  • "This property was in a great location for accessing Ironbridge."

It was a good size. And the patio area was a good space to eat although it is right next to the road. On arrival it was quite disappointing the property on the outside looked tired and unloved with all the paint peeling off the window frames. Our first night begin with cleaning the bathrooms because they were not clean. The twin room was really disappointing, there was a ripped valance sheet, and seeing previous reviews this has been the case for a while. The socket in the twin room was hanging off the wall, very dangerous. The sheets were dirty so we had to wash them before anyone could sleep in them. The stairs are quite dangerous they needs to be a small rail at the top to stop you falling when you step out of the main bedroom. The dining room was so dark even with the singular light we could not use the area so sat outside to eat. It also had a musty smell. There was a broken shelf in the wonky fridge, this is also dangerous. The TV needs a booster we could not watch TV as the signal was terrible. There is WIFI though. We vacuumed a lot, there was so much dog hair it was like it hadn't been vacuumed for months. This did not help my sons or my Asthma. There were no recycling facilities. Generally it was an ok base for location but the property is tired, needs a deep clean and a good update.

  • "The property is tired and dirty."

It needs a full overhaul to get this property up to standard. The kitchen is completely filthy dirty. We could not use the toaster as so so dirty or the oven. The baking tray was stuck solid to the dirty cupboard with grease. The fridge is broken and dirty. The rugs on the floor are old and filthy. Crumbs under everything which means sides were not cleaned. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. Plug sockets hanging off wall, the light switches and all plug sockets are grimey, not cleaned for years. BBQ outside is completely useless and dirty and rusty. Outside of the house is tired and needs painting. I have tried to complain to Sykes but 3 emails and 2 messages have been ignored. The property is awful and should not be let especially at the price it's asking. Definitely will not be returning as felt uncomfortable. Bed sheet on the bottom also was not changed as had a body shaped left in it. Bedding in twin room was all ripped. Wardrobe broken so couldn't use but also smelt musty.

IRONBRIDGE

Telford 6 miles; Bridgnorth 8.5 miles; Shrewsbury 15 miles.

Ironbridge Gorge is known throughout the world as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Today the area is far from industrial and nature has reclaimed most of the former industrial sites, leaving a unique and beautiful wooded valley. The gorge is a now a maze of footpaths, bridleways and country lanes whilst the delightful village is famous for being home of the world's first iron-built bridge, built between 1777-79. The village has a splendid variety of pubs, restaurants, shops and tea rooms and a collection of ten industrial and Victorian themed museums makes up the Ironbridge Museums Trust, including the exciting Blists Hill Victorian Village. Within driving distance are the popular historical towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Ludlow, as well as the Wroxeter Roman City, the Severn valley Railway, the RAF Cosford Museum and many National Trust properties. Ironbridge is a wonderful base from which to explore the beautiful county of Shropshire.
