Thank you this was a great spot for a multi generational holiday - very well equipped and a beautiful village.

This was an ideal house for our large family gathering.

It exceeded expectations in terms of facilities and quality, and all our dealings with Bronwen were helpful and timely.

Cleverly arranged to accommodate 11 people. Our grandson (6) thought it was a maze. He delighted in showing people to their rooms where they could retreat for some privacy if they wanted it two sitting rooms upstairs and down and we could come together or spread around. the courtyard was lovely in the warm weather.

Within easy distance of many great days out. It's not easy keeping a group of older ladies happy but this house achieved that. Thanks.

The Old Shop is a lovely quirky property for a large group.

It is very welcoming and cosy, the beds are very comfortable and the seating areas gracious. The kitchen is very well equipped with a great table for seating 10 adults. We really liked Parwich. It was a perfect location for our visit to the Peak District. We would highly recommend it for a short stay.

We all loved this property - it met the needs of everyone from baby to grandad.

The open plan ground floor was the perfect space for chatting, playing and cooking. We especially liked the very well equipped kitchen that had plenty of crockery and utensils. Having a separate sitting room upstairs was a bonus - it meant we had a quiet space ( theoretically). The location was great too, plenty of walks, streams and near to places of interest. We have already booked a return visit!

Fabulous , spacious property renovated and maintained to a high standard.

The village is lovely and the locals are very friendly. Suited our family of seven adults and three toddlers perfectly.

Really lovely cottage and nice village.

We had a great time. However we were really let down by the lack of basic necessities. Mainly the toilet roll and bin bags which were in very limited amounts. When we were staying over Christmas we couldn’t just go to the shops to buy more plus you really shouldn’t have to buy toilet roll when paying thousands of pounds to stay somewhere. In the end the host did give me a code for the cleaning cupboard to get some more but their initial response was that they only aim to supply a welcome pack. Also they do not provide recycling because they do not want to pay the council for commercial recycling. This is very disappointing. Overall it just feels like they’re pinching every possible penny of profit out your stay here!!

The property was perfect for our multigenerational holiday (2yrs-75yrs).

The beds were super comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The grandchildren loved the games room. The wet room was definately designed by someone who knows what a disabled person needs, rails, space, shower chair, non sloppy floor.

The Old Shop is extremely well appointed and well equipped .

It easily accommodates larger groups and was a great base for our family and friends We had a happy stay there. We also appreciated that it is very well situated for trips out in the Peak District . We also enjoyed walks from the cottage and enjoyed the local pub, which is welcoming and serves very good food.

Games room was a great asset for the teenagers and more mature alike! Lovely village with surrounding walking. Good food in the village pub. The owner was very helpful and informative. Would recommend.

The house is lovely and its great to have two separate sitting areas as well as a games room. The village is beautiful and has walks going out of it in all directions. Highly recommended.

Great venue for mixed generations from 90 down to 13.

Games room worked a great, thank to the host for providing the extra amenities for a downstairs chair for the shower and a TV, they went over and above. Very much appreciated. In addition communications prior to the stay were excellent and truthful.

The Old Shop is a surprisingly spacious, extremely comfortable and very well appointed cottage in a lovely village.

It makes the perfect base for a family holiday in the White Peak.

What a beautiful house in a beautiful village! The house itself is so nicely decorated and feels so homely, and the surroundings are so tranquil and you aren't far from all the main sights of the Peak district. Perfect place for a holiday we will absolutely be back! :)

Plenty of social space and beds the most comfy we’ve ever had. The village is idyllic which gives a warm welcome , it’s like stepping back in time and perfect for peace and quiet .

Spacious ground floor living area for social gathering and social dinners, games room an added bonus. Upstairs another spacious shug living room with very large TV and open fire. It was a beautiful home with plenty of room for us all, set in a gorgeous location!! Bronwyn was super helpful in replying to queries, and giving us tips for things to do in the area etc. we really enjoyed our stay, thank you so much!

Fantastic property for a large gathering.

2 sitting rooms (one on each floor) which was handy when someone wanted to watch the rugby! Had everything we needed including an extra fridge. Everything was spotless and the owner was friendly and helpful on the phone. Great location with plenty of local walks from the doorstep. Fabulous local pub - The Sycamore Inn. It was perfect for the 10 of us and we had everything we needed.

Our stay at the old shop was lovely, spacious yet cosy, our whole group without exception would like to return as they fell a little in love with Parwich!

Well equipped, tasteful, comfortable furniture including the beds and very clean. We had a 60th birthday celebration weekend including a delicious meal ( need to book, very popular) at the homely and very pretty Sycamore Inn in the village, also thoroughly recommend afternoon tea at Wildhive Callow Hall. 10/10.

This is a beautiful cottage, plenty of room for us 8 ladies, with room to spare The owner is lovely.

When we had a little problem with the lights in the downstairs bedroom, she sorted it within 10 minutes. Now that’s good service The downstairs lounge had plenty of room for us all and the upstairs lounge was super cosy with the wood burner lit (fuel was provided ) The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The outside area is small, but enough for us The local pub is very friendly and does superb meals Altogether a most enjoyable experience

A very comfortable home from home in a beautiful village setting.

This was our second stay in the property and we hope to stay again in the future to continue our exploration of the area.

A wonderful property.

Suited our family perfectly. Clean and comfortable with extras we didn't expect. The owner thought of everything right down to supplying hand soap in each bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped and a great entertaining space. Games room was a huge bonus with teenagers in our party. The lovely owner was so helpful and kind when I rang for the key details. We had a small issue that was sorted by the maintenance team the same day we reported it. This property is perfect for a family gathering across the generations, we could always find a quiet space to relax.

Great property, stunning location and very welcoming locals.

Everything is provided for a relaxing stay and the only minor quibbles were a lack of drying racks in the en suites for the towels and no cover on the skylight in the main bedroom; if you like waking up with the dawn, no problem but I need as much beauty sleep as possible.

It is lovely, clean, well equipped accommodation, the village is charming and well placed for various locations.

We had a lovely stay at the old shop .

It was clean and warm in the cold weather . The address needs to be changed to ‘ The Old Shop ‘ Google apparently takes you somewhere 30 miles away if you just type ‘The Shop’ even overriding the correct postcode ! Full marks also to the Sycamore local pub for food and drink . Parwich is also a lovely village . Great stay . Great location

This was our second stay at the Shop and again it was really good.

House is well stocked for cooking and entertaining and the games room is really good. Local area and the pub & legion are very friendly. Lots to do in the area, just a pity the races were rained off on New Year’s Eve, maybe next year!

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Shop.

It was everything that we had hoped for and more. The layout with a sitting room attached to the kitchen and dining area allowed us to mingle easily and the upstairs room became our quiet area. The games room was great for a bit of friendly competition. Everything worked so well - the kitchen is really well equiped - coped easily with xmas dinner for 9. The place was spotlessly clean, with calm and relaxed decor and lovely and warm. It felt like home from the moment we walked in. The bedrooms are comfortable and cosy. The central heating is zoned and easy to use. As we were having an early Christmas the addition of a beautifully decorated fresh tree was really appreciated. The village and the local area are beautiful with lots of options for walks of all levels. The owner was great at communicating and really helpful in advance of arrival. We are a family of 3 generations and The Old Shop is easily the best house we have rented for our family gathering; we hope to return.

We enjoyed our stay, and the children enjoyed the hiding places.

The games room was well used. We could have used a floor plan, so we could have allocated rooms before arriving. Also, just a small radio, for us non tech people.

Brilliant week's stay, for 3 generations of family.

The house was just as we hoped from the description, the location was ideal with lots to do in the area and a lovely peaceful village to unwind in. Highlights included walking at Dovedale, the playground and farmyard at Chatsworth House, kayaking at Carsington Water and the Sycamore inn for dinner (twice!)

A couple of things.

The lock on the upstairs shared bathroom would be improved by a proper bolt; also a non-slip mat for the bath. The kitchen was overall very well equipped, but the steamer is really inadequate for a large group. A bigger one with an extra layer would facilitate vegetable cooking much more quickly. Otherwise - excellent!

What a wonderful cottage located in the most beautiful village.

We spent the bank holiday weekend at the Old Shop celebrating a friends 50th birthday. It was incredibly comfortable - I suffer with a bad back and actually travel with a thick mattress topper which I didn’t have to use as the beds were all so well padded and perfect for a good nights sleep. Great facilities with more than enough kitchen equipment including two fridges to keep the fizz cold! The owner was very helpful and messaged me about the heating upstairs during our stay to check we were warm enough. The weather was also wonderful - we went paddle boarding on Carsington water and got sun burnt. The local pub was also welcoming although we ate at the Royal Oak which was about 20 mins away and offered more veggie options. Everyone in the group said they would recommend the Old Shop and we would all go back for a return visit!

We were a party of nine and there was plenty of space for everyone. Parking outside for 3 cars. Within walking distance of a friendly pub with good food, plus a small shop selling basics. The games room was great fun as we had lots of rainy days! No issues whatsoever but to make it even better a couple more smaller saucepans would be useful and a short pool cue please!

Amazing property in a gorgeous village and it provided the perfect base for me and my retreat guests.

Safe and secure. The views, birds and stars were amazing. Thank you for the welcome pack with local goodies being a special touch. Lots of space to spread out in comfort for larger groups. Excellent communication with the owner and all else. Would come back again!

The ‘Old Shop’ is a real gem.

The Old Shop is fantastic for larger groups as it is very spacious and has plenty of space to chill out and relax. All of the fixtures and fittings were high quality. All the rooms were very well appointed. The games room was a real bonus and kept 4 teens and 4 adults busy each evening. The property is well situated for walks in the surrounding area. The local pub The Sycamore Inn was excellent and very close by.

Been about 7 times now and always enjoy the holiday.

What a fantastic house for a holiday in Derbyshire!

The house is beautifully furnished and well equipped with everything you might need. There is plenty of space, the beds are very comfortable and there is unlimited hot water and a very efficient heating system. Bronwen, the owner, was extremely helpful and quick to respond when we had a query. We hope to return next year.

The shop felt like home as soon as we entered it was warm, clean, and inviting.

Beds were comfy with crisp white linen and showers good. The set up worked well with the open plan family room and with two bedrooms being each end of the sitting room upstairs. Overall, great location and we would love to return to explore some more.

We stayed as 3 families over new year and the property is ideal for family holidays.

The kids and adults loved the games room, the split upstairs living area is great for the kids to spend time in whilst parents are downstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped and a decent amount of fridge space with the larder. The pub is really nice and great food at a decent price, along with drinks that aren’t too pricey. We did the walk to Tissington along with the tearooms, went to waterworld at Stoke which was good and a great day at Uttoxeter races. Would definitely return, as it would be nice to see the area in summer. Bronwen is very respond to questions and issues that may arise.

This was the perfect place to stay as a family group celebrating my Dad’s 80th birthday.

Parwich is a delightful village. The property was lovely even nicer than the photos suggest. It was perfect having 2 lounges as it gave us space and the games room was a bonus. The kitchen area was spacious and we were all able to sit comfortably around the table for our meals. It was warm, cosy and comfortable and Bronwen the owner was so helpful too. Would def consider staying again and will certainly recommend it to friends.

We love the house, the pub and the village. The house is presented with great taste and is regularly updated. Enjoy having the 2 social areas and the games room makes it weatherproof.

The house was very clean and the facilities for our family of eleven were excellent. Our five grandchildren aged 6 to 16 all enjoyed the games room. The walking in the area is very good. Meals at the Sycamore Inn were excellent. Youngest grandchildren enjoyed the park. Warm welcome at the British Legion. Definitely visit the Old Shop again. This is our fourth year in the Old Shop.

It works for us at every level. It is comfortable, large enough, always spotlessly clean and well presented and has everything we need. It is also in Parwich, which has to be one of the best villages in Derbyshire.

Had a lovely stay, a very warm cozy clean property with everything we needed, plenty of space for us all, 5 adults and 5 children.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Old Shop.

The house was warm and welcoming the moment we stepped in the front door. There was plenty of space for our family to spread out if needed but also great spaces to gather together for family meals and cozy evenings. The internet speed was excellent which was important with two of us juggling work from home. Parwich is the perfect spot to feel like you have escaped the madness of the city yet close enough to Ashbourne and Bakewell for all your major needs. The local walks are breathtaking and the locals are so very kind and welcoming. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

Well equipped in the kitchen which was great. More than enough space and with multiple living rooms, it's nice for a large group to have the option to split off and engage in separate activities. Local pub just a short walk away was a nice bonus! Would definitely stay again.

The accommodation is first class and there was plenty of room for 9 adults and 3 toddlers. Parwich is a beautiful village and a great base to explore the Peak District from. We would definitely stay at the Old Shop again.

Would have liked another tv downstairs so we could catch up with the news over breakfast and also a bigger bbq for us larger families and the patio furniture has seen better days!

Lovely village pub 2 minutes away. Great area, lovely walks, Chatsworth, Alton Towers etc. Ages ranged from 16 to 81 & we all had a great time.

The property was lovely and due to its space and layout easily accommodated 10 family members. The games room was a very big hit with our younger members. Would definitely return.

The cottage and the village were lovely and having a really good pub 2 minutes up the road was a bonus.

The owner was very helpful with everything and very sympathetic about us only being allowed 6 people in a house that should have had 11. This was obviously no ones fault and didn’t hamper our stay in beautiful Parwich, we would definitely like to go back and have all our family with us next time. My only negative comment would be that getting hold of anyone at Sykes usually meant a 30 minute hold on the phone and then not really getting any sort of answer, I appreciate these are difficult times but when I rang the sales line I seemed to to get through straight away and then got transferred for my 30 minute wait.

Our stay at The Old Shop was everything we hoped for.

The house was comfortable, well equipped, spacious and set in a beautiful village. The house its self is nicely layed out with two stting areas for time when the grown ups need a break from the youth (or vice versa :-). The games room was fun and courtyard was very peaceful to sit in and enjoy an evening drink. All in all a very pleasent holiday.

The cottage was lovely with lots of room for two families.

The spacious kitchen has a table perfect for board games and the lounge upstairs was great for relaxing. Lots of beautiful countryside for walks to Tissington etc. Given the weather was less than friendly, the pool table and darts board was a definite bonus!

This is a really comfortable and warm house in an ideal location for our family, who are spread around the country, to get together.

It was clean, very well equipped and in a pretty village with a good pub nearby. This is our second visit to Parwich and won't be the last.

We had a wonderful family Christmas in this beautiful house.

There was 11 of us in total, 3 of whom were 5 and under and we found the layout and facilities of the house ideal. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked most days including Christmas lunch and found everything we needed and plenty of space in the large oven and two fridges. The open plan kitchen/ dining/ living space downstairs is a great social area, with the large table easily accommodating us all. The separate upstairs living room is super cozy with the wood-burner and is perfect for quiet moments or watching films. The village was delightful and everyone very friendly, we enjoyed plenty of walks in and around the village, several delicious lunches in the pub and a 'pop up' Nativity on Christmas Eve in the church. All in all a perfect Christmas break. Thank you, we hope to return.

Extremely well equipped and a lovely welcome pack. As others have remarked it would be good to have a TV in the kitchen/lounge. The games room was well used.

A great house for a family gathering with facilities for different generations to be together in a lovely area .

Super welcoming village, excellent Sunday roast at pub , made to feel welcome at village bonfire . Lovely walks from door ,and many places of interest within about half hour drive . We parked 4cars ( 3 right next to property ) and one just a VERY short walk away . Clear parking instructions given by friendly owner beforehand . Everyone in our family group commented on the relaxing ,spacious house and no one really wanted to leave ! Our visit was in winter and the property was warm and cosy . The games room ( lovely and warm too ! ) was an added bonus . Thank you to the owner Bronwen for really caring about the guests and their needs . ( Great welcoming biccies and beverages .) She even leaves a book for people to suggest any improvements or minor issues needing attention . She/ the management team are contactable for any major issues needing immediate attention . We had none ! We would all go back there !

Lovely cottage, cleanliness excellent, location perfect.

There was an issue with one of the ovens which the owner had advised us of prior to arrival. Unfortunately the owner was unable to get the part fitted prior to our arrival but it did not affect our holiday. The games room at the cottage was a bonus for the children but the weather was so good during our stay that it was used only occasionally. I would recommend this cottage for a large family group.

Great location in lovely village setting, house layout allows separate / break out spaces, which is nice.

Games room was a bonus for all ages to use. Suggest put a TV in the ground floor open plan room, personally we rarely used top lounge as too close to bedrooms where young children slept to have TV on in evening. On saying that property layout is excellent for socialising and we loved the general feel of the house.

What a fantastic house!

I wanted a holiday with all of my family, to spend quality time together and this house was just perfect. From the lovely big kitchen dinner where we all sat for our meals, to the large on-suite bedrooms, everything was like home from home, comfy, clean and everything you need all under one roof.

Stayed at the Old Shop, Parwich, for a family wedding in June, fabulous house everything you could ask for and more.

Games room a real plus, our teenagers, loved it! Great having down stairs bathroom and bedroom, perfect for my elderly parents, all this in a beautiful village. The local pub, The Sycamore was also excellent. Wonderful weekend.

Bronwen left a delicious cake for our arrival. A delightful village with great walks. The flowers and birdsong were soothing to the soul, not forgetting the tinkling of the bells on the goats nearby.

The house was really clean, well equipped and beautifully presented. There were lots of little extras such as condiments, tea coffee, milk and cleaning products as well as a lovely homemade cake on arrival (in my experience not all houses have these). All our party loved their time here and we hope to return one day. Highly recommended.

The house was well designed, tastefully furbished and very comfortable. The games room was a big bonus and useful back up for inclement weather. Parwich village is an idyllic location topped with a very friendly local pub. We enjoyed walks from the doorstep. Mrs Jones was very welcoming and informative.

The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, with lots of extra touches making it feel special.

The village of Parwich is wonderful, great walking from the doorstep, and the village pub does good food and beer. There is a shop in the pub, although we have never used it, it is good to know it is available for any items you forget. The most special thing for us this weekend was the wonderful sight of a murmuration of starlings right over the cottage each evening. I have long wanted to see this and it was the icing on the cake of a fabulous weekend. The owner is extremely welcoming and helpful - she left us a delicious victoria sponge cake which went down very well when we arrived.

The thoughtful welcoming goodies were enjoyed by all. There was plenty of space for all generations of our family to have their own space or be together. The location was perfect. We could walk to the pub and play area in Parwich, to Tissington and it’s cafe. Most places we wanted to visit were within 20/30 mins drive. We all had a great time.

Without question The Old Shop in Parwich is the best cottage we have ever stayed in.

It quite simply met all our requirements. We had 10 in our party ranging from 10 months to 70, with four separate family groups. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

There is a pub just a couple of minutes walk away, which has a shop in it, they also do very good food (and are dog friendly!). The village is very pretty, and is only about 15 - 20 minutes drive from Ashbourne. Lots of wonderful walks from the doorstep, as long as you like hills! The locals we saw were also very friendly, and the owner helpful and welcoming, even leaving a very tasty lemon drizzle cake. The downstairs kitchen/diner/snug was well equipped and comfortable, and the first floor lounge cozy and welcoming. We definitely hope to return next year and would recommend it for a group or family holiday.

The cottage was better thn we expected and more spacious.

It would have been helpful to have had a plan of the room layout in this instance.

The Village Shop in Parwich is a delightful property, well furnished and extremely comfortable.

The little extra touches from the owner were much appreciated ie a home-made cake, milk, tea bags, etc.

The property was of an exceptional standard, it was beautiful, pretty well laid out and had everything we needed and more besides.

The owner was lovely when I spoke to her to arrange to collect the key and upon arrival we found milk in the fridge and a lovely cake to enjoy. Many thanks! :-)

Wonderful cottage in a superb location.

The property is well equiped, exceptionally comfortable and a real gem of a find. With a big homemade cake waiting on arrival - what more could you ask for!

The pictures of the cottage do not do it justice , its far nicer than it appears .

Well thought out , well equipped , the ideal place to take a family and be able to stay in one place all together . Just one moan Wifi was very hit and miss , and none of us could get wifi on our lap tops .

There is loads of space and everything you need . It was immaculate and very quirky in that it's a bit of a maze that kids will love. Hope we get chance to return.
