Netherdale Penthouse

Lovely apartment but could have been cleaner glass tables had fingerprints all over them dust and crumbs under radiators under the bed a pair of knickers left by someone else left there as didn’t want to look too closely shelves dusty cooker not that clean.

Also could do with more plates and cooking items some of the dishes were tripled. Beautiful location close to the town , rest and opera house and beautiful pavilion gardens. Lovely apartment would stay again if cleaning company changed .

The property is well equipped, warm, comfortable, and within easy walking distance of the town.

We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend to anyone else. Our only slight issue was with some of the cleaning, and attention to detail that could have been better. Around the bin on the kitchen floor was very sticky, and sticky splash marks against the kitchen doors next to the bin- where something had been spilled, and obviously not been mopped. The glass top dining table was clean, but very smeared. (We did clean these few bits ourselves)! We couldn’t find a sink plug, or a bowl to hand wash pots- we did use the dishwasher, but some of the glasses are very big, and don’t fit in very well, so having the option to hand wash a few bits would have made things easier. There were crumbs on the settee, and under the top floor bed was dusty. Apart from these few minor things, that a word with the cleaning company wouldn’t resolve we had a great stay, and would recommend highly staying to anyone else. Thank you.

This is a beautifully presented, spacious apartment in a great location for exploring the Peak District.

Remember it’s called Penthouse so there are 4 stairs to reach the front door and then more stairs, but they are worth it. We had a couple of issues but the owner was very responsive to come up with a solution which worked. Good parking with EV charging facilities. We had a great stay.

Where to start.

Parking not clear. A car was parked in our parking space that prevented the use of the recharging facility. No instructions on how to use "white goods" we struggled with hob, cooker and dishwasher and we are engineers! No salt or pepper - surely a basic along with tea coffee and sugar. How about a "welcome pack" including milk and biscuits? No hooks and limited hanging space and hangers, we (4 motorcyclist) improvised, but not very luxurious. There was no plug for the kitchen sink or bowl, so washing up was challenging. Some blinds could not be raised, making accessing windows to open difficult. Could not locate the first aid kit. Lamp in upstairs bedroom didn't work. Mark on carpet in back bedroom. Hopefully all will be attended to before we visit next year

A bit of a mixed bag, really.

The apartment is light and comfortable and very stylish in many ways but lacks practicality in others. e.g. a state-of-the art kitchen but no oven gloves; could have done with some smaller glasses instead of the ones that held almost a pint of liquid! Lovely modern bathrooms but lack of facilities for hanging towels, especially in the upstairs bathroom, where, despite there being plenty of room and wall space, there is a small towel rail only suitable for a hand towel. You can Bluetooth your phone to the bathroom mirror and play your music but you need a stool (or a very tall person) to open any of the windows. The location was great for us and we enjoyed our stay, but a bit more thought to some of the more practical aspects would have made it better,

I recently stayed at this apartment with my family, and we had an amazing experience overall! The apartment was spotlessly clean, which made us feel comfortable and at home right away. The location was perfect—close to everything we needed, yet peaceful and quiet. What truly stood out was the stunning interior design. Every little detail was thoughtfully chosen, creating a stylish and cozy atmosphere. From the decor to the layout, it’s clear that a lot of care went into making this space special. The only minor downside was that the beds could be more comfortable, but this didn’t take away from our enjoyment too much. Everything else was so well done that we still had a fantastic stay. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a clean, beautifully designed, and well-located place to stay. We’d love to come back in the future! A beautiful property in Buxton in a quiet area with good parking facilities and an EV charger.

It was easy to find and to access the property with the codes provided. The property is well maintained, was clean and had most things we required. We are a couple in our 60's and found the mattress in the first floor too soft and springy (my husband did check the mattress on the second floor bedroom and it felt the same), hence the score on comfort. We only used one of the three bedrooms. We recognise that a mattress is very a very personal choice. We ate out, but we also used the kitchen facilities. It would be useful to have the instruction booklets for the induction hob and washing machine or at least a website link to the manuals for them to be inserted into the property folder. We rang the owner to find out how to use the hob. The owner answered the phone promptly, (it was about 8pm). The owner was very polite and talked us through the instructions on how switch the hob on as we found out it was locked. All in all we had a lovely stay at Netherdale Penthouse and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Absolutely lovely accommodation lovely and warm, cosy and homely.

The only things I would like to say is that the beds seem to be a bit unsteady. It felt like they need “tightening up”. We were a group of 6 adults and so 2 of us had the bunk bed room. I would not have liked to sleep on the top bunk as it felt unsteady for an adult. Also the glass table top in the kitchen was very wobbly. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work and we needed some kind of opener to open the top window after a shower to get rid of the steam in the bathroom as the window was extremely high up. Luckily one of the guests was tall so he could just about reach it but someone of average height would struggle. These were only minor things and didn’t stop us loving the penthouse. I would definitely recommend it and would stay there again if we revisited the area. Thanks very much!

Overall a very good stay.

Excellent location. Nice shower, good TV, heating etc. The parking information was not available and when I tried to contact Sykes about that, I received no reply. The kitchen floor is dangerous and needs to be addressed urgently. Some places have been stuck down with tape, but that's not good enough. Several members of our team tripped on the floor, and we had a couple of ripped socks too. We all woke up on the first morning and complained about the mattresses. All 4 need replacing, they are lumpy and uncomfortable. We found ourselves running out of mugs and glasses (we were 6 adults). The lock on the downstairs bathroom needs fixing.

Netherdale Penthouse was warm and comfortable with stylish attention to detail.

We loved the quiet location with its easy walk to the historic centre and not much further to awesome views from Solomon's Temple. Buxton is a super base for exploring the Peak District and we look forward to returning and sampling another apartment within the building.

Excellent location - good to have guaranteed parking ; Easy access to Buxton ; Clean and comfortable; We were a bit surprised to find that one of the Double room was in fact a full sized bunk bed - but perhaps we should have studied the photos more closely.

PLEASE can you sort out the key-code safe - It took us several very stressful minutes to open it - not a good start to the holiday.

Great location and very comfortable, well appointed apartment.

It is spacious with enough room for the whole family to have enough room to hide from each other. Would definitely recommend this apartment. A summer weight duvet would be a great addition to the property as the winter weight duvets were too warm. It's also worth noting that there is no terrestrial TV.

This is a new conversion (2023 I think), so the standard of decoration, fixtures and fittings is very high, and done to a high standard.

Generally it feels like a "luxury" property. As a new EV owner I particularly appreciated the chargers (I think that is now a requirement in new conversions). Kitchen equipment was good (though we still aren't sure what the thing in the middle of the hob was for), dishwasher, fridge etc. all good. We never used the washing machine. Looking at the back of the units the wiring install looked professionally done. The main living room/kitchen/dining area (one big area) was very comfortable. The property is on a nice quiet road, but also very close to town. The shared entrance was clean, access easy, and no noise from the other residents. Things that could be improved: 1. There's nowhere to hang/dry wet clothes. I wear a lot of wool, which can't be tumbled dried. Also, this is the Peak District, where some people will be walking and get wet. Some sort of line, outside, would be a huge improvement. This is something to bear in mind if you are keen walkers. (the rest of this list is really for the benefit of the owners.) 2. Our bed wasn't massively comfortable. 3. There were hardly any instructions for the appliances. We never really worked out the television. Other things we got working, eventually. 4. At least one of the instructions in the "welcome pack" is incorrect. The consumer unit isn't in a bedroom, so when an RCD tripped it took a fair bit of rummaging round to find it. I've corrected that in the welcome pack. 5. No shower curtain. Not sure why the owners didn't fit one. It doesn't affect residents that much, but over time there will be water damage/leaks in the bathroom, which the owners will have to deal with. Also in the bathroom, it would be good to be able to open that Velux somehow - it gets very steamy in there, with condensation all over. The extractor fan is as useless as most of them are.

A lovely luxurious and spacious property, clean and comfy and a perfect base to explore the area.
