A higher arm chair for us oldies - the sofas were very low. Also a shelf in the shower for shampoo, soap etc. we had to put such toiletries on the floor of the shower. The location was perfect with peace and beauty all around but with lots to see and do not many miles away.

  • "The Bothy at Meeson Hall was exactly as we had hoped and better."

It was totally secluded and peaceful, immaculately clean and beautifully decorated throughout with such attention to detail making it so welcoming and very comfortable. We loved the private garden at The Bothy, perfect for playing football, hide & seek and doing an Easter egg hunt during the Easter holidays and the gardens surrounding Meeson Hall were a wonderful addition to explore. I loved being able to sit outside under the long wooden porch overlooking the back garden with a cup of tea even if it was raining. The lovely touch of the welcome pack with delicious Meeson Hall homemade jam, bread, eggs and milk definitely made this one of the best places we have stayed. And not forgetting to thank the owners, Mark and Adrian who were such wonderful hosts, they have the perfect combination of being friendly and approachable whenever you needed them without being intrusive which not all hosts achieve in my experience. Thank you, it really was the perfect place to spend our Easter holidays and experience Ironbridge down the road. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. We can't wait to visit again.

We found it to be clean to very high standards. The welcome pack was plentiful. The cottage is very well equipped for all your needs, felt like home from home. It was very warm, cosy and very private. Mark was the perfect host, very attentive but not intrusive, always on hand if needed. It was a great base to see sights of Shropshire or if you just want to enjoy a lovely rest within the grounds. We experienced 2 storms during our stay, but we felt very safe in The Bothy we hunkered down with no issues, keeping lovely and warm with the log burner going. It was every bit the luxury accommodation that is advertised and would 100% recommend The Bothy or any of the other Cottages within the grounds of Meeson Hall.

  • "We stayed only one night."

We had wanted to postpone the holiday due to Covid 19 but were assured that the place would have been cleaned by specialists. We were disappointed however although it had been cleaned after the previous occupant it was not up to the standard we expected. Sofas were badly stained cutlery was dirty along with the fridge. The garden was overgrown, patio dirty. Warnings about not leaving doors open in case Foxes or badgers may come in was information we did not want to hear. Covid and our age 74 left us feeling vulnerable and uncomfortable. We have stayed with Sykes quite a few times and have never been disappointed before, however we may now decide not to book again. I

Firstly, as the reviewer states, they had wanted to postpone the booking to next year at short notice because they were nervous of travelling during the Covid 19 outbreak. Unfortunately, we were unable to agree to their request because they had left it too late for us to re-book with another client. We never claim that our cottages are cleaned by ‘specialists’. We have our own experienced cleaning staff who, for many years have cleaned the three cottages and the hotel rooms at Meeson Hall, all of which receive good reviews of cleanliness both on the Sykes website and on Tripadvisor. Cutlery and crockery are put through the dishwasher and fridges, freezers and cookers are thoroughly cleaned after each letting. We have never before received a complaint on cleanliness. Any marks on soft furnishings are removed after each letting with Dr Beckman cleaner. On arrival, we apologised that the grass round the cottage was a bit longer than we usually keep it because we had had so much rain over the previous week that the groundsmen had been unable to cut it. However, we advised that it was due to be cut on the following Monday, which it was. The patio is always swept between lettings, although we had had some high winds which may have blown a few leaves on to it. We are in a country setting and surrounded by trees which most people find attractive. The property is single storey, and the main bedroom has bi-fold doors. It is common sense in a property set in 8 acres of park-like grounds and surrounded by farmland, to close fulllength doors at night against the possible intrusion of wildlife, be it pheasants, rabbits. foxes, or whatever. This has nothing to do with Covid or age (I am 74 myself). When these clients telephoned on the Saturday morning to say that they had left and had left the keys in the door, we asked if there was a problem. The answer was ‘no problem, we just had to go home’ Property Owner

The cottage is in the beautiful manicured grounds of Meeson Hall which are great for a stroll but a particular luxury for us living in the city was the lovely private garden. We had a day out to The Wrekin, a nice woodland and hill walk. It is also within driving distance to Ironbridge and Shrewsbury for a day out, but we found the cottage was great for just relaxing. • "A lovely comfortable Bothy set in the grounds of Meeson Hall which is a delight in itself."

You are encouraged to wander all the grounds and at night the Hall is lit up which is quite magical. All the positive feedback comments already published on The Bothy we totally agree with - there are no negatives. It was lovely to arrive on a bit of a chilly day to find the heating and lights on to welcome us. The heating is a marvellous system. Mark and Adrian have thought of everything for your comfort, great hosts and would be there if you needed them. It was just like staying in the grounds of a National Trust property and it was all ours! The last half mile to the property is a single road, we never met anyone, and Mark tells us that the locals are very thoughtful if you do meet. Other than that the roads are fine and there are many interesting places to visit. On a rainy day there would be no better way to spend it than at RAF Cosford. Two veterans, one in their 90's and the other 100, were there to talk to and I think this would be a regular thing. It was quite special. Thank you to a previous reviewer who more or less wrote a Travel Guide to the area, which we followed! If you are there on a day when the Gardner is at Meeson Hall, which is quite likely, say hello to Joe and his colleague. A great stay, so comfortable, we were at home within minutes.
