Chimney Cottage

Lovely.

my only MINOR negative is the parking. You need to be a confident driver as you ideally need to reverse the last bit the road is NARROW if you drive a large vehicle as i do there is no where to turn around.

The cottage was lovely albeit a bit chilly and dark downstairs so you had to be careful walking around as all the floors were dark wood.

There wasn't an iron at the property which was a bit disappointing. You had to be careful walking out into the back garden because of the steps up to the patio and also the lock on the door at times was difficult to open. The cottage is situated in an ideal location and the 2 pubs had very friendly staff and served lovely food.

We loved staying at Chimney Cottage and were struck by how clean it was on arrival.

It is in the most beautiful position with wonderful views across the rooftops to the valley beyond. To make this cottage tip top there are a few suggestions we would like to make: Kitchen lighting is really poor. Under work top lighting would really help. There are no wooden spoons, bread knife, suitable knife for peeling veg or garlic press. The bed in the main bedroom is only a double and there is plenty of room for a king size which would make this room perfect. Other than the above suggestions, we are delighted to recommend Chimney Cottage.

We had a lovely week at the cottage.

It was very clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for visiting local towns such as Buxton and Bakewell, and there are good walks from the village.

The cottage itself was lovely and cosy and a fantastic place to spend some time after a long walk in the Peaks. The cottage was clean, kitchen well equipped, bathroom modern and clearly quite new, bedroom comfortable and peaceful, and living room with gas stove really very cosy. In terms of location it couldn't be better, with some amazing walks beginning the minute you step foot out of the door, some great pubs in the village, and a short drive to other great spots such as Chatsworth and Matlock. We loved our stay and would definitely book again. Highly recommended.

We found Chimney cottage a really special place to stay.

Really comfortable, cosy, clean, well equipped and clearly the owners are people are really love the Peak District the cottage is situated in too. Brilliant enclosed garden for the dog was a great bonus. Winster is a very atmospheric village, amazing views from the cottage, handy shop with friendly staff very close by and beautiful walks from the door. Nothing beats being cosy in bed and hearing owls hooting to each other just outside. If you love truly feeling away from it all this is perfect. Highly recommend thank you !

Myself, mother age 97 and sister recently stayed in the beautiful chimney cottage for 4 nights and despite the first 2 days being very strong winds and rain the cottage was so cozy and warm with absolutely beautiful views.

instructions were easy to follow and there was some essentials included such as milk, salt and pepper, olive oil, tea bags, coffee and washing up liquid/ cloths. Plenty of My mum did struggle a bit getting up the stairs but it really helped that their was a downstairs toilet. once the weather cheered up we managed to sit in the lovely garden , very private and once again stunning views. Also the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and crockery to enable you cook like a gourmet chef ! I cant wait to return!

We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage — it’s in a fantastic location, ideal for exploring the local area.

The cottage itself was clean, cozy, and well-equipped, making for a really enjoyable break. The only slight confusion we had was with the bin instructions. The guidance to “put the bins out” was a bit vague, as there were two black bins and no clear indication of which was for general waste or recycling, or where exactly to leave the bins or bin bags. A little more detail here would be really helpful for future guests. Overall, though, a great place to stay and one we’d be happy to return to.

A charming cottage with great personality.

Kitchen facilities are very good and bed is very comfortable. Had a cup of tea each morning whilst sat on the bench by the front door. A picture postcard view. But please ask the owners to provide a bench cushion, as enjoying the morning sunshine is curtailed with the unforgiving seat. Family had a great experience.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful village.

Close to all amenities. The church is beautiful and there is tea and cake at the weekends in the summer. Just a few comments that would make the cottage 5* need a freezer compartment in fridge No recycling facility The back door key only turns if you lift the door at the same time as turning the key. Just need to know knack! Other than that a perfect cottage for a short break.

Lovely stone cottage with far reaching views and the sound of sheep and chickens from the window.

Clean and recently renovated. Comfy beds and sofa. Lovely over-bath shower with plenty of hot water. The cottage warms up quickly when needed. Points to note: parking directly outside the property is up a narrow, steep road. Luckily we only had a Fiat 500 but if you have a larger car I would not advise going all the way to the cottage, as the road gets narrower. Access to the garden is up steps via the snug, not the kitchen, so bear that in mind if using the snug as a third bedroom. The Jack and Jill bathroom worked for us as it was just me and my adult kids. You just have to remember to lock and unlock both entrance doors before and after using. The village is absolutely beautiful. The pub closest the cottage is not open Mon-Wed (ie when we stayed!) but the other pub is still walking distance away and food was delicious. Local ale brewed ten minutes away from the pub. Village shop open 8-6 every day and well stocked. Lots of lovely places to visit and take aways in Bakewell and Matlock within 10-15 mins drive. A peaceful break in a charming little cottage in a charming village in a beautiful area. It was interesting to read about the history of the village in the book on the lounge table - every shop you can imagine and over 20 pubs at one time!
