The property is absolutely wonderful and amazing.

If you love nature, the countryside, tranquillity and relaxation, this is definitely the place for you. However, getting in touch with Sykes as a company can best be described as - WOEFUL and lacks any humanity. As an organisation the service is extremely poor as a result of a distinct lack of response if there are any issues. If the property is on another website, I will book or I will only go through Sykes if I want this property again.

The Beeches was very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Lots of thought had obviously been given to what guests may require. Despite the weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I always prefer an accommodation that is on its own with an enclosed garden and for others who prefer the same, it definitely ticked both those boxes!

The Beeches was a great place to stay- very easy to park and the enclosed garden around the whole bungalow was lovely and made our stay with two dogs so easy.

The owner, Jane, was always so happy to help and quick to respond to our queries. The bonus for us was two double bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs… very few cottages and places to stay have that. The home was well equipped and clean and felt homely, so it was easy to relax. It was also so easy to reach excellent walks. Thank you.

Lovely comfortable cottage and excellently equipped with everything you need, beds were really comfortable and garden was great for our dogs.

Location is fantastic our favourite walks were all within 10-15 miles away. Would certainly not hesitate to stay here again

The Beeches is a great base for exploring the Peak District.

It was clean,cosy and homely. Very dog friendly and especially good for our pooch who can be anxious/reactive- nothing disturbed him here.Jane and Colin are fab hosts with excellent communication throughout and who very kindly dropped off a clothes drying rack as the weather was not so kind to us! Thank you for our lovely hols.

Rural set cottage so peaceful.

Property is set up as a home not a holiday let so very comfy and homely. Easy access to Matlock.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Beeches.

Cottage was lovely and clean, kitchen well equipped and the sofas in the living room were the most comfortable of any holiday let we have stayed in. Location a views were superb. We spent hours watching the birds and our little dogs loved running about in the garden. The only negatives for us was the dishwasher was very awkward to get to and the hot water schedule needs adjustment. Only two could have a hot shower in the morning and the water did not come back on again so no hot water in the evenings. We were told how and where to boost the water but an adjustment of the schedule would be helpful for future visitors to this lovely cottage. We would definitely recommend The Beeches and would be happy to visit again.

This place is just beautiful.

It was so homely and comfortable. Wine, biscuits, treats and milk all left for us to enjoy. Owners were so helpful and kind. Can't wait to go back.

The Beeches was perfect for us - 3 friends and a dog!

It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The log burner provided cosy, warm evenings. We loved its situation and views. It was perfectly placed for visiting the places we wanted to go to - Bakewell, Cromford, Buxton etc. The owners were exceptionally kind and helpful. We intend to book up for next year.

Lovely property, really homely and cosy and it was a very enjoyable stay.

I have two areas that could be improved to make this a five star review which would be to replace the mattresses on the downstairs doubles, both are too soft and lumpy and to put a heated towel rail in the downstairs bathroom, one small rail over the radiator was insufficient for two, I have no idea how more people could cope with where to put their towels to dry after a shower!

Two nans and 3 grandchildren.

We loved it. Only downside which was nothing to do with cottage really was that the nearby track was blocked off and so grandson not able to cycle directly from the cottage. We were able to take the bike in the car to nearby cycle tracks. Colin and Jane very hospitable hosts.

Everything you could want for a holiday cottage including fresh flowers and a bottle of bubbly.

Will definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at The Beeches.

For two couples and two dogs it is really good with facilities on both floors allowing a measure of independence. However, the shower over the bath was difficult to control but with minor attention it could be perfected. The enclosed garden was perfect enabling the dogs to play more or less unsupervised off lead. More information would have enabled us to be more helpful with housekeeping at the end of our visit but, the owner was very kind and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this comfortable cottage to those wanting visit and walk in the Peak District.

The property was exactly as we had hoped for.

Beautiful setting and amazing mature country garden which our german shepherd Bruce loved. The reception rooms were well laid out to make the most of the moderate space, very comfy and ample seating for relaxing and dining. The hosts were very friendly and understanding (with my nervous dog) which made our stay all the more relaxing. I would highly recommend this little cottage for a wonderful country break.. 5*

We enjoyed a lovely week at The Beeches, it was not the best of weather but the bungalow is warm and comfortable.

Lovely garden for the dogs to play in and also for us to sit in enjoying the views. Everything we needed was provided and the fresh flowers, chocolate biscuits and bubbly were very much appreciated. The owners are lovely and we would not hesitate to recommend The Beeches and hope to return in the near future.

This is a lovely, homely cottage in the fields of Matlock.

We have stayed here for 6 days and 5 nights during February, and we enjoyed every day cosying up in this cottage. The owners have really put an effort into every detail, making sure the cottage is comfortable and fits every need. This was a perfect place to stay if you have a dog with you and excellent if you have big family. The cottage overlooks gorgeous countryside, and is great for a country break. We relished our peaceful stay and would love to come back when we are in the area.

Absolutely fantastic cottage.

Everything you need is there. Even went extra mile and put christmas tree and decorations for our girly xmas weekend. Welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine and cookies.

Had a great time at the Beeches.

Very comfortable accommodation, met all our needs. Comfy beds (fab bed linen!), good shower, very well equipped spacious kitchen. Excellent heating and hot water. Good strong dining chairs and table. Generous sofa space and TV (nice to have on the fog day). Lovely location, very practical, secure garden. Useful outhouse and hose for bike. Particularly liked roomy porch for drying dog feet and changing boots. Altogether, couldn't fault it. Really hope we get to come again.

Fabulous property in great location.

Almost faultless other than hot water in bath and shower not hot enough, also dishwasher a little inaccessible. Had a lovely stay and would easily recommend to anyone.

The Property was ideal for our needs.

Clean comfortable, ideally located and charming with well kept gardens, we really enjoyed our stay and the dogs were happy with enough garden for them.

We have a wonderful stay at The Beeches.

Very spacious for a small cottage with my wife, daughter and 2 dogs. My mother stayed with us for a couple of days during the stay. Location is perfect for peace and quiet as well as visiting all the wonderful attractions the Peak District has to offer. No more than 20 minute drive from most places. On arrival, key collection went perfectly and even had a bottle of wine waiting for us and a few snacks for the dogs. We minimise contact with the owners but when we did contact them, they responded immediately and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again, given the opportunity and would highly recommend.

Ideally situated, very clean and spacious with garden space.

All essentials available and ready for use. Just what we expected and more. Regrettably the weather wasn't too kind so we had little opportunity to enjoy the outside areas. On saying that plenty of places to visit within a 20mile (30 min) area. Really enjoyed our short stay.

Very happy with our stay at the Beeches.

We had everything we needed in the house, and enjoyed sitting in the lovely garden on sunny days. The secure enclosed garden gave us peace of mind when our dogs were outside. Jane and Colin were extremely helpful in sorting out a couple of problems: nothing was too much trouble.

Very nice cottage everything you need .

Would benefit from a welcome booklet with recommendations of places to eat and visit . We tried to leave it spotless but there wasn’t a working hoover or mop and bucket . Also be nice to have a review book to see where other guests have enjoyed to visit and good restaurants. When you aren’t a local nice for recommendations ! Overall a lovely stay and it was spotless

The Beeches was a great home away from home for a week and we really looked forward to returning to the cottage after a day exploring the Derbyshire Dales.

The cottage was equipped to a high standard in terms of equipment and just some of the small touches made by Jane (such as a box of Maltesers on arrival) just added to the overall impression. The Beeches felt lived in and a home and on a couple of days when the weather was at its worst we were quite happy as a family of 4 watching TV, reading or just relaxing. whilst our SatNAV didn't take us to the precise location, the detailed description and directions got us safely there. A great base for exploring the area and we'd definitely return to The Beeches again

Cottage was very comfortable well furnished and kitchen equipment good.

Nice bedrooms with good storage for clothes etc and comfortable beds. Only recommendation we would make is that the garden furniture is replaced at sometime it was looking a bit jaded but believe that the garden is a work in progress. Dog friendly garden fully enclosed we enjoyed our stay

This cottage is fantastic with great views.

The downstairs bedrooms are really useful for people less mobile but the downstairs bathroom has a shower inside the bath and getting leg over to step into bath to stand under shower can prove difficult with people less mobile. Also it states it sleeps 6, which it does, but there are only enough seats for 4, in the living room. One chair and one 3 seated sofa.
