“The cottage itself was comfortable and cosy and had everything we needed.”

A great base for exploring the surrounding area. Our hosts Keith and Thelma were lovely and welcoming and the area itself was stunning.

A great base for exploring the surrounding area. Our hosts Keith and Thelma were lovely and welcoming and the area itself was stunning. In regards to the booking itself through sykes it is very easy to do but unfortunately due to covid we had to move our holiday from June to September. I was quite disappointed that we were not offered a refund and only to postpone the holiday instead. All in all we had a lovely holiday and would definitely visit again.

About the location

Ashbourne 7 miles; Leek 7 miles; Alton Towers 5 miles.

The village of Waterhouses lies between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne on the southern fringes of the Peak National Park. The village was once the terminus of the Manifold Valley Light Railway - now the scenic Manifold Cycle Track, which winds its way through the picturesque valleys of the Rivers Hamps and Manifold. The track is flat and traffic free for cyclists, walkers and horse-riders. Waterhouses offers a selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. The famous Alton Towers Theme Park is only a short drive away.
