  • "1 Barley cottage is one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in."

The standard of cleanliness and comfort and style are outstanding. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided and the property is extremely dog friendly. Location is ideal for exploring this area of the Peak District and we would certainly return and 100% recommend to anyone holidaying in this area.

It has everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable stay! The kitchen is very well stocked and the lounge is so cosy! We also love the views from the garden and the summer house at the top. Definitely coming back again!

  • "We had a fabulous time at Barley Cottages."

Amazing views and pretty much every detail considered by the owner. The kitchen is soo well equipped with everything you need to cater for a group of 6 plus a dog! The location is perfect for getting out on immediate walking trials, or a little mooch into town. The weather was pretty dismal for our stay though, so no long hikes as intended, but it was magical watching thunder and lightning storms across the valley from the summer house. The garden is spectacular and a lot of work must have gone into it. I would say the garden isn’t suitable to let a small dog off lead in my opinion and my only feedback would be to possibly point this out in the booking details. We would love to stay again.

We are happy you enjoyed your stay and the facilities offered as we wish you have every comfort available. In addition we are pet friendly we supply everything you might need for your beloved pet however we are unable and or cannot guarantee that the garden is pet secure because even the most determined pet will work out a way to escape. All the rooms are immaculate and designed with a contemporary finish. Everything we needed was available, making our stay very relaxing and comfortable. The garden is amazing with fantastic views (we were blessed to the first proper week of sunshine this year! Which meant lovely evenings admiring the Derbyshire countryside). The garden is also very secure for a dog but those with limited mobility would struggle. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely recommend.

  • "This is probably the best cottage we have stayed in."

It is immaculately decorated with so much attention to small details such as the torches readily available and always charged conveniently placed on the walls, the lights which come on automatically in the dark and the abundance of high quality kitchen equipment. I could go on and on. The furniture is top quality, the settees and beds all comfortable. It is ultra doggy friendly, feeding bowls, toys, blankets, treats, everything has been thought of. The garden is lovely- you get lots of exercise going up and down the steps! The views at the top are superb, excellent place to sit and have a cuppa or glass of wine. I cannot rate this cottage too high, we would love to go back.

Kitchen in particular equipped to very high standard and the supply of tea coffee and washing up items much appreciated. It’s stylish and immaculate, with really good quality fixtures and fittings and a well kitted out kitchen. I was a bit apprehensive when I booked as I couldn’t find any reviews but this is clearly because the place is brand new. There are beautiful walks on your doorstep and lots to do nearby. The terrace has a wonderful view I could have sat there all day. This cottage has lots of stairs that are quite steep, both inside and outside so please be aware that if anyone is a bit unsteady on their feet this might be a bit difficult for them. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone else and hope to be back again soon.Thank you!
