  • "We had a really enjoyable stay with our kids and dog."

The property is very nicely finished and the owner Rachael was very helpful. We enjoyed local pub walks despite some rather soggy weather and the hot tub on return was super. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxed rural Staffordshire break. Thank you Rachael, you have a very nice property in a lovely setting and the cupcakes and fizz on arrival was a lovely gesture.

  • "The Saddlers is a lovely property."

It was clean, cosy and comfortable. Racheal was very responsive to all our questions and needs, a fantastic and attentive host. The log fire was lovely, sofas comfy and everything you could need was available in the kitchen. Our visits from Ted (the friendly dog from next door) were a lovely surprise, and it was nice seeing the cows graze in the field in the mornings. If I was being very critical, the bin was a little far from the kitchen, and the lid could do with fixing. And the microwave was a little rusty on the inside, it could do with being replaced. But honestly, these are very minor issues. The place really is a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. I highly recommend it :)

Thank you for your great feedback and for letting me know Ted has been making social calls. I'll endeavour to make sure he doesn't visit Saddlers in the future as I appreciate that other guests and their dogs are not keen on dogs who they don't know. Thank you for your comments regarding the microwave and rubbish bin which have now been replaced. We're glad you enjoyed your break at Saddlers. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Saddlers and enjoyed time together as a family."

I think on reflection, maybe just a few points that would of allowed us to give more than 4*. Yes it sleeps 6 (2 people being on the sofabed)- but this sofa bed is in the living room with no curtains to block the light out or give you any privacy. For me, this place is better suited to 4 people maximum. We felt the place could have been a little cleaner but nothing outrageous. Eg-some dishes and utensils were dirty, floor a little muddy. There was also some dog poo on the garden out the front, not ideal when you have children with you- but, this is a dog friendly cottage so, we accept it to a degree. Overall, a lovely place, the owner was lovely and we did have a great time. Just those little things which have knocked it down to a 4*. The hot tub was lovely & private.

I am proud to say that Saddlers is thoroughly cleaned to a very high standard, as previous reviews reflect. It is in our interest as owners to ensure our property is thoroughly clean and well maintained for all our guests. A dishwasher is provided ensuring all utensils, crockery and glasses are all kept in pristine condition. All items are checked on change over along with a thorough sweep, hoover and finally mop of the floors throughout. Members of your party arrived before you, on what was a particularly wet day. They proceeded to carry in overnight bags from their car parked outside, this is why you thought the floor muddy. The dog poo you refer to was in our garden, which we endeavour to pick up religiously every day, not your private enclosed garden you have exclusive use of. The property is described very well on the Sykes website and clearly states the number of bedrooms and the arrangement of the property. The main living area does have voile curtains which you cannot see through when outside. Saddlers is not overlooked and looks out over open fields, ensuring complete privacy. I am saddened that you did not allow me to address your issues at the time of your short stay which would have been sorted out instantly. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at Saddlers. Property Owner

The location was perfect, the property was clean and had everything we needed and the owners were very helpful in providing additional facilities (grab rails, shower seat etc.) for a guest with mobility issues. Finding such a nice property that’s also dog friendly and with a hot tub was a real bonus. The owners went out of their way to replace a kitchen item damaged by previous guests (within a couple of hours of mentioning it!) and couldn’t have been more helpful. We rarely return to the same place as we like seeing new areas but it was so lovely here that we will book again. Would highly recommend to all but especially anyone looking for a dog/disability friendly place.

The most important thing to us, when we stay anywhere, is cleanliness and this place was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, well equipt and perfect if you have a dog as the property is secure. The underfloor heating worked well and the hot tub was fantastic. Our host Rachael was welcoming and you get the feeling no ask would be too big. Lovely little extra touch of the bottle of fizz on ice for our arrival. We found a great walk at Downs Banks to take the dog, each day we went a different route and it was brilliant - just a short 10/15 min drive from the property. A small suggestion - we got lucky with the weather and it was very warm. A fan or two would be a great addition to the facilities. As it’s south facing and we get the sun all day, the addition of a parasol outdoors to provide some shade for us but also our four legged friend would be hugely beneficial. Thanks again!

The accommodation is so tasteful and comfortable, and the hot tub is amazing. As a family we include a 5 and 6 year old, and a larger dog who all also loved the garden. The owners are close by, helpful if needed, but were very respectful of privacy. They knew our dog could bark when seeing another dog so kept the lovely Ted (black lab) away. You’re roughly about 40-50 yards away from owners property but they are lovey and give you all the privacy you need. Literally everything you will need to stay there has been provided. Beyond amazed at home much stuff was there. We brought too much but always better to be prepared. Slight ongoing issue with WiFi (Sykes hadn’t updated advert correctly for mobile viewing) and the roof is a metal roof so you don’t get any mobile signal once inside. So if you are like us and watch everything through Netflix/Amazon/Disney etc download things first.
