Spingle Barn

Just about perfect!

Everywhere clean and tidy and plenty of equipment for cooking and playing games. We had 4 small children and the barn outside was great to keep them out of the sun (or rain, but we didn’t have any!) and for doing crafts etc. Good local walks and the playground and pub in the village meant we only used the cars once - to go to the ice cream shop down the road (but just watch out for the queues there!). Owners very responsive if you needed anything. Full marks!

This cottage had everything we needed and has clearly been very thoughtfully designed.

There is plenty of seating inside and out and we were able to enjoy the delightful garden whilst sipping our G&Ts. The owner Garry was able to help us when there was an issue with one of our pieces of equipment (nothing to do with Spingle Barn) and he was cheery and friendly. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of hangers !

Disappointed , stain on upstairs quilt in large bedroom.

Outside shelter floor unsafe. Cushions on settee smell. Coffee machine didn’t work ,hob needs instructions. Downstairs toilet seat very loose , Garden needs a tidy up. We have stopped in numerous holidays with you and this property is no way a gold standard 5 star , it needs to be reviewed. I spent £1500 for 3nights for my family , won’t be using you again please respond. Thanks

Very happy with our stay at Spingle Barn.

Ideal for a family get together. Loved the outside space with the various seating areas. Only niggle was the BBQ which hadn’t been cleaned by previous occupants and the state of the sheltered seating area outside. Just needed a good sweep.

Nice cottage, lots of outdoor seating options

We loved the place.

It was very warm and comfortable, and the garden space, with chairs and both shelter and a sunny corner, was really nice. Our only issue was the automatic lights and fan noise when using the en-suite loos. This was rather disturbing for the other occupant of the room! However, it is obviously useful and saves lights being left on, so certainly not a big issue!

Spingle Barn is superb!

We usually struggle to find a suitable property for our family group, but Spingle Barn ticked all the boxes, and more – a rare find! Four large, cosy bedrooms, two of them easily accessible on the ground floor, and all en-suite, with an extra downstairs shower room too. A fantastic living space, and excellently equipped kitchen, and all spotlessly clean and tidy. The Sonos speaker and Echo Show were added bonuses! The separate games room, with its own log burner, is a great space to relax and unwind, and the outdoor space (although we didn’t get to make much use of it in mid-March) is excellent. Spingle Barn is perfectly situated too – right at the head of Lathkill Dale, with plenty of great walks right from the doorstep, a fantastic pub and lovely coffee shop a 5 minute walk away in the village, and just a 10 minute drive into Bakewell. The owners were brilliant too, good communication and very accommodating. All in all, hugely recommended!

Accomodation and games room both very good.

TV downstairs - no signal sometimes, other times worked okay. Don't know if it was something we did or not. Could do with instructions on TV and hobs. Not unusual, most places seem to assume you know how to work these things. Otherwise everything good (well no vodafone mobile signal, but not cottage fault).

Wow, what a place.

From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed, such a welcoming feeling. The light was fading outside so all the outside & inside lights had a really welcoming glow. We were a family group of three generations, four little one, four not so little and two OAPs. Everything worked, was clean and easy. All the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Brilliant Choice on our part. Thank you .

Lovely rustic property in a great location.

Peaceful but close enough to local towns with a good local pub 2 mins walk. Well equipped kitchen and a good large dining table. On a sad note-water for the downstairs bathrooms was bordering on cold whereas the kitchen sink water was dangerously hot. Even the bathroom off the dining area shower was cutting out so unable to shower properly so had to share upstairs showers facilities. Games room tired and needs leaks mending. When leaving and stripping the beds, found a bad stain on the mattress cover which wasn’t pleasant. Overall a lovely stay though.

We were most impressed with the quality and standard of the accommodation including the layout of rooms, comfort and kitchen/dining facilities.

There were ten family members celebrating an 80th birthday and we could not have hoped for anything better. The house is set in beautiful countryside and we had several wonderful walks. On our arrival we would have liked some clearer directions to access the premises once in Monyash. The satnav indicated the wrong entrance which was briefly confusing. One of the en suite bathrooms on the ground floor was for disabled guests so there was no lock on the toilet and the shower was lukewarm.

Spingle Barn was absolutely perfect - warm, comfortable, great living space, great location.

I would highly recommend. I will never use Sykes Cottages again. Their ploy of advertising a £10 deposit is a deceitful strategy when actually it commits you to paying a very large deposit a couple of months later.

Beautiful place and location.

We stayed for a family weekend 6 adults and 4 children and can honestly say we loved everything about Spingle Barn. The rooms are all perfect and there is so much space. The garden space is lovely and we even managed to use it on October to sit and enjoy. The games room is a great addition. Everything you need has been thought of and we would definitely recommend a stay here. Only 10 mins in a car to Bakewell which is lovely.

We had a fabulous stay at Spingle Barn.

The house is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable with beautiful views over the rolling countryside. We had amazing weather for April and very much enjoyed spending time in the garden. The location is fantastic, based in the pretty village of Monyash with the fab pub and tea rooms and lots of lovely walks straight from the door. It was also an excellent base for exploring the glorious Peak District. The reason I have downgraded my review is because of the misleading photo of the accessible bathroom. There is no foldaway shower stool, though this is clearly shown in the photo. My dad walks with two sticks and needs to sit whilst he showers, so this bathroom was one of the reasons we picked Spingle Barn. It was very disappointing that the stool had been removed without us being informed and made things very difficult for my dad, adding unnecessary stress to what should've been a relaxing time for him. This photo should be removed and people with future bookings should be informed of the removal of the shower stool, in case they need it. However, if a shower stool isn't something you require, then I would definitely recommend Spingle Barn.

Wow.

Spingle Barn is great property, bigger than expected with all the bits and pieces you need for a great break away. There were 10 in our group (mixture of adults children and a dog), bedrooms are large and comfortable each with their own bathroom. Huge dining table and fab kitchen. Not forgetting the outside space, grassed area couple of seating areas and an undercover area as well. All in all a great property

Fabulous week away with family, home from home, very warm and comfy.

Enjoyed the games room with the woodburner, we played darts every night. Thank you Garry & Andrea for the food and wine, loved the sparkling Christmas lights around the property. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Our stay at Springle Barn was fabulous.

The property was great, warm, cosy and welcoming after arriving in heavy snow. Rooms and facilities were some of the best we have seen both inside and out. The location of property is great for visits to Asbourne, Chatsworth, Bakewell and Buxton and we will definitely use the property again in the future and would highly recommend

We stayed here for our wedding, the rooms are excellent with everything you could need, plenty of space, super comfy beds.

Overall a nice property and good stay.

A few very minor points that worth mentioning in case nobody has done so before. The list is a bit long but please be assured we enjoyed the stay. - the floor light in the sitting room does not work - tv Ariel cable broken so no TV and and hdmi cable would have been handy as a backup. - the table tennis net is broken one side and no obvious cover to snooker table to allow playing. - be handy to know the make of the coffee machine to arrive with some capsules, or provide them. The bathroom in the bedroom next to the sitting room smells slightly damp, very possibly a leak from the shower screen

What a wonderful place!

Monyash is a delightful village, the surrounding countryside is supreme and the barn was very well equipped and comfortable for the 4 couples and a dog that made up our family party.

A wonderful place to relax in and spend time with family.

Very well appointed living room and dining area, with an excellent kitchen and laundry too. En-suite bedrooms lovely. Also, high tech screens etc much appreciated. Very well situated near glorious walks and close to Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne for excellent shops. We hope to return soon!

Our family of 9 (8 adults and 1 child), plus 2 dogs, enjoyed a wonderful week at Spingle Barn.

So spacious. Lovely enclosed garden, perfect for the dogs. The property has been converted, fitted out and furnished to a high standard. It has everything we needed. The games room is an added bonus. Andrea responded to us very quickly when we had a minor wasp issue outside. Monyash is such a pretty village. The cottage is just a short stroll to the excellent village pub. The little cafe and store on the village green is also a great find. Lovely packed lunches to take on our many long walks in the surrounding countryside. Definitely recommend a stay at Spingle Barn.

A super place to stay for 8 adults.

Great to have all bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom. Lovely garden with plenty of seating. Well equipped kitchen and a huge dining table. So good to have a pub and coffee shop that we could walk to easily. Food and service was excellent. An absolutely super place and so near to lovely towns and villages.

Arrived to a bowl of fruit, biscuits, cakes and a bottle of wine from the owners which was a lovely touch.

Well equipped kitchen, great sized double bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. Food in the local pub was amazing, would recommend a visit, only a few minutes down the road. Nice outdoor area for bbqs and seating and would be absolutely fab if it had a hot tub. Walks directly from Monyash, so no need to drive and park somewhere. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely property!

Spacious, clean and an appealing farm steading feel to the house. We had four couples staying here with three young children and there was adequate space for all of us. Nice outdoor seating area and games room! Only other comment is that the bike shed could do with a lock. Otherwise, a delightful property!

We all enjoyed our stay at Spingle Barn very much.

The pictures online really do not do it justice. We couldn't have asked for anything better! There were a couple of minor things that I have mentioned privately to the owner ... we couldn't get the stairgate to work, it was too long to fit at the top of the stairs and too short to fit at the bottom. Then we had to give the hoover a thorough clean before we could use it.

This is our second time at Springle Barn.

We're a group of friends in our early 40s who every year try to get away to a country cottage/barn to have a good catch up, eat good food, play poker and enjoy a country walk taking in a couple of pubs. Single Barn is absolutely perfect, great environment to hang out, beautiful location and some lovely walks. When I was arranging our get together for Jan 2024 this year, all the group wanted to return to Spingle Barn, which is as good recommendation as you can get. Many Thanks once again

My comments are below: We really enjoyed our stay at Spingle Barn over the weekend. The cottage was fantastic and very comfortable. It is situated in a lovely part of the country. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cups, saucers and utensils. The beds were comfortable. The underfloor heating made the place more than sufficiently warm enough, particularly bearing in mind how cold it was outside, but the wood-burning stove certainly added to the warmth as well as the pleasure of seeing an open fire.

The house was beautiful, we enjoyed our stay together as a family.

Furniture & beds were plentiful & comfortable, If I was to be critical I would say various areas were quite "dirty" such under the beds,& tops of units. Some new Kitchen knives (sharp ones) or sharpen to old ones would be very good idea. The dishwasher did not work, but I was advised of that before arrival, and these things happen. Also the pool table needs some attention as is old & damaged, there were plenty of darts, but all seemed slightly damaged too. The games room was a key factor in our choice of home to stay in. The owner was very helpful, especially with the provision of logs for the fire.

We have recently stayed in this cottage and had a lovely break away with the family celebrating a special birthday.

We could not fault anything. It is an amazing cottage with everythIng you need for a few days away. Clean, and comfortable with lovely spacious rooms, and nice to all have their own bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed to prepare meals, in fact we ate in and enjoyed chatting around the large farmhouse table. It was a lovely surprise the flowers and fruit too, thank you. The cottage was lovely and warm with the underfloor heating, and a nice games room for the family to play pool, table tennis and darts on the evenings, and when returning back from days out. Really enjoyed it and would definitely book again. Just a shame the weather was not the best, but it didn’t spoil anything, as the facilities were put to good use. Many thanks. We had a lovely stay at Spingle Barn.

Great property and beautiful location. Facilities were great, the only small issue was that the bed was only pushed together to make a double, so found that there was a gap between the mattress that kept falling into during the night, everything else was great!! Beautiful gardens and Outlook. Have already recommended, as its ideal for large family or group gatherings.

Very happy with this accomodation.

We were 3 couples and two young children, so the 4 bedrooms was perfect for us. The children's room was made up as 2 singles as requested. Thankyou. We put the children and their parents on the ground floor, so they had their own self contained wing of the building. It would have been good to see a floor plan with the details, so that this could have been planned easier. Instead I had to scrutinse the details to deduce the layout. Anyway, it worked really well. One minor point was there was nowhere to put our shoes, so we had a pile of shoes by the door. If a better solution can be found, it would be good. Another minor point was the extra adjustable chair in the living room didn't really fit. The space would look better without it I think. We reported that the first aid kit needed refilling, and the owner promised to fix this, so not really an issue. We were lucky with the weather, so appreciated and enjoyed the outside spaces with the children and just for adults later in the evening. We didn't use the games room, as the weather was so good, but it could do with a tidy I think.. And finally, the location is great. Proximity to pub, cafe, and playground, plus walking straight into Lathkilldae was great, and short drives to lots of lovely Peak District places made it a great holiday. Overall an excellent stay.

We were five adults & two children under 10 and the accommodation suited us very well.

The weather was beautiful and we were able to fully enjoy the beautiful outside space with its many sitting/ eating areas. The menfolk appreciated the games room, all in all, we had a lovely family weekend celebrating Grannie’s birthday.

The property, ambience& location is beautiful.

Thoughtful touches were much appreciated. The photos don’t do it justice, I think they could be improved to the owners advantage. I was disappointed with cleanliness of specific areas, & some of the facilities, I will share this separately with the owner. On the plus side the kitchen is well stocked with crockery/utensils/pots/pans etc. The dining room table is a great size & the lounge seating is very comfortable. Bed linen & towels plentiful & the heating very effective. Sadly due to the weather we didn’t utilise the outside seating but I can imagine it being very pleasant in warmer times. Large parking area & secure outside area for dogs. For our party of 5 adults, an infant & 2 dogs it worked very well.

We had an absolutely brilliant time here.

We book a large cottage last weekend of every January for a get together and poker weekend, with a nice walk and pubs thrown into the mix. Spingle Barn was the perfect accommodation. The pictures don't do this place justice. Great communal space and games room, very comfy beds. Excellent facilities. In an area of outstandingly beauty.

Everything we needed and more

What a welcoming, comfortable place to stay and just perfect for our family gathering.

We were not disappointed. It was so well equipped and extremely homely. The outdoor area would be such a great place to hang out in warmer months. The added single beds were a real bonus as most of our group were single so it made the sleeping arrangements much easier to sort out. We would definitely recommend this barn accommodation and hope that one day we can return.

great holiday location and property with really good facilities

This was our second stay, prompted by each bedroom having it’s own ensuite facilities and plenty of seating in the dining and sitting areas.

There is spacious parking and we’ll kept gardens at the front of the property. Monyash is well placed for walking adventures but also only a short drive to Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth and so on, not forgetting a short walk to the pub! Spingle Barn is a well maintained and comfortable property for a family or friends group and the owners welcome pack was well received by us all.

Pretty garden and secure for children.

We were a party of 7 adults one toddler and a dog and the property was large enough to easily accommodate us all.

The house was clean and tidy and the kitchen had all of the kit we needed. Beds were comfortable. There were a number of supermarkets within 20 minutes drive and a very good pub a couple of minutes walk away. We enjoyed our stay and recommend Spingle Barn.

The games toom was very popular and the enclosed garden a bonus for our 2 dogs. Parking was great for our 4 cars and local pub was great being in walking distance and super to have the kiddies park with alpacas just over the wsll. Holiday Property did not contain any emergency information, ie.

nearest Dr., dentist, A&E, petrol station, shop, etc. Owners of property did not contact us at all during our stay

Keys were not there when we arrived tired and owner was a bit curt on the phone but quickly sorted it out.

Property lacked an airer which would have been helpful for drying clothes but otherwise the utility/ games room was great. The cottage was fantastic for all our family and we had a wonderful time. We appreciated the fruit bowl and muffins on arrival too.

A fish slice is required and a garlic press!

The accommodation is ideal for large groups as the bedrooms have plenty space to give privacy whilst the communal areas are great for you to get together.

Outdoor areas can be used even if it rains and the games room is a bonus. It’s an ideal location for exploring the Peak District or just walking from the house.

This was one of the nicest properties we've ever stayed in with comfortable bedrooms, all with en-suite, lovely living/dining room and every kitchen dish and implement you could wish for.

And all set in a great village with a pub and walks right from the house.

4 couples had a fabulous weekend in Spingle Barn, everything we need we had, would definitely return and the welcome pack that greeted us was most appreciated, the cake was beautiful!

Owners made a real effort to make it Christmassy and welcoming for our stay with extra little touches left for us like mince pies and wine. Would highly recommend.

Amazing little gem everything was perfect for our stay friends get together

I was really happy with the web site and booking process with Sykes Holiday Cottages.

After setting up my account I was prompted every step of the way. The property was a joy and great for large groups. The property was spacious and modern but this did not detract from the authentic barn atmosphere. Although we didn't meet the owner until the end of our stay, we were delighted to receive the home made cake, fruit bowl, wine and milk in the property. The property was a delight and I think the owners had thought of everything to make sure you had a comfortable stay. We had much fun using 'Alexa.' The property was in a great location for discovering the surrounding area. There was only one negative. The bathroom extractor fans started up everytime you walked into the bathroom and did not turn off for 5 mins. Whilst I appreciate the importance of these, it would be great to be able to turn them off at night. Despite this, we would be really happy to return, particularly as the owner promises there will soon be a games room.

great base location to visit Peak District

Spingle Barn is well located and appointed for families and friends (including dogs who liked being able to stretch their legs in reasonably enclosed garden).

We have stayed in numerous cottages that sleep 6 or more, but none (like SB) that allow a group of adults all the facilities and room they need for a really comfortable stay whatever the weather. Having adequate cutlery, crockery, cookware and glasses for a large group (with dishwasher and appropriately sized fridge and freezer) is simple, but something so many facilities forget. SB had more than provided for these. Local pub friendly with good food and takes dogs in public bar. Good walks on your doorstep and lovely towns nearby. We were all very happy and comfortable in the barn and in lovely area.

The location was great, but that was the only positive.

Definitely not a 5 tick property as Sykes advertise. I found the living area to be on the small size for 8 adults and a 3 and 1 year old, and it’s not suitable for toddlers. We had to clean the kitchen (mouldy lettuce found in the cupboard, cobwebs on the walls, grease behind the hob) and hoover the rug in the living area. The automatic lights in the bathrooms were rather annoying - stayed on for 5 minutes after leaving so not the best for night time convenience, this kept waking my little boy up as he was sharing a room with us. We also couldn’t cook our full Christmas dinner as the oven was rubbish and only had two shelves, not what you would expect for a rental of this size. We have been on many self catering holidays, and were very disappointed with this one, particularly with the cleanliness and the price we paid for it.

A stunning property in a fantastic location.

. We arrived to and were met straight away. Inside they had kindly left flowers, chocolates, mince pies and milk. The barn was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Wonderful accommodation.

We were greeted with fresh flowers ,home baked sponge cake and a fruit bowl full of fresh fruit. Everything was immaculately clean. We contacted the owner about a small problem, this was immediately resolved.

Spingle Barn is a gem of a holiday home , offering every comfort and being very roomy, accommodating 6 adults, 2 toddlers and 1 infant.

The quality of furnishings and equipment in the barn were of exceptional quality and we really appreciated the nice gesture of the "Easter Welcome Pack" and the beautiful flower displays. Despite snow and rain we ventured out every day and then returned to a warm log fire and a very comfortable holiday home. Monyash is a lovely village with a very welcoming public house, a lovely cafe, a play park and lots of areas to explore with links to its history. It is well placed for visits to Chatsworth, beautiful Bakewell, Matlock Bath, to name a few, and to venture on a variety of walks across the breath-taking countryside. We certainly enjoyed our week at Spingle Barn and hope to return there again. It was the perfect place for my family to meet up and celebrate three birthdays and Easter.

Luxury barn like home from home. And Andrea left us wine and provisions when we got there which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend and would like to return someday.

Spingle barn was everything we wanted and more.
