  • "We were a family group of 7 adults and 5 children and have stayed at several large properties over the years."

This was definitely one of the best houses we have stayed at as plenty of space, lots of different options for sleeping arrangements and a beautiful property in a great location. We didn't get to use the outdoor space much due to the weather but there is also great outdoor seating and a BBQ for the better weather. There is a also a great downstairs sound system and disco lights in the living room so the kids enjoyed having their own parties. The games room was another bonus and an enormous room giving lots of extra space. Such an amazing place and we definitely plan to return at some point. Thank you for a great stay :)

  • "Owner was great, met me on time and showed me round the property, talked me through the sound system which is connected to the wifi so no loss of sound when moving between rooms."

Beer and wine in the fridge which was a nice touch and the place was nice and warm on arrival, the owner fitted a stair gate for us as we had small children with us. The house is surrounded by fields and was very quiet which was perfect. The main problem with the property was the cleanliness of the property, the ovens where dirty, so once switched on it created a fair amount of smoke which set off the smoke alarms waking the small children in the party. Freezer and fridge had left over bits of food in them . Under the sofas (which to be fair are pretty low to the ground so wont get a weekly clean) but found 3 full chicken nuggets under them. (one of the babys toys and gone under it) windows in sitting room where dirty and hadnt been washed in a while. A few little maintenance issues, the door handle on the back door came off due to the screw holes being too big for the screws. water came through the ceiling at one point due to the upstairs shower being on. Shower in main bathroom was missing an o ring which meant the water shot back down the tube and very little came out of the shower head. the temp lock on the shower was broken, so the water could very easily be turned to scalding, If you looking for a place to just use as a base and explore the area, its great, huge rooms, great sized kitchen and sitting room, with plenty of bathrooms with the added benefit of a massive games room, however we spent a fair part of our stay in the property and the few little areas that needed improvement started to bother us.

Ideal place for large groups very well equipped with all amenities including a fantastic games room only downside is the isolation or this could be a plus side for some it's very hard to get taxis around the area so if your going out at night to sample Ripley book early but the farm itself can't be faulted

Anyone should be able to make everyone happy as the options are brilliant. Games room a real bonus which we all enjoyed, especially the adults. We did have issues with showers though so some had to shower in other rooms as pressure was really poor. Some pans in the kitchen really need replacing, we tried hard to clean them but past there best. Not a lot to see locally so drove to Matlock which was really nice. Would we stay again? Not sure

Kitchen is very well equipped and a great size, only 1 item missing was a hand whisk . Games room was a big hit also the size of the garden for 3 dogs . Great views all around. Overall a great house, will definitely be returning.

  • "We last stayed at this property almost 5 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves."

On arrival we were met by the owner and received a warm welcome. It was much as we remember from our previous visit and that is some of the problem. Keeping a large property maintained must be a headache, however a lot of basic maintenance is waiting to be done. Windows either side of the front door have cracks, some of the showers are poor and both the back door and games room doors are in desperate need of repair. One of our party suffered from an allergy to dust so we gave many of the surfaces an extra hoover. On moving the lounge settees we were of the opinion it was many months, if not longer since they had been moved. However as with our previous visit we had a great time, the house is ideal for large parties and hopefully when our next major anniversary/ birthday comes round in 5 years we will be able to use it again.

Although the house needs a bit of tlc it was very welcoming and Nick (the owner) showed us around and left us some beers and wine that were consumed with pleasure - thank you Nick. Our family gathering felt very comfortable in every room of the house and although we only stayed for a few nights we all agreed we would return to the same house especially if the water pressure in the showers was sorted

The house flows wonderfully ,kitchen great huge 2 dishwashers 2 ovens unbelievable well equipped. Most the bedrooms at on suites and very large. The sports hall was lovely. The garden and parking are great. To try to be objective I guess the sports hall equipment could do with an upgrade, one shower wasn’t very good, but we have been to a few of these types of properties and this was one of the best. I asked a few questions that were answered straight away. I fully recommend this house to anyone

All of the bathrooms could do with a deep clean though. The door in the living room leading out onto the patio has a big crack at the bottom and was hard to open. We didn’t want to break it so didn’t use it. One of the showers wouldn’t turn cooler (from scalding hot) so couldn’t be used. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would recommend people stay here.

The first impressions of the house were disappointing, a little TLC to the exterior would make a great difference. However once inside they'd put a lot of thought into the place. Children were accommodated with stair gates, cots, high chairs etc, the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and kitchen essentials, the toaster takes a long time to toast though. The beds were smaller than advertised and we had to use a sofa bed downstairs to make everyone comfortable. Good location for a quiet break but no local pubs as had been advertised which was a shame.

The house was very clean and comfortable. It was also lovely and warm. The disco lights and sonas system was perfect. New Year's Eve was celebrated in the living room with it's perfect dance floor. Already talking about going back in the summertime. The kitchen was well equiped with more than enough utensils for 14 people. Two toasters, kettles, dishwashers and large fridges. Nick was great really welcoming and helpful. We found a lovely pub that served home cooked food at very reasonable prices in Ripley. Recommend The Peartree especially their pies. ! In the middle of nowhere so we could make LOTS and I do mean LOTS and LOTS of noise without disturbing anyone, the games room was absolutely brilliant. Rooms were huge and extremely clean. My only criticism and it is very very minor, even on the verge of nit picking, was we would if found it more convenient to have a toilet and a fridge in the games room, as I say this is no hardship as it means going to the massive fridge and using one of the many toilet facilities in the property over the course of the evening !! There were 10 adults, 6 children, 2 infants and 3 dogs. The bedrooms were huge and each had a hairdryer, each bedroom was modern, en-suite (apart from 2 which shared a bathroom) and most had a TV apart from the 2 without en-suites. There is also a communal shower room downstairs. There is so much space we could all be together but did not feel like we were on top of each other. The games room (not attached to the house) kept us entertained for hours and the garden was big enough to tire the dogs out for those who didn't like walking in wet weather. It will be ideal in summer as it has an undercover heated seating area, bbq and a table that seats everyone together. There are board games for all ages and a PS3. The facilities are amazing with a big double oven and hob, 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers and a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The TV in the main living area has Netflix for guests. The house is along a short track and there are walks in the area but we drove to Matlock Bath, Markeaton Park and Carsington Reservoir. It was difficult to choose a bedroom as they were all so nice. Finding USB points throughout the rooms was a real bonus as was the sound system. Everything that we needed was supplied, even my usual supply of additional toilet paper returned home with me because it was already there. A number of our party and the dogs took advantage of the various walks available in this pastoral setting and we all enjoyed watching the farmer check on his sheep and cows in the surrounding fields. The games room was better than expected as there was comfy seating for the onlookers as tournaments were held. The garden was completely enclosed which was great for the dogs and would be great for children as well. There are lots of things to do and see in the area and, even though my group were mostly senior citizens, we all enjoyed destinations which included a cable car ride, tram rides and a boat trip on a canal as well as the usual stately homes. The family holiday usually includes children and grandchildren and my search includes a hot tub or a swimming pool for them. I am glad they were not with us this time as we would have missed out on this truly memorable venue which I would highly recommend.

The house is amazing! General and living areas are ample space wise and the kitchen dining area is more than adequately equipped with everything you can imagine. Lovely touch having dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and washing liquid etc. provided. Amazing sound system and TV in sitting room. Wi-Fi reception was a bit iffy upstairs but fine on lower floor. All bedrooms clean and well presented. Comfy beds and lovely en suite bathrooms. Fabulous views from every aspect. We were a bit puzzled on the presentation of the bedrooms on the website, but a discussion with owner Nick before we arrived ensured that all bedrooms were made up as required to cater for the party. All my friends and family expressed how comfortable the rooms were. Garden and outside space fabulous and we even got the weather to use it in March!! Games room is a great space. All in all we spent an extremely enjoyable, relaxing week. None of us wanted to leave and I'm looking forward in going back in the summer when one of my friends has it booked for a further week. A great place and would highly recommend it to anyone!!

We were very impressed by the room proportions and the fact that the downstairs bathroom is accessible - two of our party use walking frames. That said, there appears to be a problem with the shower in that bathroom, which struggled to reach the right temperature, which probably needs to be addressed by the owner. It may also have been helpful to have more photographs of the bedroom configurations ahead of going to help to pre-allocate rooms. However, overall the facilities were excellent with something to suit everybody - we even had a 79 year old playing table tennis! There was an ample supply of crockery, glasses and cutlery - something we have sometimes found to be lacking in rentals. It was also very welcoming to find that the owner had stocked the fridge with beer and wine - a very nice touch! I would have no hesitation in recommending this to others or returning there myself for a similar occasion.

Strelley Court Farm exceeded all of our expectations, driving up to the house we were all amazed at the size of the property, and when you walk in - just WOW!! There were 16 adults, an infant and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space, all the bedrooms were comfy and clean and had plenty of space. The living room was perfect for a big group of us and the sofa was so comfy, the room even had disco lights and a sound system - perfect opportunity to party! The kitchen was beautiful and well equipped, and the dining area was perfect for a big group. An added bonus was the games room - alot of us spent our time competing against each other - not that we are competitive or anything! The owner was brilliant; from the build up of our time away to the actual day, in which he gave us a tour and went in to great detail when we arrived :) - really lovely man. Would definitely reccommend Stelley Court Farm and we hope to return soon!

The kitchen was extremely well equipped with sharp knives, something of a rarity in rental properties, and an abundance of matching tableware. The adults appreciated the beer and wine in the fridge. Most of the bedrooms were enormous with 4 ensuite shower rooms. Lovely bedding with plenty of towels. There was a large bathroom (with large bath and separate shower) used by other 2 bedrooms. The only extra thing we would have found helpful would have been a floor plan of the house to use when deciding which were the most suitable rooms in which to have extra beds made up. Some of the extra single beds were the truckle type at floor level and probably best suited for children. We didn't find the sofa bed downstairs very comfortable to sleep on, but the children loved playing games on the enormous TV in that room. Great sound system provided downstairs. The kitchen had plenty of equipment with thoughtful provision of 2 dishwashers, 2 kettles, 2 toasters and 2 ovens which we found really useful. We hope to be back again soon.

The website did not do justice to what we saw when we got there. The accommodation was spot on but as we were 5 couples and there were only 4 en-suite rooms that was a bit difficult at first as the bedroom that was not en-suite had no wardrobe, but the fun we were having made it fade away. On the whole we had a great and fulfilling time and were comfortable. The fully equipped kitchen and dinning section was well appreciated. I would suggest an additional microwave. In addition the sound systems made it even more joyous. The Barbeque set should be cleaned and ready for use, as we had to clean that. We would return again but it would be nice if the bedroom that was not en-suite and did not have a wardrobe be looked into. Thanks to Nick and Lynn for being pleasant at all times and responding promptly.
