    We have stayed in many properties. Most claim to be well equipped but Woodland View really is - everything we needed was available, even a biscuit barrel! Owner happy to share local knowledge. Good attractions and beauty spots within walking distance or a short drive away. Highly recommended.

  • "This was a great property for a family holiday."

    Both double rooms have king-size beds. There is plenty of storage - and a generous supply of coat hangers (which is rare). Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was very well equipped and includes a coffee machine. The lounge is comfortable and has a recliner sofa. We really appreciated the owners' welcome pack and vase of fresh flowers. As we arrived on the first day, we were concerned that it seemed a long walk into town, but this wasn't the case. It's only 20 minutes, and you can go through through the Pavilion Gardens which are lovely.

    Parking and garden a plus. House very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed including some little extras. Nice not to have a huge list of do's and don'ts - just enough info for what we needed. Quiet area and easy walk into Buxton. Nice walk in through the park along the river but good to walk back at night along the nicely lit main road. Perfect - thanks!

  • "What a lovely house everything you needed and more, was very clean."

    Had a garden you could sit out in, we were very lucky with the weather. The owners were lovely and friendly checked we were ok and had everything we needed. Within walking distance into buxton about 15 mins on a wander in and lots of walks from the doorstep.

  • "Friendly and helpful host."

    We were very happy with the accommodation. It was very clean, had everything needed for a family holiday including games for when the weather wasn’t great and walking guides. Beds were comfy. Good location with some scenic walks a short walking distance away including through a park into Buxton Centre.

  • "We really enjoyed our week’s holiday at Woodland View."

    The house was immaculate and well equipped. Weather was fantastic so we spent a lot of time outside in the properties enclosed garden , which was safe and secure for our small dog. A 10-15 minute walk along to Buxton centre. Which has a beautiful park and lots of lovely places to stop for a drink or meal. Good supermarkets close by as well. Woodland View was an ideal place to explore the Peak District with so many places to visit just a short drive away. Would love to return to this property and would definitely recommend if wanting to stay in the Buxton area.

  • "Lovely comfy property, with everything you could need."

    Enclosed garden which is a very important factor for us with our dogs. The house is beautifully dressed and is in an ideal location for walking into Buxton and for travelling around the area. Even having been to the Peak District on many occasions, thanks to the owner’s Father we had a beautiful drive through the Goyt Valley which we had somehow missed before to get to Lyme Park. Very relaxing break.

    Buxton is a great town, and there were lovely walks straight from the house. Thanks for the Prosecco, cake and coffee. The Christmas tree was a surprise, but a welcome touch.

  • "A wonderful cosy home that is just 15 minutes walk away from the centre of Buxton and within a short drive of all major attractions of the Peak District."

    The house itself is set in quiet surroundings and has every home from home feature, maybe more! The owner also includes a heartfelt welcome package, hairdryers in every bedroom; hair straighteners, and additional toiletries in each bathroom. We will be returning ourselves in the near future and would highly recommend Woodland View to anyone considering holidays or short breaks in the Peaks.

  • "A beautifully appointed home - chic and comfortable."

    Great to have the back garden too. Easy access to the town on foot or by car. A 15 minute walk through a wooded walk and the Pavilion Gardens into town - beautiful. The house is in a quiet setting which suited the light sleepers amongst us. Can’t recommend it enough!

  • "Just enjoyed a 5 night stay at this property, it has everything you could need, very spacious and an enclosed garden for our dog to wander out into."

    Jane the owner was communicative and at hand if we ever needed her, there was also a welcome pack awaiting us on arrival. There are many things to do in & around Buxton, we took in a visit to Grin Low, Buxton Country Park and a wander up to Solomon's Temple, visited Bakewell, walked along the Monsal Trail and spent time over the weekend at The Pavilion. With all the things to do in the Peak District we would look at staying here again, thanks Jane for helping to make this a superb short break.

  • "This felt like staying in a good friend’s home, rather than a ‘holiday cottage’, as the furnishings, comfort and quality was definitely superior."

    A lovely location just off the main road into Buxton, less than a mile to the centre if you walked through the park/gardens. Tall trees in the back garden gave a beautiful outlook, and our hound enjoyed the fenced-in garden. Convenient parking at the front, and pleasant walks from the door around tree-lined avenues and attractive housing. Helpful owner nearby, and we very much appreciated the delicious welcoming goodies, plus milk in the fridge, as well as provision of coffee, tea, dishwasher tablets, etc. Easy to recommend!

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
