Lake View Cottage

We had an amazing stay at Lake View,The Cottage is absolutely stunning,Its exceptionally clean and well equipped ,And the views have to be seen to be believed.

Walks from the door are beautiful and you can walk for miles. Luckily we had great weather so the BBQ was used and we sat outside and enjoyed the impeccable grounds.The animals were great to see,My daughter got to hold a new born Lamb ,There was also Cows,Donkeys and Chickens and loads of local wildlife. The owners Julie and Andrew are the nicest people you could wish to meet and gave us lots of local advice and met us at the property.We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone and we will definitely return. The track leading to the farm isn't that bad ,Just take your time and it's not a problem at all. The Cottage and the views waiting at the end of the track are worth it !! The hot tub was also fantastic after a long walk. Fantastic place with Fantastic owners.

lovely hosts nothing to much trouble.

beautiful quiet surroundings with outstanding countryside views. Hot tub was perfect to relax in And towels were provided. Kitchen was large with everything you would need. they have an outdoor pizza oven and barbeque we didnt use this as it was February. The farm track down to wards the farm is very rough but the wet weather hasn't helped. we would love to go back later in the year when we could make more use of the facilities.

It was well stocked in kitchen appliances and entertaining for the children with books, toys dvds and animals to watch. The hosts were absolutely amazing despite sykes messing up our booking. Would 100% recommend booking the cosy cottage for a get away.

Julie and Andrew are wonderful hosts who went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The cottage was amazing. It was perfect for a relaxed break in beautiful surroundings. The location was good for exploring Shropshire. We are already planning our next visit for when the weather gets better. Thank you to Julian and Andrew for everything.

The property is advertised as having "wifi/broadband".

Sadly although there is a router (positioned to minimise the signal throughout the property), this was not the case. For us - working broadband was essential as two of the party had work to do online and online meetings to attend whilst we were away. Even sat in the utility room right next to the router this was impossible and they were forced on several occasions to drive to a McDonalds or Costa to work. It is simply unusable even for simple emails. A shame because otherwise the property was very clean, spacious, well appointed and with a lovely view. The dark skies were also a bonus, but the whole experience was sadly heavily tainted by the unnecessary disruption and travel out needed.

Absolute gem of a cottage.

Would come back in a heart beat. Julie very responsive to messages and always around for any help required. Cottage and facilities just 100% perfect. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

The cottage is in a beautiful location in the middle of the countryside and the owners have made every effort to supply everything needed for a comfortable stay, including a state of the art barbecue and outside pizza oven, which unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to use.

The surrounding garden is well tended which enhance the sense of relaxation all of us felt during our stay. Perfect place for a long weekend, catching up with old friends.

Accommodation was first class and exactly as described.

We had superb weather so enjoyed spending time in the large garden. Also, being remote it was very quiet and secluded. Great hosts, Julie and Andrew, were there when needed and gave us great tips of places to visit.

It's a grand property in a tranquil location. It was lovely seeing the animals. The driveway is a bit challenging as described - just need to take it slowly.

Fantastic house in great location overlooking fields and the lake.

Lots of facilities and nice and warm. Very spacious. Nice to have 3 bathrooms. Long driveway down unmade road but that was doable. Would visit again.

A lovely, warm, comfortable & well equipped holiday cottage.

The owners were very welcoming & we appreciated being able to contact them when needed. Our party of 6 meet annually in a cottage for a weeks stay & all agreed this was a wonderful place to stay ( although the weather wasn’t very kind to us!!)

The track surface to access the farm was the roughest we have encountered but not helped by heavy rainfall. The house was very comfortable and clean and well equiped. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Well organised and good documented information. The approach lane/track is a nightmare, sadly, and more suited to a 4 by 4 than a saloon car. Rather detracts from the overall experience.

A truly wonderful cottage that lives up to its listing and more.

Inside is spacious and very well appointed. The views, especially from the first floor lounge are beautiful. There is an abundance of wildlife and birdlife seen from here and when walking around the grounds. The whole place is ideal for a relaxing, get away from it all holiday. The owners Julie and Andrew couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

We had an amazing Easter weekend!

The layout of the property is great, with nice open spaces to socialise and the views across the fields were amazing. The children loved exploring the fields and the lake with us, and meeting the animals! Julie was really friendly and met us on arrival. She genuinely wanted to make sure all was ok, and even messaged at one point let us know there was a double rainbow over the fields. I’m sure we will return!

A very well presented property, fully equipped and beautifully clean.

Julie welcomed our party on arrival and was available to assist with any problems should they arise. Initially experienced some difficulties with tuning in the television but Julie sorted the matter immediately. Due to severe wet weather conditions the long driveway had many potholes which need to be filled. (Julie was most apologetic for not being able to rectify this prior to our arrival.} A most enjoyable and pleasant stay. Thank you

Wonderful house with stunning views.

One of the most well equipped houses we have stayed in. As other reviewers have said, the farm track /road to the farm is rough, but taken at a sedate pace it was not a problem.

Overall we were very happy with the property.

The travel directions provided by the owner were very useful. It is a great farm house with superb views on a working property with the owner onsite next door. A good base to explore Shropshire and its surrounds.

We came for a 3 week work trip.

House was amazing. So comfortable, warm and cosy. Perfect place to unwind after a long day. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of space to chill, drink a beer and enjoy the views. Highly recommend. Would be perfect for a family getaway also.

This is a wonderful property, warm and extremely comfortable.

The drive there is on and unmade up road which does have to be taken very slowly but so worth the effort as it is a beautiful house set in wonderful surroundings.

My family and I had an amazingly relaxing week, the hosts were so friendly and helpful with the local area knowledge, and shared with us when local wildlife were active.

We enjoyed all the animals, and my kids spent time enjoy the grounds and local area. We couldn't have asked for more, and intend to return in the future.

We loved our stay at Lake View Cottage, a most beautiful house.

It provided everything that you could possibly need. It was clean, warm, cosy and delightfully relaxing. Lots of places to visit and lovely pubs to eat at not too far away. We loved the animals and enjoyed a walk around the lake. The garden, shrubs, flowers and trees are lovely. We enjoyed watching a few of the large collection of DVD’s and the amount of books and games available are amazing. It was definitely a place you looked forward to coming back to after a busy day.

It's a fantastic property and the hosts (Julie and Andrew) were so welcoming and attentive - even going to the effort of telling us when it was a good night to see the sunset or look out for the blood moon or stars! Property was very spacious - more than ample room for us as a family of 6. The children really enjoyed the selection of books, games and DVDs! It was a peaceful base from which to explore a lot of Shropshire. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property

What a lovely property, quite unique.

Yes as other guests have said the access road is a pain but the property itself makes it worthwhile, extremely spacious and well laid out. So peaceful to sit either upstairs or downstairs and just look out towards the fields and lake. Really enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Lake view cottage.

The owners kindly left a bottle of wine and chocolates for us. We enjoyed seeing the sheep, donkeys and ducks as well as the cheeky squirrel. Julie contacted us promptly when she found we had left behind a set of keys and posted them to us arriving the following day.

Lake View Cottage definitely had the wow factor! It is spacious, clean and has everything you could possibly need. We loved sitting in the mezzanine looking out over the lake and watching the sheep! This is one of the best accommodation we have ever been, definitely the most spacious one and is immaculately clean, very quiet and the beautiful garden. This has lots of equipment for cooking, lots of books, games,DVD and the friendly animals - the donkeys, the cat, cows and the dog. We had a wonderful week there.

Absolutely amazing place.

It is an isolated location which is exactly what we were looking for. It’s about a mile from the nearest main road and total peace and tranquility. It’s is extremely well equipped, very comfortable and spacious. There is a lovely mezzanine area on the top floor to relax and admire the beautiful countryside and of course the lake with the bird life. Lots of places to visit in the area. Very friendly owners and animals.

Lake View Cottage was one of the most memorable holidays we have had over the past 20 years.

The cottage was superb, set in beautiful countryside, and we had the warmest of welcomes from our hosts.The accommodation was absolutely lovely, with space, convenience and comfort of the highest order. There was lots to do all within easy reach: Wales, Chester, the potteries, friendly pubs and restaurants...to name but a few! However, the abiding memories are of peace, tranquility and a wonderful night sky..the latter being something to be savoured when used to town living.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful, especially the staircase and the mezzanine area, perfect place to relax and enjoy the gorgeous views.

We went after lockdown was eased so the owners were understandably shielding, but were still lovely and welcoming despite having to keep a distance. A number of reviewers have mentioned the road leading up to the cottage. We drove a low profile city car who's wheels are mainly rims and very little tyre and we found that yes, there were some bumpy spots here and there, but you'll be fine if you drive slow and careful. And honestly, when you get to the cottage, whatever little bumps you experienced for 5 minutes will be totally worth it. Our kids loved the neighbouring sheep and donkeys, the very free range chickens and geese were such a novelty too and be sure not to miss the amazing sunsets viewable from the paddock. We were lucky to have a clear night and enjoyed the most amazing star studded sky ever without even having to step out. The cottage itself was beautiful, clean and comfortable, well stocked with all the necessary amenities. We had a brilliant week.

Myself and friends had a fabulous relaxing weekend away at this beautiful house. Julie is a fantastic host, making sure we had everything we needed. Communication was great and we were even greeted with a gorgeous homemade Victoria Sponge cake on arrival. The spectacular views (and Donkeys) were lovely to wake up to each morning. We visited Shrewsbury's Jail House, The secret bunker, Chester Zoo,BlitsHill Victorian Village and RAF Cosford's air museum. A lovely holiday in a beautiful area and delightful property.

The cottage was superb in a beautiful location with friendly owners next door.

It was very well equipped and furnished to a high standard and a lovely homely and warm interior. I would recommend this cottage to anybody who wants a nice peaceful relaxing holiday with the added benefit of wildlife just outside your door. I generally make a rule of not going back to a place again as I like to see different parts of the country, I may make an exception here and book again.

A Wonderful cottage.

This was our second stay and it was exceptional on both occasions. Andrew & Julie are perfect hosts. Their little touches of him baked cake, Easter eggs for the girls, fresh milk & eggs.. perfect. The cottage is excellent and fully equipped home from home. We love the animals just roaming and the beautiful garden and lake... a wonderful stay....again.

We all absolutely loved our time at Styche farm, we had a lovely welcome from Julie and Andrew and felt at home straight away, we can’t fault any part of our holiday, from booking with Sykes to the week away at the farm.

The location and views are exceptional and the owner, Julie, is very friendly and helpful and yet avoids being obtrusive. We had a delightful and very relaxing stay and would happily come again.

Lake View Cottage is an absolutely wonderful place to spend time.

Our hostess, Julie, was attentive just at the right times and is such a lovely person. The house itself was amazing and definitely surpassed what we expected to be a lovely place. It is a fantastic space, inside and out, excellently equipped and beautifully, most comfortably furnished. Although on a farm, there was no disturbance at all and, had we had little ones with us, I understand it would have been possible to see the animals with supervision. We'd visited with our adult children for a time of rest and relaxation and that is what we experienced, spending most of our time in the home. The only hurdle is the slow drive down the last mile of country road, due to road condition but it wouldn't stop us going there again. The effort was well worth it. I highly recommend Lake View Cottage

The directions were great because it is a bit of the beaten track.

Wonderful gluten free cake on arrival Birthday card because they knew it was a birthday party. Tour of the baby heifers. Wonderful views. Nothing too much trouble.

The cottage was superb,very clean,and everything you could need was there.

The welcome and the cake from the owners was great. The only negative was the last 3/4 mile drive up the farm track.it was very bumpy and the car got covered in mud. Everything else about the cottage was really great David Carter stayed 9/11 until 16/11/2018

Fabulous, spacious extremely well equipped property in a beautiful, peaceful setting.

Owners very attentive.

Excellent base to get out and about the cottage itself was quite comfortable and is quite big inside.

The mezzanine floor level is superb to read books and just relax you won't be disappointed. The owners are all to willing to help in any way possible. All in all this was a great experience for me and my family

This was a lovely secluded property which was beautifully laid out within and set in an idyllic location.

The split level organisation of the main room worked well for a family who were doing different things together (and let mum and dad keep an eye on what the kids were upto without cramping their style). A fantastic place for a holiday.

The mile drive to the property is not suitable for low cars as it's really a farm track.

The owners are exceptionally helpful and friendly.

We had a great time in this beautiful property.

It is well maintained and has lovely countryside views. There are however a couple of points I would like to raise. The 3 miles from Market Drayton will take 20 minutes to get there. The track to the property certainly feels more than a mile, and to exceed more than 5 miles an hour on it is asking for trouble. It is totally isolated. We walked into Market Drayton across the fields and it is a lovely walk, but you could not do that if you were going out for the evening in nice clothes and shoes. A car is a must. Clearly the owners have spent a lot of money on the property but I would willingly have paid a little more to ensure the occupiers do not have to provide their own toilet rolls, kitchen towel and washing up liquid. All were in short supply. These are only minor niggles and may seem petty to mention, but if the owners were to provide an adequate stock they would be close to having the perfect property.

Lakeview cottage is in a beautiful, peaceful, picturesque setting and its owners Julie and Andrew are very welcoming.

The accomodation is very comfortable with all the amenities you would expect from a property of this quality. I would not hesitate to recommend Lakeview cottage.

The house is extremely spacious with lovely views of the countryside and the Lake from the upper floor lounge.

The house is very well equipped with a large fridge/freezer and lots of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. In fact everything that you could possibly need. Our hosts provided a lovely chocolate cake which was very welcome. We are a group of six family members who meet up every Spring and look for 3 double rooms with bathrooms. We all agreed that Lake View Cottage is the best we have visited to-date. There are lots of places to visit in the area which is a bonus.

From arriving at the cottage we were greeted by the owner, when we entered it was excellent.

It was open plan on ground floor and was great as we all liked it. All the amenities were great ,bedrooms were lovely . It was so quite and so relaxing. Would recommend this cottage to anyone who enjoys peace & quite.

Lovely house set in beautiful surroundings.

Very helpful hosts,nothing too much trouble. Privileged to see newborn calves and lambs on their working farm. The grandchildren loved giving the donkeys an apple a day! The panoramic windows offer the most wonderful views,binoculars provided to watch the wildlife! Large living area, wonderful kitchen all kept lovely and warm by underfloor heating. Welcome homemade cake was delicious!!!!!! The homemade chutney and jams looked so delicious we had to buy one. We will definitely return for another wonderful break.

A beautiful home in a stunning setting.

Everything provided for and owners were very helpful when we had questions. We didn't explore the surrounding area much as we wanted a relaxing break from city life. Simply perfect break, we couldn't have asked for anything more.

Such a wonderful place! The garden was very beautiful and the animals were lovely for the children. The house was very big and really comfortable and clean. It was way prettier than we expected. We would definitely stay there again. The best Cottage we have ever stayed in. Thank you.
