Horse Shoe Cottage

This is our second visit to Horseshoe cottage, and definitely won't be our last.

Beautiful, peaceful hideaway with stunning views.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, very cosy and clean.

Fully equipped with everything you need. Perfect location for plenty of dog walks, great pub a few miles away, and good Chinese takeaway delivered. Dogs loved it, we loved it, we will be returning in the future.

Lovely characterful cottage.

Enclosed garden great for those with dogs. Super powerful shower which was surprising. Nice local pubs around the area.

Lovely stay in the beautiful Horseshoe Cottage.

Warm, welcoming, cosy, with the most beautiful views.

A lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.

Well equipped and spacious. Very comfortable beds and nice bed linen. The enclosed garden was very secure for my Springer Spaniels. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Lovely cottage in a rural setting.

Very peaceful.

Lovely stay great communication and facilities for the family would recommend and stay again Thank you

Lovely cosy cottage felt very homely.

Brilliant for our labrador as garden was enclosed and enough room for her to run around. We will book again.

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage.

Great, peaceful location. Loved waking up to the field views and the cows! And the enclosed garden was great for our dog. Feedback: suggest a table lamp for the sitting room. And also a broom as we couldn’t find one.

Very nice cottage set in lovely views and very quiete and peaceful.

.

A lovely comfortable stay in a beautiful cottage.

Much nicer than the photos portray. The surrounding area was perfect for dog walks and chilling out with family. A few niggles at the cottage such as no outside light for the garden when letting the dog out after dark, the tv in the 2nd bedroom didn't work and a faulty radiator valve that caused a very loud noise, but all in all, a great place to stay and I would happily return or recommend. Thank you!

My dog and I had a wonderful time.

Cottage was warm and inviting, with lovely character features, exposed beams and wood flooring. Phil and his beautiful well behaved dog were there to greet us and tell me how to use hot water etc. Photographs don’t show the real thing, there has been a new kitchen and decor. Huge selection of DVDs and games to choose from. WiFi worked well. Fully enclosed garden was a real bonus. I came here for peace, quiet and beautiful views and I got the best sleep! Will book again. Many thanks for having us.

Beautiful cottage, clean and cosy.

Everything you needed available. Secure enclosed garden for a dog and you can even block off the small gap under the gate should you have a small dog eg chihuahua. Best of all is the location, it is so quiet and peaceful just the sound of the birds to listen to. Excellent place to relax and recharge your battery. Phil was very friendly and lovely to be met at the property in person and shown around. We loved it so much we have already rebooked for 2025. Can not wait to return.

Lovely stay, perfect for a family trip to Alton Towers .

Had a good stay here on the way back from a long trip.

The fully secure garden was really great for the dogs. Cottage very dog friendly in genetal Very helpful owners. Only one small request, could please have some brighter light bulbs or some lamps? Would stay here again.

Fabulous holiday property used for the third time this year.

All amenities are there and it is such a relaxed site. Phil is always there, if needed. We would highly recommend it to anyone…… and the dogs loved the fully enclosed garden.

The property was perfect for us and our two dogs.

The garden is beautiful and secure and so very peaceful. The wi-fi was not an issue, with a very good signal. The track up to the farm.. is a farm track.. but in good order for a farm track.. and not an issue at farm track speed. We feel this property was truly a perfect find, and we will be returning.

We very much liked the cottage and the surroundings.

Clean, quiet and all necessities were present. Unfortunately the was no phone signal in the area and no mobile internet nor was the wifi in the cottage working but of 2 nights. As much as we like it quiet we would have needed to be contactable as we had animal sitters on our place at home. And we were unable to plan next days walks. Also any instructions for the appliances and for the leaving day were not present in the cottage. Luckily we could sort the heating system so it wasn't making the loud noises at unexpected times.

Fabulous spacious countryside cottage with all necessities.

Such a helpful owner. Great surroundings, so very peaceful. Lovely enclosed garden, ideal for the dogs. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

The cottage is located on a farm which is found down a single track road and then up a farm track, so don't expect it to be easy on your suspension.

But it is worth it to find the lovely cottages with a superb view out across the rolling hillside. Horseshoe cottage is well kitted out with everything you need for a wonderful stay. Mobile phone signal is poor to being non existent, but there is some wi-fi to keep you connected to the outside world. Cheadle is only a couple of miles for takeaways and shopping. Good location to access all the Peak District has to offer. Will definitely be visiting again.

A really lovely cottage, well equipped, comfortable and a wonderful location.

Out in the countryside, peaceful and quiet, but close to Cheadle, Leek and Stoke if you need the shops. We had a great week, so relaxing to get away from everything and wind down for a week

Wonderful stay.

The owner even went above and beyond to put up Christmas decorations for us! It's peaceful, warm and the walks are fantastic. Thank you very much.

First Class.

On a farm out in the country, only the birds singing and the moo of the cows, what else could you ask for.

Lovely character cottage set in a quite location.

Great enclosed garden for your furry friends. WiFi and phone signal poor but plenty of dvds to watch. Central location for walkers and visiting Alton towers and peak district. Will definitely return.

Gorgeous cottage , has all you need, beautiful country walks , 2 x dogs loved it , lots of space , lovely walks.

A Bostinly quiet and peaceful area on a working farm.

Just the sounds of some cows going to be milked, birds singing and Bostin views .. what more could we ask for? Horse Shoe Cottage was really spacious and comfortable with a spacious kitchen, big enough for 3 people to cook at once! The bedrooms were again spacious and comfortable, the only little problem was our daughter suffers from ME and it tired her out going to the bathroom and bedroom up and down the stairs, but we had a Bostinly wonderful time. We will recommend it to all we speak to!

Super cottage, handy location and exceedingly quiet.

This was our second visit and will definitely stay again ❤️

A beautiful cottage in stunning countryside.

We really enjoyed our week here, the cottage is a good size with everything you could need. We couldn’t get any phone signal, but there was a weak open Wi-Fi. This just meant we kept off the electronics for a bit, did lots of walking and played cards

We really enjoyed our stay at Horse Shoe Cottage.

A comfortable, sensible cottage, surrounded by beautiful countryside and views. Great for dogs and there human pets. Good base for visiting the Moors, dales and for those with the urge, Alton Towers. Plenty of walking, hiking and cycle tracks within easy reach. The local owners were very helpful and very friendly. Would happily visit again.

Second time we’ve stayed in this cottage and would stay again.

Lovely cottage, beautiful views. Very accommodating owners. Noisy central heating if radiators not opened full, but then for us, the cottage is too warm, great though if you like it cosy

nice and quiet setting; very comfortable property.

shower very good. well-equipped kitchen too. we enjoyed sunshine too so could use the nice backyard/garden maybe lighting in the lounger area needs to be brighter- not the best for reading and writing in evenings. the central hetaing quite noisy at times - but easy to get used to!

What a beautiful cottage.

It’s set in the most beautiful tranquil area. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s warm, cosy and homely with stunning scenery. The owners are lovely. And very accommodating. There were fresh flowers on the table and milk in the fridge. It’s fully furnished, with towels provided and kitchen appliances and utensils all there. We only stayed one night, however we’ve decided we will be booking again for longer. Highly recommend.x

A lovely cottage in beautiful area .

My carers and I will be back. Thankyou

Very nice cottage.

.lots of space, well equipped, comfortable and warm. However, the visitor book and our experience logs several instances of the boiler being vary loud. It wasn’t just the clunking but for us the real problem was really noisy reverberation of the pipes at 6.30am! The owner advised put the heating on full blast to ease the pressure but then it was red hot! Next was to leave windows open as well and that was a solution but seems very wasteful!

The cottage was excellent and and so was the welcome.

It was very comfortable and very well equipped we lacked for nothing

The cottage is in a lovely location, close to the Derbyshire Peaks and Dales.

Margaret, the owner, is a very friendly, helpful lady. The nearest town, Cheadle, has lots to offer in terms of facilities and sights of interest but the cottage is also within a short distance of Buxton, Matlock, Tissington and Ashbourne, all worth a visit

Spacious and comfortable.

Perfect location for walking and seeing the Peak district.

This cottage is lovely - the host is friendly and leaves supplies in the kitchen, such a lovely touch!

Walks are beautiful and even though this is our 2nd visit we are back next year as there is still so much more to see... love this place!!

Made with one on arrival with fresh bottle of milk tea coffee sugar for a cuppa and fresh flowers in a vase on the table

Brilliant location, ideal to visit Alton towers.

Very warm, cosy and comfortable.

A beautiful location and comfortable stay in a well equipped cottage with pretty garden.

Very quite.

We had a lovely break at the Horse Shoe Cottage.

It’s a lovely cottage set in picturesque surroundings. Facilities were good but the Wi-fi did not work at all which was frustrating. Overall I would say the cottage is not in the luxury bracket but for the money we paid it was good value.

Lovely cottage and setting.

Great garden

Lovely cottage.

This cottage is two floors, very spacious rooms. The shower and bath are next to each other not shower over bath as stated. Highly recommend this cottage.

The owners of the cottage put in some nice touches , such as decorating the cottage with christmas decorations over the christmas period.

Cottage was nice and warm throughout.

The cottage was lovely, it had a slightly different lay out to what your website said.

It has a halogen job, a full size fridge/ freezer and a separate shower. It has plenty of kitchen utensils and was very welcoming as we were there at Christmas and they had put up a tree and decorations. It is in a lovely quiet spot and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

For a quite retreat, an ideal setting with lovely views this cottage is ideal.

Perfect for dogs owner's come all weathers, as the floor downstairs was easy to keep clean and upstairs was comfortable and warm. Not to far to travel for shops in the Town of Cheadle and within easy walks in woodlands.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Horseshoe Cottage, which we found to be a lovely, clean, tidy, and cosy base for us to explore the surrounding area.

Everything we could possibly need had been provided, even down to instruction manuals for the kitchen appliances being left easily accessible should we have run into any problems. There were shops and pubs/restaurants within a ten minute drive of the cottage, and plenty to do to entertain our two young children within an hour's drive, including Alton Towers, Poole's Caverns, and Waterworld Stoke. I would highly recommend Horseshoe Cottage, it was the perfect countryside retreat!

An absolutely brilliant cottage.

Perfectly located, full of everything you could want and a reat place to stay. I will be returning.

Owners very welcoming , lovely walks and a great escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Mobile phone signal quite poor which may not suit some people.

This cottage is deceptively larger than it looks from the outside, it is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Lovely enclosed garden for the dogs, and plenty of walks from the farm. The only downside was, the radiator in the bathroom wasn’t working, which was a little on the chilly side as it was snowing outside, also bath sheets would be nice as towels are very small. Having said that this is a beautiful cottage and we had a lovely stay, it was very quiet, with lots of wildlife, we would love to return in the summer.

A very relaxing stay, well placed to visit local towns and villages.

Secure rear garden for the dogs. Owners very friendly, home from home. Returning again very soon.

Nice big cottage, perfect for families.

it is very close to Alton Towers and local shops. it is a good starting point to discover the Peak District. we will be back for sure :)

People very friendly, less than 10 minutes from Alton towers by car, lovely peaceful location

We had an enjoyable stay in this nice cottage.

The positives certainly out-weighed the negatives. It would have been nice to have Wi_Fi & a Mobile phone signal, but a week without internet was not the end of the world. The bigger downside was that the guests in the twin bedroom, slept poorly, due to the constant noise created by the Boiler/Radiator. This was something previous guests had commented on in the Visitors Book. The directions to the property need updating, as the Highwayman Pub has long gone, being replaced by newish housing. All in all a great week away, & hope these comments are helpful. Regards REX CAMERON
