Description
Market Drayton 5.6 miles. Set in an elevated position on an acre of land in the Shropshire countryside is Freshwinds, a stunning eight bedroom property, ideal for a family or a gathering of friends. Accessed via a steep driveway, which provides ample off-road parking, you will discover a large front lawn with nets, ideal for a game of football, as well as a wrap-around patio, where you can sit out and enjoy the tranquil setting and views of the nearby field and the grazing cows and sheep. Take 11 steps up to the patio and to the main entrance of the property, where you will discover a games room with wall mounted TV and sofa, leading to a large conservatory with dining seating and a seating area with rattan furniture, where you can enjoy looking out onto the large rear garden, while the ceiling fan cools the space in the summer and the central heating kicks in to provide warmth during the cooler months. The inviting sitting room has a choice of sofas to relax onto in front of the warming open fire, with your favourite Netflix show on the Smart TV, or why not have a go on the karaoke machine and have a family party? The large kitchen/diner is the perfect place to prepare and enjoy delicious meals, equipped with all of the appliances you could wish for, while the adjoining utility houses a fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer, for your convenience. A super king-size and a double bedroom can be found resting on the ground floor; both of which have TVs and storage, one of which has a private balcony with rattan furniture, where you can sit out and admire the views of the fields and out to the valley beyond. There is a bathroom suite downstairs too, with a bath, walk-in shower and double sink, offering plenty of space to prepare for each day, while upstairs there is an additional shower room with a walk-in shower where you can grab a refreshing rinse. The first floor houses the remaining six bedrooms; an impressive master bedroom with super-king-size bed, seating area and TV, patio doors that open onto a private balcony, an en-suite with a corner bath and Jacuzzi shower, as well as Bluetooth speakers, plus an adjoining dressing room, there is also a single bedroom off this room. There’s then a further three king-size doubles with smart TVs, two of which have a large balcony, and a double bedroom also with a smart TV. Spend time outside in the incredible multi-level garden, offering multiple seating areas; a luxury hot tub for an evening of relaxation under the stars; a heated outdoor pool, next to a pool house with a large fridge/freezer, where you can keep beers and bottles of wine, should you want to enjoy a pool party; a summerhouse for those cooler evenings where you can sit by the chiminea and stay nice and toasty; and a lawn area with an unfenced pond and trampoline, offering plenty to keep the whole family entertained. There is also a children’s den built within the grounds for even more fun opportunities to be had! The village of Ashley offers a pub serving food and a wine bar in walking distance, while five miles away is the town of Market Drayton, home to a lively weekly market, where you can pick up fresh produce and other exciting treats. Enjoy walks along the River Tern, admire the stunning half-timbered 16th & 17th century buildings and explore on two wheels along the Shropshire Union Canal and the Regional Cycle Route 75, both of which run through the town. There is a selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and tearooms within walking distance to choose from; be sure to try some gingerbread, which the town has a 200-year history with. The town of Whitchurch is slightly further afield renowned for its clock production and home to stunning Medieval, Tudor and Georgian architecture. Alton Towers itself is just a 30 minute drive away, so get your adrenaline pumping on the fast rides, relax in the large waterpark or indulge in a luxurious spa treatment and Trentham Gardens & Monkey Forrest with Itallian Gardens and Shops just 15 minutes drive away. Pay a visit to one of several National Trust mansions and gardens close by, including, Trentham Gardens, Alton Towers, Dorothy Clive Gardens, Hodnet Hall, Attingham, Hawkstone Park, Wollerton Gardens and Tatton Park. The medieval town of Shrewsbury and Ludlow as well as Trentham Gardens, Royal Doulton and Wedgewood can all be accessed within a short drive, with the Roman city of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester all being approx. an hour away from the property. Freshwinds is a stunning base for a get together with loved ones in Shropshire. 3 miles away from the property is Cudmore fishing lakes ‘as shown on SKY TV Fishing Matches’. 10 lakes – fishing day tickets available. 300 yards away from Cudmore fishing lakes it the beautiful 17th century Mainwaring Arms public house and Whitmore tea rooms. All well worth a visit. The Mainwaring pub is a very old pub and very nice inside and noted in the history books, with good on-site parking and the Whitmore tea rooms are next door which are the very best in Staffordshire. These tea rooms are well booked in the summer months so it is advisable to call first and book as they are so popular – you will not be disappointed. They are amazing inside, and you have the Mainwaring arms pub next door and Cudmore fishing lakes x 10 only 300 yards away all with very good parking. Also, locally near the Swan with two necks is the Dorothy Clive gardens which are beautiful for walks and only 2 miles from Freshwinds. Other attractions – Trentham gardens are a 20-minute drive from Freshwinds. A well-loved attraction including Italian design gardens and a monkey forest with and many shops and a large garden centre which is a well attraction in Staffordshire. There is also a lake and a huge estate with garden and an excellent parking facility.
Audlem is just 7 miles away or around a 15 minute drive; this is a beautiful little village with a canal passing through, and the popular Shroppie Fly Pub. Also close by is the village of Bishops Offley, home to the Anchor Inn – an unusual pub, well worth a visit! The Welsh border is only a short drive away, with it's must see scenery and places to visit including stunning Llangollen, beautiful Bala Lake and wonderful views from Horseshoe Pass to name a few. Freshwinds just has so much to offer and more, making lasting holiday memories for all the family.

Just a great place for a dozen of us to gather together.
It catered it for all our party from 9-70. The pool, hot tub and games areas provided all that we needed. The beds were comfy and the variety of spaces meant that smaller groups of our party could gather around mutual interests. Though, we did go out, there wasn't any need to for our weekend. For us it was really excellent value for money. The daily maintainance of the water facilities was largely unobtrusive and the property manager was first class. For me, though the kitchen had a lot of equipment, it wasn't sometimes easy to find what we needed but it was found eventually.

We were a party of 15, including grandchildren from ages 3 to 16 celebrating a 40th birthday for our daughter.
The house is amazing, so much to keep the little ones occupied and adults. Swimming pool and hot tub definitely the favourite go to for all. Had a fantastic weekend and would 100% recommend.

The pool was fantastic.
Stephen is great, he welcomed us and showed us around. We were a small party but we could see how well equipped the house is for larger parties as well, especially the kitchen which lacks for nothing.

The house is ideal for large family gatherings, especially if there are children.
There's lots to do, the pool and hot tub in particular are a great bonus. The kitchen is adequate for most needs, bedrooms are spacious but could benefit from being flexible on configuration of beds ie: twin beds maybe in one room. Stephen, the property manager is very helpful and considering the size of the property and it's extensive grounds, he does a good job. Location is ideal, very quiet , within walking distance of a local pub (Peel Arms) which does a fabulous Sunday roast. As said in other reviews, the property is a little tired in places but it's a big property therefore a lot of upkeep needed. Having said that we had a really good family weekend making the most of the pool and hot tub, even in the rain. The kids loved it , so if they're happy everyone is happy

There is also Robin Hood Pub with Thai Food another great pub worth a mention with Brian and Pim Landlords and a nice Log fire for the winter again within 5 minutes walking distance and the The Swan with Two Necks a Lovely Ambiance and beautiful pub inside 5 minutes drive away, a very large pub with many tables a little bit more expensive but never a bad word said on the quality of the dining experience. Our stay at Freshwinds was lovely.
The house is very well equipped and has everything you could possibly need plus things you wouldn’t think you’d need, from an Airfryer and blenders in the kitchen, to puzzles and activities plus pool toys, kids float jackets, pool noodles etc. The house is well cleaned and maintained, with a lot of thoughtful touches like lights in each room which come on when it’s getting dark. Steve met us at the house and was very friendly and accommodating- showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you so much we will definitely be coming back!

The County of Shropshire is amazing for Wildlife and Countryside of a high quality and so many places to see near too like Alton Towers- Trentham Gardens-Shrewsbury Town-Audlem-Eccleshall- and Wales 30 minutes drive away with the Welsh Scenery of Bala Lake and Horseshoe Pass Stunning places to see. Also Buxton and Ellesmere Port Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet a Brilliant shopping Centre spot with many designer shops 50 minutes drive away. Plus 1 hour to Manchester and Liverpool. Also the Potteries the World Capital for Ceramics and Royal Doulton and many more Pottery Centre Outlets. Freshwinds is a 5 star Luxury Place to stay for a Relaxing break in a good Location 15 minutes from the M6 with so much to see and do and with a 24ft x 14ft Clear Water Swimming Pool and Luxury jacuzzi for Friends and Family . An excellent holiday at Freshwinds was enjoyed by all the family(6 adults and 3 children).
The property is very comfortable and whilst it could be said it conveys a rather 'cluttered' feel this only adds to its attraction. Seating area abound, games and pastimes are plentiful and the swimming pool and hottub superb - the children loved it, as did the adults. Worthy of mention also is the fact when a couple of very minor issues arose these were very helpfully dealt with propmptly and efficiently by Steve. A throughly enjoyable experience.

Really enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub, however Xbox wasn’t working and there was a lot of clutter in the living rooms and hall ways.

We have also received today 25 New Xbox One CD games just encase any games are lost. There are 2 small tables in the Hallway and 1 Cupboard for the Visitor book and instructions for the House and Food Menus. The Living Room has quite a few sofas and extra children's seating because we Accommodate 15 Guests so we have made it so all can sit down to enjoy a film on the Extra Large Cinema type HD Hisense TV Screen. We had a wonderful stay at Freshwinds massively helped by fantastic weather enabling us to make full use of the swimming pool!
It was too hot for the hot tub but in milder weather that would have been fantastic too. The facilities are amazing so much to keep the younger members of our party busy. Stephen was great he met us at the property and showed us round and then popped back a few times during our stay. The only negative was one of the fridges wasn’t very cold but there was another so we managed. Hopefully we will get to stay again. Thank you for everything

We had a great week there is plenty on offer to keep you entertained unfortunately the weather wasn’t great so couldn’t take full advantage of everything on offer the internet was slow at times and the sky tv went down for the last two days could do with a contact number leaving in the property to resolve any issues other than than that we had a fantastic week we’re thinking thinking of booking again

We resolved the TV Sky issue with a New HDMI Cable to the Main TV, this had broken so we replaced it with a better quality cable. We have put Two contact numbers now on the main sheet in the Hallway for my Maintenance Operator and Owner, I am also contactable via pressing the doorbell on the Main Front door it rings on my mobile phone so Guests can talk directly to myself through the doorbell :-) . Thank-you for reporting the issues, My Full- Time Maintenance Manager lives only 15 minutes away from the property so we can call over with speed now if required. We have also upgraded the Sky TV and Broadband and made sure its on Superfast Broadband. Many Thanks for your supportive review and the repairs and recommendations have been implemented. Very enjoyable family stay.
House is a good size with many different spaces. Games rooms were great. Pool, whilst heated was still chilly. Hot tub took a couple of days to warm up. Kitchen was well stocked and good size for the number of guests. Property has many Knick knacks, but was incredibly clean. Really enjoyed the views from the balconies.
Hi Katie. Thank-you for your good feedback and Happy you had a very enjoyable stay. The Hot Tub issue is it needs the Insulated Cover on when not in use :-) We find that if the cover is on just an hour when not in use and especially overnight it retains the heat and goes back to 40 degrees water heated. The pool is now 28 to 30 degrees daily we increased the Temperature. Happy you all liked the Games Room and Views from the Balconies of the Countryside. We stayed as a group of 13 friends and the house was absolutely perfect for us.
It was so spacious we could even play hide and seek! The rooms were large and more than accommodating, and dining was never an issue as there was more than enough seating for everyone. The kitchen was fully loaded, from espresso machines to slushie makers, which was a great bonus. There was loads to do while still having privacy when needed. The outdoor games room and pool tables were amazing, and the swimming pool and jacuzzi were fantastic — even in the winter. The location was ideal too, being close to Stockport with short drives to both the Peak District and Manchester. The neighbours were incredibly helpful and friendly, and there was more than enough driveway space for parking. A special thank you to Rob and Stephen, who were more than accommodating and extremely helpful throughout our stay. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended for large groups.

Could not fault a single thing. The whole family enjoyed an amazing weekend for my husbands 60th birthday. The kids loved the pool, the gardens, the football, the games room and the hot tub. They were never short of something to occupy them. The pool was an amazing temperature for mid December. The karaoke was an added bonus in the evening. And the adults loved the hot tub. Would love to stay again.

Wow what a property .
On arrival we were met by Steve who gave us general information on the workings of the house. It was lovely and warm and the hot tub and pool likewise. There is sooo much to see and do the property just keeps giving its huge . Very clean ,beds comfortable and kitchen very well equipped . There were 11 of us from all ages and we were very happy celebrating a 40 th birthday over a weekend .Even with storm Claudia giving its best it didn’t dampen our experience. It’s a child’s dream and on a summer break you wouldn’t see them ,to much do and completely safe and secure on the premises. Everything has been well thought out , I would recommend to All.

We were a group of 13 ranging from 3 year olds to 64.
Celebrating a 50th it was ideal for all of us plenty of space both inside and out. Lovely big rooms. There was everything you needed. The pool and huttub was a great hit with us even though the weather was a little cold it didn't deter us from getting in. Great time had by all would love to come back in the summer and enjoy all the outside spaces.

As a group of 9, we had a fantastic stay at Freshwinds for our annual long weekend away.
It's set in beautiful surroundings, was easy to find, and is well placed to explore the area. The property is amazing with comfortable bedrooms, plenty of lounge and dining space to relax in as a group, and so much entertainment. The pool and hot tub were definitely highlights, but we also enjoyed the karaoke, table tennis, table football, etc. We will definitely be looking to book again.

Top - Pool & Hot Tub - were the best we've ever had for warmth and size and the floats provided really made the holiday - I especially liked the small volleyball net, kids liked the flamingo.
Table Football, Ice Hockey and Pool - also good Table Tennis - played the one on the pool table as found the one under the tent too dark - surrounded by too much greenery . Also found any problems we had were fixed straight away - By far we rated this one of the best holidays ever.

Fantastic communication and responsiveness overall, and a great range of equipment and facilities.
Disappointed with hot tub and pool not being ready for use (within a reasonable time) despite the fact that I specifically checked all of this prior to booking and again prior to arrival. Also we were not advised of pool leak and need to keep hose running (cold water) - this must surely have added to temperature problem? Suggest addition of coat hooks, and somewhere to put shoes/boots on/in porch area? We could only run one shower at a time, which with a large group was a little inconvenient - could this be improved?

I Agree we had some Great Communication prior to your visit but on the second day the Heater Unit unfortunately broke on the Hot Tub and you kindly reported it. We had it replaced and fixed within the hour but it had reduced the water temperature for that second day. Our Apologies. The pool has been filtered now but water was evaporating in the cold weather. Only fault the internet was down the whole weekend so no Wi-Fi. We had planned events using Wi-Fi ( karaoke, quiz night, Netflix for kids) unable to do any of these things with no Wi-Fi. Signal not great at the property

Gorgeous house in a very peaceful location.
We had ages 5 to 75 on this break and we all had a wonderful time. The pool and hot tub were a great hit with everyone. House was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Would definitely highly recommend it.

We had a fabulous time at Freshwinds.
The instructions, directions and communications were spot on. Steve was very welcoming when showing us around. The property is well appointed and we had no problems relaxing and keeping ourselves entertained. The pool room, karaoke, swimming pool and hot tub were a treat and there was plenty of room for us all to find a quiet nook if needed. We are already planning next year’s trip!!

The house was great with plenty of room for 13 people.
We were a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a lot of fridge space as the big American style fridge was tucked away in the pool house and had a sign on not in use. Although we used the pool, it was a bit on the cool side and we didn’t stay in for too long , though the hot tub was well used. The younger members enjoyed the x boxes, karaoke machine and the pool table Just a 10 minute walk to the local pub which has a good sized garden

We are going to get the fridge freezer working in the Pool House as it was new and failed to work properly and it is a bigger Fridge than the Two fridges in the house. The pool seemed slightly cooler with the weather changing so we have changed the heater settings onto boost. The Peel Arms Pub does have some large garden space and sometimes has events on the grounds. The Robin Hood is in the opposite direction with Real Ale and a Country Pub with Thai food. Yes It's a very spacious house and gardens for Families and all of the 6 staff are always very keen to make it nice for guests on their arrival. The kitchen was a difficult choice as we changed all of the worktops but felt its design was more a Country Style Kitchen in keeping with the Country House but then we equipped it well for Cooking . However we have updated other things around the property like a new stairs carpet new pergola outside new rug in the Lounge and some new facilities and we will always keep trying to improve the overall holiday experience. Everywhere was immaculate. We had a group of 10 of us and there was plenty of room. The swimming pool was warm and used lots. The spa great. So much to do. Unlike other houses there was plenty of room for us to sit and eat together. Beds were really comfortable too. We had a delivered curry from Lodge India, which was lovely. Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful.
The venue was excellent to celebrate our Birthday together 70th 66th 16 of us stayed Inc 6 grandchildren they loved the pool and hot tub. Everything was on hand and we made good use of the washing machine and tumble dryer. Bedrooms were spacious and spotless. Enough toilets to go round gardens were great with plenty to explore. 100% We will definitely be going back. Tv and Karaoke went well in every room. The only Downside of the whole holiday was the owner of the house next door. Had a JCB going from 08.00 to 17.00 Destroyed any peace and tranquility for which we needed. To help us rest bite from major ongoing terminal operations. We also had an infestation of ants which may have been caused by the groundwork that was caused by the next doors owner. They also had a fire going which sent ash over into our pool area contaminating all our excellent facilities which we had to clean up before we could carry on with our holiday. It truly spoilt our holiday. And was of no fault to the excellent venue. We would highly recommend Fresh winds and look forward to a return Health permitting.

Well what can I say to do this property justice, it absolutely exceeded all our expectations!
! As a family it’s very rare to get us all together for any length of time & this property allowed us to do just that this weekend! At no time did any of our five grandchildren aged between 6 & 12 say I’m bored which is in its self amazing!! The pool area along with the hot tub was used all day with an array of inflatables to use!! There was everything you could wish for from darts to ping pong, Xbox to karaoke which we all used!! The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need along with washing machine & tumble drier which came in handy for the pool towels provided!! This was the perfect 60th birthday celebration for my husband who just wanted his family together & he loved every minute as did everyone!! We have so many photo's & precious memories made!! A special thank you to Stephen Smith who went above & beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay!! Would definitely consider going back some time in the future!!

We were a group of 16 aged between 1 and 73 and the house was just perfect for us.
I was a little worried that it was going to be a bit run down as the photos show the house is quite dated but I don’t think the photos do the house justice at all! The place is immaculate! It is old fashioned in parts but it has been so well maintained and is spotlessly clean. It feels so homely due to all the added extras the owner has considered for all ages, the biscuits and bottle of port on arrival, the decor the games and toys, Xbox’s, karaoke, the little ones loved the giant dinosaur in the bedroom and the little man cave outside. The games area in the garage was a huge hit too. We loved that we could easily switch the table up to change from pool to air hockey and table tennis and also play darts too. The outside area is amazing and despite the endless rain we still made use of the pool and hot tub. Summer here would be spectacular! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you need, even herbs and spices in the cupboards. We reported that the washing machine appeared faulty and even though we said it wasn’t an issue and that we didn’t need it anymore it was replaced within half an hour. All the bedrooms were a great size, nicely decorated and very comfortable. If I can suggest one improvement it would be hooks or something to hang bath towels on to dry. Really minor but that was the one and only thing I thought could be better. Overall, absolutely perfect stay, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Spent four days celebrating 80th Birthday with family of 11 people.
All facilities as described and everyone enjoyed their stay. Swimming pool and hot tub were much appreciated, together with all the other facilities which kept us occupied even though the weather was cold and wet. House was lovely and warm and comfortable. Special mention to Steve for his handover and help. Nothing was too much trouble for him.

We had a fabulous weekend celebrating my 70th birthday, there were Fourteen of us, ages ranging from 30 to 79.
All our needs were covered, most of us ventured into the pool, which, considering it was early February, was fairly warm. The hot tub was very welcome after our swim though. A lovely time was had by all.

We went to Freshwinds for a large family Christmas.
Loads of space and something to entertain everyone. The bedrooms were great sizes and very well looked after, the living areas were cosy and homely. The extra effort made for our family was lovely, Christmas lights everywhere and presents under the tree. We were worried beforehand about lack of fridge/freezer space to accommodate 13 of us, but there are extra appliances dotted about. A night out in Newcastle under Lyme only cost £20 back in an uber. The nearby Co-op.was well used. So many little quirky extras to this place, we loved it

Very comfortable house with everything you need, we were a party aged 1 to 60, made good use of the hot tub and a couple of people even braved the pool despite temps of -4 outside.
The decorations lit up the house outside and inside making it feel very much like Christmas. Walked to Loggerheads for a meal which took around 20mins and would recommend a visit to Trentham Gardens, well worth the admission fee with a number of shops at the entrance to the gardens too.

Trentham Gardens is a very Special place , yes with Nice shops and Award Winning Italian Gardens and Restaurants and for the Spring /Summer Alton Towers Theme Park is only 30 Minutes away. Loggerheads is a little bit further than the Village Pub The Peel Arms only 5 minutes walk away Margaret the Landlady, serving Country Roasts and very good food. A Pub that alot miss, - There is a really nice 200 year old pub The Robin Hood Serving Excellent Thai Food with Authentic Thai chef and Beautiful inside 5 minutes Walk from Freshwinds. Many guests miss this pub on the Walk to Loggerheads hidden in the Country Lanes but it has a real Log Fire for the winter months and Real Ale and Oak Beams and Brian & Pin from Thailand the Landlords are very welcoming . We Are So Happy :-) that you enjoyed your stay and found the house to be Very comfortable and clean . We try to have so much for the kids to keep them Entertained like the Pool Table , Darts, Table Tennis Marque , Karaoke, Table Football, Basketball, Dinosaur Den, Football Pitch & Swimming Pool. & 10 Tv's. Stayed here for a week at end of September with family members ranging from ages 5-79.
The weather wasn’t particularly nice, quite a lot of rain so unfortunately children couldn’t enjoy the garden as much as they would have liked. BUT it didn’t stop anybody enjoying the pool & the hot tub, both very nice & warm. The indoor sporty facilities were used & thoroughly enjoyed. The rooms & facilities were clean & comfortable (if a little dated in places). Plenty big enough for our family party of 11. Maybe lacking in another bathroom & would have been great to have had an outdoor shower & toilet. But, all in all an extremely enjoyable break. Thank you.

We stayed at Freshwinds in July.
Lovely location and really quiet. Very comfortable rooms and plenty of room to spread out! We unfortunately arrived later than expected as the journey was AWFUL and took us nearly eight hours to get there and as Stephen was going on holiday the next day, he couldn’t wait for us (totally understandable) and so we had no ‘handover’ of the house and nobody checked in to see if all was ok during the week. We saw the pool guys twice, so felt a bit abandoned but it wasn’t really a problem! We all thoroughly enjoyed the games room, table tennis, table football, karaoke and hot tub etc. Unfortunately, although the pool was warm for the first few days, towards the end of our stay the pool was very cold and not able to be enjoyed. Very disappointing as this was the main reason we booked Freshwinds and definitely dampened the mood but the hot tub was a hit because of this! Several towels and pillowcases had marks on but they were ok and the cleanliness was generally very good. I was surprised that there wasn’t a welcome tray/pack on arrival. I usually love sitting down with a drink and reading info and looking at leaflets of the surrounding area etc. Simple things like nearest hospital/medical centre, nearby pubs, takeaways, supermarkets, instructions for appliances, when the pool guys/gardener are due etc but Google was our friend re pubs etc. (I’m old school though!) I think my biggest bug bear was the sheer amount of SILENCE/BE QUIET notices around the garden! I understand there are properties close by and I totally understand the 8am - 10pm curfew on noise in the garden but it was literally everywhere you looked! It made us quite conscious of even sitting out and talking! Despite the gripes, we all had a lovely relaxing, comfortable week away and on the whole, we enjoyed our stay.
Hello Helen. Happy overall that you had a comfortable week and enjoyed your stay. Yes we had a few staff going on holiday one week in the summer months and we were stretched for a week. We have resolved this issue now only taking holidays on no guests weeks and we resolved the Pool Water Temperature issues by installing a new £7000.00 Pool Heater that works all year around and provides us with much higher water heat quality temperatures. We usually don't get too many summer problems with the water if the weather is hot but we are now prepared if its's a little colder summer or winter with our new water heater. The bedding we have replaced all with new and I am looking at that Welcome Pack for Guests. Also we added a nice pergola in the garden. Furnishings and decor require updating.
Kitchen units need attention as do some torn and ripped carpets. Hot water was not always available.

Only the downstairs has the original kitchen but it is a nice looking Country Kitchen and we changed all of the Kitchen work surfaces last year and Electrics. The outside facilities had £25,000.00 spent on them with a New Pool Lining and New Jacuzzi and New Games Room and New Boiler System and New Summerhouse and New Marquee for the Table Tennis. Lovely house perfect for our stay.
We were a party of 11 adults with 8 children (5 of which were in travel cots) so plenty of room for all! The house was clean well equipped and we had a great fun. The pool was a bit too cold for us to use in the weather we had but clean and wellaibtained would be fab in summer. The hot tub was well appreciated as was the darts and ping pong area. Garden was massive and spanned several areas which was great for an Easter egg hunt and the football pitch was also well used by the young and adult boys. Thanks to the hosts for an easy and pleasant stay including returning items left behind!

We had a lovely stay at Fresh winds, friends travelled from all over the country and it was easy to get to.
Great facilities and lots of room. The house is a little bit dated but that didn't impact on our stay at all.

We were four families and stayed for the weekend.
All the boys (aged 10) had a fantastic time and made full use of all the facilities including the games rooms, pool and hot tub. We too thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the house comfortable and clean. We were 13 people in total and the only downside was the hot water run out fairly quickly, so a few of us had to have cold showers and the heating didn’t seem to work all the time. This did not however take away from our experience and we will def be looking to book again in the future.

Freshwinds was an absolutely gorgeous place to stay.
Lots of room and lots to do. From the pool table to the football table, to the heated outdoor pool (that isn't small! About 8ft deep at one end and a comfortable maybe 4 ft at the other, plenty of room for lots of fun!), to the amazing hot tub, which comfortably sat 5!) to the extensive gardens where there is always something to see, to the football pitch, to the selection of games both indoors and in the summer house too. There is also the karaoke, another nice addition, although we didn't use it, it was nice to know it was there. Comfortable beds, beautiful views. Amazing. My words of advice to anyone is this, please be aware, it is based on a hill, which is quite steep. Also, there are a fair few steps, so please bear that in mind...But honestly, once in, I only popped out for supplies and we spent the whole week there relaxing and enjoying the house! Stephen (then maintenance gentleman,) popped by most days, just to make sure all was OK, and the gardener came most days to upkeep the garden, but we rarely saw him, if we did he was helpful and kind. The biggest issue we had was the fridge, as it simply wasn't big enough or working well enough, for the size of the house. There is an extra American fridge freezer in the shed by the pool, but, not practical for food for the kitchen all the way through the house. I'm hoping this gets sorted as that was the only major issue we had. I can highly reccomend this stunning house to anyone. Thank you for letting us enjoy it! I'm hoping to return in the future.
Freshwinds was a lovely holiday home in a lovely quiet area.
We had views of fields with horses and rabbits every morning. There were 5 families altogether and there was plenty of space for everyone. Great choices for entertainment with TV’s with Sky and Netflix, karaoke, table tennis, game consoles, football, trampoline and toys for kids. The hot tub was kept on throughout and they came to clean it during the stay so we could make good use of it, which we did :) It was a little cold when we stayed but we were able to use the pool a couple of days as the heated aspect took the edge of. The inflatables provided were a nice touch and gratefully appreciated by the kids. We went on some country walks and visited Tretham Monkey forest nearby which is a must. However most of the time we spent relaxing at the house as there was so much to do and the main reason we had come. The staff who look after the house and gardens are extremely friendly and helpful. They even came to help us diagnose a car issue we’d had on the way up and recommended local garages for us. Our only negative was we felt their should be more towels provided considering the hot tub and pool but as long as you pack some extra towels you’ll be fine as there is a washing machine and tumble dryer available. Would definitely consider booking again!

Amazing family stay at Freshwinds.
We were so lucky with the weather so made full use of the pool, hot tub, BBQ (please provide matches or a lighter for this though, had to ask the gardener!). Karaoke machine was a big hit, as were the Xboxes and tons of tellies for the children! Would benefit from a bigger fridge and indoor recycling bins but we were very happy with our choice of holiday house. Thanks to Steve for showing us around when we arrived, very friendly and helpful.

We have a Garden Swing Chair arriving soon and another 4 Seater Rattan Garden Table & Chairs. We are arranging a secure place for all barbeque equipment to use on the Living Flame Brick Barbeque and have an alternative Gas Barbeque aswell. We stayed here for a Hen weekend & had a lovely time.
The house has amazing space inside & out. The only reason I've not given it a 5 star is the towels do need to be abit bigger & please buy a better hoover as the one you have is way to small for the size of the house. Overall I would recommend this property to others. Thankyou
It is a lovely property but very difficult to find unless you have spoken to Steve or Rob who will then tell you the better directions to put in your satnav to find the property.
Steve and Rob are both very approachable. The property is ideal for a multigeneration family holiday. Helped by really good weather we were all able to make full use of the pool, hot tub, table tennis and the fabulous gardens.

We have just spent a week with family at the property, the rooms were spacious and comfy, with pretty balconies.
Inside space was good and plenty of room for us all to sit and eat together, The outside space was better than we thought, the pool was heated perfectly, along with the hot tub which both got used by everyone (all ages). The hosts were helpful and waiting for us when we arrived, would return.

The house was exceptional.
The house is sat so high up. The views are incredible. Balconies in the main rooms are are a sun spot, sky on basically all rooms. The outside entertainment area is amazing, swimming pool, hot tub, outside fridges for drinks, BBQs and an incredible summer house with sky inside. We’re so glad we found this house. It’s so difficult to find places these days for groups of friends but this place was perfect and Stephen was the perfect host.

A perfect large house for family and friends to get together for a staycation The highlight to this property is the outside space.
There are lots of little hidden corners to explore. The pool and hot tub are both in good condition and were used constantly throughout our stay. Both being heated made then accessible even on cooler days. Bring your own pool towels. Overall the garden area gets top marks. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds. However there are a few issues that need addressing. The house needs a good declutter as well as the kitchen draws and cupboards a good clear out and clean. The dishwasher could do with repairing or replacing but does work. Instructions are needed for the TVs, DVDs, X-Box etc as well as again a good clear out of remotes, batteries, spare wires etc. This is the reason I haven’t rate top marks overall. However we honestly we had a fantastic time and made use of the local pub, Lodge India and walks in the surrounding area..
We were a group of 15 and have just spent 4 days at Freshwinds and we had a brilliant time (to be honest we did have the hottest week of the year so far so the pool was well used).
The house is lovely, very spacious and well equipped. The pool house fridge was a god send for cold drinks and ice creams. There are smart TVs in all the rooms with sky and Netflix. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms are good sizes. The gardens are just beautiful and very well maintained, Ken the gardener, was lovely and turned up most days to potter about, but we rarely saw him and he certainly didn’t bother us. Any issues we had were quickly (within the hour) resolved by Steve the manager, who was great, nothing we asked of him was too much trouble. There’s a co-op a couple of mins drive away, and a big Morrison’s about 10 mins drive away. Can highly recommend The Peel Arms too, they were very accommodating and the food was delicious.

As a family we often hire cottages for our holiday in the UK and this one by far exceeds all the rest which some have even been more expensive than this.
The atmosphere of the garden is like you see in Disney and fairytale movies. The little romantic corners, the pond, the barbecue area. The pool and jacuzzi are both in good condition and very enjoyable for both adults and children. Overall the garden area is 10 out of 10. The is amazing, the karaoke machine makes your stay much more enjoyable. The bedrooms are nice and the bedding are clean and cosy. Now there are a few issues in this property. Firstly the conservatory was leaking when it rained and we couldnt enjoy that part anymore as the floor was soaking. The toilets need updating as the flush downstairs hardly works. There is a musty smell all round which is understandable considering the leaking issue. The drawers are full of dusty and quite dirty clutter. It would be much nicer if this was cleared out. This is the reason I haven’t rated all top marks. But honestly we had the best time. And let’s not forget the balcony and front foodball pitch/garden. This could be anyones dream home.

All of our beds are New and of very good quality We pride ourselves in having the house very clean for All of our guests and employ a large team of A1 cleaners to ensure the house is of a very high standard for the arrival of our guests. We have corrected the conservatory leak caused by a very heavy rain storm that week overflowing the guttering. We have replaced the guttering and changed a window. We have also cleaned out all of the draws to a high standard and on completion of the conservatory repair this has resolved the musty air and dampness caused by the rain and leak. The toilet flush has also been replaced for new. The House is clean and fresh and the pool is new and Jacuzzi is new and of good quality with Bluetooth sound and extensive jets , hydro and water fountains. We appreciate your comments and are extremely pleased that you rated us the best cottage you have ever experienced for this price and had had such a lovely time and a Great Holiday . The area has so much to offer with the extensive wildlife and natural beauty and with Thai & Indian & English Village Restaurants and beautiful character pubs and 30 minutes from Alton Towers the location has so much to offer Hope you will return & Thank-you for your kind comments Robert
