  • “Everything was lovely, it was great to have a fire as we don’t have 1 at home.”

It was a short walk to the centre with plenty of shops and bars( although some where not open due to only being able to drink outside) The only problem we had was the drive up the lane to the lanterns ,we have a low car and it bottomed out about 3/4 of the way up,although it didn’t damage the car but be aware. But all in all we had a very enjoyable stay

The property

A delightful ground floor apartment in the conservation area of central Buxton with it's own garden and parking for two cars.

This tastefully decorated 'pied-á-terre' is the perfect accommodation for couples, small groups of friends or families wishing to enjoy the great outdoors without being removed from the hustle and bustle of a vibrant town centre.

The designer kitchen has everything you need to prepare breakfast or an evening meal and the sitting room with dining area enjoys lots of natural light from the beautiful sash windows, there is also a woodburning stove to relax in front of after a busy day's sightseeing.

The two bedrooms are well furnished and extremely cosy and beautiful modern stylish shower room.

Outside there's a nice lawned garden with gravelled area, perfect for a BBQ.

That's of course if you don't find the many eateries and pubs on your doorstep just too tempting.

The choices on offer really make for a great holiday, whatever the weather!

The great outdoor splendours of the Peak District National Park is a very short drive or on your doorstep there are the shops, galleries and cafes, not forgetting the theatre with a full program of headline acts all year round.

If you are in the mood for a bit of pampering you're in for a treat as the university has created a beauty and wellness spa which receives rave reviews and is just two minutes' walk away.

Buxton is well-placed for touring Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park, with a selection of pubs, restaurants and cafés to choose from, as well as attractions such as the limestone cave network of Poole's Cavern, Buxton Museum & Art Gallery and the zip wire course through the treetops at Go Ape Buxton.

Walkers can stroll along the Pavilion Gardens, enjoying an afternoon picnic in the sunshine, while the magnificent Peak District National Park offers plenty of walking and cycling trails through magnificent countryside.

The pretty towns and villages of Bakewell, Bourton-on-the-Water, Matlock Bath and Castleton are all within easy reach, as are the stunning Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
