  • "Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated and kept and in great spot in pretty village."

The hot water pump is unfortunately extremely noisy but that didn’t spoil our enjoyment.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. The hot water pump is the quietest we can find plus it has noise reducing lagging round it. You can turn it off especially overnight as per instructions in the bedroom. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage overlooking the duckpond."

Easy to find. Parking for 2 cars. The cottage is a true home from home. The owners have considered everything you could want. Maybe could use a little more drawer storage in the bedrooms?. The local pub and cafe are only a short walk away. Both handy if you don't want to cook. It's so easy to get to tourist attractions and local towns. Buxton, Bakewell and Eyam were our favourites. Thank you for a wonderful week, see you next year

  • "We loved the Cottage, the location was perfect with short drives to Buxton and Bakewell."

Our only concern was the hot water for the ensuite. The electric shower worked fine but temperature of the water from the tank in the ensuite was for one couple a little to cool and intermittent. The booster was used but it still didn't reach the required temperature. The fact the pub was near by which was great we ate there a couple of times. Neighbours where friendly and we enjoyed the relaxation.

Happy you enjoyed your stay overall. If you had let us know about the water, we could've upped the temperature for you. Property Owner

  • "A lovely little cottage in an idyllic setting with a view of a village pond visited (when we were there) by a heron."

The beds are super comfortable, one with an en suite bathroom, the other having a bathroom next door. The kitchen/diner is light and airy, the lounge dark but equipped with subtle lighting. The garden is lovely, and we enjoyed sunny evenings in it, but as it does not immediately adjoin the house a diagram taped to the back door would have been useful so as not to trespass on neighbours property. The nearest town - Bakewell - is delightful. Thanks to the owners for equipping and maintaining such a lovely property.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. It's great to see the wildlife visiting the pond. Property Owner

  • "Our Vodaphone mobiles had no reception- had to travel out of village to make/receive calls so this information would have been useful in advance."

Could find no matches for lighting stove when one evening a fire in living room would have supplemented the controlled heating. We had forgotten how important can be the number of stair treads for older people as well as gradient approach of front door. The downstairs toilet is a real asset! Shower/bathrooms very good, lovely cooking facilities.

Thank you for your feedback. We are not on vodafone ourselves and no-one else has mentioned it so we were unaware of the phone signal problem. The matches were in the bin with the kindling so had probably slipped to the bottom. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location for where we wanted to explore."

The cottage was very clean and instruction were very clear. The cottage was warm and cosy. Bed was very soft (not what we were used to) but none the less was comfortable. Neighbours were very friendly and welcoming. Getting my bike into the shed in the back garden was a bit of effort to start with. No problems with any of the facilities, shower was superb, water always hot.

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. The bedrooms have different mattress firmness so you probably stayed in the front bedroom if it felt a bit softer Property Owner

We travelled with two children and a 4 month old baby - the travel cot had a really comfy mattress which was an added bonus (as usually it’s just a hard base). Beds comfy, it was always warm and the shower was lovely. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone, and hope to return next year. Thanks

It was really lovely of the owners, Claire and Martin, to leave a welcome pack of wine, biscuits, coffee, tea and milk. The modern kitchen was very clean and well equipped with more than enough crockery and cutlery, and everything needed for cooking meals. The spacious bedrooms had very comfortable beds with beautifully fresh bedding. The bathrooms were of a very high standard, and everything was spotlessly clean. I had to leave two days early to go back to work, but my partner and brother stayed on, with instructions to leave the cottage as clean as when we arrived. I hope they achieved this! We would love to stay in the cottage again, and have told all our friends about it.

Flies were quite a problem but we accept that as you are in the countryside but a fly swat or maybe some fly spray killer would have been handy. Just a few small items that would have made it perfect .

The 2nd bathroom had a bath and shower over head which was also very good. Lots of useful information in the cottage, to help with the area Having outside space and a car parking space is a lovely bonus. • "The cottage ,situated in the heart of the small village of Monyash , is delightful."

It overlooks the village pond and within a few minutes walk you can be at the pub , the cafe , the church , see alpacas or get fresh farm eggs. Inside the cottage the kitchen and spacious bathrooms are equipped to a very high standard and all the electrical equipment was so easy to use too. Everything was spotlessly clean ; beautiful carpets , towels and bed linen , kitchen cutlery and crockery , pans etc all excellent . The decor is faultless and very tasteful too. A small lounge but then it was cosy and comfy In the mornings ( when it was warm enough ! ) it was so relaxing to sit with your coffee outside the front door and just gaze at this idyllic village , heat the church bells, watch the heron fly in for breakfast , watch the ‘ ladies in waiting ‘ in the field by the pond and a huge bonus for us we saw two of the sheep lamb ! A very friendly village with folk stopping to talk to you as you walk around Great walks from the door and cycling area. We found it perfect and are going to book again .

The cottage was immaculately clean with lots of homely touches plus the festive decorations. If I had one complaint it would be paying for extra logs for the fire we had already paid quite a good amount to stay for 4 nights, I can't imagine another bag of logs would have broken the owners bank?!

Thank you for your kind feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. We do leave one pack of complimentary logs for each stay along with tea, coffee, milk, sugar, sanitiser, etc and a bottle of wine. As this was over the New Year period, we did leave additional gifts of prosecco and a tub of festive chocolates which we hope you enjoyed. Property Owner

Very noisy boiler. Cottage immaculate and very clean.

Thank you for your feedback. The heating can be adjusted on each radiator by using the +/- buttons but if you were having problems, then we could have been there in 30 minutes if you had called. The property is all electric and doesn't have a boiler so it must be the immersion heater for the hot water that you thought was noisy and apologise if this disrupted your stay. But we are glad you found the cottage clean and immaculate. The owners. Property Owner

  • "This holiday cottage was everything we could’ve asked for and more !"

Amazing location, which was a great base for everything we wanted to do. As soon as we walked in to the house we could tell how clean everything was, which really put our minds at ease especially given the current situation. The lockbox for the keys was easy to find and access, although we did find the front door locks really quite stiff so keep this in mind when you are unlocking/locking the door! The cottage was probably the best equipped cottage I’ve ever stayed in, we had everything we could possibly need. Two fantastic sized bedrooms one with a wonderful en suite, and the main bathroom was fantastic as well. The cottage garden is a lovely addition and it was nice to sit up there on the warm summer evening- bare in mind though you can only access it by going through the neighbours garden, but this didn’t bother us at all! Claire and Martin left a little guide on good local pubs, and instructions on how to use some of the appliances which was much appreciated ! All in all we have all said if we come back to the peaks we will definitely be staying here again!

Delight in coming back from a ramble and following the pretty path up to the pale green door, admiring the lovely front patio setup here with benches to sit out on.

Head straight into the sitting room, straight away giving off a homely aura with the warming woodburning stove set in the fireplace, you can relax here watching the Smart TV, finding a snug spot on the fabulous sofa and chairs.

Continue down to the end of the house where a boot room offers the best place to store any coats and shoes, next to a handy cloakroom too with a basin and WC.

On sunny days take some drinks and snacks outside, follow the path down past the back of the neighbouring houses and come to your own enclosed garden to delight in, with a good-sized lawn space and a patio with seating, it's the best way to end another memorable day.

When you're ready to retire, head upstairs to find your sleeping spot in the form of the lovely king-size bedroom, complete with a Smart TV ideal for lazy mornings in bed, and a stunning en-suite shower room too.

Another couple can take the second bedroom where a king-size bed rests, or if friends are sharing then request this zip/link bed to be made into a twin prior to your stay, with a Smart TV in here too.

Finally the glowing bathroom is where you can take a moment to relax, soak in the spacious tub or take a shower with the overhead shower, whatever suits you.

When you're ready to venture out, take a stroll around the charming village of Monyash, with the cottage opposite the pretty village pond along with a picturesque green too, the village is scattered with old limestone cottages and is actually a stop along the Limestone Way, while to the east is Lathkill Dale.

The village is home to a tearoom/restaurant and a pub, whilst the nearest shops are in the nearby village of Longnor, along with a takeaway and some more pubs, so you have plenty to choose from.

Known for its delicious sweet treat of the same name, Bakewell is a must-visit when in this area of the Peak District, perfectly positioned on the banks of the River Wye, you can visit on a Monday to see the bustling outdoor market, take a tour of The Old House Museum found in one of the oldest buildings in Bakewell to learn about the fascinating past of this charming town, and walkers can head to the nearby Monsal Trail for traffic-free walking, cycling or even horse riding.

A filming location for the Keira Knightly adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, Chatsworth House, is located just outside Bakewell, and offers a wondrous day out, marvelling at the magnificent architecture and grandeur of this stately home from the 1600s, as well as exploring the huge grounds and the Chatsworth House Labyrinth.
