaurants and shops, or down to the River Teme. We were provided with a parking space a short walk away which was handy. The cottage is in a quiet and peaceful spot ideal for our long weekend. The property is tiny but has everything a couple would need and was comfortable and very clean. Jane was easy to deal with and very efficient.

The cottage is as described - cute and comfortable, spotlessly clean.

It's location is perfect situated on this small pedestrian access pathway, so it's very quiet and peaceful even though it's just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Our only observation would be that, in our opinion, the double bed is in need of a new mattress! otherwise a lovely mini break that did us both good. Well equipped and has everything you could need, good water pressure for the shower and enough room for two for a break in lovely Ludlow.

There is a parking space which can be reserved a short distance from the cottage which we only became aware about once we contacted the owner.

We found this to be really helpful and I think it could encourage other people to book the cottage if they were also aware.

There is now a designated parking place. This was our third visit and it did not disappoint. Super location for central Ludlow. Small but everything so thoughtful.

Lovely little cottage in a very convenient location for exploring Ludlow and the surrounding area.

We had a great stay, very comfortable & great location

we were please with the comfort and proximity of the cottage also the general upkeep of the property including décor and anything that was provided for the visitor would recommend this as a holiday stay

The accommodation was lovely.

It took half an hour of circumnavigation of Ludlow to find, but that was because we didn’t know Ludlow very well and signage was a bit vague. The owner provided details of a very useful parking place and daily exercise was beneficial going to and from this gem as parking in Ludlow is at a premium. As you would expect in February, the weather was VERY weatherish, storm Dennis accompanied us on our journey to Ludlow, and storm Jorge followed us home, but with a combination of waterproof skin and determination many lovely locations were visited, splashing to and from them. We admired many cavernous potholes in Shropshire’s road network, and this made our journeys adventurous to say the least. So to sum up, accommodation 10/10..overall holiday 9/10.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay for our honeymoon.

The cottage was everything we wanted - cosy, warm and near to all the local pubs and shops. Will definitely be returning.

For a November rental it would have been nice if the cottage had been pre-heated as it was extremely cold and took a very long time to warm through.

Owners are great and helped us jump start our dead car in the morning! Having their own parking that is close was a real bonus.

We were welcomed with fresh flowers and flapjacks., such a nice gesture. The cottage was cosy and ideally situated for exploring Ludlow on foot. We would certainly use it again.

This lovely cottage sleeps two, lounge/diner small but well presented kitchen with everything.

Upstairs shower room bedroom nice comfy double bed, with lisds of dpace for clothes. 5 minutes up hill to town centre so very handy. Cottage comes with free ostling space 5 mins walk so we unloaded got permit and and map and went to park car while my wife unpacked. Ludlow great place eith loads of good pubs. We ate both nites in Church pub great food. The haddock in batter was to die for Would highly reccommend

The cottage was advertised as not having wi-fi , but it does!

It would be worth adding that to your description. It was very comfortable indeed, everything to a high standard. Would definitely stay in a Sykes cottage again, this was our second one and both have been wonderful.

A small but very pleasant cottage ideally situated in the Ludlow town center but just off the main road in a private mews arrangement.

Ideal for a singleton or couple wanting to explore Ludlow and the surrounding area.

The cottage was comfortable and very convenient for access to the town centre.

We travelled by train and it was an easy walk from the station. The flowers in the living room and bedroom were very attractive but we'd have really welcomed a pint of milk in the fridge to make a cup of tea on arrival. I travelled light and didn't bring a hairdryer so was disappointed not to find one provided as in other Sykes properties we've stayed in. The kitchen although compact had all we needed - however there was minimal information on rubbish disposal as regards recycling.We agree with another visitor that a reading light in the living room would be welcome. Overall we recommend this cottage for a short break in Ludlow.

Had a great time in Ludlow using the cottage as a base to explore further afield.

Weather wasn't great which made our choice of a cottage over a hotel a good one. First time time we have used a cottage like this and took "essentials" with us but it proved not necessary as everything was already there.Was just right for two people,great location and getting the key couldn't have been easier.Parking as in most small market towns was a bit of a problem but can be worked round with several car parks to hand. Would definitely stay there again.

Everything is a good standard and works well. My only negative is the parking and that is a small one as there is pay and display parking 5 minutes walk so all in all a very pleasant stay and will be booking again as lots of good walking around Ludlow area.

The location was first class and the property was perfect for 2 people.

Couple of things that would have helped, info about the bins and recycling, also a little bit of info about the cottage ie the electric tripped and we just found the consumer box over the door. Minor things on what is a great holiday retreat. Thank you

Can't recommend Sykes or Old Town Cottage in Ludlow highly enough.

We will certainly be booking again in the future.
