The Wood Shed, Bank Top Farm

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful little cottage.

It was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The surroundings were peaceful, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the countryside the sunset each evening was stunning! Karl was welcoming, friendly, and always available if we needed anything, while still giving us complete privacy. We really appreciated the little touches that made the stay feel extra special. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. Perfect place to visit the Peak District. We visited Lud’s Church and Dimming's dale. The only slight downside for us was the hot tub. It was clean and well maintained, but we found it a little small for us, so it wasn't quite as spacious as we had expected.

My wife and I booked the Woodshed for our first break without the kids.

It was so quiet and relaxing, just what we needed, it was like a dream at times. The combination of the hot tub and view of the sunset was a highlight. The facilities were excellent, everything we could possibly need. The furniture and mattress were of excellent quality and very comfortable. The location was great, so many lovely walks near by or a short drive away. If you are after a quiet relaxing escape from it all, I fully recommend this place.

The property was absolutely fantastic.

Couldn’t rate it higher. Karl met us on arrival and left us a nice bottle of prosecco after showing us around. Hot tub was perfect for two people.

We booked The Wood Shed as we were planning a trip to Alton Towers for Scarefest.

After a long journey from the north, we arrived and were greeted by Karl who was very welcoming and gave us a quick tour of the accommodation and instructions on how to use the hot tub etc. There was a bottle of prosecco on ice waiting for us and some fresh flowers which were a nice touch. The property was very clean and had great amenities for self-catering, which we made use of each day of the visit. We took lunch with us everyday to the theme park and then cooked when back at the property. The shower was brilliant, very powerful but also had the option to switch the water to a rainfall. We made use of the hot tub a couple of times and really enjoyed it. We were even treated to some clear skies so had the chance to do some star-gazing at night. In terms of it's location, it was ideal for our trip... out in the countryside, so very peaceful, but also only about 15 minutes drive from Alton Towers, so not too far to travel after a long day. Although we didn't have much time to spend in the local area, it looks like there is plenty to explore, so if we come back to the area again we would definitely choose The Wood Shed.

This is a beautiful little holiday home, the beds were so comfortable and the TV was modern and so easy to use.

We had everything we needed to cook and clean with. The location is great and was easy for us to find yet so peaceful. To top it off the hot tub was clean and easy to use. The owner of the property was kind and welcoming and we felt we could message at any point if we needed to. Thank you! Would come again

We have had a lovely stay.

Karl was very welcoming. The kitchen was really well equipped. The bed massive and very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. The real gem was the decking area, with gas bbq, hot tub and seating area over looking a beautiful view. We would highly recommend this lovely little place.

Really lovely property!

Everything is a great quality and laid out well. The hot tub and outside view were really enjoyable. The bed (and the pillows!) were very comfortable.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at The Wood Shed—from the ease of locating the property (thanks to the clear instructions in the user manual) to the warm welcome we received from our host, Karl.

The cottage is set in a peaceful location with incredible views (I’ll be sure to post pictures/videos to Google Reviews, since I can’t do it here!). It was incredibly clean, cosy, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. Karl made us feel reassured that we could reach out to him at any time for advice or more information during our stay. When we arrived, we mentioned to Karl that the property and views looked even better than in the photos—and he said that’s something many guests have told him! Although we were initially unsure about the size of the hot tub from the pictures, we found it to be the perfect size for two average-sized adults. The gas BBQ grill was easy to use—especially after a kind demonstration from Karl—and it was such a pleasure to enjoy a freshly cooked BBQ while watching the luminescent sky and taking in the views after a long day of hiking. This was such a needed break from the fast-paced nature of city life. A real joy, and a place I’ll definitely be recommending to friends and family!

My wife and I received such a warm welcome from Karl, who had thoughtfully prepared a chilled bottle of bubbly and pre-heated the hot tub, an absolute treat after a long journey!

The Wood Shed is a fantastic base for exploring the Peak District. It’s very comfortable and beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the view from the deck is simply stunning. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing stay.

Everything very clean, neat and the bed was very comfortable! The decking with the hot tub was great and the view also. Very private.Definitely recommend staying here.

A lovely holiday cottage with all the amenities you could need for a short break.

Cottage was warm, clean and very cozy and the hot tub was simply perfect. Karl was the perfect host greeting us on arrival and showing us the ropes of the cottage and its quirks. Only improvement I would recommend is to add a small shelf in the shower cubical to put toiletries on.

Absolutely stunning property.

Everything you need is provided. As someone from a town, the views from the terrace are unbelievable. Lucky to have really nice weather so made use of the bbq. Thanks again Karl for all your assistance. Would definitely recommend this property 100%.

Karl has an immaculate understanding of the client experience and that is evident from top to bottom. The Wood Shed is a modern, sleek building with everything you need and more. We really enjoyed the small touches which included cleaning products and a full range of cutlery. Karl takes the time to personally introduce himself and show you around, meaning that you feel comfortable communicating with him and have an understanding of everything that the property offers. Wow, what an amazing short break we have had here.

We stayed 2 nights in the woodshed and it was perfect. We where greeted and shown around by Karl (what a top gent) which was a lovely touch. There was a lovely bottle of prosecco on ice on arrival and milk in the fridge and they are really nice touches to have. The Woodshed has everything you need for a relaxing getaway and we can't fault any of it. We will definitely return.

Beautiful Lodge in beautiful surroundings.

Lovely to have the hot tub after a day exploring and the added novelty of Netflix which we don't have at home. Lovely touch with the prosseco in an ice bucket when we walked in and tea coffee and milk supplied. The only reason I have given 4 stars and not 5 is that we have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels and always been supplied with toiletries and I think for the money that we paid which equated to £200 a night a shower gel/body lotion and shampoo would have been the icing on the cake. Also the curtain fittings (tieback fittings) in the living room were loose with the screws coming out of the wall. All in all to sit in a hot tub over looking open fields was wonderful and I would throughly recommend the Woodshed and we will at some point be returning.

We both had a very relaxing stay at The Wood Shed.

The owners have thought of everything that you would need. The location is very central to many sites and attractions in Derbyshire. The hot tub especially was brilliant and the place was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great, and the TV's in both the lounge and bedroom were an added bonus. The place even has a dishwasher, with dishwasher tablets provided. We would higher recommend The Wood Shed and can't wait to return.

The accomodation is compact but has everything you could possibly need. the king sized bed is very comfortable and the accomodation spotlessly clean. Very comprehensive information is provided by the hosts on the use of all appliances, walks, places to visit & eat in the area. The location was very peaceful and the added bonus of the hot tub was a lovely treat after a full days walking. The hosts are very friendly & helpful if needed, we had a small issue with the operation of the hot tub but a quick message to Karl and Helen responded right away and the issue was resolved. A very enjoyable short stay, would highly recommend.

I particularly loved the little touches that made us feel special- the huge bed with plump pillows, the complementary Prosecco and the super clean hot tub and deck area. Everything was very high spec and nothing was too much trouble.

Beautiful cottage, we were so impressed from the moment we walked in.

There was even a bottle of cold prosecco waiting for us! Facilities were brilliant, fully stocked kitchen and BBQ which we made great use of. Karl was really welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely love to come back to The Wood Shed.

A perfect base for a day trip to Alton towers and exploring dovedale and Bakewell. We loved relaxing in the hot tub after our busy days out and a very comfy massive bed as well!

As a last minute booking we felt like we’d struck gold!

The Wood Shed is just stunning and is stylishly furnished with everything you could need for a wonderful holiday. It is perfectly situated at the base of the Peak District with so much to see and do nearby. Karl is the most helpful host and a lovely guy, he is clearly proud of what he has created and justifiably so. We saw Red Kites in the skies above and to our delight a Woodpecker and an abundance of Blue (and other) tits on the bird feeders we took with us. The views from the cottage are amazing. Just try it and see! We will be back! This was a It was a last minute decision to go away "on retreat" on boxing day as a reset.

This was literally the perfect property. Beautifully maintained and immaculate throughout. The highlight was meditation in the hot tub under the stars every night. Karl was the perfect host, I highly recommended this property... I'll definitely be back!

Me and my boyfriend have had the best time at The Wood Shed.

It's the perfect little retreat for a couple. Karl was really lovely and he met us when we arrived and showed us around the cottage, we were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco and fresh flowers. The cottage is decorated lovely and very clean. It has everything you need such as the well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and smart TV's. The guide book has lots of good information in it about the local area, we actually only live 20 minutes away from the cottage but it felt like we were miles from home as it was so peaceful being out in the countryside. The hot tub was also a super nice treat. We had a lovely relaxing stay and would love to come back to recharge the batteries again! Thank you Karl, Helen and Pip, we highly recommend

We had a lovely weekend stay at the Woodshed.

Karl was a fantastic host, and has clearly put a lot of time and thought into the cottage, with special touches and very detailed local information which was super helpful. The cottage itself was one of the best kitted out I've stayed in, particularly if you are going to be cooking, which we did! A few perfect evenings of bbq, sipping wine in the hot tub and gazing at the stars was just what we needed - would highly recommend a visit if you're coming to the area. Thanks Karl!

The property and surrounding area are absolutely lovely!

There’s plenty to do, and if you want to relax the jacuzzi and view is stunning. The kitchen is well-equipped if you want to make dinner rather than dine out. Karl was an amazing host, very attentive and friendly. We would absolutely come back :)

This cottage is worthy of the 5 stars .

On our arrival we were met by Karl and and received a wonderful warm welcome and the chilled bottle and flowers were very much appreciated as we had booked for my wife's birthday.Karl was able to recommend a superb place for a meal and had a wonderful evening there. The highlight being the ride in the back of the 2CV with the roof back ! Next time I bring mine . The place is faultless, spotlessly clean and in a superb location overlooking the countryside to the hills. There is parking space and its easy to find with full directions .It's a perfect place to explore the area or just chill out. I have no doubts in recomending this place, I just hope that we will be able to book it when we want to return as it will no doubt be a popular cottage very soon

An absolutely wonderful property with so many nice touches - it is very clear that Karl and family take pride in their offering.

The prosecco on arrival was a nice thought and gratefully received, whilst the property itself has comfortable furniture, a really nice sized bed, a great shower etc and the hot tub just tops it all off. We found it to be a good location for the exploring we wanted to do and an enticing base to return to (the hot tub again) for evenings. The welcome pack was incredibly useful and we ate at two of the food places recommended and second both of them! Highly recommend a stay here and our thanks to Karl and family for such a lovely break.

We stayed in the Wood Shed for three nights over the weekend.

The views are fantastic and the area is amazing, there's so much to do. Karl was an amazing host, super accommodating and very friendly! The hot tub has to be the best part by far, the sunsets and sunrises in the hot tub are fantastic. Our only gripe was a stain behind the toilet but other than that we would really recommend! Thanks for having us Karl.

Karl ensured that everything was as it should be, the fresh flowers and Prosecco on ice were a lovely touch. The hot tub, gas barbecue and outdoor dining set were available on the decking if we wanted them. The cottage is less than 6 months old so is very clean and fresh. We would recommend to any couples wanting a short break.

To mirror previous reviews, this very clean, cosy, well-appointed cottage has everything a couple visiting the area could possibly want or need.

The personal welcome from host, Karl along a bottle of chilled Prosecco and fresh flowers were very nice touches. The cottage is well equipped with a lovely shower room and an extremely comfortable bed. The hot tub, sun deck and view across the meadow were just added bonuses. As others have mentioned Karl is a superb host and nothing is too much trouble for him. This cottage is ideally situated to explore the surrounding area both locally and further afield within the Peak District. I cannot recommend this property enough.

Our stay at the Woodshed was absolutely magical!

The sheer level of hospitality and thoughtfulness shown by the owners is completely unmatched. They have absolutely thought of everything and more to include in the cottage! The cottage includes everything you’d need for a romantic getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, with all the best amenities required, the most heavenly of beds and views of the sunset from the hot tub to complete a wonderful day. The owners were always available and helpful. In all our travelling we have never met owners who made us feel so at home as they did and we are truly grateful for that. I cannot rave enough about how great of an experience it was and we will most certainly be regular visitors!

Cannot recommend “The Wood Shed” at Bank Top Farm highly enough, our stay was for seven days and we loved every minute it was so relaxing especially the hot tub , also the bed was so comfy and massive bigger than a king size and the bedding was good quality like everything else in the “Wood Shed”.

Karl the owner is lovely nothing to much trouble, when we arrived there was a bottle of Prosecco chilling in an ice bucket and fresh flowers in a vase , will certainly book another stay in the near future.
