Lovely place, with views to die for.

Walks were just outside the house. The house had everything we needed, especially WiFi; that was great inside and out, in the garden.

We loved the accommodation and garden,and its positlon looking over the hills .

As the other reviewers say, the photos don't do it justice. The view right out the door/window is breathtaking, and there are paths into the hills right behind the cottage. We stayed with two small kids and they loved it too. We would love to come again.

Absolutely lovely house, bigger than you would expect from the photos.

Lovely views from the house and garden and a great location for walking with a walking trail that passes the back of the house and goes out into the beautiful countryside. Very friendly neighbours and owners of the property too. We will be back.

Pleasant welcome from owner next door, who was completely unobtrusive during our stay.

Clean, spacious, well-appointed and comfortable cottage, well lit by windows showing great views over Edale. Cottage is nestled in a hollow with a lovely well-kept garden with attractive flowers, herbs and shrubs and plentiful outdoor seating. Chickens roaming about. Really enjoyed our stay. Footpaths immediately behind cottage. You can hear the train line, but that must go for everywhere in Edale.

This property was everything we wanted.

Spacious, spotlessly clean, well furnished with comfortable bed and oodles of storage space. Sitting outside with the glorious view of Mam Tor just perfect. Outside garden had various levels. Communication top notch. Any queries were answered straight away. Friendly owners. Fantastic walking area right on the doorstep. Whaley Bridge for supermarket shopping, and a fantastic breakdown garage (should you need one as we did!) shops and pubs and cafes in Hope. A really enjoyable relaxing break.

Lovely hosts and quiet property situated up a little track off of road, in stunning area with views and walks straight from the door.

Scenic walk from rear of property to Edale village. Loved the friendly, curious hen!. The supply of a serving tray would be helpful, as the dishwasher and fridge freezer are located in a separate utility room off of the kitchen.

We had an amazing trip at The Stables, the property was clean and well maintained.

The bedrooms were set up in communication with the owners and they were so helpful as we were travelling with a toddler. The property had the basics you need on arrival such as soap, tea towels, kitchen roll etc. The location is great and you can access lots of walks easily around you. The owners were friendly and welcoming. We had an amazing trip, thank you and would definitely return in the future.

Fantastic rural location for walking and mountain biking- can literally start many trails from the back door.

Cottage is peaceful and spacious (photos don't do it justice) with well equiped kitchen, lovely outdoor space and amazing views. Owner (on site) is helpful and friendly.

Stayed at The Stables for a week early April 2025.

Cottage is immaculate and spacious, everything is provided its like Home from Home. Walks to local pub, Mam Tor and Kinder Scout from the door step. The Owners Amanda and Craig are lovely, nothing was too much trouble. This was our second visit to The Stables and we will definitely be back again. Great place to stay – superb views across the valley with places to sit and eat outside in the summer.

Really spacious with a living room, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen is very well-appointed with all the pots and pans, glasses, crockery and cutlery you can imagine, and a superb hob and ovens perfect for cooking Christmas dinner. Footpaths go straight from the house to Edale village and towards Hope. We did some great circular walks – over Lose Hill and over Rowland Cote Moor in the other. Wholeheartedly recommended!

Staying at The Stables was a joy.

Clear and welcoming instructions for check in, especially welcome as I was delayed; great space and layout, with a comfy bed; really well equipped kitchen, everything works well; easy access to the station that serves Sheffield and Manchester, both of which I had to visit; really warm and helpful hosts who go the extra mile; gorgeous surroundings with lots to see and do, eat and drink plus a new fan club of chickens, always pleased to see you! I will definitely be returning!

Cottage was lovely, very clean and spacious, everything was provided that you could possibly need. Area was great, right next to walking / biking trails, good access to Kinder and Mam tor, easy walk to pub and shop in Edale across the field paths Owners Mandy and Craig are friendly and helpful. Thank you for a nice break.

We have just returned home from a fabulous stay at The Stables.

We were greeted by the owner as we arrived. She is a very pleasant lady along with her chickens who were very friendly. She took us into the accommodation and explained a few basic things and information about the area then left us to it. We found it to be immaculate in every aspect and very spacious especially for the two of us. There are spectacular views from the property especially the kitchen. Plenty of walks from the doorstep and a delightful garden to sit in. We would definitely return to this property and were sad to leave it

Good facilities, very clean, very nice attention to detail from the owners. Kitchen was very well equipped too. Awesome spot if you like outdoor activities and great views from your window.

We had a fantastic stay at The Stables.

The location is stunning, with incredible walks and scenery right in the doorstep. The house is spacious, clean and well equipped and perfect for a a family of four or Group. The Stables has everything you need and more. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, with a large, new range cooker and brand new pans, utensils and plenty of crockery. The shower was powerful and hot. A perfect base to explore the surrounding peaks and valleys.

An excellent holiday location - very comfortable, well equipped, beautiful views The only slight challenge was finding the place - we wondered if a temporary sign could be placed outside the turning off the road coming from Edale on arrival days?

Wouldn't hesitate to book again

A lovely spot, beautifully maintained, as described but as others have said, the photos don't do it justice.

Private garden space with furniture for the sunny days, and to watch the wildlife passing by, and, inside, a big, open, comfortable downstairs kitchen/dining/living space for cooler, wetter times. Friendly owners next door, who left us to it but were available should we have needed them, and very friendly chickens who were a delight! And the moors on our doorstep so we barely used the car all week.

As another reviewer has said, the photos on the website do not do this cottage justice.

It is spotless, large, warm and very comfortable. There is great water pressure so a post-walk shower is definitely invigorating! I liked the selection of local maps books which accompanied other books, games and DVDs. There was no mobile signal for us, but the wifi was spot on and the cottage has it's own landline phone. The owners live next door and were friendly and helpful. We loved seeing the chickens wandering around the grounds and started to name them. The views from the cottage are amazing and there is no sound apart from bird song. Public footpaths from the cottage boundary take you to Edale centre in one direction, and to Ladybower reservoir in the other. I recommend the ridge walk from Mam Tor to Lose Hill where you will be able to see the cottage. There were instructions for the appliances and a list of emergency telephone numbers, but we were surprised not to see a welcome guide (or did we miss it?), like other places we have visited have, with a few local recommendations and guidance for things like recycling. We loved our stay at the Old Stables and anticipate we will return to do all the things we couldn't fit in to this trip.

We spent a wonderful week at the end of February at the cottage.

It was extremely well equipped, comfortable, spacious and warm. The location is perfect for long or short hikes from the door step. Thank you to our host for the added little touch which was most appreciated.

This is an amazing place to stay. Waking up to the views of hills with residual snow(January stay) was beautiful. The owner were very respectful of our privacy but very welcoming at the same time.wr definitely plan to visit again.

Great weeks stay at The Stables.

Property better than described and very child friendly. The bridleway and footpath at the back of the property was great for walking/running. Amanda left us to it but was on hand with quick replies to anything we needed to ask. Would definitely recommend and return. Ben

The Stables had everything we needed and so much more!

It was in a fantastic location, quiet, peaceful and a wonderful place to return to each day. With so many walks nearby we were never short of things to do. The owners were friendly and helpful and the cakes, milk, tea and coffee were a welcome provision. Loved getting to know the chickens and being greeted by them each day! We hope to be back very soon. This was a great place for us cyclists, a bridle way behind the property and a secure storage area for the bikes.

With a huge kitchen and plenty of space to relax after a days cycling, will definitely be back.

The stables had more than everything we needed, very good.

Perfect location for our stay.

It is a bit out of the village but that's what we wanted. Easy to drive past especially in the dark but we found it no problem. Maybe a new sign and/or light at the gate would be useful. Cottage was beautiful and bigger than we were expecting. Very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed; properly furnished with all appliances & a really comfy bed! Liked the fact it wasn't too cluttered. Owner was lovely and really helpful. Very impressed and would definitely come again.

Really nice property, perfect location especially for walkers or cyclists, furnished to a very good standard, very spacious, killer views, very handy shed to store mucky bikes in.

This is a superb property in an idyllic location with access to numerous great hikes direct from the door.

It is maintained and cleaned to the highest of standards and contains all of the facilities and utensils etc you could possibly need. Everything has been carefully thought of. It is very spacious, very well decorated and appointed and benefits from its own private garden with ample seating. The owners are friendly too! We recommend this property 100%.

Our family had a fantastic time at the Stables Cottage.

It was a great place to stay with our 2 kids (3 years and 6 months) and use a base to explore the area. Amanda and her husband were very friendly and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the lemon cake they left for us! The cottage, the garden and the views are so beautiful and we miss it there already (particularly our 3 year old!). Thank you for having us!

We had a wonderful, relaxing short break at the Stables.

Nestled in the Edale hills, The Stables was welcoming, warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. With walks from the bottom of the drive and Edale only a stroll away. The owner was great and left cake and drink supplies, which were a lovely treat. We left feeling rested and refreshed. Thank-you.

A spacious and comfortable barn looking right across the great ridge.

Fabulous and beautiful location with walks from the door in all directions. Lovely owner who left us to it but on hand if needed. Lovely garden with seating and views. Birds everywhere - including a Kestrel that visited daily. Very clean and a helpful large fridge freezer for a family. Tesco deliver which really helped, but need help finding the place so leave instructions on the food order as little to none mobile signal. WiFi works well which was needed for a days work. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again in better weather - 2 storms and persistent rain but it didn’t stop us.

We had a lovely break, the accommodation was lovely as was the hospitality in a great location.

One of the best family holidays we've had, we really didn't want to come home!

The Stables is in the most wonderful setting with fabulous views all around, walks in the hills from the doorstep and a lovely sun trap of a garden to sit in and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Amanda and Craig were perfect hosts, welcoming and on hand if needed, but you'd hardly know they were there otherwise. There's everything you could need in the cottage, which was spotless and much lovelier than the photos convey. The beds in particular were so comfortable and the singles were large singles. We had the most amazing week and really didn't want to leave. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind!

The area is outstanding with walks right on the doorstep, the cottage was very clean with comfortable beds, fresh eggs, milk and a cake were left by Amanda.

The view from the cottage was lovely, it looked like a model railway ran through the valley. I would highly recommend the cottage.

Super owners, obliging and informative when asked questions

This cottage has the most amazingly beautiful views!

The landlady lives next door and is lovely. There are hens and ducks roaming around which adds to the rural idyll. Milk, locally baked cake, tea and instant coffee were a welcome provision. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped but the single toilet would be a challenge if it was occupied to full capacity. There is a large lounge downstairs which feels rather empty - perhaps moving the corner sofa forward so it is closer to the stove and the television would make this feel more cosy. The shower is one of these ones which runs from the bath taps with a converter switch. It is temperamental. The two main areas for improvement are adding a second toilet downstairs and adding a separate shower which is not connected to the bath taps. Some cushions for the dining table chairs would also be welcome. There are lovely walks directly from the cottage which make this a fantastic location.

The cottage was really wonderful and had everything you could need( everything you would have at home) The beds were so comfortable with lovely bedding and towels.

We had a brilliant time exploring the area as a family of five we came with many things however really didn’t need most of it as so well equipt, plus the couple who own it (next door) were quick help when a query arose and so kind to send back the things I’d left in a draw! ( always one!) Honestly can’t recommend it highly enough.

The cottage was well equipped, spacious, clean and exceeded our expectations. We really felt at home! Great location with walks and cycle paths on the doorstep. It was particularly nice to chill in the garden after a day of walking and admire the beautiful view! Thank you for a great stay and making us feel welcome. We would definitely recommend!

Fantastic property with amazing views.

Great to be able to do walks straight from the house. Comfortable, spacious, well equipped, warm and very clean. Friendly and helpful owners too.

We had a lovely time and the cottage was even better than expected/conveyed by pictures.

We especially liked the useful utility room for our coats and shoes, the responsive and powerful central heating throughout the rooms, the ducks and chickens waddling around the front garden, and the salad boxes outside the front door.

I loved the location of this property - great for walks from the door, and lots of places to visit by car within a few miles.

Also there are good train links from nearby. The property itself was lovely - very spacious and looked newly decorated. It really had everything we could of needed. The only thing I could have done with was a broom for the kitchen floor, for a quick sweep up at night rather than get out the hoover - which did not seem to work on the hard floor. But somehow I managed to live without this!! I would love to return for a further visit.

Beautiful cottage, modern, clean, superbly kitted out & everything you'd need provided.

Beautiful location in Edale valley, just 15 mins drive to Hope & Castleton where there's a small Spar shop which stocks anything you forget/ need. Lovely & helpful owners live on site with their very cute free range chickens & ducks. Cottage comes with a lovely garden, much bigger than photos suggest. HIGHLY recommend if you're after a rural, quiet location.

Wonderful stay at The Stables in a quiet idyllic part of the Peak District.

Amanda and Craig were excellent hosts and ensured we had everything we required.The Stables boasts a terrific view of Lose Hill and the valley towards Edale and it was great to sit out in the garden in the evening. The property was spacious and easily accommodated five people and we appreciated the locked store room for our bikes. We had fun watching the resident ducks and chickens and enjoyed helping Amanda corral some rogue sheep which had invaded the garden.!

Fabulous week in a beautiful setting.

The cottage exceeded our expectations in every way being immaculately clean, more spacious than it appeared in the photos and really well equipped (everything seemed new and good quality). Walks from the front door and unobtrusive hosts in the adjoining cottage. Would recommend and return!

Being a frequent holiday-cottage user I feel well-qualified to judge properties and this has to be one of the best I have ever had.

It suited our needs perfectly, the spacious ground floor is great and the kitchen spectacular! The cooker is especially perfect in every way, enabling me on one of the days, for extra family guests, to cook for 8 with ease. Having a family-sized fridge/freezer gives security for a few days self-sufficiency and with the quality washing machine and full-size dishwasher it really is home from home. The owner had gone to a lot of trouble in having Christmas decorations indoors and outside which we so appreciated. The location is ideal for our love of walking without needing to drive far at all. The Stables will certainly be considered for future stays in the High Peak area.

The scenery was amazing, lots of walks and cycle paths from your doorstep, there was so much to do and places to see we loved every minute.
