  • "My husband and I booked for a few days away and it was wonderful."

The barn is so well done and so cosy and inviting. The location is perfect, tucked away in a little village surrounded by fields and animals and the added extra of a hot tub to come back to after a day of exploring was perfect. We will definitely be back again in the near future and have already been telling our friends/family about our lovely few days away. Thank you for having us x

  • "Orchard Barn is an amazing cottage with amazing hosts who go the extra mile to make you feel welcome."

The area is so peaceful it was just what was needed for a relaxing break. There are some really nice walks on the doorstep and plenty of other adventures in the local area just a short drive away. It was nice to have the hot tub to relax in and rest tired legs which is permanently ready for a dip. There is a local country pub in walking distance and the staff and locals are really friendly and welcoming (dog friendly too but book in advance to eat as only a few tables are dog friendly inside). We stayed for 4 nights in September and was our first time staying, will definitely be returning. When we are next staying in the area we would not think about staying anywhere else after such a fantastic stay. Thank you to Rachael and Paul for everything, the prosecco, cupcakes and stuff on arrival were much appreciated.

The only negative (not the owners fault) was that due to it being well insulated that on hot days the place could do with a fan or some form of air conditioning. The location for all activities was perfect with everything being within a 30 mins drive.

To start it beautifully decorated, really cosy and immaculately clean. This place really is home from home. It has everything you could want or need. Little things like foil, salt and pepper (items I usually pack and take with me, but it was nice that the hosts had thought of everything). It's probably the best equipped holiday rental I have ever been to. We was greated by Rachel, who kindly showed us around ( never had that before ). It was lovely to be welcomed with cupcakes and prosecco. The area is lovely, really quiet. The kids loved watching the tractor in the field opposite. The area had loads of lovely pubs to eat. We had a lovely chilled weekend, it was just what we needed. Would recommend Orchard Barn. Thank you Rachel and Paul

Cottage was just like the pictures. Log burner easy to use every night. Used the lovely hot tub a couple of times, again really simple instructions. The double bedroom - what can I say, the bedding was so comfortable and snuggly didn’t want to leave and had it all to myself! Lovely bottle of Prosecco on ice and 4 cupcakes (and milk) upon arrival was a lovely gesture. A really relaxing week’s break in a beautifully done cottage.

  • "Great for what we needed for a base for 4 days."

Kitchen bathroom, hot tub and beds all very clean. All kitchen equipment and bedding is of an excellent standard. Cottage looks lovely when you first walk in, but on closer inspection tv unit, skirting, woodwork etc were dusty and clearly hadn’t been done on change over . Units in bedroom had thick cobwebs and dust behind. That said these things didn’t affect our stay but should be acknowledged. Host was very helpful and friendly, she met us on arrival and gave us the information we needed, Prosecco and cupcakes were a lovely touch. Great location for Alton Towers, (25min drive), great pub nearby ( Shoulder of mutton). The other holiday cottage is very close, the people staying the same time as us had 3 dogs, they barked quite a lot and I could see and hear them at the upstairs windows barking in the mornings. The hot tub was wonderful for our teenagers after a day in the theme park. This was probably the highlight of the stay for them. We have stayed in a lot of cottages in the UK and I would rate this one as a solid 8/10.

Dear Guest I very saddened to read your review. Orchard Barn, as previous guest reviews confirm, is maintained and cleaned to the highest standard. Great care is taken on each and every change over to ensure everything in the property is thoroughly cleaned and maintained. I think your concern wasn’t Orchard Barn but the dogs in the neighbouring holiday let. Dogs are certainly not allowed upstairs in any of our properties and as requested by myself any arising issues during your stay should have and could have been addressed straight away. We even exchanged dialogue via text during your stay but at no point did you give me the opportunity to rectify this particular issue, which would have been addressed straight away. It is in our interest to ensure that all our guests are entirely happy and enjoy their stay with us, which is reflected in previous reviews. Thank you for your positive comments and we would love to see you again soon. Property Owner

Located right next to a footpath perfect for the dogs early morning walks. The hot tub was a real treat particularly after long walk in the Derbyshire hills. We had an issue with the dishwasher which was being rectified but no fault of the owners. A bbq would have been a welcome addition as any holiday requires a bbq whatever the weather!! Thank you for a lovely week.

My wife and I stayed there for a week with our dog and absolutely loved it. The garden is large so it had plenty of space for the dog, it was so peaceful too being so far away from any busy roads and is fenced so is enclosed for the dog. The hot tub was great, it was clean and always hot. Inside the property, it is clearly well looked after and clean too. The communication from the owner (Rachael) was perfect, an email a couple of days before with additional information on how to find it, tips for when we got there, information for the dog etc and she also came to meet us in case we had any questions. Would absolutely recommend staying here - we’ll be trying to book a short stay in winter to make the most of the log burner.

Two adults dress size 10 used the sofa bed but it was very snug. Would still recommend and would probably still return should I need a place to stay in that area.

Hi Melissa, Thank you for your great feedback. We noticed a problem with the frame of the sofa bed after your departure, this may of contributed to the sofa bed not being very comfortable. We came to this property for our mini-moon after our winter wedding at the start of December and the property was amazing from the start. Welcome cakes, milk and a bottle of Prosecco was a lovely gesture and really made us feel at home. It was super warm and the underfloor heating and log burner were a real treat! The hot tub was an added bonus which was amazing at night in the frost with the changing lights and was very spacious. All rooms were clean and fresh and the beds & bedding were super warm and comfy. Great outdoor space for our husky who loved the frosty mornings. Location is lovely and quaint and very quiet yet not too far from places if you wanted to explore - such as Trentham Shopping Village which is highly recommended. ! Hot tub was brilliant and we used every day! Only small issue was lack of mirrors in bedrooms which when getting ready made it difficult.

  • "Orchard Cottage was delightful."

Finished to a high standard & well equipped. The welcome pack was an unexpected bonus - thankyou. We arrived in the dark unfortunately so we were not quite sure if we were at the right address. You do need a car to go anywhere but The Spotgate Inn is a must visit. We had a great week. Thankyou Rachael.

  • "What a stunning place!"

It has been beautifully decorated and styled. Extremely comfortable and very cosy. Heated flooring and log burned made coming in from the hot tub (which was spot on!) very pleasant indeed. We felt at home instantly, at no point did we feel overlooked, it’s all very private. Owners were very friendly and welcoming, they had even lit the fire for our arrival as it was snowing when we got there. Local pub Spot gate Inn was fun and muddy short walk and the food was fab, we dined in one of the train carriages which was really enjoyable. Trentham gardens and estate are only 20min drive which has a good range of shops and a huge garden/home centre. We will be booking again as soon as we can. Thank you very much for giving us a beautiful place to have a week needed break.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay here it’s absolutely perfect for a relaxing short break."

For us we couldn’t fault it in any way, little touches like milk egg bread and butter and a bottle of processco on ice left for us really topped a perfect place off as it just shows how much the owners care as not many places I’ve stayed would have done that. This did not affect our stay but for others it may do so worth noting that although the place is dog friendly the garden is not 100 percent secure but as I said not a problem for us. I would definitely book again as it’s gorgeous, the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed and everything you need really is already there!

  • "I stayed here with my partner and our dog for my birthday and had a brilliant time."

We were greeted by the owner (who was lovely) for a full show around the cottage and facilities. We also had a some bubbly waiting for us and a birthday cake for me. The cottage is situated on the owners property but we were given full privacy at all times- the owners were very friendly and explained that they were on the end of the phone if we needed them. The cottage itself is very clean and modern with everything you could need for the weekend. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and will definitely look to book again soon.

  • "Myself, my partner and our 2 dogs stayed here to see the new year in, and we had a great get away, there was even chilled bubbley waiting for us!"

The place itself is really clean and modern, the hot tub was a real treat! Though on the owners grounds, it’s a very private area. The owners were wonderful, very polite and helpful but also left us to enjoy our break. We couldn’t fault our stay, there is a huge field near the cottage for dog walks where you can see cows and sheep. Also a lovely dog friendly pub just ten minutes walk from the cottage that has lovely food. Would definitely recommend this destination! Thank you for having us
