  • "We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage."

    It truly was a home away from home & we had everything we needed for our break. The only thing we needed was our toiletries & we bought some washing pods to freshen up the towels they provided over the week & wash some clothes before we went home. There was even a litre of milk in the fridge & some gooey chocolate cookies to enjoy with the tea, coffee & sugar they provided for guests! Every utensil or dish you needed was there too! You'll be amazed at how thoughtful they have been. Joan & David are lovely. Very friendly & approachable. Their lovely dogs amused us all week, especially Dottie who appeared at our gate for a pet & the occasional sneaky biscuit (with Joan's permission) most days once she knew I was smitten by her lol. Our wee dog loved watching them from the enclosed patio & it was great to know she was safe to wander there. The garden area wasn't secure for her but we wouldn't have let her run loose anyway, she is stubborn & has selective hearing! She settled well within a few days & loved her holiday. They supplied bowls, biscuits & a blanket for her to use & 2 pink blankets on the couch to help protect it. There was absolutely no signs of a dog ever being there. No smells, very clean. She slept in her own bed at night and wasn’t allowed on the bed as requested. The area is beautiful & there are many walks & signs for them immediately outside the farm gates. My husband went a walk round the reservoir, he said it was beautiful. I can’t walk far or on uneven ground so he went alone & took some lovely photos. The views from the cottage are incredible, you can see right across Chesterfield, the owners have supplied binoculars so you can see right across the valley. Watch out for the bendy church steeple. There are guides & maps in the drawer under the TV & games & cards too. We went 1st May & the weather was quite cool but the sun shone 5/7 days and we had the bifold doors open at some point most days to soak up the sunshine. My husband spent many hours in the hot tub, it was clean, hot and very relaxing. We used the inside shower to wash before we went in but there is one on the deck to use. I think we would brave it in summer, spring was a little too chilly lol. We visited Matlock Bath for a chippy tea & had a late morning stroll round Bakewell, but we mostly rested & forgot about work, responsibilities & watched lots of TV. It was bliss & just what we needed. I would recommend the cottage to anyone. Don’t wait, just book.

  • "We had a lovely stay at High view."

    Hot tub was hot, clean and well maintained. Property had excellent views and location was perfect for our needs. Owners friendly and willing to correct any little faults that arose. Only issue we had was with the access road having work carried out all week by Seven Trent causing mud and access issues on 3 days. Overall a lovely, peaceful break in a well maintained property.

  • "Our stay at Highview Stables was nothing short of exactly what we needed."

    Everything was readily available, clean and comfortable. Our dog made friends with the owners dog and every morning she went out onto the decking looking for her! Jean was friendly, approachable and professional in every aspect. Beautiful walks right on the doorstep and a short drive from the accommodation. We even had to next day delivery something we had forgotten which she delivered to our door after arriving. Could not fault and would definitely consider staying again in the future!

  • "Wonderful! Would highly recommend."

    We had such a fabulous time. The cottage was beautiful, it had everything you could want, was lovely and cosy and had fabulous views. There were gorgeous walks from the cottage if you didn’t want to use your car. We took our dog for long walks along the reservoirs. The hosts were great and were available if you needed anything ( not that we did!!). A perfect break away. Thank you.

  • "We had a lovey 3 night stay at Highview stables."

    Hosts were very welcoming and available if we needed anything. Property was beautifully decorated and had everything you need. Hot tub is a fantastic way to end the day. Recommend The Robin Hood pub for food, just a short journey in the car

  • "We had a wonderful week staying at Highview Stables."

    The property is well laid out, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and even had an air fryer! The hot tub was lovely and the views of the sprawling Derbyshire countryside added to the relaxation of the hot tub and outside decking area. This is also the view from the living room out of the patio doors so you got to enjoy it whether inside or out. The property is very dog friendly and our little pug was made welcome with some treats left for her. There are blankets to put over the sofa so your pooch can join you for a cuddle which was lovely as a lot of dog friendly listings say not to let pets on furniture. She wasn't allowed on the bed but that's fine as she isn't allowed on the bed at home either!! Our daughter (12), assures us the sofa bed was comfortable to sleep on too. It was very easy to turn from sofa to bed too. The owners were very friendly and their numbers are on hand in the property should we have needed them at all.

    We loved our stay. It had everything we could have hoped for. The property was spotless and set in a beautiful location. The views were breathtaking, and relaxing in the hot tub under the night sky was a real highlight. Both the bed and the sofa bed were extremely comfortable, and we were even greeted by the owners’ adorable, friendly dog upon arrival. Nothing better than being greeted with a wagging tail!

  • "Wow just wow!"

    We could have sat on the terrace and looked at that view forever. There was everything there we could have asked for it .It was clean and comfortable.The owner was extremely helpful giving us ideas for walks and only let her dogs out when our very reactive dog was inside . The hot tub was an added bonus . It’s definitely one we would book again

Matlock 10 miles; Chatsworth 10 miles; Bakewell 13 miles.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th Century church with "Crooked Spire", twisting curiously from its true centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Nearby, the Elizabethan Hardwick Hall is still impressive today, with its 6 grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular is the semi-ruined 17th Century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District. Chesterfield has a host of other attractions within easy reach, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the amenities of Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera at Buxton.
